3. 词汇小贴士（本课语言重点：表身份名词构词与榜样主题词汇）：

① 英语中很多表示“人／身份”的名词由词根加后缀构成：-ist（science→scientist, art→artist, piano→pianist, tour→tourist）、-ian（history→historian, music→musician, Canada→Canadian）、-er（research→researcher, report→reporter, write→writer）、-or（invent→inventor, visit→visitor）。

② 注意拼写：science→scientist（去 e 加 -ist）、physics→physicist（去 s 加 -ist）、invent→inventor（-or 后缀需单独记忆）。

③ radio n. “无线电；收音机”，on the radio 意为“在广播里”。如：I heard the news on the radio.

④ wise adj. “明智的”，其名词形式为 wisdom “智慧”。如：Curiosity and wisdom lead us to explore the universe.

⑤ elder adj. “年长的”，常修饰家人（elder daughter 长女、elder brother 哥哥），只作定语，不用于 than 比较。

⑥ spread v. “传播；散布”，过去式与过去分词均为 spread（spread—spread—spread）。如：The disease is spreading.

⑦ look up to sb “敬佩；仰慕某人”（反义 look down on/upon 瞧不起），勿与 look up“查阅；抬头看”混淆。如：Many people look up to Earhart.

⑧ come true “实现；成真”，为不及物短语，无被动语态；常用于 make one's dreams come true。如：her ability to make her dreams come true。
