B 18. A 19. C 20. B
M: Good evening. Tonight, I’ll continue to share how we can use art to spread the word about the changing climate. In our day-to-day lives, climate change can be hard to see, but some places will feel the changes sooner than others. The city I live in is very flat and close to the waterline. And rising sea levels are already creating floods. So I decided to do something to make it impossible to ignore. I started an art project called Underwater Homeowners Association and painted numbers onto thousands of large signs. Each number showed how high someone’s house was above sea level. A one would mean that if the sea level rose one foot, the building would flood. I gave the signs to homeowners who put them in their yards. Kids painted more signs and put them near their schools and along busy roads. The project has already had a real-world effect. The people who put the signs in their yards created a real homeowners association to address climate change in their communities.

Dolly Parton, an American singer-songwriter who died on August 25, 2026 at the age of 80, will always occupy a space in the global cultural imagination. Here are four of her favorite songs.
Coat of Many Colors
It’s a song about her mother who had made a coat out of second-hand clothes for her. This classic, which was released in 1971, has touched on plenty of country music’s favorite topics — growing up poor, enjoying simple things, appreciating a mother’s love and pride: “Now I know we had no money, but I was rich as I could be in my coat of many colors my momma made for me.”
I Will Always Love You
This song is from her 1974 album. It was written for Porter Wagoner ahead of her departure from The Porter Wagoner Show. (She had been working with Porter since 1967 and left in 1974.) There have been several versions of the song, but it is most known for its rendition (翻唱) by Whitney Houston, who recorded it in 1992 for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks.
The Grass Is Blue
“I’ve had to think up a way to survive,” Parton opens the title track to her 1999 album The Grass Is Blue. She said she wrote the bluegrass ballad (民谣) in 30 minutes, during a lunch break while filming Blue Valley Songbird, a musical drama about a woman who tries to leave her partner.
Blue Smoke
In this song, which was released in 2014, Parton brings listeners into her childhood home in the Blue Ridge Mountains: “Blue Smoke climbing up the mountain. Blue Smoke winding round the bend. Blue Smoke is the name of the heartbreak train that I am riding in.”
21. When did Whitney Houston record I Will Always Love You?
A. In 1967. B. In 1974. C. In 1992. D. In 1999.
22. What is Blue Valley Songbird?
A. A musical play. B. A bluegrass ballad.
C. A famous album. D. A country music song.
23. What do the first and the last songs have in common?
A. They celebrate self-respect. B. They focus on hardship in daily life.
C. They are about a mother’s love. D. They are related to Parton’s childhood.
C 22. A 23. D

In the heart of California’s Central Valley, there are a small collection of aging peach trees. Farmer Mas Masumoto’s decision to preserve those trees has become a symbol of resistance to machine-driven food production.
Mas Masumoto, now 61, grew up on a farm in the valley. His parents bought the farm shortly after World War II. At that time, a big Japanese-American community lived there. He met his wife, Marcy, and they had two children there. But in 1987, this farm reached a turning point: Big peach buyers no longer wanted its peaches — an old variety called Suncrest.
“It didn’t get the lipstick-red color that consumers liked when it was ripe. It didn’t have the shelf life that the market was demanding,” Masumoto recalls. “So it was blacklisted.”
So Masumoto did two things. He scheduled a big ceremony to cut down those trees, and then wrote a letter to the Los Angeles Times. Soon, letters started to flood in. “Keep this peach!” the letters told him.
Masumoto showed the letters to his wife and asked, “What should we do?”
“I’ll keep my day job!” she replied, laughing. This is an important, practical, part of the story. His wife’s jobs — at a hospital in a nearby town, and then at Fresno State University — gave Masumoto the courage to experiment with organic farming, which put him in touch with what he calls “the food world” — a world of people who really cared about flavor and how their food was grown.
“That food world was just starting to explode through the 1980s, and that’s exactly where this peach variety fit in,” Masumoto adds proudly. “Then our farm became a landmark in the local-food movement and people started seeking out our fruit. So it survived and thrived.”
24. Which can we learn about Suncrest?
A. It has an appealing color. B. It is a newly developed variety.
C. It must be grown organically. D. It has a relatively short shelf life.
25. Why did Masumoto send the letter to the Los Angeles Times?
A. To test the market. B. To popularize organic farming.
C. To punish peach buyers. D. To call for governmental support.
26. What was Marcy’s contribution?
A. Collecting money for the experiment. B. Providing a reliable income for the family.
C. Seeking out technical help from a university. D. Working together with her husband on the farm.
27. What does the underlined word “thrived” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Aged. B. Was sold. C. Grew rapidly. D. Was abandoned.
