(2)原因分析题:Why 类问题,注意寻找 because、so、in order to 等因果标志,答出直接原因。 What is the passage mainly about What do you think / What will you do 原文“a famous traditional art from Wuxi, Jiangsu”直接点明产地,作答时写 They come from Wuxi, Jiangsu. 原文“it pushes us to work harder”就是原因,作答可写 It pushes us to work harder. 原文“nature and environment”正是两个并列因素,作答写 Nature and environment. 原文“became popular in the Ming Dynasty”给出时间,作答写 In the Ming Dynasty. 原文“five to ten minutes every night”直接给出答案,作答写 Five to ten minutes. 原文“I am a student in a vocational and technical”后接 college,作答写成 In a vocational and technical college. 原文“Kyra Komac, 28 years old, now has”紧接 25 furniture stores,作答写 25. • 原因、方式题留意 because、by doing、in order to 等标志,答案尽量使用原文表达。 Passage 1 Huishan Clay Figurines are a famous traditional art from Wuxi, Jiangsu. First, talk to someone you trust, such as your parents, friends or teachers. Sharing your feelings can make you feel better. Second, take part in activities you enjoy, like sports, music or drawing. Two important factors shape our character: nature and environment. Some personality traits such as being outgoing or quiet are passed down by our parents when we are born, and these natural qualities are hard to change as we grow up. However, most of our personalities will slowly change because of our school study, new friends and all kinds of difficulties we meet in daily life. If we don’t give up and keep trying after failing exams, we will become braver and much more confident day by day. Teenagers with positive personalities can easily get on well with their classmates and get better grades in all subjects. On the other hand, negative feelings like worry and laziness will slow down our study progress and make fewer friends around us. No one owns perfect personalities, but we can make small progress to fix our bad qualities with long-term daily effort. 1.What two factors shape people’s personalities? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Where do traits like being quiet come from? _______________________________________________________________ 3.Can failing exams change our personalities? What exactly is self-reflection? It means thinking honestly about your own behaviour, feelings and decisions after something has happened. Many teenagers are too busy with schoolwork. They spend most of their time doing homework or taking part-time after-school classes. They seldom stop to look back on what they have done. They just keep moving forward without thinking. However, self-reflection plays an important role in our growth. When you reflect, you can see your weak points clearly. For example, you may find that you often lose your temper when you are under great pressure. Then you can try to find ways to control your moods. Besides, self-reflection also helps you know your advantages. You may realize you are good at organizing group activities. This will build up your confidence. You do not need a long time for self-reflection. You can spend five to ten minutes every night before going to bed. You may ask yourself these simple questions: What did I do well today? What mistake did I make? What should I improve tomorrow? Self-reflection will not bring quick changes to you. Some feel much stress from schoolwork. Some have disagreements with their parents. Some meet peer pressure from classmates. Some teenagers feel stressed because of endless homework and after-school training classes. Their parents expect them to get high marks. In order not to let parents down, they stay up late almost every night. However, too much stress makes them tired and it is hard for them to focus in class. Their grades may even drop as a result. The generation gap is another serious problem. Teenagers hope for more freedom to manage their own lives. They want to choose their hobbies and make some small decisions by themselves. But many parents still stick to their own ideas. They worry that teenagers are too young to make right choices. So arguments often break out at home. Many teens regret arguing with their parents, but they don’t know how to improve the situation. Peer pressure also influences teenagers a lot. Some teenagers change their tastes or behaviors just to get along with their classmates. They risk wasting time and money just to follow others. They are afraid of being left out of the group. It is normal for teenagers to meet these troubles. But we should learn proper ways to deal with them. Communicating patiently, taking active action and asking for advice are all helpful. 1.How many kinds of teenage problems are mentioned in the passage? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Why do some teenagers stay up late almost every night? _______________________________________________________________ 3.What do teenagers hope for when generation gap appears? _______________________________________________________________ 4.Who does peer pressure come from according to the passage? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What can you do when you meet teenage problems in your daily life? _______________________________________________________________ 【答案】 1.Three. 2.In order not to let their parents down. 3.More freedom to manage their own lives. 4.Their classmates. 5. (如:I can ask my parents for advice.) 