A. A host. B. A photographer. C. A writer. 10. What does Alex find most challenging about filming wildlife underwater? A. Predicting animals’ behaviors. B. Grabbing the perfect moment quickly. C. Communicating underwater with divers. 11. What does Alex suggest new underwater photographers do? A. Choose suitable subjects. B. Take shots of small things at first. C. Avoid getting too close to the subjects. 12. What is the main attraction for Alex to go to Sardinia? A. The convenient location. B. The wide range of underwater life. C. The temperature and clarity of the water. C 10. B 11. A 12. W: My guest today is the photographer Alex Mustard, who specializes in underwater shots. His cooperation with Nick Hanna, a master storyteller, resulted in the book entitled The Art of Diving. Alex, how much is luck and how much is judgment to get great shots? M: With wildlife shots, it’s not always the case that you can get the animals to behave in the way you want. When you spend much time in the ocean though, you get to predict behaviors and you get used to knowing when and where you’re going to get particular shots. But often there’s only a second to grab the shot you have in mind, which is the hardest part. With diver shots, communication is tough underwater, so everything needs planning ahead. W: What advice would you give to new underwater photographers? M: Well, the most important thing is to choose your subject very carefully; find something that you can get close to, that’s not going to swim away, and that’s a not too big or too small size. W: So what’s next for you? M: I’m planning a trip to Sardinia — within easy reach of the airport at Olbia. And the water’s lovely and warm. But these aren’t really the draws for me. It’s more the underwater landscapes — like the soft corals and the fish life. 13. Why does the woman make the phone call? A. To ask about her package. B. To order a gift for a friend. C. To show thanks to the man. 14. How does the woman feel now? A. Delighted. B. Anxious. C. Surprised. 15. What might the date be today? A. November 14. B. November 16. C. November 20. 16. What does the woman decide to do next? A. Make calls again and again. B. Wait for her package to arrive. C. Check the phone number at once. A 14. B 15. C 16. M: This is Jack. I’m the marketing manager. How can I help you? W: Hello, I haven’t received my package yet. It’s almost been a week and I’ve already paid for it. M: I’m really sorry about that, ma’am. But, first, may I have your name please? W: This is Sarah Roberts. I need the package by today. The package is a gift for my friend and it’s her birthday today. M: We are sorry about that and we’ll try to take care of the issue. What was the date of the order? W: I don’t think that would help. You just take my order number and deliver my product by noon. M: Ms Roberts, if you tell me the date you placed the order, I’ll check whether it has been sent or not. I’m here to help you. W: Oh, all right. The date of the order is November 14. M: OK. I’ve checked it. Your order has already been sent out and it’s scheduled to be delivered today. W: I hope so. I’m tired of calling you guys again and again. M: I’m sorry for your trouble. 17. How many ways of handing in their assignments are mentioned in the passage? A. Two. B. Three. C. One. 18. How can teachers make a comment on students’ assignments before? A. Highlight something and make it red. B. Change the font or the size. C. Circle it and write “spelling”. 19. How can students avoid late homework in a paperless class? A. They can slip a paper under the teacher’s door. B. They can use the computer to log. C. They can’t get around paper trail. 20. What’s the advantage of a paperless class? A. It goes very quick. B. Assignments can be posted on a web page. C. They can e-mail their assignments to their teachers. A 18. C 19. C 20. M: A paperless class means that teachers don’t use paper in or after class all of the students’ assignments were posted on a web page so for each of their papers or essays they had to write students could just go online and read the descriptions of the assignment and all the requirements and then they could either type them up and email them to teachers or they could type them up directly in like a text format screen on the web so that a teacher could do all of the grading for the papers online. It’s easier for teachers because they can just highlight something and makes