D 25. A 26. B 27. C
根据第三段““It didn’t get the lipstick-red color that consumers liked when it was ripe. It didn’t have the shelf life that the market was demanding,” Masumoto recalls. “So it was blacklisted.”(Masumoto 回忆道:“它成熟后没有消费者喜欢的口红般的红色,也不具备市场所要求的货架期,所以它被列入黑名单。”)”可知,Suncrest桃有相对较短的货架存放期。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“So Masumoto did two things. He scheduled a big ceremony to cut down those trees, and then wrote a letter to the Los Angeles Times. Soon, letters started to flood in. “Keep this peach!” the letters told him.(于是Masumoto做了两件事。他计划举办一场砍树仪式,随后给《洛杉矶时报》写了一封信。很快大量信件涌来,人们写信告诉他 “留住这种桃子!”)”可推断,他写信是想看看大众对这款桃子的态度,检验市场反应。
【26题详解】
细节理解题。根据第六段““I’ll keep my day job!” she replied, laughing. This is an important, practical, part of the story. His wife’s jobs — at a hospital in a nearby town, and then at Fresno State University — gave Masumoto the courage to experiment with organic farming(“我会继续做我的全职工作!” 她笑着回答。这是故事里重要且现实的部分。妻子先后在附近城镇医院和弗雷斯诺州立大学工作,这份收入给了Masumoto尝试有机农业的底气)”可知,妻子为家庭提供稳定可靠的收入。
【27题详解】
词句猜测题。根据最后一段“Then our farm became a landmark in the local-food movement and people started seeking out our fruit. So it survived and thrived.(之后我们的农场成为本土食物运动的地标,人们开始专程寻找我们的桃子。所以这个品种存活下来并且thrived)”可知,and 连接并列词 survived(存活),thrived 意为蓬勃生长、快速发展。
C
On September 7, 2026, the United Nations adopted the “Correct the Map” resolution introduced by the West African country of Togo on behalf of the African Group (the 54 African member states at the UN). The resolution was backed by 164 member states. Only the US voted against it while six other countries — Serbia, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova and Ukraine — did not take part in the vote.
The resolution does not require countries or institutions to abandon the centuries-old Mercator projection, one of the world’s most widely used maps. Instead, it encourages wider use of equal-area projections such as Equal Earth, which more accurately show the true relative size of countries and continents, particularly Africa.
Developed in 2018 by cartographers Tom Patterson, Bernhard Jenny and Bojan Šavrič, Equal Earth was designed to provide a more proportionally accurate picture of the world’s land sizes.
That contrasts with the traditional Mercator projection. Created in 1569 by Flemish cartographer Gerardus Mercator, it preserves the shape of lands but distorts their sizes, with regions closer to the poles appearing significantly larger than they actually are.
The Mercator projection was developed primarily for navigation. It allowed sailors to plan courses along straight lines while maintaining a constant compass bearing (方向), making it particularly useful for explorers and navigators.
Critics have long argued that the Mercator projection makes regions closer to the Poles appear disproportionately large, while Africa and other areas closer to the equator appear smaller than they really are. For example, in the Mercator projection, Greenland and Africa appear to be about the same size whereas in the Equal Earth projection that shows continents in their true proportions, Africa is 14 times larger than Greenland.
“The traditional map was only useful for navigation. Outside of that very narrow application, there is no point in using it,” says Mark Monmonier, a Syracuse University professor of geography. “If you’re using it as a world map, say, in the classroom, students would just have a completely wrong view of the size of countries in the world.”
