The amazing Broadway revival (复兴) impresses with celebrated classic songs, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade” and “People”. This bittersweet comedy is the story of the never-say-die Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. Everyone told her she’d never be a star, but then something interesting happened — she became one of the most beloved performers in history, shining brighter than the brightest lights of Broadway.Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Our Theater for Young Audiences program focuses on performances produced especially for Pre-K through 3rd Grade audiences but welcomes all ages.A Christmas Carol
This is a joyous musical adaptation for the whole family that follows curmudgeon (吝啬鬼) Ebenezer Scrooge’s overnight journey to becoming a better person. (本题10分)Tilly Norwood officially made her acting debut in October 2025 at the Zurich Film Festival. She first appeared in the short film AI Commissioner three months earlier.
But Norwood was made by artificial intelligence (AI). The AI “actress” was created by Xicoia, the AI branch of the UK production company Particle6. And AI Commissioner is an AI-generated short film, written by ChatGPT.
Norwood introduces a new type of technology to Hollywood. Unlike computer-generated imagery, where an actor’s movements are turned into a digital character, there is no human behind Norwood’s performance. Every expression and line delivery is created by AI.
Norwood has been trained on the performances of hundreds of actors, without any payment or consent. She draws on the information from those performances for her expressions and line delivery. Her arrival comes less than two years after the artist strikes that brought Hollywood to a standstill, with AI a central issue in the protests.
Norwood also started a debate on what counts as art. We consider creativity to be a human quality. Art is generally understood as an expression of human experience. However, Norwood’s performances do not come from such creativity or human experience; instead, a database of pre-existing performances. How can that be compared with actors’ performances — a craft they have developed throughout years of practice and hard work in their careers?
Also, Norwood’s survival depends on how the audience feels. If they do accept AI actors, there could be a major effect on jobs. Entry- and mid-level acting jobs could disappear. AI actors could also reduce the demand for whole creative teams — from makeup and costume to lighting and set design — since they reduce the need for on-set artistry.
Norwood is not a question of the future of Hollywood. She is a cultural stress test — a case study in how much we value human creativity. AI is here, and some audiences will accept it. The risk is that in choosing imitation (模仿) over human artistry, we change culture in ways that cannot be easily reversed (逆转).
What kind of film is AI Commissioner?
A.An old-school movie. B.A science fiction movie.
C.An independent film of Zurich. D.A film wholly made by non-human.
What can be learnt about Norwood?
A.She is popular with audiences. B.She is replacing human performers.
C.She learns acting from data-collection. D.She is a product of Hollywood strike.
What can be concluded from the last paragraph?
A.AI imitation brings damage to humans.
B.AI stars will be part of Hollywood.
C.Hollywood won’t value human creativity.
D.AI performers will be accepted by all the audience.
What is the main idea of the passage?
A.AI-generated films redefine art. B.Film industry faces new challenges.
C.Imitation of human artistry damages movies. D.An AI actress made her first appearance.
(本题10分)Short-form video content, ranging from seconds to minutes, has grown increasingly popular, driven by influential platforms. While fascinating millions globally, its rising consumption stresses the need to understand its impact on attention spans
Short-form video content is designed to catch attention quickly and provide information or entertainment in a short and easy manner. While this can do good in some cases, it can also lead to a phenomenon known as “continuous partial attention”, which is the state of repeatedly dividing one's attention among several tasks. When watching short-form videos, people are often taking part in other forms of media or distractions (分心的事物) on their device at the same time. This too-often switching of attention can lead to a decrease in focus and concentration, finally impacting our ability to retain information and engage in deep thinking.
A study found that people who watched short videos were less likely to remember the information compared to those who watched longer videos. This suggests that while short-form videos can be a useful tool for getting to know new concepts at the beginning, they may not be as effective for deep learning and remembering.
To decrease the negative effects of short-form videos on attention span, platforms that consider quality more important than quantity should be developed. By providing content that is meaningful and interesting and that makes people think seriously, these platforms can encourage users to engage in more focused and intentional use of short-form video content.Additionally, individuals can take active steps to manage their own short-form video consumption, such as setting time limits or engaging in activities that promote deep thinking and concentration.
What mainly causes the phenomenon “continuous partial attention”?
A.Enjoying short-form videos of too many topics.
B.Watching only part of each video without finishing it.
C.Changing attention frequently to other tasks on the devices.
D.Viewing and listening at the same time while watching short-form videos.
What does the underlined word “retain” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Keep. B.Update. C.Recover. D.Share.
What can be done to reduce the harm of short-form videos on attention span?
A.Turning to long-form videos intentionally.
B.Preventing the application of short-form videos.
C.Setting limits on the length of short-form videos.
D.Promoting short-form videos encouraging deep thinking.
What is the author's attitude towards short-form videos?
A.Unclear. B.Careful. C.Supportive. D.Doubtful.
(本题10分)They declared that it was dead — or, if it wasn’t dead yet, it soon would be. The cause of the disease was viral: first blogs, then image-sharing networks, and now influencers on social networking sites. Yet, despite all journalists’ poor predictions, the printed travel guide is still in a fine state. Sales in Britain were mostly flat in 2014-2019, a period when smartphones became powerful.
That is not to say there have not been periods of ill health. Frommer’s, the grandfather of American guidebooks, was sold in 2012 for $ 22m to a company, which reportedly planned to end the series’ print run. (The following year Arthur Frommer, its founder, bought it back.) Lonely Planet, the best-known travel publisher, has been through several owners at ever-lower valuations.
Now guidebooks still keep coming out when all the information you could need is in your pocket. Print is a useful medium for information on the go. Books can be drawn randomly on and dog-eared, and they need no charging or Internet access. They can be easier to run through than social media, websites or e-books. Rick, author of America’s bestselling guides to European destinations, published his first guidebook 44 years ago, but still researches many of his books, making adjustments and constantly updating them. His publishers, being more business-minded, also produce pocket guides, which combine the tips with photographs.
It is authenticity (真实性) and content selection that print books are selling; therefore, the more content out there, the better for guide publishers.
Perhaps, in time, apps with similar features may take off in the West. Artificial intelligence is another emerging challenge. Like a good guide, AI’s promise is that it can do complicated research and produce a summary, so Frommer’s, for its part, experimented with using AI to offer tailor-made answers to people’s questions on traveling, which only found that it was making things up too often to be useful. Nothing makes a person reach for their trusty guidebook more than a misleading tip.
What threatens the existence of printed guidebooks?
A.The rise of smartphones. B.The attitude of journalists.
C.The spread of some viruses. D.The impact of social media.
Why are Frommer’s and Lonely Planet mentioned in paragraph 2?
A.To clarify the misbelief in guidebooks. B.To introduce guidebooks’ traditional form.
C.To show guidebooks’ unstable development. D.To compare the different states of guidebooks.
Which aspect of guidebooks is mainly talked about in paragraph 3?
A.Adjustments to their design. B.Their benefits to travelers.

