mnindfulness)。

causes of exam stress is fear of failure'”,题千问考试压力的主要原因,直接对应该句,
questions break traditional thinking and lead to creative discoveries”,说明所谓“愚
一分”结构,故选A(①-②③④⑤⑥)。
continued teaching”直接说明杨振宁八十多岁仍在教书,与题干“even in his eighties”
surprised to discover how many friends shy little Beth had”点明Beth是害羞(shy)
2/23
follows the next, and each has its own ideas about how it wants to shape its own
valuable skill that can improve many parts of our lives”,后文从益处、技能学习、培
【点拨8】词义猜测一一以Passage8题1为例:原文“And there is the rule of
three. It is an old writing technique”中technique与“写作技巧/方法”同义,且后

us silent We tell ourselves that everyone else must already understand, that our question is
"stupid",and that it's better to nod along than risk embarrassment (
2 But what if those"stupid"questions are the most valuable ones? What if they're the key
to encouraging creation, increasing confidence and connecting more meaningfully with others?
3There are no stupid questions. What we consider as"stupidquestions always challenge
fixed thinking and cause great breakthroughs. Many new possibilities come from such questions,
like Newton thinking about why apples fall to the ground and ancient thinkers questioning why
the sun rises and sets. These questions break traditional thinking and lead to creative discoveries.
4 Moreover, asking such questions builds personal confidence and connection between
people. Each time we ask a"stupid"question,we're reducing the fear of losing face.We have
more and more confidence. At the same time,by asking "stupid"questions,we invite real
conversations. When we ask "stupid'questions,we allow others to ask their own.We tell others
it's okay not to know everything, creating a culture of openness and curiosity.
5 In short,in a world that doesn't give value to true curiosity but to appearing
knowledgeable, asking"stupidquestions becomes a superpower. So,the next time you think of a
"stupid"question, just ask it.Remember:It is not a sign of silliness, but a sign of courage and true
learning.
1.What stops people asking questions about a concept that they don't understand?
A.The difficulty of the concept.
B.The value of the concept.
C.The worry about embarrassing others.

A.They often lead to creative discoveries.

四姐妹和邻居相识交好(a.Beth made friends with her neighbours),这是所有后续事件发
Mrs Hummel came to the house
to say sorry
Doctor Bangs looked at Beth and held her hot hand;随后Jo冒雪出门给妈妈发电报告知情况,
对应c.Jo went out to send Mother a short telegram;到了夜里医生告知大家Beth的病情在
The girls were told to expect a change in Beth's illness。
Mr Laurence locked his piano because nobody came to
"The girls used to play the piano for Mr Laurence.”符合。

patience is actually a valuable skill that can improve many parts of our lives.
Learning to wait is difficult, especially for teenagers who are used to getting what they want
quickly. But practicing patience can bring surprising benefits.Students who are patient usually
perform better on exams because they take their time and avoid careless mistakes.People who are
patient in relationships have stronger relationships because they listen more and react less.Even
physical health can improve-studies show that impatient people have higher blood pressure and
get stress-related illnesses more easily.
Patience is especially important when learning new skills.Mastering a musical instrument,
a new language,or a sport needs months or even years of practice.Without patience, many people
would give up before they see results. The great violinist Itzhak Perlman once said,"If you want
to build a violin, you don't start with the strings-you start with the wood."This reminds us that
good things take time and that we need to trust the process.
One way to develop patience is to practice mindfulness. When we focus on what is
happening now instead of worrying about the future or regretting the past,we naturally slow down
and become more patient.Simple activities like breathing exercises or meditation can help train
our minds to be more patient
Patience is not about doing nothing or being passive. It's about recognizing that some
things take time and being willing to wait for them. It's about believing in the process, even when
we can't see the end result. In a world that values speed, patience is a rare and precious quality.
Those who master it will find that it enriches every area of their lives.

Passage 8
The third month of the school year has now arrived.Have you noticed how, when we talk
about numbers,we naturally think of the number three?
In some ways,"three"is a number that has magical powers. You can find that this
number is all around us.Everything has a beginning,a middle and an end.We eat three meals a
day.Traffic lights all over the world use three colors:red, yellow and green. And there is the rule
of three. It is an old writing technique.According to this rule, things can always become more
satisfying to readers if they come in threes.Have you ever noticed how powerful brands (

use the rule of three to improve their marketing?"Just do it.""I'm loving it.""Coke is
it."All of these famous slogans (are three words long.
But what is it about the number three that makes it so magical?Well,we know that the
human brain is very complex(复杂的).However,it enjoys thinking in patterns(模式).Itis
always trying to find patterns in seemingly unconnected information. What's more,if there are
no patterns, our brains will create them. And three is the smallest number needed to form a
pattern. As the old saying goes,"Once is luck, twice is coincidence (and three times is a
pattern."Moreover, our brains can remember only a little information at any given moment. An
audience (will usually only remember three things from a speech.Do you want your
audience to remember your speech in their minds deeply?Present it to them in groups of three.
If we properly use the rule of three in our daily lives,we can make many things easier.
For example, many people like to add lots of tasks to their to-do lists. However, experts (
suggest they should limit themselves to just three tasks. These top three tasks should be hard
enough to be challenging while still being achievable. And the next time you are making New
Year's tasks, consider listing only three things to work on.The longer your list is,the harder it
is for you to finish them.
1.The underlined word "technique"in paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to
