Sign language is the main way of communication for deaf people. It’s difficult for them to talk with ordinary people because they can’t hear. Luckily, professional sign language translators bridge the gap between deaf people and the outside world.
Hao Shuxin regards sign language as her first language. Her parents are deaf, so she learned sign language naturally before she could speak. In 2018, she began to work as a sign language translator at a Chongqing law firm. Her main job is to provide translation services for deaf clients to help them solve legal (法律的) problems.
Hao always feels stressed at work. The accuracy of legal translation is extremely important, so she explains every legal term and procedure (程序) earnestly. Besides, sign language has different “dialects” in different areas. The same meaning can be expressed with different gestures (手势), which brings difficulties to her work. There are also grammar differences between Chinese and sign language.
To improve her professional ability, Hao has traveled to over 30 cities in China to learn local sign language habits. In her spare time, she keeps reading law books and communicating with deaf colleagues. She says she deeply understands the difficulties of deaf people, and she will try her best to help them with her professional skills.

Many teenagers have trouble dealing with stress in daily life. Some people believe that stress is completely bad for young people. But in fact, not all stress is harmful. We should learn to tell different kinds of stress apart.
Bad stress usually comes from too much pressure. When students face endless homework, high expectations from parents and heavy exam worries, they may feel worried all the time. This kind of stress can influence sleep and health. It may make teenagers lose confidence and feel down. If bad stress lasts for a long time, it will do great harm to both body and mind.
However, there is also good stress. Good stress appears when we meet challenges. For example, before a speech or an important competition, you may feel a little nervous. This nervous feeling pushes you to prepare harder. It helps you become more active and try your best. It can make you grow and improve yourself.
So what should we do when we meet stress? First, do not be afraid of it. Try to find out where your stress comes from. If it is bad stress, you can talk with your parents, teachers or friends. You can also take exercise or develop hobbies to relax yourself. If it is good stress, just accept it and make use of it.
Life is full of challenges. Stress is a common part of growth. Instead of running away from stress, we should learn to face it in a wise way.
33. Which of the following is bad stress?
A. Nervousness before a school speech.
B. Worrying too much about exams day and night.
C. Excitement before a sports match.
D. Pressure to make progress in study.
34. What can good stress bring to teenagers?
A. Poor sleep and bad health.
B. Less confidence in themselves.
C. Power to work harder and make progress.
D. Feelings of sadness all day long.
35. What is the writer’s suggestion for dealing with bad stress?
A. Keep it in your heart and never tell others.
B. Talk to people around you and relax yourself.
C. Give up all your hobbies.
D. Do more homework to forget stress.
36. What does the underlined phrase “running away from” mean?
A. 逃避 B. 面对 C. 利用 D. 忍受

It’s common to play video games as a way to reduce stress. We play games for fun, relaxation and even to kill time. However, one student has found a much more creative way to use video games.
Wu Hele, 17, a Senior 3 student from Jinling High School, Nanjing has been preparing a gift for his high school—a recreation (重建) of his own school in the game Minecraft. (《我的世界》)
It is a game that allows players to design landscapes and buildings in all different types of locations with different materials.
For Wu, recreating the school was not just a sudden idea. During Wu’s first time visiting the school, he found that it was perfect for rebuilding.
After his first visit to the school, Wu decided to rebuild it. However, this was not an action that could be done in a day. During his three years in high school, Wu has effectively organized his time. After finishing his homework or exercises, he always walked around the school with a notebook. “I measured all the corners by eyeballing (目测) or counting footsteps.”
His hard work has paid off. Almost all of the scenes of Jinling High School have been rebuilt in the game. The gate, the teaching buildings, the unique corridor with the wisteria (紫藤长廊)—every tree and flower has been exactly rebuilt. The player can visit the classrooms, gyms and office buildings and view the detailed decorations inside.
“I’m the first one who rebuilt our school in this way. I’ve cherished (珍惜) the three years I’ve spent here, and I have learned a lot during the whole process,” Wu told Nanjing Daily (《南京日报》).

Never Give Up, Improve Yourself
I’m sorry to know that you have teenage problems. Here is my advice.
First, you have trouble with your parents. They choose clothes and order dishes for you without asking your opinion. You should know your strengths: organized, patient and brave. Talk with them more to improve your communication skills. Second, it’s hard to balance study and hobbies. Ask teachers for help and do sports after class. Finally, you spend too much time on the phone and feel regretful. Plan your time well and use the phone less. Many teens face this, so you are not alone.
Don’t fear falling behind. Believe in yourself. Never give up!
Yours,
Amy