What does the author indicate in the last paragraph?
A.Print books give way to apps. B.Print travel guides remain favored.
C.AI can tailor traveling plans. D.Apps work very well with guidebooks.

It was a Thursday night. I lay on the sofa, watching Animal Planet, when my friend Harley called. “Hey, Adam. You have a GoPro camera, right? Can you film the foam (泡沫) party this Saturday?”
I had never filmed a party or anything else before, but I thought, why not help a friend out? Any party with foam must be fun anyway.
“Okay, I’ll give it a try,” I said. I had no idea that this simple request would soon change my whole life.
A few days later, I finished the short video and invited my wife, Ashleigh, to watch it in my room. I stared at her face as she watched the party scenes on the screen. She smiled from ear to ear the whole time.
When the video ended, I turned off the screen and asked nervously, “So, what do you think?”
“Adam, you’re so talented!” she said excitedly. “You turned a small-town party into something that looks like a big city event. You must make good use of this talent. No more excuses!” As she walked to the door, she turned around and said playfully, “Don’t come out until you’ve chosen a film course!”
After she left the room, I sat alone, starting to think about a new life.
I was really scared to go to film school as an adult. Ashleigh believed in me, and my video had already got 4,000 views online. However, negative thoughts kept coming into my mind. “You’re too old to keep up with young students,” “You’re not good enough,” “They know much more than you.”
I wanted to succeed, but I feared failure more. I preferred my stable job to taking risks. Quitting my well-paid job to study film was a huge risk. I worried about being laughed at if I failed. It seemed easier to stay in an unhappy job than to chase my dream.
Thankfully, Ashleigh never gave up on me.
注意:
1. 词数应为150左右;
With her encouragement, I finally took the first step and enrolled in film school.

