Welcome Remarks
Hello, my wonderful students! This is our final lesson of Unit 6. We read about Henry and his pigeons, mastered the lively -ing tense, met the hero rescue dog Bingjie, and heard the dodo's sad but important story. Today is the day we have been waiting for — we will present our picture books about amazing animals! Then we will look back at everything we have learned together. I can already see your colourful picture books on the desks, and I know every group has worked so hard. Remember: presenting is not a test, it is a gift you share with the class. So smile, speak proudly, and let us celebrate our amazing animal friends. Are you ready? Let us begin!
Ⅰ. Lead-in: task review
Let us review what a great picture book needs. We need an introduction: "This picture book is about...". A body with facts: where it lives, how big it grows, and its special skills. And a closing with our feelings: "We should try our best to help them." Remember the language tips: "It can...", "It has a good sense of...", "It's our best friend." Let us warm up with a chant: animals, animals, our good friends, we will love them till the end! Again! Great energy. Now, which groups are ready? I see all your hands shooting up — wonderful!
Ⅱ. Preparation
Take two minutes. Each group chooses a presenter and practises the first sentence together. Use: "Welcome! This picture book is about the... It lives in... It can...". You may

point at your beautiful pictures as you speak. Go! (The teacher walks around and listens to each group quietly.)
Teacher: "Group One, lovely opening, your pictures are bright and clear. Group Two, speak a little louder, so the back row can hear you. Group Three, remember to smile and look at your friends in the audience. Group Four, your title is wonderful. Now, take a deep breath and smile. You are all ready, and I am very proud of you."
Ⅲ. Presentation and voting
Now the moment! Group One, please come to the front and present your picture book. The rest of us, listen carefully, look at the bright pictures, and be ready to vote at the end. A good listener is a kind friend. Go ahead, Group One!"
Group One: "Our picture book is about the dolphin. It lives in the sea. It can swim very fast and it can help people. It has a good sense of sound. We think the dolphin is our best friend in the sea. Thank you!"
Teacher: "Wow! A beautiful picture book, and you used It can... and It lives in... perfectly. I loved that you pointed at your photos as you spoke. Group Two, your turn!"
Group Two: "Our book is about the elephant. It lives in Africa. It grows to about three metres tall. It has a long nose and it never forgets. We should try our best to help elephants. Thank you!"
Teacher: "Excellent! Such important facts and a caring closing. Group Three, your turn!"
Group Three: "Our book is about the panda. It lives in China. It eats bamboo. It is black and white and so cute. We should protect pandas and their forests. Thank you!"
Teacher: "Lovely! The panda is our national treasure, and your pictures are beautiful. Group Four, our last presenters, come on up!"
Group Four: "Our book is about the dog. It lives with people. It can help blind people and rescue people in disasters. It has a good sense of smell. The dog is truly our best friend. Thank you!"
Teacher: "What a perfect ending! You remembered Bingjie, our hero rescue dog, and you spoke about every animal with so much love. I loved every single presentation — the bright pictures, the clear facts and your brave voices. Now, vote for the best three picture books and the best three presentations. Close your eyes, think about which group told the clearest facts and spoke the most confidently. ... The winners are Group One, Group Two and Group Three! Big applause to all our presenters — you were all amazing today!"
Ⅳ. Reflection
Now let us reflect on our whole unit. Look at the reflection mind map: "Our relationship with animals". We need to learn about animals so we understand them. Animals can help us in so many ways, from rescue dogs to guide dogs. And we need to protect animals, because many of them are in danger. Let us self-assess on a scale of one to three, one is excellent, two is good, three is not yet. Can you describe our relationship with animals? Can you use the present continuous? Can you explain why we need to protect animal friends? Who wants to share? Yes, please!"
Students: "I can describe animals well, but I still sometimes forget the -ing spelling, like running."
Teacher: "Honest and brave! We will review the -ing spelling with a quick chant next lesson. Who else wants to share your self-assessment?"
