If you talked to an AI bot a lot, would you start to see it as a real friend and depend on it too much? The government has introduced new rules for AI companion bots (陪伴型机器人).
These bots, either in the form of a toy or an app, have become a part of many people’s daily lives. They are always friendly and patient. Some young people spend a lot of time with them and pull away from real-life friends, Wang Zhechen from Fudan University told China Daily.
To fix this, the new rules say AI bots can’t encourage people to use them for too long. They must show pop-up (弹出的) messages reminding people to take a break after two hours. Nowadays, many teens spend a lot of time looking at screens during holidays. To stay away from the busy city life, my family went on a special trip to a quiet village last month. We tried a digital detox (数码排毒). It meant we could not use our phones much in this small village.
When we first arrived, there was something wrong with our phones because of the poor signal (信号). My brother could not play his favourite games on the phone. At first, he felt bored and did not know what to do. Soon, we found lots of fun things to do. We went outside to enjoy the beautiful landscape. The fresh country air made us feel comfortable.
In the afternoon, we helped local farmers pick tea leaves. It was hard work. In the evening, instead of watching online videos, we sat together and told funny jokes. We also learnt to cook simple food by ourselves. The nice smell of our dishes filled the room.
The next morning, the farmers showed us how to grow vegetables. After that, we took a walk by the river. My brother tried cooking fish, but he burnt it. Although we could not use our phones much, we got great joy from family time. It was fantastic. We decided to go there again next year.

Most plants need the same things to live. They need water, light, food and carbon dioxide (二氧化碳). There is carbon dioxide in the air. They must get all these things in their environment. Most plants have roots, stems and leaves. Each part of a plant helps it to live. Roots get water and food from the ground. Stems carry food and water through the plant. Animals also need many different things to live. They need water, food for energy, and oxygen(氧气) from the air or water. An animal’s body parts help it to live in its environment. Legs or wings help it move. Teeth or beaks help it eat. Many animals have lungs to get oxygen from the air. Fish use gills (鳃) to get oxygen from water. Other animal parts help keep them safe. They might also use their parts to help build homes. For example, birds use their beaks to build their homes.
That’s how plants and animals get what they need. It’s true that there is a close relationship between living things and their environment. Plants and animals are great. They all have their own way to get what they need.

“Home is where the heart is.”
Home doesn’t have to be the building that you live in. It is where you most want to be. 40 . It may be the same city they live in now, the city where they grew up, the house where their parents live, or the place where they are raising their family.

During the holiday, most students are busy with travelling, camping and all kinds of courses. But a special group of Chinese students decided to experience life outside school.
Twelve students sold vegetables at a local market in a big city together. Within 12 days, they made more than 1,500 yuan.
Among them, the oldest is 21 years old, while the youngest is just 10. They are all cousins in a big family and eight of them are from rural areas.
“Compared with travelling, such social (社会的) practice makes us learn how tough our parents are,” said Dalin, 18, a senior high graduate (毕业生), to The City Morning Post. Dalin and her 12-year-old brother Xiaolin came up with the idea.
They worked hard to sell their vegetables. Every morning, they had to wake up at 3 o’clock. Some of them went to the farmers’ market to buy vegetables. Some of them went to the local market to take up a temporary stall (临时摊位). To lower the cost, they learned to bargain (讲价) with the sellers.
At about 6:30 am, they began to sell vegetables. They peddled (吆喝) loudly to attract customers. After several days, they got some experience, too.
For example, it was better to put vegetables in order and bigger ones on top. If the vegetables were too heavy, they would give customers an extra plastic bag.
After they finally packed up and went home, they had a short meeting. Everyone took notes and shared their feelings.
“We are tired but happy,” said Dalin, “because we gain a lot.”

Living things can live in any environment (环境) if it can meet their needs. They can get what they need from their environment. Their parts can also help them get what they need.
Leaves get sunlight and carbon dioxide.

There are many English proverbs (谚语) about “home”. Here are some of the best.
“ 36 ”
This proverb comes from the song Home Sweet Home. It simply means home is always the best place. 37 , but it’s where love and family can be found. After being away for so long, you will always find there’s no place like home. So if you have been elsewhere for a long time, you can say “There’s no place like home.” as soon as you arrive home to show how you miss your home and parents.
“The longest way round is the shortest way home.”
Though this proverb also has the word “home”, 38 . Sometimes some students do their homework in a really quick way. They may think it’ll save time if they do it as fast as they can. However, if they only care about the speed, it’s easy to make mistakes, and more time will be spent to redo the task. 39 .
“Home is where the heart is.”
Home doesn’t have to be the building that you live in. It is where you most want to be. 40 . It may be the same city they live in now, the city where they grew up, the house where their parents live, or the place where they are raising their family.
A.So slow down, slow is fast
B.it is necessary to do everything as fast as we can

38.前文的“Though this proverb also has the word ‘home’”暗含转折,表示该谚语虽有“家”字但含义不同,E选项“its meaning is not about ‘home’ but about working and studying skills”指出“家”的真实意义,承接了“Though”的内容,也引出下文学生赶作业的例子。
39.前文介绍了求快反而费时间,此处应得出结论要慢下来,A选项“So slow down, slow is fast”中的So表因果,承接上文。
40.结合本段标题“Home is where the heart is.”可知,这里介绍了人们心中的家是怎样的,C选项“Most people have their ‘home’ in their mind”与前面的“heart”呼应,并自然引出后文对“心中的家”的具体列举。