Four Must-See Shows: From Broadway to Holiday MagicFunny Girl
The amazing Broadway revival (复兴) impresses with celebrated classic songs, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade” and “People”. This bittersweet comedy is the story of the never-say-die Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. An elephant named Gerald and a pig named Piggie are best friends. Piggie is more excited than usual. That’s because she and Gerald are invited to a party hosted by the Squirrelles, three singing squirrels (松鼠).
And so begins a day when anything is possible. Coming to life from Mo Willems’ award-winning children’s books, the musical experience will leave audiences doing the “Flippy Floppy Floory” dance all night long! Our Theater for Young Audiences program focuses on performances produced especially for Pre-K through 3rd Grade audiences but welcomes all ages.A Christmas Carol

Tilly Norwood officially made her acting debut in October 2025 at the Zurich Film Festival.
根据第二段“And AI Commissioner is an AI-generated short film, written by ChatGPT.(《AI专员》是一部由人工智能生成的短片,剧本由ChatGPT创作。)”
根据第四段“Norwood has been trained on the performances of hundreds of actors, without any payment or consent. She draws on the information from those performances for her expressions and line delivery.(Norwood通过学习数百名演员的表演素材完成训练,全程未支付任何报酬,也未征得演员们的许可。她利用这些表演资料生成面部表情与台词演绎。)”可知,该AI角色依靠收集的表演数据学习演技。
26.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Norwood is not a question of the future of Hollywood. AI is here, and some audiences will accept it.(Norwood并不是好莱坞未来的一个问题。人工智能已经到来,一部分观众将会接受它。)”可知,AI明星今后将会成为好莱坞的一部分。
27.主旨大意题。根据第一段“Tilly Norwood officially made her acting debut in October 2025 at the Zurich Film Festival.(Tilly Norwood于2025年10月在苏黎世电影节正式完成影视首秀。)”
D.Doubtful.
【答案】28.C 29.A 30.D 31.B
根据文章第二段“While this can do good in some cases, it can also lead to a phenomenon known as “continuous partial attention”, which is the state of repeatedly dividing one's attention among several tasks. When watching short-form videos, people are often taking part in other forms of media or distractions (分心的事物) on their device at the same time. This too-often switching of attention can lead to a decrease in focus and concentration, finally impacting our ability to retain information and engage in deep thinking..(“虽然这在某些情况下是有好处的,但它也会导致一种被称为“持续部分注意力”的现象,这是一种反复将注意力分散到几个任务上的状态。
故选A。
根据文章最后一段“By providing content that is meaningful and interesting and that makes people think seriously, these platforms can encourage users to engage in more focused and intentional use of short-form video content.Additionally, individuals can take active steps to manage their own short-form video consumption, such as setting time limits or engaging in activities that promote deep thinking and concentration.(通过提供有意义、有趣、让人认真思考的内容,这些平台可以鼓励用户更专注、更有意识地使用短视频内容。此外,个人可以采取积极措施来管理自己的短视频消费,例如设置时间限制或参与促进深度思考和集中注意力的活动)”可知,推广鼓励深度思考的短视频可以减少短视频对注意力持续时间的负面影响。故选D。
31.推理判断题。根据第一段“While fascinating millions globally, its rising consumption stresses the need to understand its impact on attention spans (持续时长).(在吸引着全球数百万人的同时,它不断增长的消费强调了有必要了解它对注意力持续时间的影响。)”以及最后一段“To decrease the negative effects of short-form videos on attention span, platforms that consider quality more important than quantity should be developed.(为了减少短视频对注意力持续时间的负面影响,应该开发质量比数量更重要的平台)”可知,作者对短视频的态度是谨慎的。故选B。
C.Their competition with the Internet. D.Reasons for their survival.
What does the author indicate in the last paragraph?
A.Print books give way to apps. B.Print travel guides remain favored.
C.AI can tailor traveling plans. D.Apps work very well with guidebooks.
根据第一段的句子“The cause of the disease was viral: first blogs, then image-sharing networks, and now influencers on social networking sites. Yet, despite all journalists’ poor predictions, the printed travel guide is still in a fine state. (这种弊病的起因是病毒式传播:首先是博客,然后是图片分享网络,现在是社交网站上有影响力的人。然而,尽管所有记者的预测都很糟糕,但印刷的旅游指南仍处于良好状态。)”可知,社交媒体的影响威胁着纸质旅游指南的存在。故选D项。
33.推理判断题。根据第二段“That is not to say there have not been periods of ill health. (这并不是说没有过健康状况不佳的时期。美国旅行指南之父Frommer’s在2012年以2200万美元的价格卖给了一家公司,据说这家公司计划结束该系列的印刷。(次年,公司创始人Arthur Frommer将其买了回来。)最知名的旅游出版公司Lonely Planet历经几次收购,估值越来越低。)”可知,提到Frommer’s和Lonely Planet是为了说明纸质旅游指南的发展不稳定。故选C项。
34.主旨大意题。根据第三段的内容,特别是其中的句子“Print is a useful medium for information on the go. Books can be drawn randomly on and dog-eared, and they need no charging or Internet access. They can be easier to run through than social media, websites or e-books. (印刷品是一种有用的移动信息媒介。书可以随意画在上面,折角,而且不需要收费,也不需要上网。它们比社交媒体、网站或书籍更容易浏览。)”可知,这段主要讨论了纸质旅游指南在数字化时代仍旧能生存下来的原因。故选D项。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段的内容,特别是最后一句“Nothing makes a person reach for their trusty guidebook more than a misleading tip. (没有什么比误导人的提示更能让人去看他们信赖的旅游指南了。)”可知,作者在最后一段指出纸质旅游指南仍然很受欢迎。故选B项。

