The nonprofit Urban Homestead Institute was established in 2001 to provide food boxes for ____2____ families and welcome students to see how real food is grown — a program that started after Dervaes encouraged his daughter Ann to try a new thing called ____3____ in 2000. Dervaes thought they could write on the Internet about their simple life. As it turned out, teachers from Compton High School asked if they could bring students to ____4____ the farm and Ann has done outreach ever since. Dervaes died in 2016 from a pulmonary embolism (肺栓塞), but his four children kept building on his vision. They still work to provide ____5____ and flowers to more than 100 poverty-stricken families every week, with beds of spinach (菠菜), dandelions and sunflowers. Dervaes’ children aren’t getting rich, but they’re making ends meet, thanks to few ____6____ and the courage to experiment. The family installed a greywater system that keeps their water bill under $1.00 a year. They even recycled cooking oil to ____7____ their own truck. Reflecting on their lifestyle, the four children believed it wasn’t always ____8____. They became a vegetarian household when they were very young. The neighborhood kids laughed at them about what they were ____9____ — Nikes, hamburgers and sodas. But the youngest daughter, Jordanne, said, “It wasn’t like dad forced us to do so. Actually, he always encouraged us to question everything. Besides, we had duties. There was a sense of mission in growing all these plants, and the business was ours.” “We live a farming lifestyle in the city, so we look at things ____10____, and most city dwellers don’t always understand,” Ann said. “But this is our livelihood; this is our life.” 1. A There are many ways to get involved and volunteer at the National Museum of American History. Becoming a Museum Ambassador is one of them. To learn more about this volunteer program, please see the descriptions below. Museum Ambassadors at the American History Museum are a mobile source of information that helps bridge the gap between two other volunteer groups here at the museum — information desk specialists, who provide orientation (方向) assistance when guests arrive, and volunteer docents (讲师), who provide Highlights tours, facilitate hands-on demonstrations and circulate through many of our exhibitions to interact with visitors. Each year, our Museum Ambassadors help over 100,000 people get the most out of their visits by welcoming groups, circulating throughout the museum's public zones to answer basic questions, and directing visitors to programs and exhibitions of interest. The museum has also employed the Museum Ambassadors to assist with special projects and events as needed. To learn more about what Museum Ambassadors do, check out what Larry has said, “As museum ambassadors, we get to share in the curiosity of a child, the nostalgia (怀旧) of returning visitors, the treasure hunt of students assigned to find important historical objects, and the amazement of those experiencing our eye on the nation's history for the first time. We can help recommend a meaningful museum visit just for you. There's more. We're also traffic cops when elevators and escalators break and extra eyes for museum security." If you enjoy… •interacting with diverse audiences, age groups and learning styles. •working in an often busy and changing environment. If you have… •strong interpersonal and communication skills. •an interest in history and communication. Granted, it’s a tough age for any teen, but dealing with a life-changing disability made things even more challenging. “It took me about eight months to kind of regroup myself,” she told TODAY, “and then I got it in my head, ‘Okay, I’m blind. Now what am I going to do with my life?’” A Long Island native, Pagonis practically grew up in the water. She’d taken up competitive freestyle swimming just a few months prior to going totally blind. While she excelled at the sport with limited vision, an “abusive team” atmosphere prompted her to quit competition. After months of therapy, however, the persistent teen was ready to get back in the swim — only swimming wasn’t enough for Pagonis. She wanted to compete. Now she was faced with another dilemma. “Nobody wanted to train the blind girl,” she recalled in an interview with TEAM USA. “I ended up after about eight months finding an amazing coach who was willing to train me and actually put on blackout goggles to try to figure out a way for me to swim.” By the age of 16, Pagonis was earning a reputation as a fierce competitor, taking two gold medals at the World Para Swimming World Series in Australia. When Pagonis realized her experiences and positive outlook might be a boon (益处)to others, she eagerly stepped up as a role model. “I want to help people the way I needed help,” Pagonis told TEAM USA. “I started doing Instagram and social media and was soon getting a bunch of replies saying, ‘Wow! You really helped me get through bad things,’ or, ‘I was getting bullied in school and you helped me get through that,’ or, ‘You let me know how much I was worth.’” Back in the water, Pagonis was truly in her element. “It’s my happy place,” she told TODAY. “It’s the place where I feel like I don’t have a disability and I feel like that’s the only place where I feel free. When I dive in the water, it’s just me in the pool and I feel such a connection with it. Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith because if you don’t try, you don’t know. Always follow your dreams.” 24. What difficulty did Pagonis face after she quit competition? A. She had to wear goggles. B. It was hard to find her a coach. C. Her skills weren’t useful in darkness. D. She couldn’t do the freestyle anymore. 25. It can be learnt from the passage that Pagonis ______. A. stopped swimming for two years B. improved her vision by swimming C. helped many people through difficulties D. devoted herself to fighting against bullies 26. What does the story mainly tell us? A. Team spirit is vital for winning. B. Role models make us who we are. C. A good teacher is the key to success. D. Disability does not limit one’s success. 【答案】24. B 25. C 26. D 【解析】 【导语】文章主要讲述残奥运动员阿纳斯塔西娅·帕戈尼斯失明后不畏困境坚持游泳,取得佳绩并激励他人成长的励志故事。 【24题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段中的“Nobody wanted to train the blind girl,” she recalled in an interview with TEAM USA. “I ended up after about eight months finding an amazing coach who was willing to train me and actually put on blackout goggles to try to figure out a way for me to swim.(“没人愿意训练这个失明的女孩,”她在接受TEAM USA采访时回忆道。“大约八个月后,我终于找到了一位很棒的教练,他愿意训练我,还戴上遮光护目镜,努力摸索适合我的游泳方式。”)”可知,帕戈尼斯退出比赛之后遇到的困难是很难找到愿意训练她的教练。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第六段中的““I started doing Instagram and social media and was soon getting a bunch of replies saying, ‘Wow! You really helped me get through bad things,’ or, ‘I was getting bullied in school and you helped me get through that,’ or, ‘You let me know how much I was worth.’”(“我开始玩照片墙和社交媒体,不久就收到一大堆回复,上面写着:‘哇!你真的帮我熬过了那些难熬的事’,或者‘我在学校遭到霸凌,是你帮我挺过来的’,又或者‘是你让我知道自己有多宝贵’。”)”可知,帕戈尼斯帮助很多人渡过困境。 【26题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“Paralympian Anastasia Pagonis’ remarkable success story began when she lost her vision at age 14.(残奥运动员阿纳斯塔西娅·帕戈尼斯非凡的成功故事始于她14岁失明之时。)”以及第七段中的“Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith because if you don’t try, you don’t know. Always follow your dreams.(有时你需要勇敢一搏,不去尝试就永远没有答案,永远追随自己的梦想。)”可知,文章讲述主人公身有残疾却奋力追梦收获成功,告诉我们残疾并不能限制一个人取得成功。 C Pioneers like Harvard social ecologist Stephen Kellert were among the first to champion modern biophilic design. Kellert believed that weaving nature into living and workspaces is critical for good physical and mental health. Humans have evolved to gravitate towards nature, Kellert noted. His principles include access to natural light, air, water, and plants. Using materials such as wood and stone, biophilic designs such as leaf or shell patterns help humans to feel closer to nature. Biophilic designs can be seen all over the world. Examples include the Changi Airport in Singapore, with its four-storey forest garden and world’s largest indoor waterfall fed by rainwater, and the Swedish Mirror Cube Tree House Hotel, mainly made of