28. What is the US’s attitude to the resolution?
A. Unclear. B. Supportive. C. Disapproving. D. Uninterested.
29. Who will probably prefer the Mercator projection?
A. Ancient whalers. B. Educators. C. Modern explorers. D. Scientists.
30. What can be known about the Mercator projection?
A. It shows continents in their true sizes.
B. It was designed for general-purpose uses.
C. It makes polar regions appear much larger.
D. It is less accurate about the continents’ shapes.
31. What does Mark Monmonier imply?
A. The Mercator projection was useless.
B. The traditional map should be banned.
C. Gerardus Mercator’s map is the best one.
D. Equal-area projections should be used widely.
C 29. A 30. C 31. D
根据第一段中的“Only the US voted against it while six other countries — Serbia, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova and Ukraine — did not take part in the vote.(只有美国对该决议投了反对票,塞尔维亚、爱沙尼亚、格鲁吉亚、立陶宛、摩尔多瓦、乌克兰六国则未参与投票。)”
根据第五段中的“The Mercator projection was developed primarily for navigation. It allowed sailors to plan courses along straight lines while maintaining a constant compass bearing, making it particularly useful for explorers and navigators.(墨卡托投影最初主要是为航海设计的,它能让水手在保持恒定罗盘方位的同时沿直线规划航线,对探险家和航海者而言尤其实用。)”
根据第四段中的“Created in 1569 by Flemish cartographer Gerardus Mercator, it preserves the shape of lands but distorts their sizes, with regions closer to the poles appearing significantly larger than they actually are.(该地图由佛兰芒制图师杰拉杜斯·墨卡托于1569年创制,它能够保留陆地轮廓的形状,但会扭曲陆地面积,靠近两极的区域看起来会比实际大很多。)”
根据最后一段中的“The traditional map was only useful for navigation. Outside of that very narrow application, there is no point in using it. If you’re using it as a world map, say, in the classroom, students would just have a completely wrong view of the size of countries in the world.(传统地图仅在航海场景下有用,除了这一非常局限的用途之外,使用它没有任何意义。如果把它当作世界地图使用,比如在课堂上,学生们会对世界各国的面积大小产生完全错误的认知。)”可知,Mark Monmonier认为传统墨卡托投影的适用范围十分有限,不适合用于课堂等普通场景。由此可推知,他认为等面积投影地图应该被广泛应用。
D
As a mother and teacher, I eventually start to understand why my childhood gymnastics coach put a gym-wide ban on the phrase “I can’t” the first day we met. And my heart still aches when I just think of the number of times my self-preserving “I can’t” was met with a dismissive “Of course, you can!”
It wasn’t that my coach wanted us to do things beyond our skill or safety level. The policy was against the words themselves. He just felt they were a shelter to hide behind instead of admitting more useful — and actionable — hesitations: “I’m afraid.” “I’ve never done it by myself.” “I need to rest a few minutes before I try.” or “I’m embarrassed to try in front of other people.”
Academic experiences can follow the same pattern, since answering challenging questions in front of an audience can be crippling. We end up saying “I can’t,” because sometimes it is easier than “I have to think about it.” or “I need help.” But letting ourselves fall back on the “I can’t” can do more damage than just hiding our deeper feelings, because eventually we, and the people around us, start to believe it. I know there were things I had stopped trying because, well, I just thought “I can’t.”
As an asthmatic (哮喘患者), one of my most vivid memories comes from the annual event known as the gym-class mile run. For me, “I can’t” actually meant “I’m afraid of having an asthma attack in front of all of my classmates,” and “It’s so embarrassing to run and be left far behind my classmates.” If I had told the truth, I would have been allowed to walk the whole way, instead of being left alone.
I can’t go back and tell my childhood self that the result of the mile run wasn’t worth the anxiety. But I can take time to ask my child and students the right questions, so that I can say something more useful in response than “Of course, you can!”
