66.Dear fellow students,
With the spring break approaching, we strongly advocate that we step out of the classroom and into nature.
Spring break is not just a pause from study, but a perfect chance to refresh our minds and reconnect with the natural world. Why not go cycling along the riverside, or simply having a picnic in the park and feel the warmth of spring sunshine on your face? After this break, we’ll return to our studies with renewed energy and clearer thinking.
Let’s get started and seize this opportunity — go outside, embrace nature, and recharge ourselves!

67.Molly rushed home and burst out crying when her mother came. After her mom knew about everything, she smiled, “Dear, why not try your best to make witch impressed? Maybe you are the best.” Molly jerked up her head as if awake from a dream. She kissed her mother in gratitude and got ready immediately. She carefully analyzed the witch’s personality traits, body language, consulted professionals, and looked up information about the relevant characters. As she learned more, her confidence grew gradually.
A few days later, the big day for the play arrived. The performance was a great success. Molly’s performance as the witch was as impressive as Maye’s as the princess, and the applause from the audience continued, which made Molly cry with joy. And her friend Maye also hugged her deeply and whispered, “If I had played a witch, I might not be as good as you.” Molly also understands a truth: no matter what role you play, as long as it is taken seriously, it will make people impressed.

Tom was pleased to get a role in the school play. It wasn’t a major role and he had only four or five lines. However, he worked hard at perfecting the lines, repeating them in front of a mirror over and over again, as his drama teacher had suggested. He had great fun rehearsing (排练) with the older students. Then finally the big night came.
Suddenly, things felt different. The theater was full of audience. He looked around at those experienced actors and saw the confidence they’d shown at rehearsal seemed to have disappeared. Everyone was on edge. When Tom got on stage, he couldn’t help hurrying into the words he had repeated so many times before. He tried to slow down but, thinking about doing that, he suddenly realized he had missed a sentence. With no time to think it over, he carried on. When he stepped off the stage, his hands felt sweaty and his heart was racing. He didn’t think about what he had achieved. Instead, he was beating himself up for the mistake that he had made.
The audience, of course, didn’t know he had missed a sentence. In fact, no one noticed it except his drama teacher. “Well done, ” she said. “Acting is like learning to ride a bike. You may fall off a few times, yet each time you get back on, you do it better. Your performance may not have been perfect but, for your first time, it was great. ”
The drama teacher’s words put Tom’s mind at ease. He caught the look of his face in a mirror, which was smiling back at him. Without knowing it, he raised two hands with his thumbs (拇指)up.
24.What do we know about Tom before the big night?
A.He was sad about his limited lines. B.He expected a major role in the play.
C.He worked hard to prepare for the play. D.He was confident of the play’s success.
25.How did Tom feel when he finished the performance?
A.Regretful. B.Relieved. C.Hopeful. D.Confused.
26.Why did Tom raise his hands with thumbs up in the end?
A.He got his teacher’s forgiveness. B.He made peace with his imperfection.
C.He decided to correct his mistakes. D.He admired his own face in the mirror.
27.What message does the author seem to convey in the text?
A.Well begun, half done. B.Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
C.Practice makes perfect. D.Let your fault make you better, not bitter.

In Washington, D.C., early in the morning, Stephanie Haley, a volunteer, is walking through the city’s downtown, looking for birds that might have collided (碰撞) with windows. On the sidewalk next to an office building, there is an olive-green songbird. It’s an Acadian flycatcher, no doubt on its way to Central or South America when it hit a window.
This scene is repeated across the country. Each year, up to a billion birds are killed by window collisions in the US. Most of these birds are migrating (迁徙), flying at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour when they hit the glass. For birds, glass — whether clear or reflective — presents a major danger, and this is especially true in cities, where buildings are full of glass.
Each night during the migration season, hundreds of millions of birds take to the skies, flying through the night to take advantage of the evening’s cool, stable air. They navigate with the help of the moon and the stars, and come down in the morning to rest. That’s when they can meet glass, which they don’t know how to avoid. If it’s clear, they think they can fly through it. If it’s reflective, they can mistake the reflections for real trees and sky. These collisions happen mostly near the ground, not high in the air.
The issue gained national attention after hundreds of birds died in one night at McCormick Place in Chicago in 2023. This event led to a meeting of experts, who formed the Bird collision Prevention Alliance. Their goal is to find better ways to protect birds from glass. In Chicago, using special films on windows can reduce (减少) bird collisions by up to 95%.
Homeowners can also help by treating their windows. By taking small actions, like covering windows, people can reduce bird deaths at home. These efforts may not fix the problem entirely, but they are a step in the right direction for saving millions of birds.
28.Where does the volunteer find the Acadian flycatcher?
A.At an office. B.On the driveway. C.At her house. D.On the sidewalk.
29.What is the main reason birds collide with windows?
A.They are attracted to foods. B.They are confused by the lights.
C.They fail to recognize glass. D.They fly too high while migrating.
30.How do the birds fly at night during the migration season?
A.They use the moon and stars. B.They look for trees in the country.
C.They follow the lights in cities. D.They turn to other animals for help.
31.Which best describes the act of applying special films to windows to save birds?
A.Difficult. B.Workable. C.Pointless. D.Expensive.

