Affordable Beach Vacation in Corfu

Corfu, an island off the coast of Greece, offers visitors sun-kissed shores (岸,滨) with clear water and lots of beaches.

Finding the Perfect Beach

Our first pick is Sidari Beach. It’s a blue flag beach perfect for couples looking for a more private feel, as it’s far from bigger tourist destinations. Issos Beach makes the perfect place for watching the sunset. Dassia Bay has a bit more water sports. Paleokastritsa is an amazing west coast village with six beaches on offer, including Rovinia Beach.

Getting Around Corfu

Corfu offers bike rental and bus service as cheaper alternatives (可供选择的事物) to taxis. The best time to visit Corfu is during the “shoulder season” in April or May. The weather isn’t as warm as the high season but it remains perfect. It is not crowded in this period, but you still need to book ahead of schedule as Corfu stays popular throughout the year.

Eating Out for Less

There are a lot of well-priced restaurant food but street food is also a big winner. Some popular choices are Souvlaki and Pita Gyros. There are also many cheeses unique to Greece, including Tirokafteri and Ladotyri. Corfu also has many unbelievable desserts (甜食). Stazei Meli is where tourists like to give them a try

My teacher held up a piece of broken glass and asked, “Who broke this window?” Thirty boys tried to think about not only what they had done, but also what our teacher may have found out. She seldom became angry, but she was this time.

“Oh,” I thought. I was the one who broke the window. It was caused by a naughty throw of a baseball. If I admitted guilt, I would be in a lot of trouble. How would I be able to pay for a big window like that? I didn’t even page number 1

get an allowance. “My father is going to have a temper,” I thought. I didn’t want to raise my hand, but some force much stronger than I was pulled it skyward. I told the truth. “I did it.” It was hard enough to say what I had done.

My teacher took down a book from one of our library shelves and I had never known my teacher to strike a student, but I feared she was going to start with me.

“I know how you like birds,” she said as she stood looking down at my guilt-ridden face. “Here is that field guide about birds that you are constantly checking out. It is yours now. It’s time we got a new one for the school anyway. You will not be punished as long as you remember that I am not rewarding you for your misdeed, I am rewarding you for your truthfulness.”

I couldn’t believe it! I wasn’t being punished and I was getting my own bird field guide the very one that I had been saving up money to buy.

All that remains of that day is my memory and the lesson my teacher taught me. That lesson stays with me every day, and it will echo forever.

C

I remember the day when I first learned to ride a bike. It was a frightening, yet fun experience. My grandfather was the one who taught me and he helped me when I got hurt. The first time I got on a bike, I had no idea what I was doing, and just about everything went wrong. My grandfather told me to just put my feet on the pedals (脚蹬子) and start cycling. He also told me he would hold onto the back of the bike the whole time, yet he didn’t.

As soon as I started trying to balance myself, he let the bike go. I happened to look back just then. I was frightened to death that I was going to fall and hurt myself. When I was scared, my mind went blank from cycling, and I just wanted off. I forgot how to use the brakes (车闸) and fell right off the bike. My grandfather kept encouraging me to get up and try again, and after about 15 minutes, I finally stopped crying, got up and tried again.page number 2