it read or whatever and it’s much quicker than like circling it and writing spelling. Once teachers get in the habit of doing it with the mouse it goes very quickly and they can also make a comment by changing the font or the size and typed directly in the text. Most of the students liked it but there was a small majority that usually when they were late or whenever they want to just like slip a paper under the teacher’s door they couldn’t do that because if their paper was late the computer doesn’t lie. It was logged in at this time and they can’t get around that kind of paper trail. A Green River Preserve Green River Preserve is a non-competitive summer camp connecting children to nature. But it is often during these tough times that tales of extraordinary bravery and perseverance surface. Cara Brookins’ story of changing her family’s lives is an example of this. Cara Brookins, a mother of four, found herself emotionally tired after ending her unlucky marriage. With limited money, finding a suitable home for her four children seemed impossible. Therefore, she made a plan to build their own home from scratch, even though the idea seemed unconventional and a little crazy. Cara purchased a one-acre plot of land and secured a construction loan of approximately $150,000. But completing their home was far from easy. Without previous experience of building homes, Cara learned everything, from laying the foundations to running gas lines and setting up plumbing, through online courses. However, the courses on YouTube were often confusing, and there were countless ways to approach a single task. Recognizing that, Cara decided to hire a part-time firefighter with building experience. To balance work and study, Cara committed herself to the project, often working late into the night. Fortunately, the Brookins family has a strong tradition of tackling challenges together as a family. Fifteen-year-old Drew assisted his mother in designing plans, while eleven-year-old Jada transported water from a neighbor’s pond. And Jada played a crucial role in mixing it with concrete. Nine months later, the Brookins family moved into their new five-bedroom home, which they named the Inkwell Manor. For Cara Brookins, building their own shelter was not something to be proud of. However, it turned out to be the most encouraging thing she could have done for herself and her children. Through this experience, she has discovered that there is enormous power in setting a goal and persevering. She believes that anyone can achieve greatness if they decide on a single aim and take small steps towards it. 24. What eventually helped Cara clear up her confusion in building techniques? A. Her determination to reunite her family. B. The skills she learned through online courses. C. Her reflection on her building experience. D. The guidance of the experienced firefighter. 25. Which best describes Cara in rebuilding her house? A. Intelligent and creative. B. Devoted and modest. C. Knowledgeable and patient. D. Professional and thoughtful. 26. What does paragraph 4 show about the Inkwell Manor? A. It improved Cara’s relationship with her children. B. It reflected advanced home building technology. C. It was an example of creative house design. D. It was the fruit of the family’s joint efforts 27. What did Cara learn through her experience? A. Where there’s a will there’s a way. B. Adversity is the midwife of genius. C. Sharp tools make good work. D. It’s never too late to learn. D 25. B 26. D 27. 根据第三段中的“However, the courses on YouTube were often confusing, and there were countless ways to approach a single task. Recognizing that, Cara decided to hire a part-time firefighter with building experience.(然而,YouTube上的课程常常令人困惑,一项任务有无数种完成方式。意识到这点后,卡拉决定聘请一名有建房经验的兼职消防员)”可知,经验丰富的消防员的指导帮她解决了建房技术上的困惑。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“Without previous experience of building homes, Cara learned everything, from laying the foundations to running gas lines and setting up plumbing, through online courses.(卡拉没有建房经验,她通过网络课程学习了从打地基、铺设燃气管道到安装水暖设备的所有知识)”以及第四段中的“To balance work and study, Cara committed herself to the project, often working late into the night.(为平衡工作和学习,卡拉全身心投入建房项目,经常工作到深夜)”可知,卡拉踏实投入、潜心钻研,谦逊求学、踏实做事,兼具投入与谦逊的特质。 根据第四段中的“Fortunately, the Brookins family has a strong tradition of tackling challenges together as a family. Fifteen-year-old Drew assisted his mother in designing plans, while eleven-year-old Jada transported water from a neighbor’s pond. And Jada played a crucial role in mixing it with concrete.