Data (数据) centers built to power AI produce so much heat that they can raise the surface temperature of the land around them by several degrees, creating ‘data center heat islands’.
Marinoni from the University of Cambridge and his co-workers saw that the amount of energy needed to run a data center has been increasing and is likely to “explode” in the coming years, and they decided to measure the impact. The researchers have taken satellite measurements of land surface temperatures over the past 20 years and cross-referenced them against the geographical coordinates (坐标) of more than 8,400 AI data centers.
Recognizing that the rise in surface temperatures could also be due to other influencers, the researchers chose to focus their research on data centers located away from heavily populated areas. They discovered that land surface temperatures increased by an average of 2℃ in the months after an AI data center started operations. In the most extreme cases, the increase in temperature was 9.1℃. The effect wasn’t limited to the data centers’ immediate surroundings — the team found increased temperatures up to 10 kilometers away. Seven kilometers away, there was only a 30percent reduction in the intensity (强度).
“The results were quite surprising,” says Marinoni. “This. could become a huge problem.” Studying population data, the researchers discovered that more than 340 million people live within10 kilometers of data centers, where temperatures are higher than they would be if the data centers hadn’t been built there. Areas including the Bajío region in Mexico and Aragon province in Spain saw a 2℃ increase in temperature over the 20 years between 2004 and 2024, which couldn’t otherwise be explained. Marinoni says, “The message I would like to deliver is simple: Be careful about designing and developing data centers.”
32.What is a data center heat island?
A.A region where temperatures rise quickly.
B.A problem that data centers waste much energy.
C.A distant island that has seen large crowds of tourists.
D.A situation where the land around data centers gets warmer.
33.What did Marinoni and his team aim to do?
A.Reduce data centers’ energy need.
B.Find out data centers’ effect on temperature.
C.Compare the data centers in different regions.
D.Explain the reason for rising global temperatures.
34.Why did the researchers focus on data centers in less populated areas?
A.To make it easier to collect data.
B.To raise the correctness of the findings.
C.To protect the people living in those areas.
D.To cut down the cost of satellite measurements.
35.What can we learn about the data center heat island?
A.It will disappear in the near future.
B.It has already influenced large populations.
C.It is the main reason for global temperature rise.
D.It has no connection with the design of data centers.

If you eat or drink more than your body needs, you’ll put on weight because the energy you do not use is stored as fat. 36 The key to a healthy diet is to eat the right amount of calories for how active you are, so you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use.
37 . Experts recommend eating at least five portions every day. They can be fresh, canned, dried, or in juice form. Adding fruit to breakfast or choosing it as a snack makes reaching this goal easier. Fruits and vegetables give the body vitamins, minerals, and fiber that help keep us well.
Fish is another healthy choice. It provides protein and many important nutrients (营养物). You should aim to eat fish at least twice a week, including one serving of oily fish. 38 . However, some canned or smoked fish may have too much salt, so it is better not to eat them too often,
It is also important to cut down on saturated (饱和的) fat and sugar. Too much saturated fat can raise cholesterol (胆固醇) levels and increase the risk of heart problems. 39 . Sugary foods and drinks should also be limited, because they can lead to weight gain.
Finally, staying active is just as important as eating well. 40 At the same time, drinking enough water, especially when it is hot or after exercise, is necessary to keep the body working well.
A.However, ready meals are so convenient
B.If you eat and drink too little, you’ll lose weight
C.One good habit is to eat more fruits and vegetables
D.You should avoid all products that come from animals

