Every week, they taught a group of 8-to-14-year-olds life skills like how to cook and sew (缝制). “Loneliness is something that seniors are challenged with, and they love having younger people around them,” said Zainab Hussain, a program manager at Olive Community Services, a nonprofit that hosted the camp to bring teens and elderly adults together. In the camp, a small room was filled with energy as the kids chatted and chewed on snacks. Some grandmas were around and watched, content to just be around the youngsters. Haqiqah Abdul Rahim, one of the grandmas serving as the instructor for sewing, said many kids don’t learn these skills at school, so they’re filling in a gap. She stood in front of the room at the start of the activity, holding up various tools and explaining what they were. Rahim also didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren because they didn’t live close. “It is heartwarming to be able to interact with those who love being around you,” Rahim said. The summer camp was held in partnership with the Golden Connections Club, started by 14-year-old high school student Leena Albinali. She lived with her grandma but realized other students didn’t have the same opportunity to spend as much time with their grandparents. She also learned about ageism (年龄歧视) and other challenges faced by senior adults in one of her classes. “They treat us like we’re their grandchildren,” Albinali said. “We share what we know about artificial intelligence and its impact on our lives, while the elders share their life stories and advice. One of the most important things they’ve shared with me is to live in the moment, something that’s taken on new meaning for me — The people we have right now are not going to be with us forever.” 4. What is the purpose of the summer camp? A. To teach kids life skills. B. To help seniors fight loneliness. C. To connect generations. D. To educate kids to respect seniors. 5. How does Rahim find her job of teaching sewing in the camp? A. It makes up for the lessons at school. B. It offers career options to kids in future. C. It inspires kids’ interest in her profession. D. It reminds her to contact her grandchildren. 6. Which of the following best describes Leena Albinali? (原创) A. Honest and modest. B. Creative and caring. C. Talented and ambitious. D. Humorous and generous. 7. What message does Albinali want to convey in the last paragraph? A. The shared challenges facing generations. B. The curiosity of seniors about technology. C. The wisdom of seniors’ life experience. D. The enriching exchange across generations. C Whether you’re happy with your size or not, the basic fact of life is that we all have to eat. How you choose to raise yourself can make a big difference in how you feel, not only in your body, but about yourself and the world around you. “I had this babysitter who was a dieter,” said Dr Linda Shiue, an internal medicine physician and trained chef. “She would eat colourless, smell-less food and she was sad all the time.” That isn’t Shiue’s style. She is the first director of culinary (烹饪的) medicine at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, where she founded Thrive Kitchen, a teaching kitchen inspired by the babysitter. Her classes show people how to use spices (香料) and herbs to flavour seasonal cuisine while following an eating pattern that supports health. “As a physician who has seen the negative effects of long-term dieting, I encourage people to reconsider their relationship to food as a source of pleasure. This can be a very arduous task considering the diet-supporting messaging that surrounds us,” Shiue said in an email. What can you do to enjoy your food?” Many of us have experienced shame or guilt around food, and a lot of that is a product of our culture and what the fashion and whole dieting industries have created,” Shiue said. “I think that most people at some point feel like, ‘Oh, I shouldn’t eat that. That’s bad for me.’ Actually, there’s no need to feel bad about food choices. Everything has to be in moderation, and that means there’s room for the occasional indulgence (放纵).” Restrictive (限制的) diets are having the opposite effect. “Research shows that the best eating plan is the one any given individual can stick with — a sustainable (可持续的) lifestyle change,” Shiue said. In Shiue’s opinion, food is more than a way to simply stay alive. “Nutrition is only one small part of food,” she said. “Food is also an expression of love and care. So enjoy your food!” 8. What inspired Dr Linda Shiue to found Thrive Kitchen? A. Her training as a chef. B. Her own eating habits and lifestyle. C. Her work as an internal medicine physician. D. Her experience with a babysitter who was a dieter. 9. What does the underlined word “arduous” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Meaningful. B. Difficult. C. Abstract. D. Promising. 10. According to Shiue, what should people do to enjoy their food? A. Always eat what you like. B. Follow fashion and dieting trends. C. Stop judging food as good or bad. D. Completely avoid restrictive diets. 