(How does the writer start)、组织方式(organizes mainly by)。
Entry is free, study in Beijing 对应 spent two years in Beijing as a student,认得出“换了皮”的同一个意思,细节题就稳了。
When can people enter the art center for free?原文表格中 Old Cotton Factory 一栏写的是 “Entry is free on Wednesday afternoons.”——enter … for free 换成 Entry is free,问的是“何时免费”,答的正是 on Wednesday afternoons,故选 B。提示:细节题的答案几乎从不照抄题干用词,先在心里给题干关键词列两三个同义说法,再回原文扫。
【点拨2】观点态度题——以Passage 5 题 5 为例:题干问 What does Susan think of China’s future?原文末段引语是 “I hope that China will become a more successful and prosperous (繁荣的) country.”——hope 与 more successful、prosperous 直接表明她持积极期待,故选 C。提示:观点态度题的答案几乎总在这一段的引语或评价性形容词里,看到 I hope / I believe / I admire 就划线。
【点拨3】推理判断题——以Passage 4 题 3 为例:题干问 What can we infer about the village after the Metog Highway…?原文写 “The dream of the villagers finally came true when the Metog Highway opened.” 后文又给出 “Today, Badeng Village is thriving. In 2025, the village earned over 8 million yuan…”。公路开通 → 梦想成真 → 今日繁荣、收入可观,由此可推“生活明显改善”,故选 C。提示:推断题的答案必须能由原文两三处细节“串”出来,只凭一句往往不够,也绝不能加入原文没有的信息。
【点拨4】推理判断·人物性格——以Passage 7 题 4 为例:题干问 Which of the following words can best describe Huang Xuhua?
What is the best title for this passage?原文结尾写 “By connecting school subjects to your daily experiences and interests, learning stops being a boring task.”——全文从“为什么上课觉得无聊”讲到“把学习和生活、兴趣连起来”,落点就在 connecting learning to life,故选与“让学习与生活相连”对应的标题。提示:判断标题能不能用,就看它能否覆盖每一段:只覆盖第三段的、或只讲“英语学习”的,一律排除。
【点拨6】词义猜测题——以Passage 2 题 2 为例:题干问 What does the underlined word “designed” in Paragraph 2 mean?原文是 “According to Wang, Hai designed a painter named Zhao Ximeng.”——前文说海漄从名画《千里江山图》得到灵感,王希孟是画中人;这里说他“以王希孟为原型创造了一个画师角色”,故 designed 意为 created(创造),选 C。提示:词义猜测只看三处——该词所在句、前一句、以及该词后面的同位语或解释性短语,不要拿词典义硬套。
【点拨7】句子还原题——以Passage 6 题 3 为例:题干问 Which of the following can be put in “ ▲ ” in paragraph 3?空格后紧跟 “If you are learning English, don’t just memorize grammar rules. Try to read English news about your favorite basketball team…”,说的是“别只背规则,要用兴趣去学”,可见 ▲ 处应是这一段的主题句,即“把学科和兴趣连起来”,故选 B。提示:还原题先看空格后一句在举什么例子,例子永远是在证明空格那句观点;再看空格前一句有没有转折或递进词。
【点拨8】篇章结构题——以Passage 4 题 4 为例:题干问 The author organizes the passage mainly by ____. 原文三段依次是 “For generations, the people of Badeng Village in Metog, Xizang, lived a quiet but difficult life”(过去)、“The dream of the villagers finally came true when the Metog Highway opened”(变化)、“Today, Badeng Village is thriving”(现在),是典型的“过去—变化—现在”时间线,故选 by time order。

Xin Xiangdong, a 51-year-old bamboo craftsman from the Monba ethnic group, remembers when “living off the mountains” meant back-breaking work. To trade (交易) his handmade bamboo baskets for flour and oil, as a teenager, Xin had to walk for eight days along dangerous mountain trails (小路) and cross rivers via zip lines. The village was like an isolated island, cut off from the rest of the world by towering peaks and rushing rivers.
The dream of the villagers finally came true when the Metog Highway opened. By 2013, roads began connecting these faraway areas, and in 2021, the whole village moved to a more convenient location with modern houses. Instead of carrying heavy loads on their backs, villagers now see trucks and tourists arriving at their doorsteps. The narrow trails have been replaced by smooth pavement, making it easy for the Monba people to share their unique culture and bamboo crafts with visitors from all over the country.
Today, Badeng Village is thriving. In 2025, the village earned over 8 million yuan, with a large part coming from tourism and bamboo sales. Passage 6
Have you ever asked yourself, “Why do I need to learn this?” Many students feel bored in class because they think the knowledge has nothing to do with their real lives. However, smart learners will try to link what they learn in school to the world around them.
When you connect learning to life, the subjects you study will become meaningful. For example, while you are learning percentages (百分比) in math, you can think about shopping. If a shirt is 30% off, you can work out how much money you will save. When you study plants in biology, you can look at the trees which grow in your neighborhood and try to identify their names.
▲ . If you are learning English, don’t just memorize grammar rules. Try to read English news about your favorite basketball team or watch an English video about cooking. When the topic interests you, you will find that you can pick up the language faster.
Another way to connect is through projects. Instead of taking a test, you can build a model, create a short video or do a survey, which requires you to put your knowledge into practical use. For instance, a student who is learning environmental protection can start a recycling program at school.
By connecting school subjects to your daily experiences and interests, learning stops being a boring task. Instead, it becomes a tool that helps you understand and improve your life. Therefore, the next time you attend a class, try to find a connection. You will discover that learning is everywhere.