used plywood and a lightweight aluminum frame wrapped around a tree. Incredible biophilic homes include One Central Park in Sydney, apartment blocks featuring hanging gardens on the outside. The buildings recycle their own water and a suspended (悬浮的) motorized mirror system reflects sunlight down onto gardens below. Milan’s Bosco Vertical block is perhaps even more eye-catching with its vertical forest. Putting biophilic design to work for society could prevent millions in healthcare costs, with one study estimating annual savings of $93 million in the US alone. Hospital design in particular has historically been influenced by access to sunlight and views of nature. Modern buildings like the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore, with its position next to the waterfall of the Yishun Pond, are closely linked with their surroundings. The hospital channels outdoor air to cool the inside, and uses reflective sunshades to direct light into the wards to brighten them and save energy. The aim of these designs is to emphasize the human connection to nature by integrating buildings with the local environment. But how do we bring biophilia into our homes? Start with house plants. New smart home apps can also provide sensory nature experiences such as birdsong and a projected forest canopy, helping people to carve out a restful space indoors. But perhaps the best way to transform society with biophilic designs is to start with schools. Children learn better and feel more relaxed in biophilic settings. So the Children and Nature Network is working with schools across the US to create green schoolyards for better physical and mental health and to increase opportunities for outdoor learning. Biophilic designers are bringing nature into classrooms through natural patterns, shapes and colors, nature photography, artwork and materials like timber and stone. Fresh air flow, green walls, and aquariums all become part of a recipe for improving health and academic success. 27. According to the passage, what does Stephen Kellert probably believe? A. Humans’ inborn love for nature won’t be lessened. B. Nature can improve people’s sense of responsibility. C. Humans need to appreciate and make good use of nature. D. Natural materials have taken priority in modern building designs. 28. What do the examples of biophilic designs in the passage have in common? A. They apply smart home technology. B. They promote sustainable development. C. They include waterfalls and gardens inside. D. They use local resources to cut the cost of buildings. 29. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs? A. Biophilic designs have greatly transformed schools. B. Biophilic designs help improve students’ performance. C. Biophilic designs focus mainly on students’ mental health. D. Biophilic designs have moved most of the classrooms outside. 30. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage? A. Let’s Invite Nature Inside B. Live Naturally and Simply C. The Best Natural Building Designer D. Ups and Downs of Natural Buildings 【答案】27. C 28. B 29. B 30. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要举例子介绍了一些将自然融入生活、工作和学习中的亲生态设计,这种亲生态设计对人们的身心健康带来很大好处。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“Humans have evolved to gravitate towards nature, Kellert noted. but if we don't develop that impulse it fades. So his principles include access to natural light, air, water. plants, and gardens. Using materials such as wood and stone, natural designs such as leaf or shell patterns, and earthy colors also helps humans to feel closer to nature.(Kellert注意到,人类已经进化到被大自然吸引的地步。但如果我们不培养这种冲动,它就会消失。所以他的原则是要接近自然光,空气,水,植物和花园。使用木材和石头等材料,设计像树叶或贝壳等自然图案,以及使用朴实的颜色,这些也有助于人类感觉更接近大自然)”可推断出,Stephen Kellert可能认为人类需要欣赏和充分利用大自然。故选C项。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段第两句“Examples include the Changi Airport in Singapore, with its four-storey forest garden and world’s largest indoor waterfall fed by rainwater, and the Swedish Mirror Cube Tree House Hotel, mainly made of used plywood and a lightweight aluminum frame wrapped around a tree.(例如新加坡樟宜机场,有四层的森林花园和世界上最大的室内瀑布,由雨水灌溉;瑞典镜子立方树屋酒店,主要由用过的胶合板和包裹在一棵树上的轻质铝框架建成。)”