上文“That’s not just being able to know lots of words — it means actually being able to use them correctly.(这不仅仅是能够知道很多单词——它意味着实际上能够正确使用它们)”说明仅仅知道单词不够,还要能正确使用。 下文“Tip: When you learn a new word, try to learn all the forms of that word.(提示:当你学习一个新单词时,尝试学习该单词的所有形式)”给出具体建议。 G项中的this指代上文“actually being able to use them correctly”,“example sentences”与下文“learn all the forms of that word”相呼应。
37.下文“People often say that we learn to write best by reading.(人们常说我们通过阅读能最好地学习写作)”说明阅读对写作的重要性。
下文“The first time, look for general mistakes and the second time look for mistakes with grammar points you are studying at the moment.(第一次,寻找一般性错误;第二次,寻找你目前正在学习的语法点的错误)”说明要检查两遍写作。 C项中的“twice”与下文“The first time”和“the second time”相呼应。
40.上文“Be prepared to write several versions (版本) of each text.(准备好为每个文本写几个版本)”说明写作需要多次练习。

故填which。
故填to。
故填Their。
故填The。
故填were simplified。
66.Dear Tom,
I’m sorry to learn about your present situation. I’m writing to give you some suggestions.
First of all, I suggest setting a strict time limit to short videos and watching them only after completing your daily studies in order to have a rest and refresh yourself. Additionally, it would be beneficial to explore other engaging activities, which can not only distract your focus but also bring a deeper sense of achievement. Most importantly, turning off your phones during study hours can significantly reduce the urge to watch.
I’m looking forward to hearing about the positive changes that you’ll make.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

67 Possible Version 1:
On Thursday night, I brought the sign and the red picture book to Steven’s room. He sat in silence. I placed the bright sign on his desk and held his hands. “I am sorry for my silly behaviour,” I whispered. “I was afraid of what others might think, but I made a mistake.” He looked away, but I opened the red picture book. As I read the familiar story, tears dropped from my eyes. Slowly, he turned his head and listened. “Please forgive me,” I begged him. “I want you to be there for my final game.”
On Friday, just before the final began, Dad and Steven appeared at the gym gate. I could hardly believe my eyes. I rushed out of the court and gave him a big hug. “You came!” I cried. I then led him to my team. “This is Steven, my brother,” I introduced him with pride. The boy who had asked me the question smiled and greeted Steven. During the game, Steven waved his colourful sign, cheering loudly. His voice gave me courage to perform well. Dad was right: as long as we stick together and embrace each other, nothing can beat us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you. Well, nihao. (Laughter) It is such a pleasure and an honor to be here with all of you at this great university, so thank you so much for having me. I’m here today because I know that our future depends on connections like these among young people like you across the world.
That’s why when my husband and I travel abroad, we don’t just visit palaces and parliaments (国会) and meet with heads of countries. We also come to schools like this one to meet with students like you, because we believe that relationships between countries aren’t just about relationships between governments or leaders — they’re about relationships between people, particularly young people. So we view study abroad programs not just as an educational chance for students, but also as an active part of America’s foreign policy.
Through the wonders of modern technology, our world is more connected than ever before. Ideas can cross oceans with the click of a mouse. Companies can do business and compete with companies across the world. And we can text, email, Skype with people in the world.
So studying abroad isn’t just a fun way to spend a time of learning; it is quickly becoming the key to success in our times. Because getting ahead in today’s workplaces isn’t just about getting good grades or test scores in school, which are important. It’s also about having real experience with the world beyond your borders-experience with languages, cultures and societies very different from your own. Or, as the Chinese saying goes: “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.”

I was on the edge of burnout, after months of hard preparation for the college entrance exams. Stress and tiredness piled up day after day. Every day was filled with textbooks and endless practice papers, and I had gradually moved away from music, the very thing that once brought me the greatest joy.
One weekend, when I walked aimlessly in the city street to release pressure, I happened to come across a street music festival. Among the performers was a young girl around my age, who had a voice that seemed to cut through my tiredness and I couldn’t help tapping my feet, with a long-lost sense of excitement welling up inside. All my tired thoughts were swept away by her beautiful singing.
That performance served as a turning point. It made me realize how much I had been sacrificing my inner self for school achievements. With determination, I got back my old piano sheet music and changed my study schedule. Despite the heavy workload, I set aside a fixed period to enjoy music. Whether I was practicing challenging classical pieces or creating simple melodies, those musical moments became a necessary part of my daily life. Music slowly filled my dull busy life again.
Surprisingly, these music breaks became a source of energy and inspiration. The pleasant flow of notes calmed my nerves, improved my concentration and refreshed my mind. I began to study with new-found eagerness. Music, in fact, taught me that even in the most stressful times, I could maintain my love for music while still staying devoted to my study-related goals, achieving a balance between aim and interest. From then on, I faced exam pressure with a more positive attitude.

A.Better focus on studying. B.Lower grades in exams.
C.Strong desire to be a musician. D.Fewer hours for practice papers.
35.What’s the author’s change after the music festival?
A.Improving old piano sheet. B.Reducing study time for music.

My brother Steven was born when I was seven. My sister Trudi and I treated him like a prince. But at eighteen months a doctor told us part of Steven’s brain had never grown. “He may never walk or talk,” he said. “Don’t expect much.”
Mum cried for days. That night Dad held our hands at the kitchen table. “As long as the four of us stick together, nothing can beat us.”
Then a new habit began. Every evening Trudi or I sat on the kitchen floor and read to Steven from the same red picture book. For three months he only looked into the empty air. Then one evening he pulled himself across the floor, reached the shelf and pushed the book open with both hands. At four he stood up with two metal sticks. At five he said his first word. Now, at eight, he knew about seven hundred words, and his favourite was my name: “Jen-ni-fer.”
Everyone in our family was proud of him, but outside our house, I was not. I had just entered senior high school and joined the basketball team, never mentioning Steven to my friends. His slow, broken words gave everything away at once, and I could not bear the look on people’s faces.
Last Friday Dad brought him to my first game. Steven had spent a whole week on a paper sign: JENNIFER 12, in huge letters, using every colour he owned. In the second half a loud voice rose above the crowd: “Come on, Jen-ni-fer!” I did not turn my head. After the game a teammate asked, “Who’s that funny little kid with the sign?” “No idea,” I heard myself say. Steven was three metres away, and he heard me too.
That night he did not ask me to read. On Monday our coach said Friday’s game would be the final. “Invite your families.” At dinner Dad asked Steven if he would like to come. Steven shook his head and left the table. Later I found the sign in the kitchen rubbish bin (垃圾桶), folded small, every colour still bright.
