(地图可在入口附近的信息台获取。)”和“You can download The Met app for digital maps, audio guides, and exhibition info. (你可以下载大都会艺术博物馆应用程序获取数字地图、语音导览和展览信息。)”可知,游客既可以获取实体地图,也可以通过应用程序获取数字地图。所以D项“游客可以获得实体和数字地图”陈述正确。 B Margaret, married with two small children, has been working for the last seven years as a night cleaner, cleaning offices in a big building. She trained as a nurse, but had to give it up when her elder child became seriously ill. “I would have liked to go back to it, but the shifts (工作班次) are all wrong for me, as I have to be home to get the children up and off to school.” So she works as a cleaner instead, from 9 a.m. till 6 a.m. five nights a week for just £90, before tax and insurance. “It’s better than it was last year, but I still think that people who work ‘unsocial hours’ should get a bit extra.” The hours she’ s chosen to work meant that she sees plenty of the children, but very little of her husband. However, she doesn’t think that puts any pressure on their relationship. Her work isn’t physically very hard, but it’s not exactly pleasant, either. “I do get angry with people who leave their offices like a place for raising pigs. If they realized people like me have to do it, perhaps they’d be a bit more careful.” The fact that she’s working all night doesn’t worry Margaret at all. Unlike some dark buildings at night, the building where she works is fully lit, and the women work in groups of three. “Since I’ve got to be here, I try to enjoy myself——and I usually do, because of the other girls. We all have a good laugh, so the time never drags.” Another challenge Margaret has to face is the reaction of other people when she tells them what she does for a living. “They think you’re a cleaner because you don’t know how to read and write,” said Margaret. “I used to think what my parents would say if they knew what I’d been doing, but I don’t think that way any more. I don’t dislike the work though I can’t say I’m mad about it.” 4. Margaret quit her job as a nurse because _______ A. she wanted to earn more money to support her family B. she had suffered a lot of mental pressure C. she needed the right time to look after her children D. she felt tired of taking care of patients 5. Margaret gets angry with people who work in the office because Margaret feels_______. A. they never clean their offices B. they look down upon cleaners C. they never do their work carefully D. they always make a mess in their offices 6. When at work, Margaret feels _______. A. light-hearted because of her fellow workers B. happy because the building is fully lit C. tired because of the heavy workload D. bored because time passed slowly 7. The underlined part in the last paragraph implies that Margaret’s parents would _______. A. help care for her children B. regret what they had said C. show sympathy for her D. feel disappointed in her 【答案】4. C 5. D 6. A 7. D 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了Margaret为了照顾孩子而辞去了护士的工作,去做了清洁工。并介绍了她的新工作情况和其他人对她的看法。 【4题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段“I would have liked to go back to it, but the shifts (工作班次) are all wrong for me, as I have to be home to get the children up and off to school.(我本想回去工作,但轮班对我来说太不合适了,因为我必须回家送孩子们起床和上学。)”可知,她辞职是因为她需要合适的时间来照顾她的孩子。故选C。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第五段“I do get angry with people who leave their offices like a place for raising pigs.(我确实对那些把办公室当成养猪的地方的人很生气。)”可知,玛格丽特对在办公室工作的人很生气,因为玛格丽特觉得他们总是把办公室弄得一团糟。故选D。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第六段“Since I’ve got to be here, I try to enjoy myself——and I usually do, because of the other girls. We all have a good laugh, so the time never drags.(既然我要来这里,我就试着玩得开心——因为其他女孩,我通常都会这样做。我们都笑得很开心,所以时间从不拖拉。)”可知,工作时,玛格丽特因为同事们而感到轻松愉快。故选A。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段““They think you’re a cleaner because you don’t know how to read and write,” said Margaret. “I used to think what my parents would say if they knew what I’d been doing, but I don’t think that way any more.( “他们认为你是清洁工,因为你不会读书写字,”玛格丽特说。“我曾经想过,如果我的父母知道我在做什么,他们会怎么说,但我现在不再这么想了。)”可知,因为其他人认为清洁工的文化很低,而她本可以不做清洁工的,故她认为她的父母会对她感到失望。故选D。 C As we all know, children are fast learners when learning a second language. However, adults can study a second language as fast as children, a new study reports. Adults can develop the increased neural (神经的) connections with language study that can help people stay away from dementia (痴呆) by four years, as well as make traveling a lot easier. In an examination of Spanish second-language learners, the researchers found that after simple training, the brain activity between sentences that depended on grammatical features (特征) unique to each language was similar to that of native speakers. “I think it is the reason why people think university foreign language teaching is good. It shows that, even with limited time in the college classroom, learning can happen quite quickly and well,” said professor Alison Gabriele, the co-author of the paper. Beyond that, it gives parents more reasons to study a second language as part of a family effort. Further research has shown that learning a language as a family effort improves everyone’s abilities and gives opportunities for learning something that are mostly absent from classroom settings. National Geographic reports in an interview with Christine Jernigan, author of Family Language Learning: Learn Another Language, that as for immersion (沉浸) in language study, practicing a second language with people is the most important part, and who talks to each