As a child. I never considered myself an athlete at all as I was very uncoordinated (不协调的). However, I did love to run because I felt as if I was flying, but this all changed two years ago when I suffered a knee injury. I was bedridden for two weeks and I had a difficult time moving even short distances. I literally cried myself on my way to the car for a few days.
When therapy wasn’t working well for me, I signed up for a hot yoga class for girls, Bikram Yoga to be exact. Starting a yoga practice was truly a godsend because it helped me gain strength in my knees but, most importantly, yoga helped me attain a more peaceful state of mind, body and spirit.
Since each class was heated to 105 F, every time I set foot in the yoga studio, I’d feel a surge (涌起) of negative thoughts come upon me like a big ocean wave. Some of these thoughts were, in the beginning of my practice, so strong that I walked out of the class several times, However, as the months passed by, I noticed that when I didn’t get swayed away by my negative thoughts, I could stay in the hot room for longer.
After 3-4 months of practicing hot yoga, my arms and legs were beginning to get definition. I also woke up with so much more energy than I had before starting my yoga practice and I gradually started shedding the pounds from my body. Yoga literally made me feel as if I’d taken a shot of energy drink and just gave me that burst that helped my knees heal and made my overall health better.
As I saw some of my classmates do poses that looked appealing to me, I started to think maybe I could do them too. Therefore, yoga helped show me that I have no real limitations physically unless I set those limitations myself through eating junk and thinking in negative limiting terms.
Also, practicing yoga in front of a mirror helped me connect with myself and practicing with a group of people really helped me to feel a greater sense of connection with humanity whereas before I didn’t. Overall, this yoga practice has helped me to see I’m part of a bigger picture in life!

B. She couldn’t bear the pain the knee injury brought.

45. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
A. To call on readers to sign up for yoga courses.

