Miss Gao: It tells us more about a noun. Here it tells us which man.
Ben: 2.____________
Miss Gao: The antecedent is “the man”, so we use who.
Ben: And if the antecedent is a thing?
Miss Gao: Then we use which, or that.
Ben: 3.____________
Miss Gao: Yes, when it is the object of the clause. But not when it is the subject.
Ben: 4.____________
Miss Gao: Because the antecedent is “the only person”. After words like that, we prefer that.
Ben: 5.____________
Miss Gao: One person. And a singular antecedent takes a singular verb: “The man who invented ... was”.

In Miss Gao's class, the students are learning to describe great people with relative clauses. In 1968, a sixth prize, in economics, was added by the Swedish central bank. / The prizes quickly became the most famous honour that a scientist or writer can receive. Marie Curie, who won the physics prize in 1903, also received the chemistry prize in 1911—still the only person who has won in two sciences. Malala Yousafzai, who was only seventeen, received the peace prize in 2014. / Nowadays the ceremonies are held on 10 December, the day Nobel died. The peace prize is given in Oslo, and the others in Stockholm. Each winner receives a medal, a diploma and a sum of money. / Nobel's idea still works. 任务四范文:The person I admire most is my aunt, who is a doctor in a small town. She works in a hospital which is always crowded. The patients who come to see her often have no money, and she never refuses them. She is a woman whose patience seems endless, even after a twelve-hour shift. Once she treated an old man who had walked for three hours to reach the hospital. He brought her two eggs, which she accepted with a smile. My aunt is not famous, but she is the kind of person that makes a town feel safe.