32. What does the author most probably think of her coach?
A. He was a very dangerous teacher. B. He was a relatively strict man.
C. He was a very bad communicator. D. He was a cold-blooded educator.
33. What did the author mean when she said “I can’t” during the mile run?
A. “I need to rest a few minutes.” B. “I’ve never done it by myself.”
C. “I have to think about it first.” D. “I don’t want to be embarrassed.”
34. What might the author suggest parents and teachers do with the kids?
A. Figure out what they mean first. B. Push them beyond their skill levels.
C. Be sympathetic and let them alone. D. Show them the potential side effects.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. My Childhood Gymnastics Coach B. Meanings of the Phrase “I Can’t”
C. The Annual Gym-Class Mile Run D. A Message to My Childhood Self
C 33. D 34. A 35. B
根据第一段中的“As a mother and teacher, I eventually start to understand why my childhood gymnastics coach put a gym-wide ban on the phrase “I can’t” the first day we met. And my heart still aches when I just think of the number of times my self-preserving “I can’t” was met with a dismissive “Of course, you can!”(身为母亲与教师,我终于理解儿时体操教练为何第一天就在体操馆禁止“I can’t”这句话。每当想起我出于自我保护说出“I can’t”,却只得到一句轻描淡写的“你当然可以”,内心依旧难受。)”可知,教练只会简单否定,无法读懂作者背后的顾虑,沟通方式欠佳。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中的“For me, “I can’t” actually meant “I’m afraid of having an asthma attack in front of all of my classmates,” and “It’s so embarrassing to run and be left far behind my classmates.”(对我来说,“我不行”实际意思是“我害怕在全班同学面前哮喘发作”以及“跑步远远落在同学身后实在太尴尬了”。)”
根据第五段中的“I can’t go back and tell my childhood self that the result of the mile run wasn’t worth the anxiety. But I can take time to ask my child and students the right questions, so that I can say something more useful in response than “Of course, you can!”(我无法回到过去告诉儿时的自己,一英里跑步的结果不值得如此焦虑。但我可以花时间向我的孩子和学生提出恰当问题,给出比“你当然可以”更有用的回应。)”可知,作者建议家长和老师先要弄清楚孩子话语背后的真实想法。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段中的“He just felt they were a shelter to hide behind instead of admitting more useful — and actionable — hesitations: “I’m afraid.” “I’ve never done it by myself.” “I need to rest a few minutes before I try.” or “I’m embarrassed to try in front of other people.”(他只是觉得这句话是用来躲藏的借口,而不去说出更有意义、可行的顾虑:“我害怕。”“我从没独自做过这件事。”“尝试前我需要休息几分钟。”或者“在别人面前尝试会让我感到尴尬。”)”可知,全文围绕“I can’t”这个短语背后不同的真实含义展开论述,所以“Meanings of the Phrase “I Can’t”(短语“I Can’t”的含义)”最能概括全文核心,适合作为最佳标题。
For humans, adapting to climate change is usually a matter of technologies: more air conditioners, better-designed houses and bigger flood defenses. ____36____.
The adaptation can be perfectly explained by the so-called “Allen Rule”, an evolutionary theory named after Joel Asaph Allen who suggested it in 1877. ____37____. For example, Fennec foxes, which are native to the Sahara Desert, have strikingly large ears and long legs, especially compared with their Arctic cousins. “____38____, helping them to release extra heat,” says Sara Ryding, one of the scientists at Deakin University.
However, it is hard, when dealing with individual species, to prove that climate change is the main cause of the anatomical (解剖学的) changes. ____39____. They point out that it is a common sense that changes in food sources or the evolving reproductive preferences of male or female animals have been playing key roles in evolution.
____40____. Any evolutionary adaptation comes with trade-offs (妥协). Bigger mouths might make feeding harder, for instance. Larger wings are heavier, and longer legs cost more energy to grow.
A. Scientists are also wondering how far such adaptations might go

根据上文“The adaptation can be perfectly explained by the so-called “Allen Rule”, an evolutionary theory named after Joel Asaph Allen who suggested it in 1877.(这种适应现象可以用所谓的“艾伦法则”完美解释,该理论以1877年提出它的人乔尔·阿萨夫·艾伦的名字命名)”可知,前文介绍“艾伦法则”这一进化理论,G项“这一观点认为,炎热地区的动物通常比寒冷地区动物拥有更大的身体部位”具体解释该理论的内容,承接上文定义,同时为后文“For example, Fennec foxes, which are native to the Sahara Desert, have strikingly large ears and long legs, especially compared with their Arctic cousins.(例如,原产于撒哈拉沙漠的耳廓狐,耳朵异常大,腿也特别长,与它们的北极同类相比尤为突出)”举耳廓狐的例子做铺垫。
根据上文“For example, Fennec foxes, which are native to the Sahara Desert, have strikingly large ears and long legs, especially compared with their Arctic cousins.(例如,原产于撒哈拉沙漠的耳廓狐,耳朵异常大,腿也特别长,与它们的北极同类相比尤为突出)”以及后文“helping them to release extra heat(帮助它们释放多余的热量)”可知,前文对比撒哈拉沙漠耳廓狐和北极狐的大耳朵、长腿,E项“显然,这种适应性可以增加与身体相对的表面积”指出这类适应特征能提升身体相对表面积,对应后文“帮助释放多余热量”的逻辑。
