My first guitar lesson ended in pain, confusion and defeat, but I was completely absorbed. At 10, I felt a deep connection to this mysterious instrument. Since then, guitars have been my life.
Through aching fingers and weary arms, guitars tapped into my deep emotions. With practice, the pain faded, and I grew closer to the instrument. The calluses (老茧) on my fingertips became badges (勋章) of honor, filling me with pride. The sensations of playing became second nature, offering momentary excellence. I lost count of the magic instants when I was transported to a different reality. Picking up a guitar always returns me to that wide-eyed 10-year-old, leaving me calmer and re-energized.
The joy is enhanced when I witness its impact on others. In my late teens, our band performed at hospitals, children’s camps and seniors’ homes. The smiles and dancing of the audience still remain with me. Guitars also bridged cultural divides. When I traveled, shared rhythms with fellow musicians stirred up beautiful, wordless conversations.
The guitar has marked many defining moments in my life—performing for my wife, accompanying my children and comforting me in adversity. It centers and calms me. Many years ago, I thought I was picking up a guitar for the first and only time. Instead, it claimed me for a lifetime. I credit it to my parents, whose encouragement and belief in my potential paved the way for a lifelong passion.
For anyone fortunate enough, there’s an “instrument” waiting to be found—something that connects them to themselves and others. It might not be a guitar; it could be a paintbrush or a sport. What matters is the sense of belonging it brings. Now, hearing my son’s guitar flow through the house at night, I hope it touches his soul as deeply as it has touched mine.
4. Why did the author consider the calluses as badges of honor?
A. They displayed his musical talent. B. They reminded him of the childhood.
C. They symbolized his journey of growth. D. They represented the hardship of his life.
5. What do the author’s experiences show in paragraph 3?
A. Travel makes a full man. B. Joy shared is joy doubled.
C. A smile breaks down barriers. D. Where words fail, dancing speaks.
6. What kept the author playing the guitar?
A. His parents’ support. B. His desire for fame.
C. His children’s company. D. His wife’s admiration.
7. What does the author mainly intend to convey?
A. Facing challenges is a must in life. B. Music serves as a universal language.
C. Having a lifelong passion is a blessing. D. Family members matter more than anything.