other more than a family? Language learners need to be brave. Besides, they should ready themselves for making mistakes and receive others’ advice. Most people will be far more comfortable making mistakes around family members than in a classroom setting. Furthermore, any home activity, whether that’s gardening, playing in the yard, watching movies, going shopping, cleaning, or cooking a meal, becomes an opportunity for language learning. Jernigan suggests preparing vocabulary before an activity and using it as short homework. Jernigan suggests using subtitles (字幕) too, so you can see which words are being used. 8. What does the new study find? A. Kids often travel a lot with their parents and friends. B. Adults have learnt a second language better than kids. C. Adults can study a second language as quickly as kids. D. Kids are likely to develop increased neural connections. 9. What does Alison Gabriele think of learning a language in the college classroom? A. It can be successful. B. It has limited effect. C. It only focuses on grammar. D. It makes students bored. 10. What is the advantage of learning a language as a family effort? A. Helping kids to form good learning habits. B. Making parents control their kids easily. C. Keeping kids focused on the classroom more. D. Providing learning chances for all family members. 11. What is the author’s attitude toward adults learning a second language? A. Supportive. B. Against. C. Uninterested. D. Doubtful. 【答案】8. C 9. A 10. D 11. A 【解析】 【导语】文章打破“儿童是更好的二语学习者”的传统观念,指出成年人学习第二语言的速度可以和儿童一样快,并重点介绍了家庭式语言学习的优势,最后还给出了具体的练习建议。 【8题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“However, adults can study a second language as fast as children, a new study reports.(然而,一项新研究指出,成年人学习第二语言的速度可以和儿童一样快。)”可知,成年人学二语和儿童一样快。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“It shows that, even with limited time in the college classroom, learning can happen quite quickly and well(这表明,即使在大学课堂上的时间有限,学习也能迅速而有效地进行。)”可知,Alison Gabriele认为大学课堂里的语言学习是可以取得成功的。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段的“Further research has shown that learning a language as a family effort improves everyone’s abilities and gives opportunities for learning something that are mostly absent from classroom settings.(进一步研究表明,全家共同努力学习一门语言,能够提升每个人的语言能力,还能提供一些课堂环境中大多缺失的学习机会。)”可知,家庭共同学习语言能提高每个人的能力并提供学习机会。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段“Adults can develop the increased neural (神经的) connections with language study that can help people stay away from dementia (痴呆) by four years, as well as make traveling a lot easier.(成年人通过学习语言,可以增强神经连接,可将痴呆的发病时间推迟四年,同时也能让旅行变得更加轻松。)”、第三段“Beyond that, it gives parents more reasons to study a second language as part of a family effort.(此外,它还为父母提供了更多理由,让他们作为家庭共同努力的一部分来学习第二语言。)”以及最后两段具体给出家庭学习的方法和建议可推断,通篇都在阐述成年人学二语的益处和积极可能性,并给出实用建议鼓励大家去实践,可见作者持支持(Supportive)态度。 D Read Across America (RAA) is a day held annually on March 2nd that encourages children in every community to read and also encourages parents and teachers to celebrate the joy of reading. It’s a holiday that has been celebrated since 1998 and falls on the same day as children’s book author Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This holiday dates back to May of 1997. This is when a small group of people at the National Education Association (NEA) came up with the idea to create a day of the year that celebrates reading among children. They reasoned that since many school football programs could get children engaged in the sport through pep rallies (鼓舞士气的集会), then why couldn’t the same thing be done for reading? So they decided to turn to a Read Across America program that was officially launched on March 2, 1998, and ever since it has continued to grow in size. Today, more than 50 national nonprofit and association sponsors and more than 3.3 million NEA members support the effort every year. This holiday is celebrated in many ways. All over the country, libraries, schools and community centers hold special Read Across America events that promote reading in their communities. Teachers also develop special events on this day to encourage their students to read. The NEA also sponsors reading round tables and has an online store that allows people to buy everything they need for their RAA celebrations. This includes Dr. Seuss hats, RAA bookmarks, special RAA flash drives and even RAA mugs. While recommended student reading lists vary from community to community, there are some books that always seem to pop up. Below is a partial list of some of the books read by elementary, middle school and high school students. 12. What inspired NEA to come up with RAA? A. Millions of NEA members’ support. B. School football programs’ practice. C. The NEA members’ love for reading. D. American local official’s encouragement. 13. The underlined word “sponsors” in Paragraph 2 most probably means ______. A. supporters. B. participants. C. volunteers. D. visitors. 14. How do people celebrate Read Across America according to the text? A. The NEA only holds reading round tables for local community members. B. Schools organize football matches to get students interested in reading. C. Teachers mainly sell various RAA products to their students at school. D. Different public places hold activities and people can buy themed goods online. 15. What may be talked about following the last paragraph? A. The promising future of RAA. B. The awards given to the children. C. Student reading list recommended. D. Parents and teachers’ praise for the program. 