Molly and Maye were good friends, like sisters, not only because they were always in the same class, but also they shared an interest—both of them were crazy about acting.
Before this summer holiday, their school was to hold the annual “School Play”, wanting a whole set of actors. That was their luck. “I’d like to play a role in the show.” Molly told herself.
After reading the notice, she learned that the play was named Rapunzel, who was a magic princess. Another leading role was an evil witch (女巫) stealing Rapunzel to keep herself young forever. Immediately, Molly and Maye were both attracted by the role of princess. Apart from them, there were about twenty other girls interested in this role as well. So an audition (试镜) would be needed to choose the most suitable one.
“Do you really want to play the princess, Maye?” they walked home, arm in arm.
“Yes, a little. And you?” Maye replied.
Long silence...
Several weeks before the audition, they practiced and practiced. With time speeding by, Molly’s confidence grew and she felt happy with her acting.
The morning of the audition arrived at last. Unbelievable! So many students crowded into the school hall to appreciate and witness the moment. Nervous though Molly was, she took a deep breath and recalled what she had practiced. During the audition, she tried her best to present her best self, and she was sure that she could make it.
After an anxiety-filled hour, the result of the audition came out. Molly didn’t even dare to check the result in person. Standing outside the crowd, she heard someone shouting, “Maye is the princess!” What was worse, Molly was shocked to learn that she was given the role of “witch”!

【答案】24.C 25.A 26.B 27.D
【导语】本文是记叙文。作者通过讲述Tom在演出时紧张并错过了一句台词的经历,告诉我们对待过错的正确态度——要让过错使你变得更好。
【详解】24.细节理解题。根据第一段中“ However, he worked hard at perfecting the lines, repeating them in front of a mirror over and over again, as his drama teacher had suggested. He had great fun rehearsing (排练) with the older students. Then finally the big night came.(然而,正如他的戏剧老师所建议的那样,他努力完善台词,在镜子前一遍又一遍地重复它们。他和年长的学生们排练得很开心。终于,这一天要来临了。)”可知,在演出以前,Tom努力为这出戏做准备。故选C。
25.推理判断题。根据第二段中“When he stepped off the stage, his hands felt sweaty and his heart was racing. He didn’t think about what he had achieved. Instead, he was beating himself up for the mistake that he had made.(当他走下舞台时,他的手感到出汗,心跳加速。他没有想过自己所取得了什么成就。相反,他在为自己所犯的错误而自责。)”可知,Tom在表演结束后,为自己所犯的错误而自责,由此可推知,他感到很遗憾,故选A。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段中“Acting is like learning to ride a bike. You may fall off a few times, yet each time you get back on, you do it better. Your performance may not have been perfect but, for your first time, it was great.
【答案】28.D 29.C 30.A 31.B

29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“For birds, glass — whether clear or reflective —presents a major danger, and this is especially true in cities, where buildings are full of glass.(对鸟类来说,玻璃——无论是透明的还是反光的——都是一大危险,在城市里尤其如此,因为那里的建筑物都是玻璃)”及第三段中“That’s when they can meet glass, which they don’t know how to avoid. If it’s clear, they think they can fly through it. If it’s reflective, they can mistake the reflections for real trees and sky. These collisions happen mostly near the ground, not high in the air.(这时他们会碰到玻璃,他们不知道如何避免。如果是透明的,他们认为他们可以飞过。如果它是反射的,他们会把反射误认为是真实的树木和天空。这些碰撞大多发生在地面附近,而不是高空)”可知,鸟类无法识别玻璃才是撞击事件的主要原因。故选C。
30.细节理解题。根据第三段中“They navigate with the help of the moon and the stars, and come down in the morning to rest.(他们在月亮和星星的帮助下航行,早上下来休息)”可知,鸟类在夜间迁徙依靠月亮和星星导航。故选A。
31.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中“In Chicago, using special films on windows can reduce (减少) bird collisions by up to 95%.(在芝加哥,在窗户上使用特殊薄膜可以减少高达95%的鸟类碰撞)”可推断,在窗户上贴膜来保护鸟类的做法切实可行。故选B。

