第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50)
第一节(共15小题,每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
In the fields of disaster rescue and industrial inspection, robots are becoming powerful assistants and pioneers for humans. From mechanical dogs navigating dangerous ruins to swarms of collaborative micro-fliers, they are expanding the boundaries of human action in various forms.
Spot
Over 1,000 of these yellow robots, Spot, are already checking factories and power plants. And now the New York City Fire Department is starting to use the dog-like devices for search-and-rescue missions.
In April 2024, a Spot surveyed the remains of a collapsed car park that was considered too unstable for fire crews to enter. Spot can also send back video footage, carry up to 14 kg and when fitted with an add-on “arm”, open doors and press switches.
Lightning Swarm
Inspired by fireflies, these robots are tiny and can give out light in various colours. The scientists intend the robots to use their lights to signal to and track each other: a low-power communication strategy for a lightweight robot.
“We envision sending hundreds or more of these tiny flying robots into a disaster site, and having them collectively search for survivors,” says MIT robotics engineer Prof Kevin Chen. “Once a survivor is found, they’ll pass the information out to the operators.”
Trail Blazers
At the Bajiao Fire Rescue Station, in Yantai, eastern China, a firefighter tests out a fire-fighting robot.
For a few years, China has been promoting the technology, which allows human firefighters to stay safely outside the danger zone while controlling robot firefighters to put out fires at chemical plants and in subways. One major advantage of this approach is fire resistance—Trail Blazers can work at temperatures of 1,000℃ for over 30 mins.
Rooster
Thanks to its clever design, Rooster can roll across surfaces or fly around to examine almost any type of disaster site, moving through narrow passages and windows, or over obstacles and up or down staircases.
Designed to assist in search operations, the robot uses cameras and sensors to scan a space, so that rescuers don’t need to enter dangerous areas. Rooster can also communicate with search teams and other robots via a radio link.
1. Which robot can be operated in extremely hot situations?
A. Spot. B. Lightning Swarm. C. Trail Blazers. D. Rooster.
2. What do these robots have in common?
A. They can operate in high-risk environments.
B. They can help conduct rescues.
C. They are equipped with perception (感知) tools for environmental detection.
D. They are modeled after animals.
3. Where is this text most probably from?
A. A science fiction. B. An operating handbook.
C. A shopping guideline. D. A science magazine.

Born in Zambia and raised in Portland, 25-year-old Asùkùlù Songolo is the son of Congolese refugees — a background that, as he says, has deeply shaped his life choices. In the beginning, Songolo planned to study international relations at Stanford University with a focus on Africa, followed by law school and a potential career as a professor of African history. However, his career path took an unexpected turn after spending the summer of 2023 as an intern (实习生) at Marché Noir Lomé-Paris, a French fashion boutique (时装店) in Paris during the Haute Couture Week.
“I’ve always been interested in clothes. I admired how my parents, aunts, and uncles dressed, and I observed how people combined and matched different pieces,” Songolo explains. “But I never really saw fashion as a possible career. During Haute Couture Week, though, seeing people from diverse backgrounds all drawn to the same brand and viewing fashion as a unifying force made me reconsider.”
Fast-forward three years, Songolo, who has launched his own brand, Luùndo, has fully committed to his fashion career. The brand combines traditional cultural clothing with modern designs, ranging from casual wear to tailored suits and dresses. Many of his creations are inspired by Congolese aesthetics (美学), and he aims to create more opportunities for people to engage with African culture through fashion, describing Luùndo not just as a brand but as a celebration where people can express their identity and heritage with love.
“My dream is to develop creative industries, starting in Congo and then expanding across Africa. By 2050, Africa is expected to have the largest youth population in the world, but I don’t think enough is being done to create jobs for them.” His vision is to establish manufacturing in Congo and generate employment opportunities.
4. What initially influenced Asùkùlù Songolo’s career planning?
A. His Congolese refugee family background.
B. His experience at Paris Haute Couture Week.
C. His research on immigrant youth engagement.
D. His interest in clothes and fashion from a young age.
5. What made Songolo consider fashion as a career during his Paris internship?
A. The chance to attend Haute Couture Week.
B. Observing how his family members dressed.
C. The opportunity to work at a fashion boutique.
D. Seeing fashion bond people from diverse backgrounds.
6. What is the main goal of Songolo’s brand, Luùndo?
A. To focus only on traditional Congolese clothing.
B. To become the most popular fashion brand globally.
C. To involve people in African culture through fashion.
D. To compete with major international fashion brands.
7. Which of the following can best describe Songolo?
A. Still waters run deep. B. Honesty is the best policy.
C. One good turn deserves another. D. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.

