There was an old couple living a poor but happy life in the countryside. The old man did everything right. Well, at least his wife thought so.
They had a horse. The farmer often rode it, or lent it to his neighbors. However, they thought it would be better to sell or trade it for something more useful.
But what would they do, sell or trade?
“You’ll know best, old man,” said the wife. “Today is market day. Why not ride the horse to the town, and sell it for money, or trade it for something else? I believe what you do is always right.”
She tied his neckerchief (领巾) in a beautiful bow, and gave him a kiss on the lips. Then he rode away.
Soon, a man came along with a cow. The cow looked very pretty and healthy.
“I’m sure it gives the best milk,” thought the farmer.
“Hey, my friend!” cried the farmer to that man. “Listen, we both know that a horse is worth more than a cow, but it doesn’t matter to me. A cow is more useful to me. Will you trade with me?”
“Certainly I will!” said the man, so they made the deal.
“I still want to go to the market and take a look,” he thought, and walked on with the cow.
After a short time, he met a man who was leading a sheep. It was a really nice sheep with thick wool (羊毛).
“I would like to have that sheep,” thought the farmer. So the farmer traded the cow for the sheep, and continued on his way with the sheep. On the road he met another man. The man was carrying a big goose under his arm. “What a fine goose you’ve got there!” said the farmer to the man. “It has plenty of feathers and it’s really fat. My wife always wanted a goose. Now she can have one. So will you trade? I’ll give you my sheep for your goose.”
The man with the goose agreed, and the farmer got the goose.

Sometimes, we focus too much on what’s going wrong or what we don’t have. We forget to notice the good things that are already around us. This kind of thinking can bring us sadness and make us lose all hope for life. But there is a simple way to feel better — it’s called practicing gratitude (感恩). Gratitude means being thankful, choosing to look for and remember the good parts of our day, even small ones.
A study shows being thankful is good for us. People being thankful are usually happier. Besides, it can make us more hopeful about life.
If you’d like to try practicing gratitude, here are some simple things you can do:
• Start a thank-you notebook: Write down two or three things that made you happy in your notebook every day. They could be simple things — like a sunny day, a friend’s smile or a nice meal. This simple way helps you to notice little happy moments. You will find more happy things around you.
• Say “thank you” more often: Tell your family, friends or teachers why you appreciate them. This way works for all people around you. If someone gives you a hand in life, remember to say “thank you”. When you often share your thanks, it brings happiness to both you and the people around you.
• Think a quiet “thanks”: You needn’t say your thanks aloud. When you see beauty or some nice moments, like bright sunshine, say “thank you” softly in your heart. This way costs nothing and you can do it anytime, anywhere. It helps you enjoy small moments and feel peaceful.
Remember, you don’t need special things to practice gratitude. You just need an open heart, a little time each day, and to focus on small things in daily life.
We often feel unhappy because we focus on problems, but _______54_______ can help us feel better. Research shows that being thankful can make people feel _______55_______ than before. For practicing gratitude, _______56_______: start a thank-you notebook, say “thank you” more often and think a quiet “thanks”. In a word, _______57_______. Just focus on small things, stay open-hearted, take some time daily.
IX.书面表达。(满分20分)(原创)

【答案】
例文
A Sweet Family Memory
Last Spring Festival is a sweet family memory that I will never forget.
Before the festival, my family cleaned the house and put up red couplets together. On New Year’s Eve, my parents cooked a big dinner while I helped set the table. After dinner, we watched the Spring Festival Gala and shared funny stories. At midnight, we went outside to set off fireworks. My mother held my hand and told me about her childhood New Year. I felt very warm and happy.
This memory taught me that family time is the most precious gift. No matter how busy we are, we should always spend time with our loved ones.
