Activity 8: Write Your Draft
Write an essay (120-150 words) about your own diet. Use the sample as a reference.
Sample Essay (for reference):
My Diet
Overall, I think I have relatively healthy eating habits, but there is still room for improvement.
As for the things that I am doing right, I eat three meals a day at regular times. I also make sure to include fresh vegetables and fruits in my diet. For example, I always have an apple or a banana for breakfast, and I eat vegetables with both lunch and dinner. This follows the article's advice to consume fresh foods rather than processed ones.
However, I have some bad habits too. I have a sweet tooth, so I often eat desserts after meals. I also drink sweet drinks like cola, which contain a lot of sugar. According to the article, sugar is a real killer, so I need to cut down on these.
My plan to improve my diet is to replace sweet drinks with water or tea. I will also limit myself to one dessert per week instead of every day. I believe these small changes will make a big difference.
In conclusion, while my diet is not perfect, I am determined to make healthier choices. After all, as the saying goes, "You are what you eat."

Option 2: Paragraph Writing
Write one paragraph (80-100 words) about ONE of the following topics:
The importance of eating slowly
Why sugar is bad for our health
The benefits of eating fresh food
Sample Answer (for reference — topic: "Why sugar is bad for our health"):
Sugar is one of the biggest enemies of our health. According to recent studies, sugar is a real driver of poor health, even more than fatty food. Heart disease, the number one killer in America, is closely linked to high sugar intake. Much of this extra sugar comes from sweet drinks like cola and juice. The American Heart Association recommends that we limit ourselves to less than 100–150 calories from sugar per day, which is less than what is in one can of sweet drink. Therefore, if we want to stay healthy, we should cut down on desserts and cut out sweet drinks altogether.
Option 3: Sentence Combining
Combine the following pairs of sentences using the linking words in brackets.
1.Fatty food is often seen as unhealthy. Sugar is actually worse for our health. (not so much...as)
2.You should eat fresh food. You should avoid processed food. (rather than)
3.Eating slowly helps you eat less. Your brain needs time to tell your body that you are full. (because)
4.We should limit our sugar intake. We should also exercise regularly. (in addition)
5.Food is important for nutrition. Food should not become the centre of our lives. (however)
Answers:
1.Fatty food is not so much unhealthy as sugar is.
2.You should eat fresh food rather than processed food.
3.Eating slowly helps you eat less because your brain needs time to tell your body that you are full.
4.We should limit our sugar intake. In addition, we should exercise regularly.
5.Food is important for nutrition. However, food should not become the centre of our lives.
