①Almost everybody has had pimples (青春痘). It is a normal part of growing up. When kids reach teens, their bodies experience many changes. During this period, most teenagers often develop pimples. Also, many people continue to have pimples after teens. What can a teenager or an adult do to deal with pimples? Unluckily, many ways are really just myths.
②Many people believe that popping (挤) pimples is the best way. Popping a pimple will cause more redness and pain, or even probably turn into an illness. For that reason, doctors normally encourage people not to pop their pimples.
③Also, do you think that washing your face often will be helpful? Of course, it is a good idea, but washing your face too much could make the skin painful, making the pimples even worse.
④Another widely believed myth is that not wearing make-up can help lower the chance of developing pimples. In fact, some kinds of make-up actually have special medicine in them to fight pimples. As a result, not all of them are bad for you.
⑤Along with make-up, people believe that eating fatty foods or chocolate can cause pimples. The truth is that eating a candy or a piece of pizza will not cause pimples. Even so, both teenagers and adults should still try to eat foods that are good for their bodies and their skin.

When the bell rang, Matt entered the classroom with a heavy heart. “Hey, Matt,” his best friend Tom greeted him. He and Tom were in the school’s basketball team. “Why the long face? Are you still feeling blue (情绪低落) about Saturday night’s game?” Tom asked.
“Of course I am,” Matt said quietly. He didn’t dare (敢) to look at Tom as he spoke. “I’m really sorry about letting everybody down. The other team got those points because of me.”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself!” Tom said. “Although you pushed their player, it was just an accident. Everyone knows that!”
Tom was a good friend. But Matt knew the referee (裁判) didn’t share Tom’s opinion. When the referee saw Matt push another player, he gave the other team two free throws (两次罚球机会). Matt was as shocked as anyone else when the accident happened, but it was too late. He couldn’t take it back.
“I guess we have to respect his decision,” Matt said after a while. “But we had a good chance to win until I made that mistake. Why wasn’t I more careful?”
“Listen, Matt,” said Tom, “try to look on the bright side. The other team is the best in our area, but our scores were really close. I’m proud of us, and I know our coach and everyone else in our school are as well.”
Matt felt a bit better. “Thanks, Tom. I guess it’s just hard (难受的) to lose.”
“Hey, you can’t win them all,” said Tom. “It’s more important to learn from your mistakes so that you don’t repeat them from now on. We’ll keep working together as a team. One for all, and all for one, right?”
“You’re right. If we pull together, we should win next time.” Matt smiled. He was lucky to have a friend like Tom!

13.细节理解题。第四段第二句明确提到:“When the referee saw Matt push another player, he gave the other team two free throws.”,说明裁判看到Matt推人后,判给了对方球队两次罚球的机会。

第三部分 写作(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共5小题;满分10分)
阅读下面短文,按照题目要求用英语回答问题,并将答案写到相应位置。
With the coming climate crisis (危机), bicycles are getting more and more popular. But where did the bicycle come from? Who invented it?
You may be surprised to learn that the bicycle was invented several years later than the railway locomotive (机车)! But the bicycle has come a long way since the day it was invented. It is widely believed that the bicycle was invented by a Scottish blacksmith (铁匠), Kirkpatrick MacMillan, around 1839.
MacMillan developed his bicycle from an older wheeled vehicle (交通工具), called a “hobby horse”. It was a wooden horse with two wheels. The rider sat on it and pushed the vehicle with feet to move forward. However, it had no direction control and no stopping parts. This means ___________________________.
MacMillan, also called Mad Pate, improved the hobby horse, by adding a system of articulated bars (连接杆系统). The rider could push the bars back and forwards with his feet, and make the back wheel go round. He could also control the direction of the moving bicycle, as the front wheel could be turned.
To show his invention, MacMillan rode about 60 miles to Glasgow! It must have been a terrible journey, on the roads of the day! Pate’s bicycle did not have rubber tyres (橡胶轮胎) or springs (弹簧).
Mad Pate was not accepted in his time, but other people became interested in bicycles. Twenty-five years later, a Frenchman added rotary pedals (回转脚蹬) , and in 1876, H. J. Lawson added the chain system. Other parts, like rubber tyres, have appeared since then. But the basic bicycle has not changed.
Today, the bicycle is probably the most common form of transport in the world. Non-polluting and easy to ride, it has a bright future. Thanks, Pate!
