M: I know her. She has millions of followers.
W: Yeah, her latest video talks about the British personality. You know, the famous British reserve.
M: Ha. I see. It just means we aren’t very friendly or very open. So do you think it’s true?
W: It’s hard to say, but Lily says Britons are too shy to make friends with others.
M: Look at Americans, we speak the same language, but they’re much more open. And you see it when Americans travel, they speak with strangers, often on the train. British people seldom do that, not in London anyway.
W: People may be different in other parts of your country, isn’t it?
M: Not completely, you know what they say. An Englishman’s home is his castle. It’s really difficult to get inside.
W: Yeah, Lily also mentions it being private. You go home to your house and your garden and you close the door. It’s your place.
M: That’s why the British don’t like flats. They prefer to live in houses.
(本题4.5分)听下面一段独白,回答以下小题。
18.(1.5分)In which country is it proper to make a noise while drinking?
A.Mexico. B.Japan. C.Britain.

C.Making a noise while having meals.

A.Doing as you do at home.
B.Following the native people.
C.Visiting different countries.
【答案】18.B 19.A 20.B
【原文】Today, I’m going to tell you something about manners in different countries. I think you already know that people in different countries have different ways of doing things. Something that is rude in one country may well be quite polite in another. For example, in Britain you mustn’t lift your bowl to your mouth and you’d better not make a noise when you are having some liquid food. But in Japan, you needn’t worry about making a noise when you drink it, it shows that you are enjoying it. In Britain, you try not to put your hands on the table at all during a meal. In Mexico, however, guests are expected to keep their hands on the table throughout a meal. But it is in the Arab countries that you really must be careful with your hands. You see, in the Arab countries, you mustn’t eat with your left hand. This is considered to be very impolite. So what should you do if you visit another country? Well, you needn’t worry. You can ask the native people there to help you, or just watch carefully and try to do as they do, not as you do at home.
二、阅读理解
(本题7.5分)Discover World Heritage
Heritage is treasure from the past — what we live with today and what we pass on to future generations. To preserve it, UNESCO safeguards hundreds of natural and cultural World Heritage sites around the world.
Here are 4 World Heritage sites:
Historic Centre of Rome
Founded, according to legend, by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC, Rome was first the centre of the Roman Republic, then of the Roman Empire, and it became the capital of the Christian world in the 4th century.
Ancient City of Damascus
Founded in 3000 BC, Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the Middle East. In the Middle Ages, it was the centre of a splendid craft industry, specializing in swords. The city has some 125 monuments from different periods of its history.
Old Havana
Havana was founded in 1519 by the Spanish. By the 17th century, it had become one of the Caribbean’s main centres for ship-building. Although it is today a modern city, its old centre remains an interesting mix of Baroque and neoclassical (新古典主义的) monuments.
Ancient City of Pingyao
Pingyao, founded in the 14th century, shows the evolution of architectural styles and town planning in Imperial China over five centuries. Of special interest are the splendid buildings associated with banking, for which Pingyao was the major centre for the whole of China in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
21.(2.5分)Which of the following was last founded?
A.Rome. B.Pingyao. C.Havana. D.Damascus.
22.(2.5分)What can we learn from the text?
A.Havana became a modern city in the 16th century.
B.Damascus was well-known for its craft industry.
C.Pingyao was once the major centre for ships in China.
D.Rome was founded by the Spanish.
23.(2.5分)In which section of a magazine can we read the text?
A.Culture. B.Nature. C.Education. D.Environment.
【答案】21.C 22.B 23.A
【导语】这是一篇应用文。文章介绍了世界上四处世界文化遗产的情况。
【详解】21.细节理解题。根据Historic Centre of Rome部分中“Founded, according to legend, by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC(据传说,罗马由罗穆卢斯和雷穆斯于公元前753年建立)”;Ancient City of Damascus部分中“Founded in 3000 BC, Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the Middle East.(大马士革建于公元前3000年,是中东最古老的城市之一)”;Old Havana部分中“Havana was founded in 1519 by the Spanish.(哈瓦那于1519年由西班牙人建立)”及Ancient City of Pingyao部分中“Pingyao, founded in the 14th century, shows the evolution of architectural styles and town planning in Imperial China over five centuries.(始建于14世纪的平遥,展现了五个世纪间中国古代王朝建筑风格与城市规划的演变历程)”可知,Havana是最晚建立的。故选C。

