Most children don’t enjoy doing housework. They like playing computer games rather than cleaning the rooms. But in Australia, Jim and Robert’s mother, Mrs Black, has good and proper methods to get their children to do housework.
Here is an example. “Mom, have you worked out next week’s housework? Let Jim and me choose the cards. I can’t wait. It’s fun!”
When Robert shouted out, his mother had already put all the cards on their big table. On the cards, there are some words like these, “sweep the floor, clean your bedroom, help mom cook, wash vegetables, make beds, feed the fish, cut the wood, clean the bathroom” and many others, Jim and Robert chose two cards for each day from Monday to Friday. Then they would hang them on the weekday task board. Jim likes to clean the bathroom, so he picked up the card “clean the bathroom”. Robert loves to make the bed so he picked up his favourite card. Jim again picked up “wash vegetables” and Robert chose “feed the fish”. Soon the two boys were happy to take away all the cards.
To help the children do housework, their mother thought hard and figured out this idea. Of course, the parents did the housework at weekends and left Jim and Robert two days free.

Carpenter bees (木匠蜂) are a kind of bees that live alone. They build nests (巢) just for themselves and only feed their own young. They get the name from their ability to drill (钻) through wood. Carpenter bees are very special because they can sting over and over again.
They are 1 inch in size and their shape is oval (椭圆形的). Their colour is blue-black and each one has six legs. Only worker bees collect honey from flowers to feed the baby bees and other family members.
The carpenter bees will drill a hole (洞) into wood to build a nest. They will lay eggs in the nest and protect the baby bees when they grow. They drill the wood and put the pieces outside the nest to keep the nest warm. The hole is usually about one or two inches deep, but it can be up to 10 inches! The holes usually have several rooms for their eggs and food.
Carpenter bees don’t cause public health problems or danger, but they can hurt the wood where they build their nests. Carpenter bees are good because they pollinate plants that are ignored (忽略) by honey bees.
Carpenter bees like drilling the bare (光秃秃的) wood better than the others, so painting and colouring wood sometimes stops them building their nests. Animal experts should try to help them out of trouble.
27.How do carpenter bees get their name?
A.The way of building nests. B.The ability to sting.
C.The number of their legs. D.The way of collecting food.
28.What question does the second paragraph answer?
A.What do the carpenter bees like?
B.What colour do the carpenter bees like?
C.What are the carpenter bees like?
D.How do the carpenter bees live?

Adolescence (青春期) is a time when young people grow from children to adults. It is difficult for teenagers because both their minds and bodies make great changes. Therefore, it’s necessary to learn something about the changes.
A young person may begin adolescence at 8 years old, while another may not start until 14 or 15. Usually girls start two years earlier than boys do. For both girls and boys, it is usually over by the age of 18.
Teenage boys at this time often begin to take unnecessary risks. They focus on having fun and being accepted by others. They are also easily angry with others and fight more.
A girl’s personality often does not develop in the same way as a boy’s. They are no longer certain about their own feelings. Yet they are usually afraid to tell their parents or teachers about their problems. For this reason, teenage girls should be encouraged to talk about things with people they trust.
Parents, schools and communities can do a lot to care for and help young people. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that young people grow into healthy adults.
A.When is adolescence?
B.Teenage girls sometimes lose confidence in themselves.
C.Therefore, they need to think before they act and learn to take the duty.
D.The changes may bring teenagers many problems if they don’t know what to do with them.
E.At the same time, teachers can also educate teenagers about what is happening to them and help them to know themselves better.

根据“do not be ___ to rush from one spot to another”可知,此处是劝告不要急于从一个景点赶到另一个景点,be quick to do sth.表示“急于做某事”,符合语境。

Protecting wild animals, protecting ourselves
Dear friends,
Animals are our friends. But with the development of society and changes in the environment, many wild animals are facing huge threats.
My favorite wild animal is the tiger. Tigers are strong and beautiful. They are at the top of the food chain and help keep the balance of nature. However, tigers are now in danger. Their living areas are getting smaller because people cut down forests. Also, some people hunt tigers for their fur and bones. To protect tigers, we should stop destroying their habitats. The government should make laws to punish those who hunt tigers. We can also tell more people about the importance of tiger protection.
Remember, protecting wild animals is protecting ourselves. Let’s take action together!
Thank you!
