What should teenagers learn during their growth? Good creativity, reasonable money management and respect for history are all important lessons.
Lots of teenagers show great creativity through puppet performances, volunteer work and different kinds of art activities. However, some teenagers from wealthy families spend pocket money without clear plans. They chase expensive products just because their classmates have them. Educators advise teenagers to make monthly budgets and keep good saving habits.
Besides self-growth, teenagers should also learn about our past. When we visit museums, we can see ancient cultural remains. Archaeologists dig into old tombs and palaces to study history. Valuable silk, old statues and palace relics show us the life of long-ago periods. Multimedia shows and detailed research reports help common visitors understand history better.
Some cartoons create interesting stories about ancient times, but they are not real history facts. We can use our imagination, but we should never mix fiction with truth. Real treasure is not only expensive goods. Teenagers will get special pride when they value creativity, good habits and our ancient culture.

Relationships, especially with family, matter most in dealing with change. I have experienced some life-changing events that turned me into a better person.
One happened in my childhood. My best friend was hit by a motorcycle on her way home from school and fell into a coma (昏迷). For weeks I could not sleep, hoping for news that never came. She stayed in hospital six months, and I became stressed and lost weight. One morning I heard she had passed away. I fainted and was rushed to hospital. Instead of scolding (训斥) me for missing school, my parents let me stay home until I felt ready. This brought me closer to my family, making me more loving, caring and thankful.
Another was my disagreement with my parents about college. I wanted a year off, not ready for a stage where I had to be responsible for myself, but they feared I would waste it. I avoided them. My mind changed when my dad talked to me. He said fear and anxiety are normal in a life-changing decision, and shared how he had felt the same when his father asked him to move out. My family was very understanding.
These two events improved my family relationships and introduced me to adulthood. Now I discuss every challenge openly with my parents, who always support me.

①The Feynman Technique (费曼学习法) is a study method that helps students learn by teaching others. Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman developed it many years ago.
②The Feynman Technique has been one of the most useful study methods for many years. For one thing, it helps students really understand something instead of just remembering information. Besides, instead of reading textbooks or reviewing notes like other methods, it pushes students to actively take part in the learning process.
③If you want to use the Feynman Technique to study better, follow these steps. To begin with, choose a topic you want to learn, including sub-topics. If not, you’ll jump between topics without developing a deeper understanding of any of them.
④The second step is the heart of the Feynman Technique: explaining the topic simply enough so that a sixth-grade student can understand it. You should help the child understand by using the simplest and clearest language. This step helps divide indigestible topics into their most basic parts.
⑤Next, review your words and try to find any area where you felt that you couldn’t explain the topic simply. It can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grade student.
⑥The fourth step is to improve your words using the information that you get from the third step.
⑦Finally, repeat the steps. The Feynman Technique works best with repeating, and that is why taking the above steps just once is usually not enough to fully understand the topic.
⑧Once you’re confident you’ve learnt the topic, it’s time to give yourself a prize. Perhaps, like me, enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
1.Why is the Feynman Technique better than other methods?
A.Because it encourages students to do active learning.
B.Because it allows students to study in groups.
C.Because it saves students’ study time.
D.Because it helps students collect more information.
2.What does the underlined word “indigestible” mean?
A.Simple B.Difficult C.Fun D.Tiny
3.Who can you get suggestions from according to the third step?
A.An expert in learning. B.Your teachers.
C.Your parents. D.A 12-year-old girl.
4.Which is the correct order for the Feynman Technique?
a. Pick a topic to learn.
b. Improve the weak areas.
c. Explain it in simplest words
d. Repeat the steps until you really learn it.
e. Find the weak part of your words.
A.e→b→a→c→d B.a→e→b→c→d
C.a→c→e→b→d D.c→e→b→d→a
5.What’s the right structure of the text?
A.①② / ③④⑤⑥⑦ / ⑧ B.①② / ③④ / ⑤⑥⑦ / ⑧
C.① / ②③ / ④⑤ / ⑥⑦⑧ D.① / ② / ③④⑤⑥⑦ / ⑧

3.细节理解题。根据文章第五段“It can be very helpful to get advice from someone whose understanding is similar to that of a sixth-grade student.”可知,第三步建议从理解能力类似于六年级学生的人那里获取建议,12岁女孩符合六年级学生的年龄特征。
4.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“To begin with, choose a topic...”、第四段“The second step is...explaining the topic simply...”、第五段“review your words and try to find any area...”、第六段“The fourth step is to improve your words...”及第七段“Finally, repeat the steps.”