Technology use seems to be the new wave of addiction hitting people of all ages. Its extreme use can be compared to the use of drugs, which is called Plug-in Heroin.
The next time you’re in a crowded public place, look at the people around you. It’s hard to find someone who isn’t glued to the tiny screen, fingers moving at lightning speeds, texting their friends, emailing co-workers or listening to music. It may seem ridiculous that someone is that addicted to such a small object. I’ve seen people who seem to be at their wits’ end (不知所措) if their phone or iPad has been taken away, lost or left at home.
Some people may ask, “What’s wrong with technology use? It’s a way for people to communicate.” While this is true, the overuse of technology isn’t always appropriate in certain settings. Schools are becoming stricter about the use of cell phones, iPads and other electronics in classrooms. Various workplaces have signs hanging on their walls warning employees that“Cell phone use is not permitted ”or “Cell phones are forbidden.”
Electronics may be a way for people to communicate and stay in touch with each other, but the disadvantages may outweigh the benefits. People are losing the ability to hold face-to-face conversations with others. However, it’s hard to avoid electronics in this day and age because almost everything is turning into an electronic format. Books, originally meant for paper design, are now being transferred (转存) to electronic forms. Photo albums, and even yearbooks, can now be viewed via the internet. With this growing trend, future generations are bound to become even more addicted to technology.
Is there a cure for electronic addiction? Simply turning electronics off for an hour or two a day may help to an extent, but it will not completely rid electronic addiction. There only seems to be one cure left, and it may be the hardest: self control.
46. What is Plug-in Heroin?
A. The growing popularity of electronics.
B. The serious consequences of technology use.
C. The unreasonable dependence on electronics.
D. The future possibility of technology development.
47. The second paragraph is intended to ________.
A. show people’s addiction to electronics
B. persuade people to quit electronics
C. prove electronics are harmful to people
D. tell people it is ridiculous to use electronics
48. According to the passage, which of the following is true?
A. Cell phones can be used in all kinds of work situations.
B. Overuse of electronic products should be limited.
C. Cell phones and iPads can be freely applied in schools.
D. There’s nothing wrong with using technology, because it's the only way people communicate.
49. Why is it difficult to avoid electronics nowadays?
A. Fewer choices are left for communication.
B. The design of paper books is less interesting.
C. It is a must to use electronics to keep in touch.
D. Too many things are available in electronic forms.
50. In the author's opinion, what is the best way to cure electronic addiction?
A. Turn off the electronics for an hour or two.
B. Be stricter about the use of cell phones, iPads and other electronics in classrooms.
C. Learn to control yourself.
D. Cell phones are forbidden in the workplaces.
“Girls are weak, and boys are strong. This is what is being subconsciously communicated to hundreds of millions of young boys and girls all over the world, just like it was with me,” said American actor Justin Baldoni. As a boy, all he wanted was to be accepted by other people. That acceptance meant he had to pretend to be strong when he was weak, confident when he felt insecure, and tough when he was actually hurting.
Is that a healthy lifestyle? A member of the CPPCC Standing Committee might say “yes”. In his proposal, he spoke of a need to “prevent the feminization of male youths”. In response to his call, China’s Ministry of Education has recently demanded that schools should hire more physical education teachers and improve teaching methods to cultivate masculinity in students.
The response has been widely debated online, with many people saying that it reinforces gender stereotypes. The state broadcaster CCTV wrote on its Weibo account, “Education is not simply about cultivating men and women. It’s more important to develop a willingness to take responsibility.” You might be wondering now: What is masculinity, and why is this so controversial?
Well, by itself, “masculinity” refers to the qualities traditionally considered to be typical of men. While there is not really a single “correct” set of qualities, the term is often associated with strength, courage, assertiveness, and emotional control. Sometimes, however, these seemingly admirable qualities can be extended in unrealistic ways. But boys are also human. Blindly asking them to control their feelings “like a man” can only increase their stress when they grow up.
As an educator who has spent years teaching in China, I agree that attaching more importance to physical education would definitely benefit students. Sports provide opportunities for physical fitness. More importantly, they can help develop lifelong skills, such as leadership and communication skills. However, putting the emphasis on masculinity is far from a sound reason for which to do so.
It is unnecessary for all boys to build up their muscles, but it is essential that they all learn how to be strong inside. It is also fine for boys to cry and to show their weakness. Schools should work on equipping students with the skills and values they will need to be successful in life, not reinforcing stereotypes of masculinity borrowed from a bygone age.
51. Why did young Justin Baldoni think it necessary to pretend to be what he was actually not?
A. He was trying to be strong and confident.
B. He wanted to be accepted as a real man.
C. It was necessary for an actor to be strong and tough.
D. He felt it secure and safe to do so.
52. The underlined expression “masculinity” in Paragraph 2 most probably means “__________”
A. manly qualities B. potential abilities
C. self-centredness D. steady strength
53. What is the argument against the demand of China’s Ministry of Education?
A. It is necessary to prevent the feminization of male youths.
B. Physical education should be paid more attention to.
C. We should teach students according to their individual qualities.
D. Importance should be attached to developing students’ sense of responsibility.
54. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Masculinity is out of date.
B. Masculinity is overstated.
C. Masculinity shows physical strength.
D. Masculinity only focuses on physical fitness.
55. What does the author want to say in the article?
A. We should do everything we can to guarantee students’ health.
B. Schools should differentiate between boys and girls while educating them.
C. It is important to prepare students with necessary skills and right values.
D. It is time to weaken stereotypes of masculinity.

第四部分 写作
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。
At the age of forty-five, my usually well-ordered life became full of changes. After twenty-two years of working in a bank, a plan to use less staff led to the unemployment of over one hundred people. Unluckily, I was one of them.
My once secure future became uncertain. However, I was not a single parent, so the family did not depend only on my income and my husband can support the family. My motto has always been, “Change is good; change is progress,” but when it affected my livelihood, I had to change it “Accept change and make the most of it.” From the beginning, I chose to look at this matter not as bad luck, but as a welcome chance. I refused to become sorry; instead, I actively planned to do something new and different.
Having a positive attitude made all the difference in the way I pursued the future. First, I decided to return to college and graduate many years later than I should have. Doing this at my age took more than a little courage. Not being a graduate had never held me back in my career in the bank, but now it is a personal goal I longed to achieve. With a lot of determination, I went to evening classes and became an adult student. In the class, I became more and more confident. During this time, I realized that no matter what life throws in our way, nothing can hinder our personal growth.
The second thing I did to improve my inner self was to reevaluate my past life. It used to be filled with endless, and sometimes meaningless events. But now, my heart and life are completely around people I care for.
The loss of my job led to some positive changes in my life. Revisiting the past made room for the future. I realize that I have accepted the change, and am making the most of it.

A. The temperature was difficult to control in yoga class.
B. She couldn’t bear the pain the knee injury brought.
C. She was greatly influenced by negative thoughts.

44. What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 4?
A. She did better than her classmates at school.
B. Her physical state has acquired a new outlook.

45. What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
