When I was in Senior 1, I considered myself a quick learner. I could finish most homework in half the time it took my classmates, so I developed a habit — doing everything at the last minute.
Then came the physics contest. Confident as ever, I waited until the week before the contest to prepare. “It’s just some basic knowledge,” I told myself. The result was disappointing: I didn’t even get an honorable mention.
My physics teacher, Mr. Chen, noticed my depression. Instead of comforting me, he handed me a small pot with some soil and three seeds. “Plant them,” he said, “and tell me what you learn.”
Confused but curious, I watered the pot every day. Two weeks later, nothing happened. I almost gave up. “Keep going,” Mr. Chen said. In the third week, a tiny green shoot (嫩芽) broke through the soil. Then came the second and the third. Watching them grow inch by inch, I suddenly understood what Mr. Chen wanted to teach me.
“Knowledge is like these seeds,” he said with a smile. “If you plant it late, no matter how smart you are, it won’t have enough time to grow before the harvest day.”
From that day on, I changed the way I studied. I made a plan at the beginning of each month and finished tasks little by little. My grades improved steadily, but the most valuable thing I gained was not scores — it was the understanding that true ability comes from daily effort, not last-minute luck.
4. What was the author’s habit in Senior 1?
A. Finishing homework ahead of time.
B. Helping classmates with homework.
C. Putting things off until the last minute.
D. Spending hours on physics problems.
5. How did the author feel after the physics contest?

C. Relieved.
D. Surprised.
6. Why did Mr. Chen give the author the seeds?
A. To teach him how to grow plants.
B. To help him realize knowledge needs time to grow.
C. To help him forget the contest.
D. To encourage him to study biology.
7. What did the author benefit most from the experience?
A. A higher score in physics.
B. The skills of making plans.
C. The understanding of daily effort.
D. A hobby of growing plants.
C 5. B 6. B 7. C

C
There’s an old folk saying: Be careful not to keep an ugly expression on your face, for if the wind changes, your features might set that way, leaving you stuck with that unpleasant look and mood forever. Whoever those “old wives” were, they might have been onto something. It seems that the attitudes we hold and the faces we show to others are closely linked to the kind of person we ultimately become on the inside.
Olga Khazan, a staff writer at The Atlantic, argues that what we perceive as “personality” isn’t fixed or inborn; instead, it’s a mix of habitual behaviors and attitudes. In this sense, personality is subject to reshaping by the will. In Me, But Better, Ms. Khazan describes her attempts to modify elements of her own personality by adjusting the so-called big-five qualities: openness, responsibility, extroversion(外向), agreeableness and emotional management.
Ms. Khazan’s goal is to transform herself, over the course of one year, from a disagreeable introvert into a sunny, lively extrovert. To fight against overwhelming anxiety, she forces herself to take risks in the free-for-all of improvisational(即兴的) comedy. To overcome a history of being a buzzkill, she sets about throwing parties, writes down funny stories to share, stocks up on board games to keep the mood light, and even practices responding to jokes with genuine laughter instead of a half-hearted smile, determined not to let her usual pessimism dampen the mood. Suffering from the awareness that she has long been an unreliable friend, she downloads apps that help her meet strangers with whom she might develop a lasting bond. She joins Zoom sessions for anger management. She practices mindfulness. She feeds the homeless.
While exploring “the science and promise of personality change”, as the book’s subtitle has it, the author is humorously open about her sometimes embarrassing efforts to overcome her many shortcomings. Her straightforwardness has the effect of getting readers on her side. We’re rooting for her and, to be honest, we’re rooting for ourselves, too. If someone overly anxious like Ms. Khazan can become calmer, who among us cannot?
8. What message does the old folk saying deliver?
A. Our face often mirrors our attitude.
B. Outer expressions can shape inner character.
C. Others’ opinions reflect how we feel inside.
D. Changing weather may influence our moods.
9. What does Khazan’s book mainly focus on?
A. Five qualities of human personality. B. The power of behavior and attitudes.
C. The guidelines on becoming ambitious. D. A practical journey of self-improvement.
10. What does the underlined word “buzzkill” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Someone fearing loneliness. B. Someone lacking assistance.
C. Someone ruining the enjoyment. D. Someone changing his mind easily.
11. How does Khazan’s example impact the readers?
A. It brings them hope. B. It raises their doubt.
C. It discourages them from trying. D. It helps them admit weaknesses.
B 9. D 10. C 11. A