【答案】12. B 13. A 14. D 15. C 【解析】 【导语】文章介绍了美国的全民阅读日Read Across America (RAA),讲述了它的起源、创办灵感、举办方式,还提到了学生推荐阅读书单。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“They reasoned that since many school football programs could get children engaged in the sport through pep rallies (鼓舞士气的集会), then why couldn’t the same thing be done for reading? (他们的理由是,既然许多学校的足球项目可以通过动员集会让孩子们参与到这项运动中来,那么为什么不能对阅读做同样的事情呢?)”可知,NEA是受到学校足球项目活动形式的启发,想出创办RAA这个活动。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段“Today, more than 50 national nonprofit and association sponsors and more than 3.3 million NEA members support the effort every year. (如今,每年有50多个全国性非营利组织及协会sponsors ,还有330多万NEA成员为此项活动提供支持。)”可知,and连接并列对象,“support (支持)”提示sponsors是提供支持的组织,与A选项supporters (支持者)意义相近。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“All over the country, libraries, schools and community centers hold special Read Across America events (全国各地的图书馆、学校以及社区中心都会举办特别的全美阅读日活动)”及“The NEA also sponsors reading round tables and has an online store that allows people to buy everything they need for their RAA celebrations. (NEA还主办阅读圆桌会,并且设有网上商店,人们可以在上面购买举办RAA庆祝活动所需的全部物品。)”可知,各地不同公共场所举办活动,人们还可以在线购买主题商品。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Below is a partial list of some of the books read by elementary, middle school and high school students. (以下是小学、初中和高中学生阅读的部分书籍清单。)”可知,本段引出学生推荐阅读书单,下文很可能介绍推荐给学生的阅读书目。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to eat like the Spanish One of the best things about visiting Spain is the foodie culture. My articles were filled with simple sentences and all kinds of grammar mistakes, so I often got low marks in every English exam. Every time the teacher handed out exam papers, I would quickly cover my paper, afraid that my classmates would see my terrible scores. Watching them get high marks without much effort, I felt deeply upset and helpless. Little by little, I even made up my mind to give up English writing completely. Luckily, my English teacher soon noticed my bad mood. Instead of blaming me for my poor performance, she stayed after class and talked with me patiently. She told me that valuable progress never comes in a short time, and sticking to daily practice is the most useful way to get through all kinds of difficulties. Her warm words brought me a little hope again. Encouraged by what she said, I decided to make a real change. I bought a thick notebook to write down beautiful sentences and useful expressions from Reader’s Digest every day. After finishing my schoolwork, I rewrote my compositions again and again. Each afternoon after class, I went to her office and handed my revised articles to her to correct all my mistakes. I reviewed these marked points every night to avoid making the same errors next time. However, two months of steady hard work did not bring me better results. Staring at the disappointing paper covered with red lines, I lost all my confidence once more. I could not help wondering if all my time and effort meant nothing at all. 注意: 1. 续写词数应在150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1 One afternoon, I wandered into my teacher’s office with tears welling up in my eyes. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2 Months later, the city-wide English examination arrived. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Paragraph 1 One afternoon, I wandered into my teacher’s office with tears welling up in my eyes. I told her honestly that I planned to give up English writing, because my daily practice failed to bring satisfying scores and left me discouraged. My teacher comforted me patiently and pointed out my silent progress in grammar and expression that I had ignored. Encouraged by her warm words, I adjusted my study methods. I sorted out all my writing mistakes, memorized useful sentences, and revised my old compositions over and over again. I kept practicing steadily, hoping to make real progress step by step. Paragraph 2 Months later, the city-wide English examination arrived. Sitting in the exam room, I felt worried at first, fearing I might make stupid mistakes. However, all the skills and expressions I had practiced hard came to my mind naturally. I organized my ideas logically, finished the composition smoothly and checked every sentence carefully. After the exam, I felt unusually peaceful and confident. When the results came out, I was delighted to find my writing score improved greatly. I learned that constant perseverance is the key to progress, and no sincere effort will ever go to waste. 词汇激活 行为类 ①调整:adjust/modify/adapt ②修改:revise/polish 情绪类 ①担忧的:worried/anxious ②喜悦的:delighted/thrilled/overjoyed 【点睛】【高分句型1】I told her honestly that I planned to give up English writing, because my daily practice failed to bring satisfying scores and left me discouraged.(运用了that引导的宾语从句,because引导的状语从句) 【高分句型2】My teacher comforted me patiently and pointed out my silent progress in grammar and expression that I had ignored.(运用了that引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 白银十中高一年级英语学科训练 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话读两遍。 1. A. help care for her children B. regret what they had said C. show sympathy for her D. feel disappointed in her C As we all know, children are fast learners when learning a second language. D. Doubtful. D Read Across America (RAA) is a day held annually on March 2nd that encourages children in every community to read and also encourages parents and teachers to celebrate the joy of reading. D. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