I’m Jack. I am a high school student. Recently, I had a big fight with my family. I felt angry and sad. Besides, I was totally overwhelmed (被压倒的) by schoolwork and activities. I started to hate everything around me. I had absolutely no intention of finishing high school or returning home. I had totally separated myself from dealing with my family problems. So I ran away.
On the first night, I tried to find a place to stay, but I failed. I got enough money for a room at a hotel on the second night by selling my electronic products. I spent the first few days hanging out around New York without a care in the world.
However, hope soon gave way to fear. On the fifth day, I was running out of money fast. I was in a difficult situation because of less and less money. I only bought what I needed, and only at the lowest price. I didn’t buy food unless I was truly hungry. Survival stress is different from family stress, and it always made me nervous. I tried my best to solve the problem, but I was still greatly underprepared for independent living. So I took one more day to enjoy the city and my freedom, and then I went home.
Going back was much harder than leaving. Rebuilding my relationship with my parents was a little difficult. And missing a week of school was also a big problem. My grades were in need of serious improvement. But I didn’t want to run away from my problems anymore. I needed space from my situation to find out how to fix it. I knew that everything would be OK. I grew up a lot during that week. I learnt how to exercise self‑control.
Now I can solve my problems in a calmer way. I talk about what is worrying me and I take space when I need it. I believe my life will be good again.

Slides are simple but always fun. All you need to do is climb up to the top and then slide down. But do you know that there is science behind this simple playground equipment (设备)?
①You climb up the slide and sit down. You are ready to go. Are you sliding down? No, not yet. Things stay still (静止) unless something makes them ________. It is Newton’s first law. So you have to give yourself a push to start the journey down.
②Now you are sliding down.
Do you feel you are slowing down a bit? When two things rub (摩擦) against each other, they cause friction (摩擦力). Without friction, you will slide down faster and faster to the bottom.
③At the bottom of the slide, you come to a full stop.
Your feet touch the ground and add extra friction. Newton’s first law also says moving things keep moving unless something makes them stop. So, if you do not use your feet, you’ll fly off the slide.
Isaac Newton said what goes up must come down. He was talking about gravity. Slides work because of gravity. But that is not all.

In recent years, “Chinese-style parents” has become a hot topic on the internet. People use this term to describe parents who make almost all decisions for their children, from what to wear to what career to choose. They often use the sentence “I’m doing all this for your own good” to explain their actions.
Many teenagers feel stressed under such a parenting style. They think their parents don’t respect their opinions and feelings. Some even become rebellious (叛逆的) and do the opposite of what their parents expect.
However, it’s important to understand that most Chinese parents act this way out of love and worry. They want to protect their children from making mistakes. They believe that with their life experience, they can help their children avoid detours (弯路).
So what can we do to solve this problem? First, children should try to communicate with their parents more often. Let them know your thoughts and feelings. Poverty (贫困) is a big problem around the world. But China has done a good job of dealing with it and it has found its own way to fight poverty. Instead of just giving money to poor people, it has tried to educate people and give them the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Ordinary (普通的) people play a big role in the fight. Here are two of them.
Zhang Guimei has been helping girls pursue (追求) education since she traveled to Yunnan at the age of17. As a teacher, Zhang was heartbroken when she saw her students leave school after finishing senior high school. They couldn’t go to college because their families couldn’t pay for it. So in 2008, Zhang started a free school for poor girls. Since then, Zhang has been busy asking for donations to provide money for the school. She has convinced (说服) parents to send their daughters back to school. The school has sent more than 1,800 students to universities and colleges.
When Mao Xianglin started to work as the Party secretary (书记) of his village, there was only one pathway (小路) out of the village for many years. He led more than 100 villagers to build a road with their hands. It took them seven years to build an eight-kilometer road. Mao then encouraged the villagers to grow oranges. Last year, their orange yield (产量) was nearly 40 tons. Young people have returned to the village to sell oranges online. By the end of 2019,269 villagers had been lifted out of poverty. The per capita income (人均收入) reached 12,670 yuan, 40 times more than in the 1990s.
Over the last eight years, 98.99 million rural people have been lifted out of poverty. The 832 counties (县) and 128,000 villages which these people live in are no longer in poverty. China has been responsible for reducing 70 percent of poverty worldwide since the late 1970s.