和第四段最后两句“ Modern buildings like the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore, with its position next to the waterfall of the Yishun Pond, are closely linked with their surroundings. The hospital channels outdoor air to cool the inside, and uses reflective sunshades to direct light into the wards to brighten them and save energy.(新加坡的邱德普医院就坐落在一顺池瀑布旁,与周围环境紧密相连。医院引导室外空气冷却室内,并使用反射式遮阳伞将光线引导进病房,使病房变亮并节约能源。)”可推断出,文章列举的这些亲生态设计的共同点就是,它们都有助于促进可持续发展。故选B项。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段第二句“Children learn better and feel more relaxed in biophilic settings.(在生态环境中,孩子们学得更好,感觉更放松)”和最后一段最后一句“Fresh air flow, green walls, and aquariums all become part of a recipe for improving health and academic success.(流动的新鲜空气,绿色的墙壁,水族馆这些都成为改善健康和学术成功的一部分)”可知,亲生态设计有助于改善学生在学校的表现。故选B项。 【30题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段第一句“Biophilic designers are bringing nature into classrooms through natural patterns, shapes and colors, nature photography, artwork and materials like timber and stone.(热爱生物的设计师通过自然的图案、形状和颜色、自然摄影、艺术作品以及木材和石头等材料将自然带入教室。)”结合全文可知,文章主要举例子介绍了一些将自然融入生活,工作和学习中的亲生态设计,这种亲生态设计对人们的身心健康带来很大好处。由此可推断出,A选项“Let’s Invite Nature Inside(让我们邀请大自然进来)”最适合作文章标题。故选A项。 D Quantum ( 量子 ) computers have been on my mind a lot lately. A friend has been sending me articles on how quantum computers might help solve some of the biggest challenges we face as humans. I’ve also had exchanges with two quantum-computing experts. One is computer scientist Chris Johnson who I see as someone who helps keep the field honest. The other is physicist Philip Taylor. For decades, quantum computing has been little more than a laboratory curiosity. Now, big tech companies have invested in quantum computing, as have many smaller ones. According to Business Weekly, quantum machines could help us “cure cancer, and even take steps to turn climate change in the opposite direction.” This is the sort of hype ( 炒作 ) that annoys Johnson. He worries that researchers are making promises they can’t keep. “What’s new,” Johnson wrote, “is that millions of dollars are now potentially available to quantum computing researchers.” As quantum computing attracts more attention and funding, researchers may mislead investors, journalists, the public and, worst of all, themselves about their work’s potential. If researchers can’t keep their promises, excitement might give way to doubt, disappointment and anger, Johnson warns. Lots of other technologies have gone through stages of excitement. But something about quantum computing makes it especially prone to hype, Johnson suggests, perhaps because “‘quantum’ stands for something cool you shouldn’t be able to understand.” And that brings me back to Taylor, who suggested that I read his book Q for Quantum. After I read the book, Taylor patiently answered my questions about it. He also answered my questions about PyQuantum, the firm he co-founded in 2016. Taylor shares Johnson’s concerns about hype, but he says those concerns do not apply to PyQuantum. The company, he says, is closer than any other firm “by a very large margin ( 幅度 )” to building a “useful” quantum computer, one that “solves an impactful problem that we would not have been able to solve otherwise.” He adds, “People will naturally discount my opinions, but I have spent a lot of time quantitatively comparing what we are doing with others.” Could PyQuantum really be leading all the competition “by a wide margin”, as Taylor claims? I don’t know. I’m certainly not going to advise my friend or anyone else to invest in quantum computers. But I trust Taylor, just as I trust Johnson. 31. Regarding Johnson’s concerns, the author feels ________. A. sympathetic B. unconcerned C. doubtful D. excited 32. What leads to Taylor’s optimism about quantum computing? A. His dominance in physics. B. The competition in the field. C. His confidence in PyQuantum. D. The investment of tech companies. 33. What does the underlined word “prone” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean? A. Open. B. Cool. C. Useful. D. Resistant. 