In the 1950s, China started to develop nuclear submarines (核潜艇), but it was a very difficult task. Huang wasn’t afraid and stepped forward bravely. At that time, there wasn’t much advanced technology or many resources. The task was almost impossible. However, Huang and his team took on this challenge. To keep the project secret, they stopped keeping in touch with the outside world-even with their families.
During the design process, Huang and his team met lots of problems. They couldn’t get help from foreign experts, so they could only depend on their own research. They used simple tools like abacuses to calculate and do experiments with great effort. Another problem was to make sure the submarine was stable (稳定的) under the water. After many tests, they slowly solved all the problems.
Finally, in the 1970s, China’s first nuclear submarine was built and tested successfully. It made China one of the few countries that had this ability. But Huang didn’t stop after this big success. He went on to help with the development of China’s submarine technology. His hard work and devotion (奉献) won him many honors, including the Medal of the Republic in 2019.

Passage 8
Bruce Richmond is the favourite English teacher of the Year 2023 in Maple High School. Hundreds of students join his month-long free online writing lessons. Besides reading Shakespeare’s plays, he enjoys helping his students learn how to write. Now he is answering his students’ questions in the weekly Q&A section online and offering them some suggestions.
How can I make readers understand the characters quickly?
[Tip 1] Use clever names. Well, quite often Shakespeare gives information about what a person in a play is like through their names. For example, Romeo’s name means a person being romantic and kind. Benvolio can be nice and friendly. Falstaff is a character in Henry IV and he is lazy and funny. Now think what you can call a person in a play who is angry and hot-tempered all the time? Yes. Maybe Rage or Fury.
How can I express my ideas and feelings in a way full of life?
[Tip 2] Try metaphors. Shakespeare was a fan of metaphors. A metaphor is a way of comparing one thing with something else to show ideas, feelings, places and more. And the two things usually have the same qualities. In the play As You Like It, he writes, “________” What do you think of the metaphor in this sentence?
What should I do if I can’t find a proper word?
[Tip 3] Create new words. Eyeball. Lonely. Unreal... All these were created by Shakespeare. If you have an idea that you can’t think of a word for, be like Shakespeare and create your own. If you want to create words that mean something and may stand the test of time, try creating words like this: breakfast + lunch = brunch. And you can start with making up words for everyday things in your home.
Do you want to write like Shakespeare? You can put your questions here, or write to Bruce Richmond at bruce4weeksclass@163.com.
1.What can we learn about Bruce Richmond’s writing lessons?
A.They last for one week and cost some money.
B.Many students take his free online writing classes.
C.Students can watch Shakespeare’s plays in the lessons.
D.He gives lessons and answers questions at school.
2.What question might Sam ask?
A.What’s the most important thing to do to write good plots?
B.Why is the language really hard to understand?
C.What’s a quick way to make readers understand the characters?
D.How are all the details of the play put together?
3.For Tip 2, which of the following best fits the blank?
A.Do you not know I am a woman? When I think, I must speak.
B.One touch of nature makes the whole world families and relatives.
C.A fool thinks he is wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.
D.All the world is a stage and all the men and women only players.
4.What might Bruce Richmond suggest to Thomas?
A.Make up new words. B.Translate some words.
C.Learn new words. D.Look for similar words.
5.The passage is written to ________.
A.encourage young students to be kind in their real life
B.attract parents to buy Shakespeare’s plays for their children
C.teach young students how to write like Shakespeare
D.show teachers that writing skills are too hard for the students
【答案】
1.B 2.C 3.D 4.A 5.C

For generations, the people of Badeng Village in Metog, Xizang, lived a quiet but difficult life deep in the Himalayas.
Many families have opened small restaurants and cozy homestays for travelers. For Xin Xiangdong, “living off the mountains” no longer means just surviving through hard labor.
1.Why do many students feel bored in class?
A.Because they have too much knowledge to learn.

Passage 7
Huang Xuhua, a great Chinese scientist, passed away on February 6, 2025. But his great achievements and strong spirit will always stay in our hearts and keep lighting up China’s way forward.
Huang was born in Guangdong Province in 1926. When he was young, he saw the hard times of China. Then he studied hard and decided to make the country strong with his knowledge.