23.推理判断题。根据第一段“Heritage is treasure from the past — what we live with today and what we pass on to future generations. To preserve it, UNESCO safeguards hundreds of natural and cultural World Heritage sites around the world.(遗产是往昔留存的瑰宝,是我们当下赖以存续的根基,亦是我们将传承给子孙后代的财富。为了保护人类共同遗产,联合国教科文组织对全球数百处自然与文化双重世界遗产地进行着保护)”可知,文章核心是介绍四处世界文化遗产,世界遗产属于文化范畴,因此最可能出现在杂志的文化版块。故选A。
(本题10分)Gu, a young man from Chongqing, China, has devoted himself to revitalizing the traditional “filigree inlay art”. Over the past seven years, he has given this 1,000-year-old craft a modern twist (变化,新意), helping it regain its former glory and attract young admirers. “People of my generation should pass down the craft so that it won’t become something our children can only see in museums,” he said.
Filigree inlay was mainly used in jewelry making in ancient China. Filigree involves using gold or silver threads to create delicate designs, while the inlay work decorates metal pieces with carved patterns and embedded jade or gemstones.
Gu majored in history in college. After graduation, he studied cultural relic restoration at the Palace Museum for half a year, where he was deeply impressed by a phoenix crown (凤冠) decorated with filigree inlay. Then he decided to devote himself to learning the art and passing it down to younger generations, believing that only younger generations can inject vitality to it.
However, mastering the craft proved far from easy. To make a piece, Gu must stretch metal threads 5 millimeters in diameter into thin filaments — some as fine as 0.16 millimeters. Yet he never gave up, often spending hours stretching, twisting and weaving threads thinner than a human hair into complex patterns.
After becoming skilled in the craft, Gu focused on blending traditional techniques with modern life. He designed fashionable jewelry, like hairpins, earrings and brooches to appeal to young people. Meanwhile, he began to explore new ways of promotion. Luckily, the emergence of new media contributes greatly to carrying forward this traditional technique. Because of these efforts, his works have gained wide attention both in China and abroad. While foreigners admire their unique Chinese charm, overseas Chinese see them as a reminder of home. Thanks to Gu’s creativity and persistence, the ancient art of filigree inlay is not only surviving, but thriving (繁荣) in the contemporary world.
24.(2.5分)What do Gu’s words suggest in the first paragraph?
A.He feels the urge to preserve the craft. B.He sees the craft as mainly for the young.
C.He thinks the craft is best displayed in museums. D.He hopes more children will visit craft museums.
25.(2.5分)What primarily motivated Gu to pursue filigree inlay art?
A.His academic background in history. B.His intention to modernize the craft.
C.The lack of young artisans in this field. D.A specific artifact he encountered.
26.(2.5分)What do the figures emphasize about filigree making in paragraph 4?
A.The high process cost. B.The rapid production pace.
C.The demanding precision. D.The hard-to-obtained raw materials.
27.(2.5分)What is the most significant outcome of Gu’s work?
A.Enabling mass art production. B.Integrating tradition and modernity.
C.Turning the craft into a research frontier. D.Expanding exhibition space in museums.

25.细节理解题。根据第三段“After graduation, he studied cultural relic restoration at the Palace Museum for half a year, where he was deeply impressed by a phoenix crown (凤冠) decorated with filigree inlay. Then he decided to devote himself to learning the art and passing it down to younger generations, believing that only younger generations can inject vitality to it. (毕业后,他在故宫博物院学习了半年的文物修复课程,在此期间,他被采用花丝镶嵌工艺装饰的凤冠深深吸引。于是他决定投身于这门艺术的学习,并将其传授给下一代,他认为只有年轻一代才能为其注入新的活力)”可知,是他在故宫博物院遇到的那件凤冠文物,促使他开始追求花丝镶嵌技艺。故选D。
26.细节理解题。根据第四段“To make a piece, Gu must stretch metal threads 5 millimeters in diameter into thin filaments — some as fine as 0.16 millimeters. (为了制作一件作品,Gu必须将直径5毫米的金属丝拉成细丝,有的细到0.16毫米)”可知,这些数字强调了花丝镶嵌制作过程中对精度的严苛要求。故选C。
27.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Thanks to Gu’s creativity and persistence, the ancient art of filigree inlay is not only surviving, but thriving (繁荣) in the contemporary world. (得益于Gu的创造力和坚持,古老的花丝镶嵌艺术不仅得以存续,更在当代世界蓬勃发展)”可知,Gu的工作最显著的成果是将传统技艺与现代生活相融合,让古老工艺焕发新生。故选B。
(本题10分)Pu’er is the home of the world-known tea of the same name. Since other tea-growing centers in Pu’er may have a larger output, more famous brands (品牌) and heritage surrounding the history of the Tea-horse Ancient Road, Jingmai, also in Pu’er, may not be people’s first choice to look for the best Pu’er Tea.
However, being cut off from the outside by rivers, this mountainous area has become a perfect place for an ancient planting technique, growing tea trees under forest, known as the “under-story” method, which filters (过滤) sunshine while ensuring water.
Nan Kang, former head of Mangjing village, said, “Compared to modern plantations, we’ll surely produce less tea in the ancient forest. But we have to respect our tradition and belief. Birds eat insects to protect the tea and the fallen leaves from trees provide fertilizer. Everything improves the other, but also limits each other. It is the way of nature.”
Nan is an old-time Blang leader’s grandson. Following an old leader named Pa Aileng, his ancestors (祖先) came to settle near the Jingmai Mountain centuries ago. It is believed that Pa Aileng found that tea leaves made his people recover from diseases they suffered from during their moving to other places, so the hero is also considered as a “tea ancestor”. Blang people chose a mountain to remember him. They call it Peak Aileng.
“We Blang people believe tea has its own spirit,” Nan says. “The first planted tea tree in every field is called the Tea Spirit Tree. That means the field has an owner. And the symbol also makes everyone follow moral codes and protect the plants.”
Now, this mountain of tea, also a storehouse of the time-tested traditions of local ethnic groups, attracts global attention. The Cultural Landscape of Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er was named as a World Heritage Site, becoming China’s 57th entry on the list.