(幸运的是,布鲁金斯一家有着共同克服困难的优良传统。15岁的德鲁协助母亲设计图纸,11岁的杰达从邻居池塘运水,并在搅拌混凝土的工作中发挥了关键作用)”可知,这座新居是全家人共同努力的成果。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Through this experience, she has discovered that there is enormous power in setting a goal and persevering. She believes that anyone can achieve greatness if they decide on a single aim and take small steps towards it.(通过这次经历,她发现设定目标并坚持不懈拥有巨大的力量。她相信任何人只要确定一个目标并为之稳步前行,就能成就不凡)”可知,卡拉明白了有志者事竟成的道理。 C In our human-centric view, the ability to shoot ink or change colors may seem odd, but you know what’s really odd? Menopause (更年期). You can count species other than humans known to experience and outlive menopause on one hand. Only orcas (虎鲸) and some whale populations have females that live long past their reproductive years to become grandmothers. But a new, landmark study confirms that at least one population of chimpanzees can now be added to the list. The discovery comes as the result of 21 years’ worth of observing the Ngogo community of wild chimpanzees in Kibale National Park, Uganda. Studying urine from 66 Ngogo females, aged 14 to 67, showed that their hormone levels changed after approaching 50, confirming they were in menopause. Interestingly, 50 is also the age when many people begin to experience menopause. “It’s really cool to finally have that piece of the puzzle come into place,” says Catherine Hobaiter, a primatologist who was not part of the new study. But Catherine points out that the Ngogo community lives in a chimp paradise: the resource-rich, well-protected Kibale National Park that also lacks leopards, their main predator. And because the Ngogo community is found in the heart of the park, its only neighbors are other chimps — not humans who can expose chimpanzees to viruses that have devastated other communities. “The Ngogo population may be an outlier (特殊群体) when it comes to the rest of the species,” she cautions. And there is a question concerning “the grandmother effect”, according to which a grandmother has a decidedly beneficial effect on her children and grandchildren. Chimpanzees do not form long-term pair-bonds and females leave in search of new communities when they reach maturity, which means grandmother chimpanzees likely don’t know who their grandchildren are in the same way humans or even orcas do. What they do after menopause remains a question of interest. “And that’s all future work to be done,” said Catherine. 28. What can be learned about menopause? A. It is rare among animals. B. It is unique to human beings. C. It is limited to the age of 50. D. It is linked to living environments. 29. What does the underlined part in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Scientists have solved the menopause puzzle. B. Ngogo females’ condition remains a mystery. C. Chimpanzee menopause is still in question. D. The finding offers new insight into animal menopause. 30. Why does Catherine mention the living situation of the Ngogo community? A. To argue the finding is groundless. B. To point out a possible study limitation. C. To prove the Ngogo chimps are ideal subjects. D. To stress the need to protect chimps from viruses. 31. How is the last paragraph developed? A. By drawing a firm conclusion. B. By listing several research examples. C. By comparing different animal behaviors. D. By analyzing a concept with supporting facts. A 29. D 30. B 31. 根据第一段的“You can count species other than humans known to experience and outlive menopause on one hand.(你可以说,除人类之外,已知会经历更年期且活过更年期的物种用一只手就能数过来)”可知,更年期在动物中很罕见。 根据第二段的“Studying urine from 66 Ngogo females, aged 14 to 67, showed that their hormone levels changed after approaching 50, confirming they were in menopause. Interestingly, 50 is also the age when many people begin to experience menopause.(对66只年龄在14至67岁之间的Ngogo雌性黑猩猩的尿液进行研究发现,它们在接近50岁时激素水平发生变化,证实了它们已进入更年期。有趣的是,50岁也是许多人开始经历更年期的年龄)”可知,这项里程碑研究证实黑猩猩种群也存在更年期。故划线词意思是“这一发现为动物更年期提供了新的见解”。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段““The Ngogo population may be an outlier (特殊群体) when it comes to the rest of the species,” she cautions.(“就黑猩猩物种的其余种群而言,Ngogo种群可能是个特例,”她提醒道)”可知,凯瑟琳提到Ngogo社区的生活状况是为了指出一项可能的研究局限性。 