34. Which would be the best title for the passage? A. Is Johnson More Competent Than Taylor? B. Is Quantum Computing Redefining Technology? C. Will Quantum Computers Ever Come into Being? D. Will Quantum Computing Ever Live Up to Its Hype? 【答案】31. A 32. C 33. A 34. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。主要论述了“量子计算真的会像它的宣传那样成功吗?”,计算机科学家克里斯·约翰逊和物理学家菲利普·泰勒分别阐明了自己的观点。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三自然段“As quantum computing attracts more attention and funding, researchers may mislead investors, journalists, the public and, worst of all, themselves about their work’s potential. If researchers can’t keep their promises, excitement might give way to doubt, disappointment and anger, Johnson warns. 故选A。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“The company, he says, is closer than any other firm “by a very large margin ( 幅度 )” to building a “useful” quantum computer, one that “solves an impactful problem that we would not have been able to solve otherwise.” He adds, “People will naturally discount my opinions, but I have spent a lot of time quantitatively comparing what we are doing with others.”( 他说,这家公司比其他任何公司都“在很大程度上”接近于制造出“有用的”量子计算机,它“解决了一个有影响力的问题,否则我们无法解决这个问题”。他补充说:“人们自然会不相信我的观点,但我已经花了很多时间来定量地比较我们与他人的做法)”可知,泰勒对量子计算的乐观来源于他对PyQuantum的信心。故选C。 【33题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第三自然段“But something about quantum computing makes it especially prone to hype, Johnson suggests, perhaps because “‘quantum’ stands for something cool you shouldn’t be able to understand.”( 但约翰逊表明,量子计算的某些方面使得它特别 prone被炒作,可能是因为“量子”代表了一些你不应该理解的酷东西。”)”可知,本句中含有一个原因状语从句,因为““量子”代表了一些你不应该理解的酷东西”,所以它特别容易被炒作。故prone意为“易于……的”。A. Open.开放的;易受损害的;B. Cool. 酷的;C. Useful. 有用的;D. Resistant. 有抵抗力的。故选A。 【34题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二自然段“Now, big tech companies have invested in quantum computing, as have many smaller ones. According to Business Weekly, quantum machines could help us “cure cancer, and even take steps to turn climate change in the opposite direction. This is the sort of hype ( 炒作 ) that annoys Johnson.”( 现在,大型科技公司和许多小型公司都在量子计算领域进行了投资。据《商业周刊》报道,量子机器可以帮助我们“治愈癌症,甚至采取措施将气候变化转向相反的方向。这种炒作让约翰逊感到恼火。”)”以及最后一段“Could PyQuantum really be leading all the competition “by a wide margin”, as Taylor claims? I don’t know. I’m certainly not going to advise my friend or anyone else to invest in quantum computers.(PyQuantum真的能像泰勒所说的那样“以巨大的优势”领先所有竞争对手吗? How Sociologists Define Culture Culture is one of the most important concepts within sociology because sociologists recognize that it plays a crucial role in our social lives. It is important for shaping social relationships, maintaining and challenging social order, determining how we make sense of the world and our place in it, and in shaping our everyday actions and experiences in society.____35____ In brief, sociologists define the non–material aspects of culture as the values and beliefs, language, communication and practices that are shared in common by a group of people. Expanding on these categories, culture is made up of our knowledge, common sense, assumptions and expectations. It is also the rules, norms, laws and morals that govern society; the words we use as well as how we speak and write them; and the symbols we use to express meaning, ideas and concepts.____36____It informs and is encapsulated in how we walk, sit, carry our bodies and interact with others; how we behave depending on the place, time and “audience”; and how we express identities of race, class and gender, among others. Culture includes the collective practices we participate in as well, such as religious ceremonies, the celebration of secular holidays and attending sporting events. ____37____This aspect of culture includes a wide variety of things, from buildings, technological gadgets and clothing, to film, music, literature and art, among others. Aspects of material culture are more commonly referred to as cultural products. Sociologists see the two sides of culture—the material and non–material—as closely connected. Material culture emerges from and is shaped by the non-material aspects of culture.