The Yellow River is the cradle (摇篮) of China’s civilization. And flood control and prevention have always been key to the well-being of the people living along it. Now, scientists can better work on these issues by giving the river a digital twin.
The digital twin of the Yellow River uses various technologies, including big data, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. Devices set up along the river collect and transmit information to the command center. Based on the information, a 3D model of the river is presented on the computer screen. It’s like the Yellow River has a twin that reflects its real conditions.
One big breakthrough in the river’s digital governance (治理) is “smart stones”. According to Wang Qin, a lead researcher at the Information Center of Yellow River Henan Bureau, a smart stone is a water-proof stone-shaped device with chips, a battery, and a signal transmitter. They are buried in important dike (堤坝) locations to record and report the movement of dike stones. “Upon feeling movement of the dike stones, the smart stone sends an alarm to the command center for quick response,” Wang said. “In the past, researchers had to learn the conditions of the dike on the spot by themselves, putting their lives at risk, ” said Zhao Xiaoxiong from the bureau. “Now the smart stones can do this for us, more safely, quickly, and accurately. ”
And in the sky, drones (无人机) are flying. On the routes designed by engineers, the drones become expert patrollers of the river, looking at its dikes and flood prevention projects. According to Shen Lin from the Yellow River Conservancy Commission, thanks to the drones, researchers at the command center can get first-hand photos and information. “Researchers then update the 3D model according to the changes the drones reported. The newly updated model helps us test our floodwater release plans in case we ever need to batten down the hatches,” said Shen.
Under the water and up in the sky, intelligent systems are helping to protect the Yellow River Basin on all fronts. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, in the future, we can expect to see the construction of an even more comprehensive digital system for this important river.
8. What is the main purpose of creating a digital twin of the Yellow River?
A. To conduct historical research.
B. To raise public awareness of river protection.
C. To improve flood control and prevention efforts.
D. To create a virtual tourist attraction.
9. How do the smart stones contribute to the river’s digital governance?
A. They record water quality.
B. They serve as markers for important locations.
C. They enhance the river’s beauty.
D. They monitor and report dike movements.
10. What is one of the functions of drones in the digital governance of the Yellow River?
A. Entertaining tourists.
B. Collecting information on dike conditions.
C. Patrolling and taking wildlife photos.
D. Giving warning of coming floods.
11. What does the underlined phrase “batten down the hatches” in the second to last paragraph mean?
A. Prepare for difficult times. B. Foresee the future.
C. Work hard to achieve one’s goals. D. Overcome challenges.
D
Most of us were raised to think that smart people always know the right answers. From gold stars in school to performance reviews in the office, we’re rewarded for certainty.
Yet as Bidhan Parmar, professor at the UVA Darden School of Business, argues in his new book, Radical (彻底的) Doubt, “Certainty somehow blinds us. The only thing that spoon-feeding (填鸭式) teaches us is the shape of a spoon.” His point is disturbing: The very habits we rely on to feel smart — rushing toward the final goals, simplifying complex problems— are the ones that keep us from making wise choices.
The hardest problems we face in life, whether in careers, relationships, or society, rarely come with single right answers. They’re what Parmar calls “moments of unease”: multi-criteria choices that involve competing goals, high risks, and deep uncertainty. The old way of always looking for the only right answer not only doesn’t work here, but also causes bad results. As Parmar explains, “We often treat complex problems like simple ones until we are faced with the reality.”
Our personal and professional environments are more uncertain than ever. Technology develops faster than regulation, workplaces are more diverse, and social standards are changing. I’ve watched firsthand that experienced leaders ignore warning signs because they were addicted to “feeling right.” They simplified the situation when they should have paused or explored, and missed the opportunity that doubt was pointing them toward.
Our brains work with three connected systems: the Pursue system (looking for rewards), the Protect system (staying away from danger), and the Pause-and-Reframe system (using doubt and rethinking). Past research shows that most of us let the first two take over: we either rush forward or hold back because of fear. Based on behavioral science, the smarter choice is to take enough time to notice complexity, question common assumptions, and treat our first thought just as one choice instead of the only decision. In real life, this means balancing conflicting goals at the same time, and learning to say “I’m learning” instead of “I know.”
12. What can we infer from spoon-feeding in the second paragraph?
A. Certainty might ruin decision-making. B. Common people can learn few facts.
C. Smart habits surely bring good results. D. Simple tools secretly improve creativity.
13. Which situation could be described as a “moment of unease”?
A. Making money from safe and stable investment.
B. Treating difficult problems with one’s first thought.
C. Continuing to develop in the research field one knows well.
D. Trying to find a job overseas when a parent falls ill.
14. What can make leaders fail according to the author?
A. Shifting standards. B. Ignoring doubts. C. Lacking experience. D. Breaking principles.
15. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Always Being Right: The Hidden Danger.
B. Simplifying Complex Problems: A Quick Fix.
C. Certainty: The Road to Failure.
D. Radical Doubt: The Smarter Way to Decide.

____17____ By developing productive habits, you automatically direct your focus toward high-impact tasks, ensuring that efforts are not merely spent on doing more, but on doing the right things well. Therefore, shifting from being merely busy to being genuinely productive requires forming a set of essential habits.
You may begin by tracking your time for a week to gain an honest, data-driven picture of your current habits. ____18____ It helps force you to clarify priorities and allocate (分配) specific blocks of time for focused work. Equally critical is protecting your focus. Schedule demanding tasks for your peak productivity hours and defend these blocks using visual signals(e.g. “Do not disturb” signs). to minimize interruptions.
However, a common misconception is that multitasking enhances productivity. In reality, what we call multitasking is often rapid task-switching, which divides attention, reduces focus, and ultimately leads to lower-quality results. ____19____ It’s important to recognize that the primary barriers to effective self-management are rarely a lack of time: Rather, they typically arise from a lack of clear priorities or unexamined habits.
Time, much like money, is a valuable and limited resource. It demands wise allocation and investment in what truly matters. Mastering self-management is key to unlocking enhanced productivity and achieving goals. ____20____
A. However, the phrase is misleading.
B. Achieving your goals is never that easy.
C. Anyway, good habits are usually formed by force.