根据最后一段“And there is a question concerning “the grandmother effect”, according to which a grandmother has a decidedly beneficial effect on her children and grandchildren. Chimpanzees do not form long-term pair-bonds and females leave in search of new communities when they reach maturity, which means grandmother chimpanzees likely don’t know who their grandchildren are in the same way humans or even orcas do. What they do after menopause remains a question of interest. “And that’s all future work to be done,” said Catherine.(还有一个关于“祖母效应”的问题,即祖母对子女和孙辈有着明显积极的影响。黑猩猩不会建立长期的伴侣关系,雌性在成年后会离开寻找新的群体,这意味着黑猩猩的祖母很可能不像人类甚至虎鲸那样清楚自己孙辈的身份。而她们在更年期之后的行为仍是一个值得研究的问题。“这是未来需要完成的工作,”凯瑟琳说)”可知,最后一段通过分析一个概念并辅以相关论据展开。 D My phone buzzed with a video titled “WARNING: 5 Foods That Are Actually Plastic.” My mother doesn’t offer advice; she issues warnings. I suspect her phone has declared war on me. Every time she scrolls, the feed whispers to her that my favorite snack is a “poison”. I never challenge her claims, since she trusts a forwarded article more than my college degree. One day, she was telling me about a fitness contest at her gym, and I started lecturing about body fat percentages. While I was spreading all this wisdom, I was glued to the sofa, extending one leg like a crane to grab the remote with my big toe to avoid sitting up. She was watching me with a blank expression, “If you worked out as hard as you avoided standing up, you would be in great shape now.” To my face, she’s a critic, but I caught her describing me as a “highly intellectual, talented person” on a call with my aunt. From the next room, I wondered, “Wait, who is she talking about? Am I that person?” She is the only one allowed to roast her children. It’s a “membership-only” club. Even when she praises me, it’s her way of saying, “I raised this, so of course it’s excellent,” although she just told me five minutes ago that my room looks like a disaster zone. Despite her warnings, she’s always the first I run to when I need help. Every festival or family event becomes her next design assignment. I send her screenshots of high-fashion looks, like a creative director with impossible demands. She looks at the picture, gives her signature nervous laugh and says, “I’m not a certified fashion designer.” But then she spends hours on the floor with chalk and a measuring tape. She eventually creates her own edition, and somehow, her version turns out better than the original. And maybe that’s just another way mothers say they love you. 32. Why does the author avoid challenging her mother’s claims? A. It will hurt her mother’s feelings. B. She respects her mother’s authority. C. It is useless to argue with her mother. D. She believes in warnings from her mother. 33. How does the mother sound in paragraph 3? A. Deeply annoyed. B. Playfully mean. C. Genuinely proud. D. Bitterly jealous. 34. What does the “membership-only club” indicate? A. Only the mother can criticize the author. B. Family members get automatic membership. C. The mother only praises the author in private. D. Club members are encouraged to judge the author. 35. What can be inferred about the mother from paragraph 6? A. She enjoys assigning festival tasks. B. She values professional certification. C. She takes pride in raising a designer. D. She expresses love through practical acts. C 33. B 34. A 35. 根据第二段中的“I never challenge her claims, since she trusts a forwarded article more than my college degree. (我从不质疑她的说法,因为比起我的大学学历,她更相信转发来的文章。)”可知,母亲的观念根深蒂固,与她争论毫无意义,所以作者从不挑战她的说法。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中作者的情况“While I was spreading all this wisdom, I was glued to the sofa, extending one leg like a crane to grab the remote with my big toe to avoid sitting up. (我一边滔滔不绝地分享这些真知灼见,一边牢牢赖在沙发上,像鹤一样伸出一条腿,用大脚趾去勾遥控器,就不用坐起身。)”以及作者妈妈的评论“If you worked out as hard as you avoided standing up, you would be in great shape now. (如果你像避免站起来一样努力锻炼,你现在身材会很好。)”可知,母亲看到作者懒得用脚趾抓遥控器,用调侃的语气吐槽她的懒惰,由此可推知母亲的语气是开玩笑式的刻薄。 【34题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第五段中“membership-only club”前面的“She is the only one allowed to roast her children. (只有她才被允许吐槽自己的孩子。)”可知,该短语指只有母亲才有资格批评作者,别人不可以随意评判她的孩子。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据第六段中的“Every festival or family event becomes her next design assignment. I send her screenshots of high-fashion looks, like a creative director with impossible demands. (每一个节日或家庭活动,都成了她的下一项设计任务。我会把高定造型的截图发给她,就像一个有着各种苛刻要求的创意总监。)”、妈妈的回复“I’m not a certified fashion designer. (我并不是持证时尚设计师。)”以及“But then she spends hours on the floor with chalk and a measuring tape. (但她还是花几个小时在地上用粉笔和卷尺量来量去。)”可知,母亲嘴上说自己不是专业设计师,实际却用心为作者制作节日服装。