3. 语法小贴士：

① 倒装句 Here are ...：Here are some special and fun New Year traditions from around the world. 这里 are 放在主语之前，是因为主语 some special and fun New Year traditions 较长，用倒装使句子平衡。

② 现在分词短语作伴随状语：The elders give the children lucky money, wishing them safety and health. 句中 wishing them safety and health 是现在分词短语，表示伴随发生的动作（一边给压岁钱，一边祝愿）。

③ whole 与 all 的区别：the whole family = all the family（全家）。whole 强调“完整的整体”，常与 the / 物主代词连用；all 则强调“全部”。如 the whole family gets together（全家人都聚在一起，谓语用单数）。

④ be believed to do sth.：Eating all 12 grapes is believed to bring good luck.（人们相信吃光 12 颗葡萄会带来好运。）相当于 People believe that eating all 12 grapes brings good luck.

⑤ be full of = be filled with（充满）：This shows that the next year will be full of adventures.

⑥ strike 与 show 的用法：strike 意为“敲响”，过去式为 struck，如 the clock strikes midnight；show 意为“表明；展示”，如 This shows that ... ，也可表示“给……看”（show sb. sth. = show sth. to sb.）。