Tired of standing in line? Wait a bit longer, and you may never have to again. Everyone from Amazon to Silicon Valley start-ups is trying to eliminate lines in retail (零售) stores.
Amazon has opened 24 of its Amazon Go stores, which use cameras and artificial intelligence (AI) to see what you’ve taken off shelves and charge you as you walk out. Some start-ups are closely copying Amazon’s approach to using AI-powered cameras fixed in ceilings. But others are trying an entirely different way to skip the checkout: smart shopping carts. These companies have added cameras and sensors (传感器) to the carts, and are using AI to tell what you’ve placed in them. A built-in scale weighs items, in case you have to pay by the pound for an item. Customers pay by using a credit card, or through an online payment system. When customers exit the store, a green light on the shopping cart indicates that their orders are complete, and they’re charged.
The start-ups behind the smart shopping carts, including Caper and Veeve, say it’s much easier to add technology to the shopping cart than to an entire store. Amazon Go stores rely on hundreds of cameras in the ceiling. The shelves also include sensors to tell when an item is removed. Ahmed Beshry, cofounder of Caper, believes the technology to run Amazon Go is too expensive to use in a large grocery store. Neither Caper nor Veeve has said how much their smart shopping carts will cost, making it difficult to compare the different formats. Shariq Siddiqui, CEO of Veeve, said he’s finding increased interest from retailers given Amazon’s steady expansion of Amazon Go since the first Amazon Go store opened in Seattle in 2018. “We’re always happy when Amazon is doing something,” Siddiqui said. “They force retailers to get out of their old-school thinking.”
Each time a business uses artificial intelligence and cameras, it raises questions about customer privacy and the impact on jobs. Beshry notes that the cameras in his smart shopping cart point down into the cart, so only customers’ hands and part of their arms will be captured (拍摄) by cameras.
8. Which of the following best explains “eliminate” underlined in paragraph 1?
A. Shift. B. Break. C. Extend. D. Remove.
9. What do we know about the smart shopping carts?
A. They are linked to the cameras fixed in the ceilings.
B. They are able to recognize purchases placed in them.
C. They flash the green light when the order is cancelled.
D. They can tell customers where to find what they want.
10. What does Beshry think of the technology applied in Amazon Go stores?
A. It is far more expensive than their smart shopping carts.
B. It has attracted many more retailers than before.
C. It may increase the cost of running a large grocery store greatly.
D. It is likely to help retailers to think differently.
11. What is the best title for the text?
A. The New Technology Promotes Retail Sales
B. AI-powered Cameras Are Used in Retail Stores
C. Artificial Intelligence Affects the Future Job Market
D. Smart Shopping Carts Will Let You Skip the Line

“Woman reading book, under a night sky, dreamy atmosphere,” I type into Deep Dream Generator’s Text 2 Dream feature. In less than a minute, an image is returned to me showing what I’ve described.
Welcome to the world of AI image generation, where you can create what on the surface looks like top-rank artwork using just a few text prompts (提示). But closer examination shows strange things. The face of the woman in my image has very odd features, and appears to be holding multiple books. And, while there’s an initial excitement at seeing an image appear, there’s no creative satisfaction.
AI image generation could influence everything from film to graphic novels and more. Children’s illustrators were quick to raise concerns about the technology. They say AI-generated art is the exact opposite of what art is believed to be. Basically, art is all about translating something that you feel internally into something that exists externally. Whatever form it takes, true art is about the creative process much more than it’s about the final piece. And simply pressing a button to generate an image is not a creative process.
Beyond creativity, there are deeper issues. To create images from prompts, AI generators rely on databases of already existing art and text. This could lead to the creation of images that are intentionally meant to imitate (模仿) the style of other artists, without their agreement. There is an argument that AI generators work no differently to humans when it comes to being influenced by others’ work. However, a human artist is also adding emotion and slight difference into the mix. AI doesn’t do the same — it can only copy.
The increasing use of AI will also lead to a lowering of value of the artists’ work. There’s already a negative opinion towards the creative industry. People will begin to think that their “work” is as excellent as that created by someone who has spent a career making art. It’s nonsense, of course. You can use your mobile phone to take a nice picture of your daughter, but you are no match for professionals.
12. What does the writer think of his image creation?
A. Exciting. B. Concerned. C. Unsatisfying. D. Shocking.
13. What do children’s illustrators value most about art?
A. The final art work. B. External expressions in art.
C. The opposite of reality. D. The journey to creation.
14. What is paragraph 4 of the text mainly about?
A. The moral concerns in AI art imitation.
B. Human artists’ influence on AI generators.
C. The advantages of human artworks.
D. The over-reliance of human on technology.
15. What is the author’s attitude to the belief that AI works can match professional art?
A. Indifferent. B. Uncertain. C. Opposed. D. Supportive.