____38____But it is not a one–way relationship between material and non–material culture. Material culture can also influence the non-material aspects of culture. For example, a powerful documentary film might change people’s attitudes and beliefs.____39____What has come before in terms of music, film, television and art, for example, influences the values, beliefs and expectations of those who interact with them, which then, in turn, influence the creation of additional cultural products. A. This is why cultural products tend to follow patterns. B. It is composed of both non-material and material things. C. Without culture, we would not have relationships or society. D. Culture is also what we do and how we behave and perform. E. Material culture is composed of the things that humans make and use. F. Culture is distinct from social structure and economic aspects of society. G. In other words, what we value, believe and know influences the things that we make. 【答案】35. B 36. D 37. E 38. G 39. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了社会学概念中文化的各种形式以及内容。 【35题详解】 前文提到“It is important for shaping social relationships, maintaining and challenging social order, determining how we make sense of the world and our place in it, and in shaping our everyday actions and experiences in society.(它对塑造社会关系、维护和挑战社会秩序、决定我们如何理解世界和我们在其中的地位、塑造我们在社会中的日常行为和经验都很重要。)”,后文提到“In brief, sociologists define the non–material aspects of culture as the values and beliefs, language, communication and practices that are shared in common by a group of people.(简而言之,社会学家将文化的非物质方面定义为一群人共有的价值观、信仰、语言、交流和实践。)”社会学家提到了文化在非物质方面表现为价值观、信仰、语言等,由此可知文化在社会学表现为物质和非物质方面。B项“It is composed of both non-material and material things.”(它由非物质的和物质的东西组成。)该项可作为第一段的段尾句同时引起第二段关于文化两个方面的内容,起到承上启下的作用。故选B。 【36题详解】 后文提到“It informs and is encapsulated in how we walk, sit, carry our bodies and interact with others; how we behave depending on the place, time and “audience”; and how we express identities of race, class and gender, among others. (它体现在我们走路、坐着、抬着身体以及与他人互动的方式中;我们的行为取决于地点、时间和“观众”;以及我们如何表达种族、阶级和性别等身份。)”由此判断,人们的一些行为也是根据文化本身而进行的。D项“Culture is also what we do and how we behave and perform.”(文化也是我们所做的以及我们的行为和表现。)该项提到的“行为和表现”对应后文中出现的“走路、坐着、互动方式”等,起到承上启下的作用。故选D。 【37题详解】 第三段第二句提到“This aspect of culture includes a wide variety of things, from buildings, technological gadgets and clothing, to film, music, literature and art, among others.(这方面的文化包括各种各样的东西,从建筑、科技产品和服装,到电影、音乐、文学和艺术等等。)”能通过建筑、科技等方式体现的文化指的是文化的物质方面,E项“Material culture is composed of the things that humans make and use.”(物质文化是由人类制造和使用的东西组成的。)该项提到的“由人类制造和使用的东西”指的是后文中提到的“建筑、科技产品、服装”等。由此判断该项起到引起后文的作用。故选E。 【38题详解】 前文提到“Material culture emerges from and is shaped by the non-material aspects of culture.(物质文化产生于文化的非物质方面,并受其塑造。)”文化的物质和非物质方面是相互影响的,尤其是非物质方面会影响物质方面,G项“In other words, what we value, believe and know influences the things that we make.”(换句话说,我们所重视的、相信的和知道的影响着我们所做的事情)由此判断,该项中提到的“what we value, believe and know ”(我们所重视的、相信的和知道的)即为文化的非物质方面,该项起到承上启下的作用,故选G。 【39题详解】 前文提到“ a powerful documentary film might change people’s attitudes and beliefs.”(一部好的纪录片可能会改变人的态度和信仰),且后文提到“What has come before in terms of music, film, television and art, for example, influences the values, beliefs and expectations of those who interact with them, which then, in turn, influence the creation of additional cultural products.”(例如,之前在音乐、电影、电视和艺术方面出现的东西影响着与之互动的人的价值观、信仰和期望,而这些价值观、信仰和期望又反过来影响着其他文化产品的创造。)音乐、电影、电视等方面出现的都是属于文化产品,而价值观、信仰和期望又会对文化产品的创造产生影响。由此判断文化产品的产生也是受一定价值观、信仰等方面的影响。A项“This is why cultural products tend to follow patterns.”(这就是为什么文化产品倾向于遵循模式。)起到承上启下的作用,符合文意。故选A。 第三部分:书面表达(共两节,32分) 第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共12分) 阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英文回答问题。 