根据上文“However, it is hard, when dealing with individual species, to prove that climate change is the main cause of the anatomical (解剖学的) changes.(然而,对于个别物种而言,要证明气候变化是导致解剖学变化的主要原因,却很难做到)”以及后文“They point out that it is a common sense that changes in food sources or the evolving reproductive preferences of male or female animals have been playing key roles in evolution.(他们指出,食物来源的变化或雄性或雌性动物不断演化的繁殖偏好,对进化过程起着关键作用,这是常识)”可知,前文指出很难证明气候变化是物种解剖变化的主因,C项“许多科学家认为,其他因素可能在推动这些变化”说明很多科学家认为其他因素也在推动这类变化,呼应后文提到的食物、繁殖偏好等其他影响因素。
根据后文“Any evolutionary adaptation comes with trade-offs (妥协). Bigger mouths might make feeding harder, for instance. Larger wings are heavier, and longer legs cost more energy to grow.(任何进化适应都伴随着权衡取舍。例如,更大的嘴巴可能使进食更加困难,较大的翅膀更重,而较长的腿则需要更多的能量来生长)”可知,后文提到任何进化适应都存在妥协,举例说明身体部位变大的弊端,A项“科学家们也在思考这类适应能发展到何种程度”指出科学家也好奇这类适应的极限,引出下文对适应代价的探讨,逻辑通顺。

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Melissa is a single parent of three children, with a low-paid job. For her, money is always tight and she has to work very hard to make ends meet. Yet she has managed to put 60 dollars aside for the upcoming Christmas, dreaming of a nice party that would light up her children’s faces.
On Christmas Eve, Melissa drove the kids to a nearby supermarket. After they pulled into the parking lot, she handed each child a brand-new twenty-dollar bill. “Alright, my darlings,” she announced with a warm smile, “you have exactly two hours to choose some gifts. Meet me back in the car. Have fun!”
The two younger boys, Tom and Tick, took the money and rushed toward the supermarket, while their older sister, Ginger, was trying her best to catch up with them. Obviously, the boys were too excited to wait for her. Looking at the kids, Melissa smiled. Suddenly, she noticed Ginger stopping at the entrance. She talked to a poorly dressed man for a while and then disappeared into the crowds. Without thinking too much about it, Melissa got into the car and waited for the kids to return.
One by one, the children returned two hours later. Unable to contain their joy, Tom and Tick jumped into the car and waved their selected treasures at their mother. Ginger, however, slipped into the front seat quietly, her hands tucked deep into her pockets. Melissa said nothing. She started the engine and headed home. Outside the car, the streetlights cast a dim glow on the falling snow, while inside, an awkward silence hung in the air.
“Sweetheart, what did you choose?” Melissa turned to her daughter and asked gently.
“Nothing,” Ginger replied, lowering her head.
Tom and Tick spun around and asked in disbelief, “Are you kidding? Did you lose your money?”
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Ginger shook her head and told the truth.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
Ginger shook her head and told the truth. “Mom, I gave the money to the man at the entrance. He said he hadn’t eaten all day. His lips were blue with cold. I could see that he was shaking violently in the cold. I thought he needed it more than I did,” she explained softly. “I hope that my gift will help him a little bit.” Melissa, who had just been worrying about the tight budget, felt so moved that her eyes grew misty.
Inspired by Ginger’s kindness, Tom turned to Tick and exchanged meaningful looks. Tick nodded firmly and said, “Mom, Tom and I also want to share our gifts with the homeless kids living in a shelter nearby. Maybe they can have a celebration, too.” On hearing the words, Melissa pulled the car over and turned to her children. “My darlings, what you’ve done today is worth more than any present under a tree. This is the true spirit of Christmas.”

A. Scientists are also wondering how far such adaptations might go
B. Climate change might be one of the most reasonable explanations
C. Many scientists argue that other factors might have been driving the changes
D. But it seems that many animals turn to bigger body parts to release extra heat
E. Obviously, such adaptations can boost the surface area relative to their bodies
F. Hopefully, the adaptations may help to make the effects of a warmer world less harmful
G. It holds that animals in hot places tend to have larger body parts than those in cold areas

One of the good things I can say about the ____56____ (new) released Chinese film Niu Lai is that it certainly qualifies as a film. There ____57____ (be) sound. The pictures move. Yet Niu Lai has become ____60____ hit in China.