2.原文第二段直接给出“In order not to let parents down, they stay up late almost every night.” 3.原文第三段提到“Teenagers hope for more freedom to manage their own lives.”,青少年面对代沟希望获得更多自主管理生活的自由,可直接摘抄原文信息作答。 4.根据原文第一段“Some meet peer pressure from classmates.” Passage 7 Dear Mr. Lee, I’m writing to express my thanks to you. Because of you, I found I was good at repairing things. After graduation, I decided to major in (主修) car repair. But my parents didn’t agree. After knowing about it, you came to my home and had a long talk with my parents. To my surprise, they changed their minds and supported me. You would never know how thankful I was at that time. I still remember your words. “All roads lead to Rome.” Now, I am a student in a vocational and technical (职业技术的) college. At the very beginning, I had trouble with my studies. Luckily, the teachers here also helped me. I made great progress after studying hard. Last month, I took part in a national competition. To prepare for it, I had lessons during the day and attended a skill training program at night. I used to be too weak to carry heavy car parts. But now I am able to do it after the training. In the end, I won first prize in this competition. Many people think that repairing cars is a job for men, but I believe women can do it as well as men. If possible, I will try out for an international competition one day. Thank you again for bringing out the best in me. Passage 8 Kyra Komac, 28 years old, now has 25 furniture (家具) stores all over the country. The new store, in London’s Camden High Street, takes her back to where it all started. She tells us about how the business began. When I was little, my mother began selling flowers in Camden Market. She couldn’t leave me at home on my own, so I had to go to the market with her. To begin with, I didn’t have to do anything. I just sat there, and my mum told me jokes and stories so I didn’t get bored. When I got older, I gave my mum a hand and I really enjoyed it. Then, one year, my grandma gave me a book for Christmas. It was all about making candles and I loved it. I was 14, and I didn’t have to go to the market any more because mum could leave me at home on my own. I spent my free time making candles of all shapes and sizes. I made hundreds of them. One day, my mother was ill so I had to go to the market on my own. I decided to take some candles with me and see if I could sell them. They were sold out in twenty minutes! The next week, my mum gave me some money to buy some wax (蜡) to make more candles. They sold out really quickly, too. Nine months later, we decided to stop selling flowers. My mum and I couldn’t make enough candles during the week, so some of my school friends started to give us a hand. At the age of 22, my uncle lent me some money and I opened my first shop in Portobello Road. Since then, I’ve never looked back, even in difficulties. They have a history of over 1,000 years. The clay figurines are made of black mud from the foot of Huishan Mountain. Most of the figurines are of traditional characters, like the God of Wealth and children. They are colourful and lovely. In the past, people bought clay figurines for festivals. Now, Huishan Clay Figurines are popular around the world. Artists are trying to add modern elements to the old art. For example, they make figurines of cartoon characters and modern heroes. This makes the old art popular among young people. In 2006, Huishan Clay Figurines were listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Many artists are working hard to keep this traditional art alive. 1.Where do Huishan Clay Figurines come from? _______________________________________________________________ 2.What are the clay figurines made of? _______________________________________________________________ 3.When were Huishan Clay Figurines listed as national heritage? _______________________________________________________________ 4.Why do artists add modern elements to the art? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What is the passage mainly about? _______________________________________________________________ Passage 2 Everyone feels stress sometimes. For teenagers, exams, homework and getting along with classmates are common causes of stress. A little stress is good because it pushes us to work harder. However, too much stress can make us feel worried and unhappy, and even get us down. Here are some ways to deal with stress. First, talk to someone you trust, such as your parents, friends or teachers. Sharing your feelings can make you feel better. Second, take part in activities you enjoy, like sports, music or drawing. Third, make a plan for your study instead of worrying about it. A good plan helps you finish your work on time. Finally, get enough sleep and eat healthy food. A strong body can help you fight stress. Remember, it is normal to feel stressed. When stress comes, face it bravely instead of running away from it. 1.What are common causes of stress for teenagers? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Why is a little stress good for us? _______________________________________________________________ 3.How can sharing your feelings help you? _______________________________________________________________ 4.What should we do instead of worrying about our study? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What will you do when you feel stressed in your daily life? _______________________________________________________________ Passage 3 Personality is made up of our thoughts, feelings and daily actions. Why? _______________________________________________________________ 4.What kind of students get along well with classmates easily? _______________________________________________________________ 5.Give one example of negative feelings that slow down our progress. _______________________________________________________________ Passage 4 Yixing Zisha pottery is a famous national intangible cultural heritage under Wuxi’s culture. It has a history of over 600 years and became popular in the Ming Dynasty. It is made of special purple clay only found in Yixing Dingshu Town. Making a fine Zisha teapot is never an easy job. Craftsmen need to spend at least 5–10 years mastering basic hand-making skills. Master Xie Qiang is a famous Zisha inheritor. When he was young, he failed hundreds of times while practising clay shaping. His hands were hurt many times, but he never gave up. He kept practising day after day. Zisha pots have a special porous texture. They can keep tea’s original taste well, so tea lovers all over the world love them. However, this traditional craft faces trouble now. Few young people want to learn the difficult skills. To save the old craft, local art schools open Zisha classes. Many craftsmen like Master Xie start live-streaming online to teach young people Zisha skills. They also design creative new teapot styles to attract teenagers. Master Xie says he will keep making Zisha works and pass this skill to more young people as long as he can. 1.When did Zisha pottery become popular? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Where does the special purple clay come from? _______________________________________________________________ 3.Why did Master Xie never give up practising? _______________________________________________________________ 4.What helps Zisha pots keep tea’s good taste? _______________________________________________________________ 5.How do craftsmen teach young people Zisha skills now? _______________________________________________________________ Passage 5 Some people believe that self-reflection (自我反思) is a good habit for teenagers. But if you keep doing it every day, little by little you will make great progress. 1.What does self-reflection mean? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Why do many teenagers hardly do self-reflection? _______________________________________________________________ 3.What can we know about ourselves through self-reflection? _______________________________________________________________ 4.How long does the writer advise us to spend on self-reflection every night? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What result can we get from keeping self-reflection? _______________________________________________________________ Passage 6 Nowadays, more and more teenagers are suffering from different kinds of teenage problems. _______________________________________________________________ Passage 7 Dear Mr. Lee, I’m writing to express my thanks to you. When I was in junior high school, I often failed exams. But you never gave up on me. Instead, you always encouraged me to find my real interest. Yours, Judy 1.What did Mr. Lee encourage Judy to do in junior high school? _______________________________________________________________ 2.How did Judy feel about Mr. Lee when he persuaded (说服) her parents to change their minds? _______________________________________________________________ 3.Where does Judy study now? _______________________________________________________________ 4.When did Judy attend the skill training program to prepare for the national competition? _______________________________________________________________ 5.What do you think of Judy according to her story of achieving her dream? _______________________________________________________________ Passage 8 Kyra Komac, 28 years old, now has 25 furniture (家具) stores all over the country. I paid them one pound for every candle, and we used to sell them for three or four times that. It was fun and my friends worked with me in the market. At the age of 22, my uncle lent me some money and I opened my first shop in Portobello Road. Since then, I’ve never looked back, even in difficulties. In the first store, we only sold candles, but now we sell everything from furniture to paintings. Oh, and candles, of course. 1.How many furniture stores does Kyra Komac have now? _______________________________________________________________ 2.Where did Kyra’s mother sell flowers? _______________________________________________________________ 3.What did Kyra do in her free time when she was fourteen? _______________________________________________________________ 4.How did Kyra’s uncle help her to open her first shop? _______________________________________________________________ 5.List at least two reasons that bring success to Kyra. _______________________________________________________________ 18 / 18乐思英语 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
