Virtual Reality (VR) is changing classroom learning. It creates a 3D world for students through special equipment, allowing learners to “visit” places that are hard to reach in real life.
In geography classes, students can “stand” on top of high mountains or walk through rainforests without leaving the classroom. In biology lessons, they can observe animal habitats closely. For dangerous chemistry experiments, VR offers safe virtual practice, so students can learn operation skills without risk.
Researchers say VR helps improve students’ attention. When students are put into the virtual environment, they become more active and curious about knowledge. However, VR also has limits. Long-time wearing of VR glasses may cause eye tiredness. Schools must control the using time in class.
VR will not replace teachers. It serves as a helpful tool. Teachers still guide students to think and explore while using this new technology.
24.What can VR help students do in geography class?
A.Climb real mountains.
B.Visit rainforests virtually.
C.Collect samples in wild areas.
D.Make geography maps.
25.What benefit does VR bring to chemistry study?
A.It removes all chemistry homework.
B.It lets students do risky experiments safely.
C.It can correct students’ exam papers automatically.
D.It reduces the need for chemistry textbooks.
26.What does the underlined word “habitats” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Living places.
B.Food supplies.
C.Body features.
D.Group numbers.
27.What can we learn about VR from the text?
A.VR can take the place of teachers completely.
B.Students can wear VR glasses for the whole class.
C.VR is a useful learning tool with some weaknesses.
D.VR is only used for science classes at present.

Smart libraries have been widely built in many high schools. Different from traditional libraries, they use information technology to improve reading service. Students can borrow and return books without librarians’ help.
When you enter the smart library, you only need to scan your student ID card. Books with electronic chips can be checked out in seconds. The system records your borrowing information automatically and sends reminders before the deadline. If books are overdue, the system will send messages to warn readers.
Besides self-service borrowing, the smart library can collect reading data. It records which kinds of books students prefer. Based on the data, the school can buy more popular books to meet students’ needs.
However, the smart library still needs students’ cooperation. Readers should keep books clean and avoid damaging the electronic chips. Technology offers convenience, but good reading habits still come from people themselves.
32.What can students do in the smart library?
A.Buy new books directly.
B.Borrow books by scanning student ID cards.
C.Repair damaged electronic chips.
D.Change the library’s book collection plan.
33.What will the system do if readers fail to return books on time?
A.Fine the students at once.
B.Send warning messages.
C.Lock their student ID forever.
D.Delete their borrowing records.
34.Why does the library collect students’ reading data?
A.To judge students’ grades.
B.To choose suitable new books.
C.To limit students’ reading time.
D.To find students who damage books.
35.What is the main idea of the text?
A.The advantages and requirements of school smart libraries.

Four Ways to Give Back During the Holidays

During my ninth-grade days, there was an incoming event in our school entitled “English Week” where a lot of contests were to be held. These contests were related to spelling, short story writing, recitation and more. Our teacher appointed me to be the representative of the whole ninth grade in the short story contest. She said that I had potential in terms of creative thinking because she had read my fiction.
Actually, I did not expect that and was shocked since I did not have experience being one of the contestants of any contests. And I was also unconfident in terms of joining any event in our school. Even though I refused to join in the contest, my teacher was still encouraging me and she said I just needed to believe in myself and the talent that I had. I was not that convinced of what my teacher said, but I finally gave in to her insistence.
Then I decided to make myself ready through practicing more in writing short stories. My teacher also advised that I needed to be more confident and knowledgeable in the contest that I was going to join in. The days leading up to the contest were filled with anxiety and self-doubt. I spent countless hours researching, writing a draft, and revising my story, constantly questioning whether it was good enough.
On the day of the contest, my nervousness reached its peak as I entered the competition room. The room was filled with fellow participants, all seeming confident and prepared. The pressure was immense (巨大的), as we were all aware of the strict rule: we had only one hour to create our short story once the topic was released. The results would be revealed in one month. I glanced at the clock nervously every now and then, waiting for the contest to begin.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;
2. 请按如下格式作答。
When the topic was announced(宣布), my mind went blank(空白的) for a second.