【答案】32.D 33.B 34.B 35.B
【导语】文章主要介绍了AI数据中心产生的热量对周边地表温度的影响及其相关研究发现。
【详解】32.细节理解题。根据第一段“Data (数据) centers built to power AI produce so much heat that they can raise the surface temperature of the land around them by several degrees, creating ‘data center heat islands’. (为AI提供动力的数据中心会产生大量热量,使周边地表温度升高数度,从而形成‘数据中心热岛’)”可知,数据中心热岛指的是数据中心周边土地变暖的现象。
33.细节理解题。根据第二段“Marinoni from the University of Cambridge and his co-workers saw that the amount of energy needed to run a data center has been increasing and is likely to “explode” in the coming years, and they decided to measure the impact. (剑桥大学的Marinoni及其同事注意到,运行数据中心所需的能量一直在增加,并可能在未来几年“激增”,因此他们决定测量其影响)”可知,Marinoni和他的团队旨在探究数据中心对温度的影响。
34.推理判断题。根据第三段“Recognizing that the rise in surface temperatures could also be due to other influencers, the researchers chose to focus their research on data centers located away from heavily populated areas. (研究人员意识到地表温度上升也可能受其他因素影响,因此选择重点研究位于人口稀少地区的数据中心)”可推知,他们这样做是为了排除其他因素的干扰,提高研究结果的准确性。
35.细节理解题。根据最后一段“Studying population data, the researchers discovered that more than 340 million people live within 10 kilometers of data centers, where temperatures are higher than they would be if the data centers hadn’t been built there. (研究人员通过人口数据发现,超过3.4亿人居住在数据中心周边10公里范围内,这些地区的温度比未建设数据中心时更高)”可推知,数据中心热岛效应已经影响了大量人口。

I have always been attracted by archaeology since I was little. The fact that archaeologists 41 history with their bare hands never fails to 42 me. In my room, I have a large collection of fossils, ranging from dinosaur bones to ancient marine specimens (样本)
Years passed, but I still had no 43 experience. So, when the Center for American Archaeology offered a field summer program, I 44 the chance despite the fear of traveling alone.
Everything felt completely new. I took my first 45 and met my roommate, Asher, who ended up as my best friend. Before going into the 46 , we attended a lecture, where we learned theories of how to use the tools needed for our work. I was thrilled to finally get my hands 47 .
The moment I started, however, I realized how 48 I had been. The unbearable 49 made it hard to breathe as the sun beat down fiercely. Soon, my clothes were 50 through with sweat, yet I knew I couldn’t give up easily.
On day six, I was shoveling in my square and scraping (刮掘) my way to the next level, when I heard a loud “CLICK.” My heart 51 — I had hit something important eventually. 第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料:根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Molly rushed home and burst out crying when her mother came.

A few days later, the big day for the play arrived.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Molly rushed home and burst out crying when her mother came.

E.Oily fish contains special fats that are good for the heart
F.Instead, choose healthier fats found in vegetable oil and nuts
G.Regular exercise helps control body weight and improves overall health

Long before high-speed trains became 56 household name, China dreamed of faster and more efficient transportation. In the 1990s, 57 (normal), overcrowded traditional trains struggled 58 (keep) up with demand. Engineers began sketching blueprints for a “high-speed railway” 59 could shorten travel times between major cities.
A key moment came in 2004, when China launched its first official high-speed rail project — the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway. This 120-kilometer line, built 60 foreign technology, served as a testing ground for what was to come.
In 2012, China introduced the CRH380A train, a domestically 61 (develop) bullet train that reached 486.1 km/h in tests — breaking global speed records. It was equipped with advanced systems and energy-efficient motors, making travel 62 (safe) and more comfortable.
By 2017, China raised the bar again with the Fuxing train, which 63 (design) and manufactured in China. It boasted a top speed of 400 km/h and energy 64 (efficient) 17% higher than the global average.
Today, China’s high-speed rail network 65 (grow) to over 40,000 kilometers — the longest in the world. From slow steam engines to sleek bullet trains, this journey shows the power of ambition and innovation.
