模拟调研卷(含参考答案)

一、阅读理解

A

Why are children so much more creative than adults? How does that creativity disappear later? What other great ideas do children have?

For children, everything is possible. What's more, young children get praise and encouragement from their parents and teachers for almost any work they do particularly for imaginative stories or weird pieces of art. They have heard tales of magic and they see technology around them doing all kinds of amazing things.Every problem can be solved for them.On the other hand, adults are only too well versed in what they cannot achieve and what cannot be done. They are surrounded by rules, regulations, and laws. They have experienced failures and shame. At some stage, they have worked for a difficult boss who was not interested in their ideas—just in getting the job done on time.

If we want to be truly creative,we need to think like children again. We need to imagine a perfect solution and then ask“Why not?”The daughter of Edwin Land asked this question when he told her that she could not see the photo he had taken straight away. Her persistence led him to invent the Polaroid camera. In similar fashion 11-year-old Richie asked,“Why can't we speak to each other underwater?”He invented an under water speaking device. They show the need of having a childlike mind.

Of course, every invention or innovation has to be in a world of limitations. But if we start by imagining an ideal solution and then work back to overcome or accommodate limitations, then we will have a better chance of success than if we start with all the obstacles in a clear view.

Be creative and try thinking just like a child. You did it all the time once,so now page number 0

Chinese researchers have developed bricks(砖)from a material similar to lunar soil, hoping they can be used to build a lunar base in the future.

A team of researchers led by Ding Lieyun at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST)used a lunar soil simulant (模拟月壤)to make“lunar bricks”that are more than three times stronger than standard red bricks or concrete page number 1

bricks. They also have mortise and tenon joint structures(榫卯结构),which were used in ancient Chinese buildings. This makes it possible to put these bricks together simply.

According to Zhou Cheng at HUST,the team tested five different kinds of simulated lunar soil and used three ways to harden them. This helped them choose the best materials for making the bricks.▲ For example, one of the tested kinds simulates the lunar soil at the landing site of Chang’e 5,which is mainly basalt. Some other kinds simulate the soil found at other locations, which is mainly anorthosite.

The lunar bricks need to undergo performance testing before being used because the moon has an extreme(极端的)environment.Quakes often happen there, and cosmic radiation is high.It gets as hot as 180℃ during the day and as cold as —190℃ at night.

The lunar bricks were sent to China's space station on the Tianzhou-8 spacecraft to check how well the bricks do in space. The first brick returned to earth at the end of 2025.China hopes to build a lunar research station between 2028 and 2035.

C.Lunar soil is similar everywhere on the moon,

D.Lunar soil changes in different locations on the moon.

(  )3.What's the temperature difference between the lowest and highest on the moon?

A.10℃.     B.180℃.         C.190℃.          D.370℃.

(  )4.Which paragraph(s)talk(s)about why we test lunar bricks?

A.Paragraph 3.                   B.Paragraph 4.