Finding and keeping friends is a skill that can take some time to develop. From around the age of four, children develop an understanding that other people may have thoughts, interests and feelings that are different to theirs. This emerging capacity, known as Theory of Mind, helps children make friends, says Eileen Kennedy-Moore, a clinical psychologist. “They become better at imagining someone else’s perspective and this stimulates more intimate (亲密的) friendships.” Children often have a practical view of friendship, forming close bonds with peers in the playground or classroom, says Kennedy-Moore. “It is a ‘love the one you’re with’ approach.” “The thing that kids have as an advantage over adults is that they are in the room with 25 others in their stage of life,” she says. “In adulthood it takes thoughtful effort to find and develop friendships.” According to one study, adults must spend around 50 hours together to go from mere acquaintance (相识的人) to a casual friend, 90 hours together before they consider each other as friends, and more than 200 hours to become close friends who share an emotional connection. Psychologists say best friendships can help children prepare for close relationships, including romantic ones, as they grow up. “Best friendship is really like falling in love, “says Kennedy-Moore. “Close friendships in childhood help kids practice the skills they need in intimate relationships throughout their lives. They learn about other people, and about themselves, to deal with feelings like envy, loneliness, and sadness.” “If children don’t talk about friends at home, it doesn’t mean they don’t have any,” she says, adding that this may because they prefer a quieter style of interacting with others. Parents can help their children in developing friendships by organizing fun meet-ups outside of school. “The formula is: watch then get involved.” says Kennedy-Moore. “Parents should teach their children to watch what other children are doing, then encourage them to slide into the action without interrupting.” 40. What capacity do children develop from about the age of four according to Kennedy-Moore? 41. What is the disadvantage for adults to develop friendships compared with children? 42. Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why. Parents can support their children in forming friendships by organizing fun meet-ups outside of school and correcting them from time to time. 43. List some other ways you usually use to develop or maintain your friendship.(In about 40 words) 【答案】40. Children develop an understanding that other people may have thoughts, interests and feelings that are different to theirs. 41. It takes thoughtful effort more time to find and develop friendships. 42. Parents can support their children in forming friendships by organizing fun meet-ups outside of school and correcting them from time to time. According to the passage, parents should encourage their children to watch and slide into the action without interrupting instead of correcting them from time to time. 43. I will directly tell my friends that I want to talk with them and spend time with them. Besides, when they are talking, I will listen to them carefully. Most importantly, I will let them know that I am trustworthy and that we can become closer friends. 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了发展和维持友谊是一项需要时间培养的技能,童年时期的亲密友谊有助于孩子的成长,家长可以采取方式帮助孩子建立友谊。 【40题详解】 考查细节理解。根据第二段“From around the age of four, children develop an understanding that other people may have thoughts, interests and feelings that are different to theirs. C Pioneers like Harvard social ecologist Stephen Kellert were among the first to champion modern biophilic design. A. 第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How Sociologists Define Culture Culture is one of the most important concepts within sociology because sociologists recognize that it plays a crucial role in our social lives. 第三部分:书面表达(共两节,32分) 第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共12分) 阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英文回答问题。 Finding and keeping friends is a skill that can take some time to develop. 43. List some other ways you usually use to develop or maintain your friendship.(In about 40 words) 第二节(20分) 44. 假设你是红星中学高三学生李华。你的外国好友Jim即将参加主题为“Skills Needed for a Sustainable Future”的联合国青年论坛(UN Youth Forum),为此发来邮件,就发言内容询问你的想法。请你用英文给他回复,内容包括: 1.你认为重要的技能; 2.说明理由。 注意:1.词数100左右; 2.开头和结尾已给出,不计入总词数。 Dear Jim, ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