Family life is like a strong tree with many branches. Each branch shows a different part of family relationships, daily life, and time spent together. In most families, people share not only a house but also their feelings and experiences. They eat meals together, talk about what happened during their day, enjoy happy moments, and help each other when things are difficult. These everyday activities build strong family connections.
Of course, family life isn’t always perfect. Sometimes parents and children disagree, or brothers and sisters argue (争论). These small problems are normal when people live together. What’s important isn’t avoiding all arguments, but how family members solve them. By talking openly and trying to understand each other, families can actually become closer through these experiences.
Today, family life has changed in some ways. Many parents have jobs that keep them busy, and children spend much time at school with homework and activities. Even with busy schedules, families find special ways to stay close. Some plan regular fun activities like watching movies together or playing games. Others enjoy going out on weekends. These shared moments help keep family bonds (纽带) strong.
The true importance of family life comes from having a place where you are always listened to and cared for. In such a home when you have a bad day or face a difficulty, you know you are not alone. Your family is there to support you, share your feelings, and help you find solutions. This loving and safe environment is what truly helps each person grow, become more confident, and feel strong enough to handle any problem in life.

You may feel that math is difficult and boring. Is it possible that you’ve been looking at math in the wrong way?
Numbers are beautiful.
There is math hidden in beautiful human bodies. Measure (测量) the length from your head to your belly button (肚脐) and from your belly button to your feet. The ratio (比例) of these two numbers is always around 0.618. This is the golden ratio, which can be seen everywhere, like in nature, music and paintings.
In Chinese poems, we can also see the beauty of numbers. As Li Bai wrote,
“My boat has left ten thousand mountains far away”
“A thousand miles in one day”
—all these numbers show how fast Li Bai travelled and how happy he felt.
Curves (曲线) are beautiful.
“Sine curves” are beautiful. They go in the two different directions on and on without ending. When you look at them, you may feel like standing by the sea and watching the waves slowly moving. When listening to music, the sound waves from guitars or pianos are made up of sine curves. “Tangent curve” is like a waterfall. Just as Li Bai wrote, “dashing down three thousand feet from on high”.
Rules can be amazing.
There are some amazing rules. In a right-angled triangle (直角三角形), the square of the longest side adds up to the sum (总合) of the squares of the other two sides. How amazing! Just as Chinese people say, “Math is fun!”
1.What can we know if the ratio of a thing is around 0.618?
A.It must be a golden object. B.It only happens in the human bodies.
C.It should be something used for math study. D.It might bring people a sense of beauty.
2.Why does the writer mention Li Bai and his poems in the passage?
A.To introduce the topic. B.To support his opinion.
C.To share the beauty of Li Bai’s poems. D.To offer advice on learning math.
3.What does a sine curve look like?
A. B. C. D.
4.What amazing rule is mentioned in the passage about right-angled triangles?
A. B. C. D.
5.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Why math is beautiful and fun. B.Why math is difficult and confusing.
C.How we can learn math in a right way. D.How math helps us live a better life.

A river can look like a picture to one person and a page of instructions to another. Mark Twain knew both ways of seeing it. Before becoming a famous writer, he worked as a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi. That work gave him more than a background for his stories: it changed what he noticed.
A pilot could not simply keep a boat in the middle of the wide river. The safe route changed as the water rose or fell. Trees, riverbanks and small marks on the water all carried information. A pilot had to remember them and understand what they meant, sometimes in darkness. A beautiful line of moving water might be a warning about something hidden below it.
In Life on the Mississippi, Twain describes the price of learning this skill. He remembers a wonderful sunset from his early days on the river. Later, the same kinds of sights made him think about weather, shallow water and danger. He had gained useful knowledge, but the easy pleasure of looking had become harder to find. The river itself had not stopped being beautiful. His purpose for looking at it had changed.
More than a century later, writer David Carkeet travelled beside the Mississippi for Smithsonian magazine. In a museum, he tried to guide a boat on a screen showing the river. He crashed into a bridge. He had been looking at another boat that reminded him of an unpleasant meal. Even with modern equipment and no real passengers at risk, his attention had wandered at the wrong moment.
Put these two experiences together and the river becomes more than scenery. Twain shows how work trains a person’s eye; Carkeet’s mistake shows how easily attention can slip. When a character in a story notices one small thing and misses another, readers can ask what that choice reveals. A writer’s earlier job may help explain such details, but it cannot explain every thought on every page. We still have to read the words in front of us.

A.Proof that modern boats are less safe than old riverboats.
B.A modern example of why a pilot must keep paying attention.
