1. city 城市（复数 cities，辅音字母加 y 结尾变 y 为 i 加 -es）；map 地图。

2. north 北方；east 东方；south 南方；southwest 西南方——方位名词前要加 the：in the north of China。

3. winter 冬天；summer 夏天；cold 寒冷的；hot 炎热的；warm 温暖的；humid 湿润的。

1. This is Beijing. It's in the north of China. 这是北京，它在中国的北部。

　解析：in the + 方位 + of...，“在……的……部”，方位前必须加 the。