E. Instead, concentrated effort on one task produces far superior outcomes.
F. A huge part of our day, from morning routine to work processes, runs on habits.

As a key player on my school’s basketball team, I lived and breathed the game. My best friend David, also my teammate, shared this passion, and we had one hero in common: Stephen Curry. We’d stay late after practice, copying his quick crossovers and long-range shots, chatting about how cool it would be to play like him someday.
Then a big loss hit me hard. It was in the game, which was tied with only 10 seconds left. I got the ball — our team’s last chance to win. But I missed the shot. We lost, and I could see disappointment on my teammates’ faces.
After that, I became a different person. I kept blaming myself, and my confidence totally disappeared. David noticed my struggle right away. He practiced with me alone and wanted to encourage me, “One bad play doesn’t make you a loser.”
I stared at my shoes,” I almost messed it all up. What if I do it again in the championship final?”
David stepped closer, his tone soft but sharp, “Cheer up, Jimmy. Don’t let one failure hold you back. Think about our hero Curry...” He paused, eyes suddenly lighting up like he’d just had a breakthrough, without noticing my whisper “My hero Curry would think I’m a loser too.”
During the training for the championship, I didn’t want to join at all. But when David told me there was a surprise waiting for me in the gym, I hesitated for a moment and finally decided to go check it out.
On stepping into the gym, I noticed the big screen — there was a video from Curry himself — smiling, holding a basketball, saying, “Hey, Jimmy! Mistakes aren’t losses; they’re just lessons waiting to be used. Get back out there, trust your training, and remember: even the best shooters miss. What matters is you take the next shot.”
Moved but confused, how could Curry appear on the screen? Suddenly, I realized it was an AI Curry.
注意:
1.续写词数应为120左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Anyway, I was inspired greatly.

【答案】8. C 9. D 10. B 11. A
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了黄河数字孪生体的创建目的、运行方式和发展。
【8题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段后两句“And flood control and prevention have always been key to the well-being of the people living along it. Now, scientists can better work on these issues by giving the river a digital twin.”(洪水的控制和预防一直是生活在这条河上的人们幸福生活的关键。现在,科学家们可以通过给河流一个数字孪生体来更好地解决这些问题。)可知,创建黄河数字孪生体的主要目的是加强防洪工作。故选C项。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段第三句“They are buried in important dike locations to record and report the movement of dike stones.”(它们被埋在重要的堤坝上,以记录和报告堤坝石块的运动。)可知,智能石头通过监测和报告堤防的运动来为河流的数字化治理做出贡献。故选D项。
【10题详解】
细节理解题。根据倒数第二段第二句“On the routes designed by engineers, the drones become expert patrollers of the river, looking at its dikes and flood prevention projects.”(在工程师设计的路线上,无人机成为河流的专业巡逻员,监视河堤和防洪工程。)可知,无人机在黄河数字化治理中的作用之一是收集堤防状况信息。故选B项。
【11题详解】
词句猜测题。根据倒数第二段后三句“According to Shen Lin from the Yellow River Conservancy Commission, thanks to the drones, researchers at the command center can get first-hand photos and information. “Researchers then update the 3D model according to the changes the drones reported. The newly updated model helps us test our floodwater release plans in case we ever need to batten down the hatches,” said Shen.”(据黄河水利委员会的沈林介绍,多亏了无人机,指挥中心的研究人员可以获得第一手的照片和信息。“然后,研究人员根据无人机报告的变化更新3D模型。新更新的模型可以帮助我们测试我们的洪水释放计划,以防我们需要……”沈说。)可知,使用无人机可以获得黄河水利情况的第一手资料,研究人员可以根据无人机发回的资料实时更新3D模型,这样做可以提早预防洪涝等紧急情况,以便做出快速回应。故推知batten down the hatches应表示“做好准备,未雨绸缪”等含义,与A项“Prepare for difficult times.”(为困难时刻做好准备)同义。故选A项。