根据第一段“There’s an old folk saying: Be careful not to keep an ugly expression on your face, for if the wind changes, your features might set that way, leaving you stuck with that unpleasant look and mood forever.(有句古老的民间谚语:别总板着一张难看的脸,万一风向变了,你的表情就可能定格成那样,永远带着那副不快的神情和心情。)”
根据第二段“In Me, But Better, Ms. Khazan describes her attempts to modify elements of her own personality by adjusting the so-called big-five qualities: openness, responsibility, extroversion(外向), agreeableness and emotional management.(在《重塑更好的我》一书中,卡赞女士描述了她试图通过调整所谓的五大人格特质(开放性、责任心、外向性、亲和性和情绪管理能力)来改变自己性格中某些方面的努力。)”
根据第三段“To overcome a history of being a buzzkill, she sets about throwing parties, writes down funny stories to share, stocks up on board games to keep the mood light, and even practices responding to jokes with genuine laughter instead of a half-hearted smile, determined not to let her usual pessimism dampen the mood.(为了克服自己一贯是一个buzzkill的印象,她开始举办派对,记录下有趣的故事来分享,储备各类益智游戏以保持气氛轻松,甚至练习用真心的笑声而非勉强的微笑来回应笑话,决心不让自己一贯的悲观情绪破坏大家的兴致。)”
根据最后一段“Her straightforwardness has the effect of getting readers on her side. We’re rooting for her and, to be honest, we’re rooting for ourselves, too. If someone overly anxious like Ms. Khazan can become calmer, who among us cannot?(她的坦率让读者都愿意站在她这边。我们支持她,而且说实话,我们也为自己加油鼓劲。如果像卡赞女士这样过度焦虑的人都能变得冷静下来,我们当中又有谁做不到呢?)”可知,卡赞的事例使读者们相信自己都能够像她一样不再焦虑,冷静下来,可见她给人们带来了希望。故选A。
D
Using artificial intelligence to create artworks increases artists’ productivity and generates more positive reactions, according to a study involving submissions to a popular art-sharing website by more than 50,000 users. But generative AI works are more likely to display stereotypical themes, reducing the novelty of an artist’s work.
The researchers tracked 4 million works published on the website by the artists. The artists self-divided into two groups: those who continued to work using traditional methods — a sort of control group, and those who adopted AI. The latter group, numbering about 5,800, were identified by the use of tags (标签) on their work, such as “AI-generated” or the names of the AI tools. Works posted into AI art communities on the site were also included.
Artists who adopted AI tools saw their productivity measured by the number of works posted increase by 25 percent over the study period. They also saw a 50 percent rise in the number of “favorites” their work received over six months. But novelty, measured by the subject matter and specific details of the work, decreased for the AI-using group.
“The study completely tracks with my own experience with these tools and spaces,” says Andres Guadamuz at the University of Sussex, UK. “At first, it felt that you could do anything, bring anything in your head into existence, but the more I used them, the more I kept coming back to themes I liked.”
Guadamuz points out that he isn’t judging the quality of the images produced by generative AI nor their originality, nor the creativity involved in the process. All these things are often hotly contested, with some artists saying that generative AI is using their works as training data and limiting their ability to be recognized as creatives.
Zhou at Boston University is also considering these questions. He says, “The generative technology accelerates the ability to produce. But it raises other issues: Are we giving up the process of understanding what goes into being creative and producing something meaningful, in favour of just being able to force our way with technology?”
12. What do we know about the artworks created by AI according to paragraph 1?
A. They are abundant but less creative.
B. They are generative but less popular.
C. They balance popularity with artistic depth.
D. They attract viewers with the trendy subjects.
13. How was the study conducted?
A. By surveying artists’ opinions on AI tools using.
B. By analyzing suggestions on generative AI works.
C. By comparing AI-assisted artworks with traditional ones.
D. By observing the process of AI-assisted artistic creation.
14. What can be inferred from Guadamuz’s statement?
A. AI tools help artists explore new creative styles.
B. AI users receive more recognition for their creativity.
C. Artists believe AI improves the quality of their artworks.
D. Artists may repeat themes they like when using AI tools.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. The Unstoppable Rise of AI Artworks.
B. The Double-Edged Sword of AI in Artworks.
C. The Role of AI in Artistic Productivity.
D. The Breakthrough of AI in Artistic Creation.
A 13. C 14. D 15. B

