三、阅读表达 (共10小题;计20分)
A. 完成图表 (共5小题;每小题2分, 计10分)
根据短文内容,完成图表中所缺信息。每空不超过三个词。
Generally, people use the full stop when a sentence is over. Do you use full stops at the end of your sentences when sending short messages to your friends and family? However, researchers have found that young people who are growing up with smartphones seldom send messages with full stops.
A British writer wrote, “I just asked my 16-year-old son —this is true. If he receives a message with full stops at the end of sentences, he will think the sender is ‘angry, impolite or even rude’.”
With all kinds of social apps in use, meanings behind some punctuation marks (标点符号) have changed greatly over the past years. In written language, the full stop simply shows that a sentence is over, while online communication is turning it into something impolite. Another example is that the exclamation mark (感叹号) begins to be used as a sign of being sincere, such as in “I love it!” or “ ‘Are you making fun of me?’’ No!!!!!’ ” But in written language, it’s normally used to help express people’s anger, surprise or joy.
“To be honest, I hardly use full stops. For one thing, I think it often causes us a lot of trouble to use the full stop, since we always try to finish the sentences as soon as possible. For another, a sentence with an open end appears more comfortable to read and can help friends chat in a very relaxed way. I don’t want them to feel I’m talking about something very seriously.” said a teenager.
So far, the new uses of punctuation marks haven’t been found in written language. But perhaps one day they will. And our grandchildren may wonder why everyone used to be so angry.
Finding:
Now many young people try to ____51____ using full stops when sending messages.
Examples:
●the full stop:
*in written language —to ____52____ a sentence
*in online communication —a sign of anger, impoliteness or rudeness
●the exclamation mark:
*in written language —to express people’s anger, surprise or joy
*in online communication —a sign of sincerity
Changes in ____53____ behind punctuation marks
Opinions:
●Not using the full stop can be more ____54____.
●Sentences with open ends are more comfortable to read and make people feel more relaxed.
Prediction:
New uses of punctuation marks in short messages might ____55____ to written language some day.
【答案】51.
avoid 52.
end##finish

Host: AI is quickly becoming part of our everyday life. Nowadays, it’s not difficult to find that we usually use AI apps several times a day. Then, should people be polite to AI during the conversations with it? Now, express your opinions about this topic freely.
Ethan
Ethan: I think we should treat AI in the same way as we treat other people. Our world needs more kindness, and when we practise it — whether toward people or technology — kindness can spread. Being kind, even to AI, helps build good habits and personalities.
Asha: In my opinion, it’s more important to focus on being clear and direct during conversations. I’m sure we can all agree that being polite to living creatures (生物) is necessary, but being smart about the use of AI holds more value than just thinking about whether we should be polite to a machine.

Lai Ka-ying is China’s first female payload specialist (女性载荷专家) to reach outer space. She is now on the Shenzhou-23 mission, working on the Tiangong Space Station.
Lai was born in November 1982 in Hong Kong. In 2001, she began to study computer science and information systems at the University of Hong Kong.
Lai first learned about China’s manned space program at the age of 21. “When Yang Liwei flew into space on the Shenzhou V mission, I was full of excitement. He was a great inspiration to me,” Lai said.
In 2011, Lai received her doctoral degree (博士学位) in computer science. “Some companies offered me high-paying jobs at that time, but I wanted to serve the public, so I chose to work for the police,” Lai said.
A turning point came in the autumn of 2022, when the China Manned Space Agency started selecting (选拔) astronauts again. Lai said, “When I saw the notice for payload specialists, I thought it was a great chance. Why not give it a try?”
After several selection rounds, Lai stood out from 120 people. In August 2024, she travelled to Beijing to start her training.
Over the next two years, Lai trained hard, improving herself in all aspects. Her hard work finally paid off, and she successfully joined the Shenzhou-23 mission team in May 2026. The mission helped her make her dream come true. With long-term training and preparation, she felt confident in her ability to finish the task.
Lai’s achievement has inspired many people. She hopes her journey can encourage more young people to reach for the stars, no matter what the “stars” are for them and how high and far they are.
