Where does your money go every month? If you’re like most teenagers, you probably don’t know exactly. But learning to manage money is an important life skill.
Take Jacky and Ella, for example. They’re both teenagers, but they have completely opposite views on money.
Jacky loves buying things—video games, snacks, and clothes in fashion. He spends all his pocket money as soon as he gets it. Then, when he really needs something, he never has enough. “I just can’t help it,” Jacky says. “When I see something I like, I always want to buy it.”
Ella is much more careful. Every month, she divides her money into three parts: saving, spending, and giving. She saves 50% of her pocket money, spends 40% on things she needs, and gives 10% to charity (慈善机构). “I feel good to help others,” Ella says. “And I never worry about running out of money.”
Ella’s parents encouraged her to open a savings account at a bank. “When you put money in the bank, it can grow,” her mother told her. “The bank pays you interest (利息) for keeping your money there.” Ella opened an account and now watches her money grow.
Jacky has decided to learn from Ella. He starts making a budget and putting aside some money each week. “It’s not easy,” he admits (承认). “But I’m getting better at it.”

Nowadays, more middle schools set up music clubs. They bring lots of advantages for teenagers’ all-round development. Many parents once worried that music club activities would take up too much study time, but research shows music lovers usually have better learning ability.
First, music clubs can improve students’ teamwork skills. Every band in the club has different players; each person has to match their own beat with partners. If one player rushes the speed, the whole piece will lose its beauty. Members learn to communicate patiently and adapt (调整) their playing to fit the group. This helps them solve group tasks in class better.
Second, music shapes students’ emotional (感情的) expression. Teenagers seldom share inner (内在的) feelings with family, but they can pour joy, sadness and hope into their own music lines. Playing or writing music becomes a healthy way to release (释放) pressure instead of keeping bad moods inside.
Third, music clubs open new chances for public expression. Club members take part in school shows and city youth music competitions. Standing on stage helps shy students build confidence, and helps them learn to face praise and polite criticism (批评) calmly.
Of course, students need to balance club practice and school lessons. Club teachers make clear time rules: all training ends before evening self-study, and members must finish daily homework first before joining practice. When music and study are well balanced, students can get double progress in both areas.
根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
11. What did some parents worry about music clubs at first?
A. Club activities would take up too much study time.
B. Students would lose interest in music quickly.
C. There were not enough musical instruments in clubs.
D. Competitions would make students feel nervous.
12. Why can music clubs improve students’ teamwork skills?
A. Because students can play music alone without partners.
B. Because band members never have different opinions on music.
C. Because every student can play the same musical instrument.
D. Because players must match beats and communicate with each other.
13. What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Teachers. B. Teenagers. C. Parents. D. Schools
14. Which rule do school music clubs set for members?
A. Practicing all day long every weekend. B. Joining competitions without finishing homework.
C. Finishing homework before taking club training. D. Taking classes to prepare for music shows.
15. What is the writer’s attitude towards school music clubs?
A. They are completely useless for teenagers.

53. Will you give away all of your toys
54. That sounds great
55. How much pocket money do you have

A对Susan说Susan的生日下个月就要到了,后文列出生日礼物选项:一些新玩具或者去太阳岛游玩,此处A应该询问Susan生日想要什么,可用句子“What would you like for your birthday?”引出下文。
【52题详解】
Susan表示自己玩具已经很多,而且去年已经去过太阳岛,后文A询问Susan今年决定做什么,说明Susan想要做不一样的事,句子“I want to do something different this year.”承接上下文,引出Susan捐赠玩具的计划。
【53题详解】
Susan回答“No, I won’t. I will keep some of my favourite toys.”,由此可知A此处提问Susan是否会捐出全部玩具,句子“Will you give away all of your toys?”和Susan的否定回答相匹配。

Susan补充她还会请求朋友和同学捐献玩具,收集更多物品用于捐赠。A听到Susan的公益计划之后,表示赞许,“That sounds great.”用来对Susan的想法表示肯定,对话自然往下推进。
【55题详解】

根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
6. Which can replace the underlined word “opposite” in Paragraph 2?
A. old-fashioned B. spare C. expensive D. different
7. What is Jacky’s problem with money?

C. He never buys anything for himself. D. He doesn’t know how to open a bank account.
8. How does Ella divide her pocket money?
A. All for saving. B. All for spending.
C. Into three parts: saving, spending, and giving. D. Into two parts: spending and giving.
9. What did Ella’s parents encourage her to do?
A. To open a savings account. B. To spend less on snacks.
C. To give money to people in need. D. To learn from Jacky.
10. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. Jacky will never change his habits. B. Jacky has started to manage his money better.
C. Ella has stopped saving money. D. Jacky now spends more money than before.

B. They will be helpful if students balance study and practice.
