B Pang Zhongwang, a PhD (博士) student at Tsinghua University, has moved many people with his sincere speech at the school’s opening ceremony. His words about not giving up, being thankful, and having big dreams became widely shared online. He shared how he entered Tsinghua in 2017 through a special program for students from poor families and rural (农村的) areas. He got 684 points in the gaokao, plus an extra 60 points from the special policy. Pang’s story shows how the National Special Enrollment Program (国家专项招生计划) helps students from less-developed places. Since 2012, this program has helped over 1 million students go to good universities. It includes three plans: one for poor areas, one for remote (偏僻的) or ethnic minority (少数民族) areas, and one for rural students within their own province. Pang comes from a small county in Hebei. His family has faced many difficulties. His father can’t communicate with others because of illness, and his mother has trouble walking. Pang himself was born with a heart problem. He said he felt a little lost when he first arrived at Tsinghua. But a teacher told him, “Every student begins with a blank slate (空白状态) here. It’s up to you to draw your future.” This encouraged him to keep trying. Because of his hard work and outstanding achievements, Pang was named as one of the “People Who Moved China” in 2024. A professor from Tsinghua said the special program helps more students get good education. The number of students in the program has grown from 10,000 each year to over 100,000 each year in recent years. This year, Tsinghua’s special program had over 6,500 applicants (申请人) and admitted over 270 students. The university says it will keep trying to make education fair for all. 21. What’s the meaning of the underlined word “outstanding” in Paragraph 5? A. Excellent. B. Helpful. C. Hopeful. D. Full. 25. What is the passage mainly about? A. A story about a student’s personal challenges and success B. The development of a national education policy C. A discussion on the importance of fair education for all. D. A report on the admission process of Tsinghua University. C The ocean covers most of our planet, yet we know very little about it. Our ocean is as mysterious as it is beautiful. In fact, we have better maps of Mars than we do of the ocean floor. Why? Exploring (探索) the ocean is a really hard job. There’s a lot of ocean — about 1.4 billion trillion litres (升). That’s 1,400,000,000,000,000,000! ★ . One of their most important goals is to learn about coral reefs (珊瑚礁), which are home to lots of sea plants and animals. Do you know that coral is an animal, not a plant? Tiny animals called polyps (珊瑚虫) build the hard part of the coral as a home to live in. They are called “architects” in the ocean. However, many coral reefs around the world are in danger. That’s where a clever method called “coral gardening” comes in — giving reefs a second chance. Here’s how it works in four steps: First, scientists collect small pieces of coral from coral reefs. Then they break them into even smaller ones — tiny pieces grow faster. After that, they place the pieces in lab-controlled or underwater nurseries (苗圃), where tiny pieces are taken good care of. Finally, once strong enough, they are planted onto rock or man-made reefs so that they can grow on their own. A typical (典型的) example is the L-shaped Reef. Since 1982, scientists have placed old subway cars into the sea. These strange “homes” have created a huge man-made reef. Now, polyps and fish are moving in! To know more about the ocean, a volunteer, Paul Green started the Big Bag Project in 2025. It calls on beach visitors to help collect information on plastics and water temperature through a bag which is connected with an app. Next time you go to the beach, take a bag, pick up some rubbish, and have a closer connection with the ocean. 26. What does the number in paragraph 1 tell us about the ocean? A. How much salt there is. B. How cold the deep ocean is. C. How large the ocean is. D. How many sea plants there are. 27. Which of the following can be put in ★ ? A. Some sea animals are making a comeback B. The ocean is full of wonders to be discovered C. But many scientists are taking on this challenge D. So protecting the ocean is everyone’s responsibility 28. What does the underlined word “architects” mean? A. People who build houses. B. Machines that carry things. C. Workers who collect coral. D. Animals that live in the sea. 29. In the picture CORAL GARDENING, what is the third step? A. Collecting. B. Breaking. C. Nursing. D. Planting. 30. What’s the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A. To introduce the Big Bag Project. B. To show the beauty of the ocean. C. To teach us how to become an ocean biologist. D. To encourage more people to explore the ocean. 第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读短文,从方框内所给的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,使短文通顺、连贯。选项中有一项为多余选项。 Learning can be exciting when you follow your curiosity (好奇心)! I’m often amazed by how fast this country changes. Foreigners are most surprised by the way people travel. In 2012, I took a night train from Wuhan to Xi’ an, and the trip took over ten hours. Today, the same trip takes about four hours by high-speed train. China now has the world’ s longest high-speed rail network — over 45,000 kilometers. When the train runs at about 350 kilometers an hour, I still find it hard to believe. Shopping and paying have changed just as much. I used to carry some cash. Now shopping is easy: take out my phone, scan a QR code, and everything is done. I can even pay for a bowl of noodles at a street stall, which saves me much time. I also spend some weekends in the countryside. The changes there are surprising. My friend’s village used to be poor, with narrow and muddy roads, so farmers could hardly sell their fruit in the city. Great changes have taken place, though. New roads reach every family’s door, the water is clean, and farmers sell their crops online. Young people are even coming back to start their own business — the real power of China’ s rural revitalization (乡村振兴). I’ve noticed another change as well: the country is getting greener. Dirty air used to be a big problem, but today more electric buses are running and millions of trees are planted. Everyone can breathe clean air happily. Of course, every coin has two sides, and I have met difficulties too. Still, I have been deeply touched by these changes, ▲ . I’m proud to be a witness (见证者) to all of them. Complete the mind map according to the passage.(每空不超过6词) Great Changes Aspect: getting around In the past: slow trains; few high-speed lines Today: the world’s 46 (over 45,000km) Feeling: feel amazed at the speed Aspect: shopping and paying In the past: 47 Today: a phone and QR codes Feeling: feel convenient for life Aspect: life in the countryside In the past: poor roads, hard to sell crops Today: new roads, clean water, new houses, villages go online Feeling: 48 in the countryside Aspect: 49 In the past: dirty air Today: more electric buses; many trees Feeling: feel happy to breathe clean air 50. Please write a sentence to fill in ▲ to complete the passage.(不超过25词) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节 书面表达(共1题,满分15分) 51. Hello, everyone!