【答案】12. A 13. D 14. B 15. D
【解析】
【导语】文章核心围绕《Radical Doubt》这本书的核心观点展开,论证了“接受合理质疑才是更智慧的决策方式”。
【12题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“Yet as Bidhan Parmar, professor at the UVA Darden School of Business, argues in his new book, Radical (彻底的) Doubt, “Certainty somehow blinds us. The only thing that spoon-feeding (填鸭式) teaches us is the shape of a spoon.” His point is disturbing: The very habits we rely on to feel smart — rushing toward the final goals, simplifying complex problems— are the ones that keep us from making wise choices. (然而,正如弗吉尼亚大学达顿商学院的比丹·帕尔马教授在其新书《彻底的怀疑》中所指出的那样:“确定性会让我们变得盲目。填鸭式灌输所教会我们的,不过是勺子的形状而已”。他的观点令人不安:我们赖以自认为聪明的那些习惯——急于追求最终目标、简化复杂问题——恰恰是那些阻碍我们做出明智选择的习惯)”可知,确定性可能会破坏决策过程。
【13题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“They’re what Parmar calls “moments of unease”: multi-criteria choices that involve competing goals, high risks, and deep uncertainty.(它们是帕尔玛所说的“不安时刻”:涉及竞争性目标、高风险和深刻不确定性的多标准选择)”可知,“不安时刻”涉及多重标准,包含竞争性目标、巨大的风险以及极大的不确定性。因此推断D选项“当父母生病时,却试图去国外找工作”符合“不安时刻”的描述。
【14题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“I’ve watched firsthand that experienced leaders ignore warning signs because they were addicted to “feeling right.” They simplified the situation when they should have paused or explored, and missed the opportunity that doubt was pointing them toward. (我亲眼目睹过一些经验丰富的领导者会忽视那些警示信号,因为他们过于执着于“感觉是对的”这种想法。他们本应停下来或深入探究,却选择了简化问题,从而错失了那些由怀疑所指向的机遇)”可知,导致领导者失败的原因是忽视疑虑。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“Yet as Bidhan Parmar, professor at the UVA Darden School of Business, argues in his new book, Radical (彻底的) Doubt, “Certainty somehow blinds us. The only thing that spoon-feeding (填鸭式) teaches us is the shape of a spoon.” His point is disturbing: The very habits we rely on to feel smart — rushing toward the final goals, simplifying complex problems— are the ones that keep us from making wise choices. 第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

【答案】例文
Anyway, I was inspired greatly. I grabbed my basketball and rushed to the court — no more hiding! David laughed as I joined the training, “That’s the guy I know!” Practising day in and day out helped me sharpen my skills. Every time I failed to get a point, Curry’s “next shot” pushed me. For the first time, I didn’t fear mistakes. By the time championship week started, I was ready to perform beyond everyone’s expectations with my accurate shooting and continuous efforts — self-doubt had faded into muscle memory.
I stood confidently on the championship final court, ready to give my all. The cheers of the crowd filling the air, I only focused on the ball. With only ten seconds left, a similar scene unfolded once again. At the moment, the powerful words of David and AI Curry echoed again in my ears. The shot didn’t just score points, for it brought back the player I’d almost lost. Not until I heard claps and cheers around me did I realize that I made it. It was my friend’s firm support and my idol’s inspiring spirit that brought the confidence back into me.