11. What is the main idea of the passage? A. People should eat healthy food to stay alive. B. People should reconsider the role of nutrition. C. How and what people eat affects their well-being. D. Long-term dieting has negative effects on people’s health. D Scientists are worried that the largest iceberg (冰山) in the world is moving through the South Atlantic toward the island of South Georgia, which is a main breeding (繁殖) place for wildlife, especially penguins and seals. The iceberg is officially known as A23a and it measures over 3,500 square kilometers. It has existed since 1986, when it broke off from the Antarctic shelf. But it didn’t leave Antarctica until 2020. Scientists have been using satellite imagery to follow the iceberg’s movements and their observations had shown the iceberg had not broken into smaller pieces like some other so-called “megabergs” that passed through the Southern Ocean. Predicting the iceberg’s exact path is difficult, but ocean conditions suggest it should reach South Georgia in two to four weeks. Scientists are worried the iceberg will get caught on the underground continental shelf around South Georgia. If so, it could remain there for months or it could break into pieces, which could harm efforts by penguins and seals on the island to feed and raise their young. Icebergs that have grounded there in the past led to the deaths of young penguins and seals. But Raul Cordero, a member of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, believes it is possible that the iceberg could miss the shelf and continue moving into open waters beyond South Georgia. The island acts as an obstacle (障碍) to ocean currents and therefore usually makes the water change direction long before it reaches the island. The iceberg is moved by that water flow, so the chances of it hitting are not that high. However, some iceberg pieces could affect the island. It is summer in South Georgia and penguins and seals from the area have been looking for food in the cold Antarctic waters to bring back to their young. They might have to go around the iceberg if it gets stuck, which would take a lot of their energy, possibly leading to animal deaths. The seal and penguin populations on South Georgia have already been having a “bad season” with cases of bird flu. 12. What can we learn about iceberg A23a from the text? A. It has been moving since 2020. B. It is a large iceberg for breeding. C. It broke off from the Antarctic shelf in 2020. D. Its path is more predictable than other icebergs. 13. What is Raul Cordero’s opinion about the iceberg’s path? A. It will definitely hit the South Georgia Island. B. It will probably miss the South Georgia Island. C. It will break into pieces on the South Georgia Island. D. It will block ocean currents to the South Georgia Island. 14. What could happen if the iceberg gets stuck near the South Georgia Island? A. The iceberg will disappear more quickly. B. It will bring bird flu virus to the island. C. The weather there will become warmer. D. Animals there will have trouble getting food. 15. What can be the best title for the text? A. The History of Iceberg A23a B. Icebergs Affect the Sea Levels C. Scientists Monitor Iceberg A23a’s Threat D. The Role of Satellite Imagery in Tracking Icebergs Although life is filled with many victories, it involves numerous downfalls. Patrick guided the camper (露营车) out of their quiet village while Evelyne sat beside him, one hand resting on the small carrier (宠物箱) in her lap, the other holding her phone. Through the window, she filmed the vineyards rolling by like green rivers. “Say hi to everyone,” asked Evelyne, turning the camera toward Patrick. Then she turned the phone toward the carrier. Inside, Filou — a tiny ball of black and white fur with curious green eyes — meowed (喵喵叫) softly at every passing bird. She posted the video later that morning, adding a few simple words: “Road trip: ON.” Within minutes, comments began to appear. Her followers — over three thousand of them — loved these small glimpses into her life. Among the likes and emojis, one comment caught her attention: “Cats are born curious explorers!” Evelyne smiled and slipped her phone back into her pocket, never knowing what would happen next. Filou was barely a year old, full of energy and curiosity. He pressed his nose against the glass of the car window, eager to explore the world outside. Each time a tree cast its shadow across the window, he would tilt (倾斜) his head. Each time a bird flew over the sky, he would fix his eyes on it. “He never misses a thing,” Patrick said, glancing at the rearview mirror. After hours of driving, they stopped at a rest area. Stepping out of the camper, they smelt the aroma (香气) of coffee. “Let’s grab a coffee, shall we?” Patrick suggested. Evelyne nodded. “See you in a minute,” she kissed Filou goodbye on the head and ran to her husband, leaving the passenger window open a crack to let in fresh air. They walked into the small cafe and enjoyed the peaceful afternoon. When they returned to the camper, the carrier was empty. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next morning, she received a comment below her post. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026—2027学年高二年级学情调研 英语试题 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。 1. 8. D 9. B 10. C 11. How you choose to raise yourself can make a big difference in how you feel, not only in your body, but about yourself and the world around you. The Role of Satellite Imagery in Tracking Icebergs 【答案】12. A 13. B 14. D 15. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When they returned to the camper, the carrier was empty. Evelyne’s heart sank instantly, and she called Filou’s name frantically. Patrick checked around the camper, while she ran along the rest area, her eyes scanning every corner. They asked the cafe staff for help, but no one had seen the tiny cat. Evelyne felt tears welling up, blaming herself for leaving the window open. They searched until dusk, calling Filou’s name, but there was no response. Heartbroken, they had to stay at the rest area for the night, hoping he would come back. The next morning, she received a comment below her post. It read: “I saw a black and white cat near the rest area yesterday! He followed me to my farm, and he’s safe now.” Evelyne’s hands shook as she replied, asking for the farm’s address. They rushed there immediately, and when they called Filou’s name, the tiny cat ran toward them, meowing happily. Tears of joy streamed down Evelyne’s face as she held him tightly. She later posted a photo of Filou, thanking her follower, and realized that kindness and connection could turn a disaster into a blessing. 呼喊:call/shout ②. 寻找:search/look for ③. 回复:reply/respond 情绪类 ①. 焦急地:frantically/anxiously ②. 伤心的:heartbroken/sad 【点睛】[高分句型1].