F.Make efforts to contribute to a positive group in your community nearby
G.So turn off unnecessary notifications to lower distractions and enhance your focus
前文“If you’re working on a task and you stop to look at your phone, it takes just two seconds to read a text message — but it may make you twice as likely to make an error on what you’re doing. Worse yet, it takes you extra time to get back into the flow of your previous task.
37.前文“Having organized, comfortable space — both physical and digital — is important to our mental and physical health. Chaos in your home or work environment invites distraction into your life. (拥有一个有条理、舒适的空间——无论是物理空间还是数字空间——对我们的身心健康都很重要。家里或工作环境的混乱会让你的生活分心)”强调有序环境的重要性,后文“Establish some digital boundaries that work for you and clearly communicate them to family members and work contacts. (建立一些对你有用的数字边界,并将它们清楚地传达给家人和工作联系人)”具体建议建立数字边界,因此C项“To proactively set yourself up for better management, take action (主动为更好的管理做好准备,行动起来)”符合语境,提议采取行动,承前启后,起到过渡作用。故选C。
38.后文“Whether a certain technology enhances or harms our life is often dependent on how we use it. The temptation to endlessly scroll on social media can be high, especially when your brainpower is low. In the morning, take a few minutes to write down first things that you need to complete for the day and plans.
39.前文“In the morning, take a few minutes to write down first things that you need to complete for the day and plans. (早上,花几分钟写下你今天需要完成的第一批事和计划)”建议早晨做好当日的规划,后文“and use your screen-time settings to hold yourself to your limits on the Internet (并使用你的屏幕时间设置来限制自己上网的时间)”建议设置屏幕使用时间,因此D项“Consider including an intention for how long you want to be online (考虑加入你希望上网多久的意向)”指出规划中要包含上网之间,承上启下,其中的online和后文的on the Internet呼应。故选D。
40.后“Rather than focusing on the quantity of relationships, concentrate on the quality of your connections online. Unfollow irrelevant people or groups who are not adding value to your life. (与其关注人际关系的数量,不如关注你在网上的人际关系的质量。取消关注那些对你的生活没有价值的人或团体)”建议重视有意义的人际关系,取消关注无意义的社交,E项“Social media can be the source of much anxiety and social comparison (社交媒体可能是焦虑和社交攀比的源头)”符合语境,指出社交媒体会带来的问题,是后文建议立足的理由。故选E。

【答案】【参考范文】
Dear Jenny,
I hope this email finds you well. I’m entering an international high school short video contest themed “Through Labor, We Build.”
My initial plan is to film a 3-minute documentary which shows how different people contribute to the creation of a community library. The climax will be the moment when the library opens its doors, symbolizing that labor builds not just structures but also connections.
However, I’m struggling with the narrative flow and how to make transitions between scenes feel natural. Could you share your advice on pacing and editing techniques to make the “building” process visually engaging?
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

注意:
1. 词数应为150左右;
With her encouragement, I finally took the first step and enrolled in film school.

With her encouragement, I finally took the first step and enrolled in film school. Stepping into the classroom on the first day, I felt out of place surrounded by energetic twenty-year-olds. My hands shook as I fumbled with the fancy editing software, and those old negative voices whispered again — You’re too old. You don’t belong here. But Ashleigh’s words echoed in my mind. I stayed after class every day, rewatching tutorials and practicing shot after shot. Slowly, the camera began to feel like an extension of my hands. My professor noticed my progress and praised my unique eye for storytelling. By the end of the first semester, I had not only caught up but was also topping my class. For the first time in years, I felt truly alive.
Half a year later, I got a chance to film for a famous music festival. When the email popped up, my heart raced — this was the big break I’d dared not dream of. The festival grounds were massive, the crowds electric, and for a moment I froze. Then I thought of that small foam party, of Ashleigh pushing me out the door, and I lifted my camera. For three days, I chased light and emotion through the crowds, capturing every roar of the crowd and quiet backstage moment. When the final video was released, it went viral overnight. Offers poured in from bands and event companies. That night, I held Ashleigh tight and thanked her for seeing in me what I couldn’t see myself. What started as a simple favor had truly changed my whole life — and I learned that it’s never too late to start chasing the person you were meant to be.
