When people list jobs that robots could never do, doctors and teachers often come to mind. It is easy to imagine robots cleaning houses or working in factories, because these jobs seem to follow clear rules. But some jobs also need warmth, judgment and creativity. Are we underestimating robots? In some ways, machines can already help doctors find some illnesses earlier, and some patients may share secrets more freely with a machine. Could robots also have a place in education?
British expert Anthony Seldon thinks so. He predicts robot teachers will enter classrooms soon. Robots will pass on knowledge, while teachers work as helpers. Smart robots read students’ faces and movements, then change their teaching to fit each student. However, robots are unlikely to have true feelings and connect with humans as real teachers do.
One thing is certain: a robot teacher is better than no teacher. In some parts of the world, there are not enough teachers, and many children under 14 cannot go to school. Robots could help because they can teach almost anywhere. They will not get stressed or tired, and they will not leave for an easier, better-paid job.
Teaching has its difficult sides. Teachers leave because the job is difficult and they feel overworked. So the question may not be “Will robots replace teachers?” but “How can robots help teachers?” Teachers spend more than 11 hours a week checking homework. If robots could cut this time, teachers would have more energy for the work that humans do best: understanding, encouraging and inspiring students.
9. What will robot teachers do in classrooms according to Anthony Seldon?
A. They will take the place of human teachers completely.
B. They will give knowledge and change teaching for students.
C. They will have true warm feelings for students.
D. They will help students keep secrets.
10. What advantage do robot teachers have?
A. They can feel stressed sometimes. B. They may leave for better-paid jobs.
C. They can teach in nearly any place. D. They can connect with humans better.
11. Why do many teachers give up their jobs?
A. They feel too tired from too much work. B. Robots are much smarter than them.
C. Students are too difficult to teach. D. They have too much free time.
12. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Robots will take all teachers’ jobs soon. B. Robots can be helpful in education.
C. Robots work better than doctors. D. Robots follow simple clear rules.

As the saying goes, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” This is the way the charity organization (慈善机构) Heifer International wants to end world hunger.
It began in the 1930s when an American farmer, Dan West, went to Spain to help people in need. He tried to feed the people with milk. But it seemed that there would never be enough milk. It made him think that what they needed was “a cow” instead of “a cup”.
Dan West went back to America then. He worked together with some friends to find ways to end hunger. Through his hard work, Heifer International was set up.
On Heifer International’s website, you will see a lot of animals like cows, chickens, pigs and even fish. You can provide help by buying some animals for one certain family. Those animals will have babies. With more and more animals, these families will not be hungry.
Heifer International also helps small-sized farms. As a rule, each farmer must give his animals’ first female (雌的) baby to another in need. Heifer International provides training on animals’ health and feeding. The organization wants the farmers to work together, and learn from each other. Maybe hunger can really stop.

Now, many people are in poor health—some are overweight and others fall ill easily. So what should you do to keep healthy? Playing sports is one of the best choices.
First, choose a sport that is right for you. For example, if you are not very strong, you can try something easy like walking. Walking is a great activity that almost anyone can do. It’s simple and fun.
Second, exercise regularly (有规律地). At first, it’s best to exercise three times a week for about thirty minutes each time. It can help you keep healthy and strong.
Third, drink enough water when exercising. Before you start, you can drink a little water. During exercise, if you feel thirsty, take small breaks to drink. After finishing, drink some water again to help your body recover. Water helps maintain energy (能量) levels, so you don’t get too tired.
Last but not least, always remember to be safe. Before exercising, warm up your body. Stretch (拉伸) your legs, arms, back, and neck for five to ten minutes. This protects you from getting hurt. After exercising, cool down by walking slowly for a few minutes to let your body relax.

We use language for all kinds of reasons, but the major one is to talk to each other. We use it to have a chat, play a game, tell jokes, ask for help, and do a thousand other things. ____21____ The everyday use of language is to have conversations with each other.
Having a conversation seems like the most natural thing in the world. We don’t think twice about it now. But it wasn’t always that way. We had to learn how to do it. ____22____
What’s the most basic rule of having a successful conversation? We take turns. I speak and then you do and then I do and then you do. ____23____ In an argument, we do sometimes hear a lot of people speaking together. But once the argument ends, everyone takes turns again.
This is especially important if there are several people taking part in a conversation. Imagine: you’re in the street talking to three other people about the latest film Dear You. ____24____ If it’s going to be a successful conversation, then all four of you need to get the chance to have your say. If that happens, everyone’s happy. If that doesn’t happen, you can end up feeling quite mad.
____25____ We have to learn how to do it. And babies start that learning process (过程) very early on, during the first year of life. They hear their mother talking… they coo or babble... the mother replies… they coo or babble again… the mother replies again. Listen-speak-listen-speak-listen. That’s the key of any conversation. We have to learn to be listeners as well as speakers.
A. We had to learn rules.
B. We don’t speak at the same time.
C. Some people are always cutting in.
D. Turn-taking doesn’t come naturally.

第二节 Reading Expression (本题共 5 个 小题,每题 2 分,共 10 分)
Each teenager meets the same question: what to do with the money? Some deal with this less well than others. Money can’t buy happiness, but it makes life easier and more comfortable. Experts say that good money habits help you feel confident and learn self-control.
Money management means using your money wisely. It includes saving, spending and giving. Studies show that kids start forming money habits by age seven, so learning early helps you make good choices in the future.
Here is a method to help you better manage your money. Prepare three jars (罐子): one for spending, one for saving, and another for giving.
The spending jar teaches you that you are responsible for your own happiness. Money gives you the choice and the chance to buy something you like. After all, it’s OK to be nice to yourself!
The saving jar helps you make preparations for future. This could include saving for university, but it could also mean saving for something special you’ve seen in the stores—it’s up to you.
The giving jar is all about kindness and helping. If you want to help out a friend, give money to an animal charity or to children in a poor area, just do it! Offering a helping hand will always give you happiness.
The purpose of the jars is to help you think more wisely about money. In this way, you will be better prepared for your adult lives about how to use the money you have. Have a try, and you will find that the small change inside your jars could make a big difference in how you manage your money.

13. What can we know about Heifer International?
A. It was set up in 1930. B. It is a charity organization.
C. It was started by a Spanish farmer. D. It was started to end world poverty (贫穷).

B. Buying milk from the farmers.
C. Helping people sell some animals.
D. Providing people in need with animals and training.

A. Sell their animals’ first baby.
B. Keep all their animals’ babies.
C. Receive free farming lessons from local farmers.
D. Give their animals’ first female baby to another in need.
16. What’s the best title for the passage?

Now, many people are in poor health—some are overweight and others fall ill easily. So what should you do to keep healthy? Playing sports is one of the best choices.
First, choose a sport that is right for you. For example, if you are not very strong, you can try something easy like walking. Walking is a great activity that almost anyone can do. It’s simple and fun.
