Passage1(课内同源:龙骨上的惊天发现)
In 1899, a Qing Dynasty scholar named Wang Yirong fell ill and got his medicine from a shop. While checking the medicine, he noticed strange marks carved on pieces of old bone, called “dragon bones”. They were not natural lines — they looked like a writing system. / Wang Yirong was a careful student of ancient bronze and stone inscriptions. He bought up the “dragon bones” and studied the marks one by one. Slowly, he realized that these were characters from the Shang Dynasty, more than three thousand years ago. Kings of Shang had carved questions on the bones — about weather, harvests, wars and dreams — and used them to record important events. / The discovery excited the whole country. People hurried to the medicine shops and the fields where the bones had been dug out, and thousands of oracle bones were collected and studied. The marks, now called oracle bone inscriptions, are the earliest known Chinese writing. They pushed China's recorded history much further back and became the ancestor of the characters we write today. / Today, you can see oracle bones in museums, and in 2017 they were listed in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register. A sick man's careful eyes turned medicine into history — and gave us a three-thousand-year-old conversation with our ancestors.

Passage2(课外同源:点亮黑暗的六个点)
Louis Braille was born in France in 1809. As a little boy, he hurt his eyes in an accident and became blind. At that time, books for the blind were rare, and the letters were huge and hard to read by touch. / In 1824, when he was only fifteen, Braille improved on a soldier's idea called “night writing”, which used raised dots for reading in the dark. He simplified the design into a six-dot system: sixty-three combinations of raised dots, each standing for a letter or a sign. With fingertips, blind people could read page after page like everyone else. / In 1829, Braille published his method, but for many years few schools accepted it. Braille kept teaching, playing music and improving his system until he died in 1852. Slowly the six dots proved themselves: easy to touch, quick to write, and perfect for music and maths as well. / Today, braille is used for almost all the languages in the world, from street signs to exam papers. The six dots, like six little stars, light up the dark for millions of readers. Helen Keller once said that access to communication means access to knowledge — and Braille's six dots have opened that door for generations of blind readers.

任务四范文:Writing has wonderful stories behind it. More than three thousand years ago, people in the Shang Dynasty carved characters on bones, and thousands of these oracle bones tell us about their life and questions. In 1899, the scholar Wang Yirong came up with the idea that the marks on “dragon bones” were ancient characters, and his discovery pushed China's written history further back. Another moving story is about Louis Braille, who was blind from childhood. At the age of fifteen, he came up with the six-dot system, so blind people could read with their fingers. Today braille is used in almost all languages, and oracle bone characters live on in the words we write. These stories remind us that writing is one of humanity's greatest inventions.