(本题10分)The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City are recognized as the first city in China and provide archaeological evidence that Chinese civilization has a history of over 5,000 years. The site was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2019. UNESCO describes it as "representing the great achievement of prehistoric rice-cultivating civilization of China over 5,000 years ago, and an outstanding example of early urban civilization".
Located in the Yangtze River Basin on the south-eastern coast of the country, the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City were the political and religious center of an early regional state in the Taihu Lake Basin. The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City reveal an early regional state with rice-cultivating agriculture as its economic base, and social differentiation and a unified belief system, which existed in the Late Neolithic period in China.
This 5,300-year-old city was first discovered by Shi Xingeng in 1936, and then became known to the world after many years of archaeological excavations. The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City have been designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and are the most representative prehistoric large-scale settlement in East Asia, marking a milestone in the development of human civilization. The Liangzhu culture, as the peak of early rice agriculture in the formation stage of Chinese civilization, had a profound impact on the evolution of Chinese culture for the following five thousand years.

六、书面表达
67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I had a further study in Australia, the amazing chopsticks I was used to could have helped me with eating. However, it troubled me a lot, making my study life there full of twists.
For me, a Chinese student, I made it a daily must to use chopsticks. When I ate in the school canteen every day, chopsticks helped me enjoy food happily. However, it was just then that the foreign classmates surrounded me immediately, looked at me with curiosity and whispered in confusion: “My goodness, the strange chopsticks!” At first, I would smile and briefly tell them how to use chopsticks. But with the thing staying unchanged, the stranger my classmates felt, the more uncomfortable I felt. It was the cultural difference that made it. Eventually, I doubted if I would give up using chopsticks and learn to use a knife and fork instead.
Once we had a dinner, everyone sat in the restaurant. I couldn’t help reaching out for chopsticks. Mike, who was in the same group, saw this and shouted excitedly, “Look, the strange chopsticks!” As he spoke, he took a pair of chopsticks and awkwardly used them. But before the food was picked up, the chopsticks dropped on the floor. The chaotic laughing exploded while my face was flushed with embarrassment. Eating with my head lowered, I was in low spirits. I came to realize that in their opinion, chopsticks were just a strange tool, and my using chopsticks here simply became a laughing stock (笑柄). Nevertheless, I loved chopsticks carrying Chinese traditional culture from the bottom of my heart.
As time went by, others kept misunderstanding chopsticks. I smiled casually, but deep down I worried that using them would never be accepted here. And I tried to avoid using chopsticks in public, even learned to use knife and fork in the following days. To my great surprise, the school expected everyone to prepare for the annually-held culture-sharing event. I was at a loss.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
The culture-sharing event was approaching.

I was well prepared to share the chopsticks culture in the event.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
The culture-sharing event was approaching. It warmly welcomed the exchange students to take part. I imagined what a golden opportunity it was to show Chinese chopsticks culture! Hesitant and indecisive, I was deeply torn. At the thought of chopsticks carrying Chinese culture, I felt my indecisiveness disappearing all at once. “Why not remove my classmates’ misunderstanding and clear their confusion?” lingered in my mind. Subsequently, I was busying myself composing a speech on Chinese chopsticks. Time flying like an arrow, the event eventually kicked off.
I was well prepared to share the chopsticks culture in the event. The enthusiastic classmates surrounding me tightly were listening with the intense interest twinkling in their eyes. Abruptly, Mike said “I misunderstood you. Now, I know chopsticks carry Chinese culture.” “Surely, chopsticks symbolize harmony, unity and coexistence,” responded I. Seeing everyone immersed in the ocean of happiness, I felt a wave of warmth coursing through me. I came to know that the culture-sharing event really meant promoting the cross-cultural communication and bridging the cultural divide.

A.He feels the urge to preserve the craft. B.He sees the craft as mainly for the young.