根据第一段“Using artificial intelligence to create artworks increases artists’ productivity and generates more positive reactions, according to a study involving submissions to a popular art-sharing website by more than 50,000 users. But generative AI works are more likely to display stereotypical themes, reducing the novelty of an artist’s work.(一项针对热门艺术分享网站五万多名用户投稿作品的研究表明,使用人工智能创作艺术品可以提高艺术家的创作效率,收获更多正面反馈。但生成式AI作品更容易出现刻板主题,降低艺术家作品的新颖度。)”可知,AI作品数量多,但创新性有所下降。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“The researchers tracked 4 million works published on the website by the artists. The artists self-divided into two groups: those who continued to work using traditional methods — a sort of control group, and those who adopted AI.(研究人员追踪艺术家在网站发布的400万件作品。艺术家自行分为两组:继续使用传统方式创作的对照组,以及使用AI创作的一组。)”可知,这项研究是通过对比AI辅助创作作品与传统作品开展的。
【14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段““The study completely tracks with my own experience with these tools and spaces,” says Andres Guadamuz at the University of Sussex, UK. “At first, it felt that you could do anything, bring anything in your head into existence, but the more I used them, the more I kept coming back to themes I liked.”(英国萨塞克斯大学的安德烈斯・瓜达穆兹说:“这项研究和我使用这些工具的亲身经历完全吻合。一开始,你感觉无所不能,可以把脑海里任何事物变成现实,但使用越多,就越容易回到自己喜欢的主题上。”)”可知,艺术家使用AI工具时,可能会重复自己喜爱的创作主题。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第一段“Using artificial intelligence to create artworks increases artists’ productivity and generates more positive reactions...But generative AI works are more likely to display stereotypical themes, reducing the novelty of an artist’s work.(使用人工智能创作艺术品可以提高艺术家的创作效率,收获更多正面反馈……但生成式AI作品更容易出现刻板主题,降低艺术家作品的新颖度。)”可知,文章一方面介绍AI提升艺术创作效率、收获更多喜爱,另一方面指出AI作品新颖度下降,还带来诸多争议。“AI在艺术创作中有利有弊,是一把双刃剑”符合主题,适合用作标题。

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The smell of roasted chicken filled the kitchen as we gathered for our usual Friday dinner. Having swallowed a big mouthful of chicken, I took a deep breath and began, “Could I invite some friends over tomorrow? Just for the afternoon?”
My parents exchanged a glance, then nodded readily. But beside me, my younger sister, Lily, froze. Her wide eyes locked onto mine. “But... what about Miracle? She’ll be terrified, Ethan.”
Miracle was a cat Lily rescued on a rainy day last winter. True to her name, the cat had survived. Yet, it remained a creature of profound shyness: Loud voices sent her trembling under beds; sudden movements made her jump. She wasn’t just a pet; she was a fragile soul Lily fiercely protected.
“I promise, Lily,” I insisted, leaning forward, meeting her worried gaze(凝视). “We’ll stay in the living room. No loud music, no shouting games. I’ll keep the back door shut tight, and I’ll warn everyone to be quiet. Miracle won’t even know they’re here.” I saw the conflict in her eyes — her desire to be supportive warring with her deep concern for the poor cat. After a tense silence, she finally gave a small, reluctant nod.
Saturday arrived with sunshine and laughter as my friends piled in. True to my word, I guided them straight to the living room, reminding them firmly about Miracle’s sensitivity.Initially, we chatted, played cards quietly. Glancing around, I spotted Miracle sliding silently down the hallway towards Lily’s room. Good, she’s keeping her distance, I thought, relieved.
As the afternoon wore on, however, the initial caution disappeared. A competitive board game led to enthusiastic cheers and laughter. Lost in the sheer fun of being with my friends, I forgot everything - he promise, the fragile creature.
After friends departed with cheerful goodbyes, I began tidying empty glasses, still lost in the happy scenes when Lily burst through the front door into her room. Then came her scream, “Ethan, Miracle is gone.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
A cold wave of fear rushed through me. I remembered opening the backdoor for some air. Miracle must have got scared out of the house then. My sister looked at me in disbelief. Tears welled in her eyes, spilling over. “You promised” The words weren’t shouted, but they cut deep. Shame burned my face. Without a word, I grabbed a flashlight and raced into the backyard, Lily closely behind, her calls for Miracle now desperate and choked with tears. We searched like crazy.
Luckily, we finally found Miracle in the backyard. There hidden under the thick bushes was Miracle. I dropped to my knees and scooped it up gently and placed it into Lily’s waiting hands. Once we went back home, I apologized sincerely, “I am so, so sorry.” I slowly reached out towards Lily, placing my hand gently over hers. “Can you forgive me?” Lily looked down at Miracle, then back at me, her eyes still wet but softening slightly. A fragile bridge of forgiveness began to form.

C. Putting things off until the last minute.

B. To help him realize knowledge needs time to grow.

D. To encourage him to study biology.
7. What did the author benefit most from the experience?
A. A higher score in physics.
B. The skills of making plans.
C. The understanding of daily effort.
D. A hobby of growing plants.