由此可推知母亲是通过实际行动来表达爱的。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Have you ever seen a duck gracefully floating on a pond? While it appears peaceful above the water, its feet are paddling fast to stay afloat underneath. This contrast illustrates “floating duck syndrome”, a term that describes the tendency for people to mask their internal stress and struggles behind an appearance of outward success and calm. ____36____ Just like ducks, they attempt to present an image of accomplishment while struggling with internal stress. Underneath the calm appearance, there is anxiety, self-doubt, and the persistent pursuit of achievement. This is a struggle hidden from casual observation but keenly felt by those who experience it firsthand. Modern life demands the constant need to hand responsibilities across school, work, family, and leisure. Therefore, individuals try to be outstanding in multiple areas while covering up their struggles, leading to their hard work and suffering going unnoticed. ____37____. Through this disconnection between perception and reality, the pressure to appear effortlessly successful becomes obvious. When we underestimate the challenges of success, we find ourselves stretched thin across a large number of tasks. ____38____ Although this strategy might have short-term successes, it ultimately leaves us with many unmet expectations. Floating duck syndrome can have concerning impacts on our well-being and connectedness. ____39____. This internalization of struggle not only adds weight to our burdens but also separates us from potential sources of support. We may cheat ourselves into believing that we must deal with our challenges alone, without needing help from others. This only makes it harder to cope effectively and denies us the opportunity to connect genuinely with others. The idea of easy success hides a deeper truth. ____40____ By accepting our weakness and acknowledging these efforts, we promote a culture of openness and care — one where seeking help is not viewed as a sign of weakness, but rather as a courageous step forward. A. It is like jugglers (杂技演员) trying to keep several balls in the air at once. B. To keep a capable appearance, we may hide the stress from public view. C. True achievements often require us to accept the hard work behind them. D. So we usually mistakenly believe that achievements come easily to others. E. When they passed by Tubman Park, Isabel suggested cutting through it to get to the library. As they entered the park, the sight of the swings (秋千) and the merry-go-round brought back a flood of memories of their childhood spent there. But now everything looked so old, sad, and dirty. Litter lay on the ground next to an overflowing trash bin. There were still young schoolchildren playing there but they had to avoid the trash that littered the playground. A little boy told them that the city took the other trash cans away and the remaining one never got emptied often. As they headed toward the library, the two high school students wrinkled their forehead. In the library, they encountered Mrs. Evans, their kind-hearted fifth-grade teacher, retired yet still passionate. Mrs. Evans listened as Isabel and Peter eagerly explained what they’d seen. Finally, she recommended them to go to the City Hall to voice their concerns. The next day, Isabel and Peter went into the building of the City Hall but were met with an impatient officer. They were informed that the city couldn’t help with their problem due to a tight budget. Discouraged, they left and turned to Mrs. Evans for help. Under her guidance, they decided to ask Go Green, a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment, for help. “This group is good at raising money for projects just like yours,” said Mrs. Evans. She promised to arrange them to present their ideas to Go Green. Hearing this, their faces lit up. Two main tasks remained ahead: researching ways to clean up the park and preparing a convincing presentation. As Isabel was good at researching while Peter always had a talent for speaking, they co-operated quite well. Isabel learned from a science magazine that a new type of trash bin can squeeze the trash down without being emptied often, which saves time, money, and energy. Based on this, Peter practiced his presentation over and over again. A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the meeting, Isabel excitedly told Peter the good news. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】例文 A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting. Finally, it was time for him to do the presentation. Standing in front of several experts from Go Green, Peter was nervous in fear of screwing things up. But unbelievably, when he began to speak, everything went so smoothly. His voice was clear and influential, and his speech was logical and well-organized. Peter ended his presentation with a deep bow and went out to wait for Go Green’s decision. After the meeting, Isabel excitedly told Peter the good news. Their ideas were approved and Go Green agreed to provide the money they needed to purchase the trash bin. Peter smiled. It meant not only their efforts paid off, but also Tubman Park would restore its cleanliness and tidiness. Peter and Isabel decided to tell Mrs. Evans this good news first and then worked out the next step they needed to take. 词汇激活 行为类 ①发言:speak/address ②搞砸:screw up/mess up 情绪类 ①紧张:nervous/tense ②顺畅:smoothly/fluently 【点睛】[高分句型1] Standing in front of several experts from Go Green, Peter was nervous in fear of screwing things up.(运用了现在分词短语Standing作状语,动名词短语screwing作宾语) [高分句型2] It meant not only their efforts paid off, but also Tubman Park would restore its cleanliness and tidiness.(运用了“not only...but also...” What will Margy do next? C In our human-centric view, the ability to shoot ink or change colors may seem odd, but you know what’s really odd? D My phone buzzed with a video titled “WARNING: 5 Foods That Are Actually Plastic.” My mother doesn’t offer advice; she issues warnings. Have you ever seen a duck gracefully floating on a pond? E. These findings highlight our tendency to cover up visible signs of struggle. F. Floating duck syndrome is particularly common among high-achieving people. G. We may feel pressured to present an outward image of competence and strength. A young artist named Lin moved to the city to pursue his dreams. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Dad, can I turn on the air conditioning and feeling hot market? His CoOperation with neck ha, a master storyteller, resulted in the book entitled the art of diving. Alex, how much is luck and how much is judgment to get great shots with wildlife? Shots is not always the case that you can get the animals to behave in the way you want. When you spend much time in the ocean, though, you get to predict behaviors and you get used to knowing when and where you're going to get particular shots. But often there's only a second to grab the shot you have in mind, which is the hardest part with diver shots. Communication is tough under water, so everything needs planning ahead. What advice would you give to new underwater photographers? Well, the most . important thing is to choose your subject very carefully. Find something that you can get close to that's not going to swim away and that's not too big or too small size. So what's next for you? I'm planning a trip to ardini with an easy reach of the airport at alba, and the water's lovely and warm. But these aren't really the draws for me. It's more the underwater landscapes like the soft corals and the fish life. My guest today is the photographer alex mustard, who specializes in underwater shots. All of the students assignments were posted on a one page, so for each of their papers or essays they had to write, students could just go online and read the descriptions of the assignment and all the requirements. And then they could either type them up and email them to teachers, or they can type them up directly in like a text format screen on the web so that a teacher could do all of the grading for the papers online. It's easier for teachers because they can just highlight something and makes IT red or whatever. And it's much quicker than like circling IT and writing spelling. Once teachers get in the habit of doing IT with the mouse, IT goes very quickly. And they can also make a comment by changing the fund or the size and typed directly in the text. Most of the students liked IT, but there was a small majority that usually when they were late or whenever they want to, just like slip of paper under the teacher's door, they couldn't do that because if their paper was late, the computer doesn't lie. IT was logged in at this time, and they can't get around that kind of paper trail. A paper with class means that teachers don't use paper in or after class.