The simple typewriter was once the unquestioned king of every office around the world.
Its story began in Milwaukee in the 1860s, where inventor Christopher Latham Sholes, with the help of his partners, finally created a machine that would change writing forever: the Sholes and Glidden typewriter, which had the now-worldwide QWERTY keyboard. This keyboard design was made to stop mechanical jams by slowing typists down — a smart solution to a technical problem. ____16____ It brought new job chances, especially for women, who started to join the workforce as secretaries in large numbers.
For nearly a century, the typewriter was the core of business, journalism and government. Offices rang with the steady tap-tap of keys, and carbon paper was used to make copies. However, in the 1970s and 1980s, the digital revolution took place. ____17____
The arrival of personal computers and word processing software like WordPerfect and Microsoft Word changed how people created documents. ____18____ By the mid-1990s, computers had taken the place of typewriters in almost every workplace, making them out of date and leading famous brands like IBM and Underwood to decline.
____19____ Some writers, collectors and artists have held onto them, enjoying the feel of typing, the satisfying click when the carriage returns (回车换行), and the environment that helps people stay focused — all provided by these machines. ____20____ Young people, in particular, are finding their appeal again, and old-style typewriters have become sought-after things on online auction (拍卖) sites. Though it’s no longer used as a tool in modern businesses, the typewriter still exists as a powerful symbol of a communication era.
A. Yet, the typewriter never truly went away.
B. Typewriters are still in use in some fields.
C. It started the end of the typewriter’s dominance.
D. Many people love both typewriters and computers.
E. Editing became easy, and there were endless ways to format text.
F. In the years that followed, typing became a highly valued special skill.
G. Nowadays, more and more people have started to pay attention to typewriters.

57. 阅读下面短文,根据其内容及文后要求进行写作。
Jonah pressed his hand into his dad’s old baseball glove as he looked out the window of his stepfather’s car. No one could imagine how much he missed his dad. He breathed in the glove’s warm, leathery smell. The car stopped outside the baseball field.
“Hey, buddy (伙计), have fun at practice. And don’t forget about your sister’s dancing performance tonight,” said Jonah’s stepfather, Steve, as Jonah climbed out. “Zoe was not my sister, and you couldn’t tell me what to do,” Jonah complained in his mind. Since Mom married Steve a few months ago, Jonah had a lot of mixed-up feelings. He could hardly concentrate. Even baseball — what he always loved — felt different lately.
After practice, Jonah and David, his best friend, sat together and waited for their ride. Jonah expressed how he wished things hadn’t changed and that he could still be with his own dad, not a stepfather. David comforted Jonah it was no big deal. “I have a stepmother and stepbrother too,” David smiled, “They’re just Mom and Dennis now. Give it a chance.” Jonah let out a breath, still unsure about the performance tonight. Still unsure about everything!
Back at the apartment, Jonah found Zoe in her costume, but something was wrong. Her arms tight across her chest, her eyes were filled with tears. Wondering what was up, Jonah asked Mom, who explained Zoe was just too nervous to go on stage.
Huh! This should have been the best thing that could have happened — the possibility of not going to the performance. But somehow it wasn’t. Zoe had practiced so hard. She’d reminded Jonah at least a thousand times where she would be onstage.

【答案】8. D 9. B 10. C 11. D

B. Uncertain. C. Opposed. D. Supportive.
【答案】12. C 13. D 14. A 15. C
【解析】

【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Whatever form it takes, true art is about the creative process much more than it’s about the final piece.(无论采取何种形式,真正的艺术更注重创作过程,而不是最终的作品。)”可知,儿童插画家最看重的是艺术的创作过程(the journey to creation)。
【14题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第四段中的“Beyond creativity, there are deeper issues. To create images from prompts, AI generators rely on databases of already existing art and text. This could lead to the creation of images that are intentionally meant to imitate (模仿) the style of other artists, without their agreement.(除了创造力之外,还有更深层次的问题。为了根据提示创建图像,AI生成器依赖于已有的艺术和文本数据库。这可能导致生成故意模仿其他艺术家风格的图像,且未征得他们的同意。)”可知,第四段主要讨论的是AI艺术在模仿他人作品方面涉及的道德(伦理)担忧。
【15题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“People will begin to think that their “work” is as excellent as that created by someone who has spent a career making art. It’s nonsense, of course.(人们会开始认为他们的“作品”和那些毕生从事艺术创作的人所创作的作品一样出色。当然,这纯属胡说八道。)”可知,作者对“AI作品能与专业艺术相媲美”这一观点持反对态度。
