Since exercise videos started appearing online, most people have used them easily to keep fit. Even so, some people say exercise videos should not replace the proper instruction at a gym.
One advantage of online exercise videos is that they are free. You don’t have to pay for a gym membership or expensive exercise equipment (设备). Besides, it’s very convenient for people to watch them. You just need a Wi-Fi connection and you can start exercising anytime you like. Also, there are plenty of choices of exercise videos online. You might decide on a more relaxing yoga or Pilates class or go for a more high-energy Zumba workout.
However, some people might find this wide range (系列) of choices confusing. They might not know how to choose the right video. In a gym, you could get advice on what exercises you need to do and how to do them correctly. But at home, it is possible for you to keep doing an exercise incorrectly because no expert around corrects you. To avoid getting hurt during the exercise, it’s better for beginners to do exercise in a gym.
There are many pros and cons to online exercise videos, but I strongly believe that the pros outweigh the cons. People who are unable to go to the gym now have the chance of getting fit at home whenever they want, and some exercise is definitely better than no exercise at all.
5. What does the underlined word “confusing” mean?
A. Unclear. B. Terrible. C. Difficult. D. Enjoyable.
6. Why is it a good choice for beginners to do exercise in a gym?
A. To avoid getting hurt during the exercise.
B. To know which exercise fits them.
C. To know how to use the equipment correctly.
D. To keep exercising for longer time with others.
7. What is the writer’s attitude towards exercise videos?
A. Supportive. B. Uncertain. C. Doubtful. D. Worried.
8. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
A 6. A 7. A 8. C

根据文章第三段中“However, some people might find this wide range (系列) of choices confusing. They might not know how to choose the right video.”

Ryan and Ahmed sat on their bicycles at the start of the cyclocross course. Ahmed had been competing in cyclocross for three years, but this was Ryan’s first race. He wished he could remember everything Ahmed had taught him.
Ryan reviewed the last six months in his mind. From the moment Ahmed had first asked whether he would like to try the sport, Ryan had been excited. Ahmed explained the importance of practising and set up a plan for them two to practise together.
Practising was hard. Ryan soon got bored with working on the same skills over and over. He was ready to race! Ryan ended up skipping many of the practices. When Ryan did go to practices, he spent more time doing tricks with his bike than listening to Ahmed’s tips.
The big race day finally arrived.
“Now the real fun begins,” Ryan said excitedly as he sat at the starting line.
“You need to get serious,” Ahmed warned. “Cyclocross can be dangerous.”
Bang! The starting gun went off. The boys rushed off the starting line. Ryan saw the first obstacle ahead. It was a series of small hurdles (障碍).
“Here I go!” Ryan shouted when he reached the hurdles. He jumped off his bike and landed hard on his foot. Next, he had to get his bike onto his shoulder. Ryan could not remember what Ahmed said about shouldering the bike. He tried to pick it up by the wheels but it dropped. Finally, he got his bike off the ground. As he ran, the bike’s weight pressed down on his shoulder, and he lost his balance, unable to stay on his feet. Before he knew it, he was lying face-down in the mud.
“Are you okay?” Ryan heard his friend ask. Ahmed reached down to help Ryan. Ryan was thankful that Ahmed cared more about him than about the race. He caught Ahmed’s hand and stood.
“Ouch!” Ryan cried. It hurt to put weight on his ankle. “You were right, Ahmed. Cyclocross is about more than strength and speed. Can we spend a few more months training together? I want to finish my next cyclocross race!”
9. Why does the writer talk about Ryan’s practice in Paragraph 3?
A. To introduce the safety rules of cyclocross.
B. To imply why Ryan lost his cyclocross race.

C. Kind-hearted and careful. D. Shy and nervous.
12. What may happen next according to the passage?
A. Ryan will end his friendship with Ahmed.
B. Ryan will become serious and train harder.
C. Ryan will skip more of the cyclocross practices.

B 10. C 11. C 12. B

Poverty (贫困) is a big problem around the world. But China has done a good job of dealing with it and it has found its own way to fight poverty. Last year, their orange yield (产量) was nearly 40 tons. Young people have returned to the village to sell oranges online. By the end of 2019,269 villagers had been lifted out of poverty. The per capita income (人均收入) reached 12,670 yuan, 40 times more than in the 1990s.
Over the last eight years, 98.99 million rural people have been lifted out of poverty. The 832 counties (县) and 128,000 villages which these people live in are no longer in poverty. China has been responsible for reducing 70 percent of poverty worldwide since the late 1970s.

根据后文“But when Bruce sat on the bus”可知,妈妈让他坐的是公交车,bus“公交车”,符合语境。
根据后文“closed his eyes. He was soon lost in a song”可知,他戴上了耳机听音乐,put on“戴上”符合语境。took away“拿走”,paid for“支付”,gave up“放弃”与听音乐的情境不符。
him“他”,her “她”,them“他们”均不符合对话语境。

根据后文Mike回答“I love songs of the past too”可知,Bruce问的是歌是否太老,old“老旧的”,符合语境。
to“朝向”,after“在……之后”,on“在……上”均不能构成此固定搭配。
【38题详解】
句意:“我必须告诉妈妈我是如何遇见Mike的,我们相处得很愉快……带着耳机,”他暗自微笑。
两人在公交车上偶然相识,met“遇见、结识”,符合语境。invited“邀请”,caught“抓住”,followed“跟随”均不符合两人初次结识的过程。

A life of science and wisdom
Yang Chen-Ning, a physicist and Nobel Prize winner, died in Beijing on Oct 18, 2025 at the age of 103, China Daily said. He was a professor (教授) at Tsinghua University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (中国科学院).
In 1957, Yang and his friend Tsung-Dao Lee (李政道) won the Nobel Prize in physics. They discovered parity non-conservation in weak interactions This finding changed how people understood symmetry (对称性) in nature.
Physics shows beauty through symmetry, while life is often full of complexity (复杂性). Yang’s life showed this truth.
When he was 35, Yang became the first Chinese to win the Nobel Prize. However, during the Cold War, Yang was far away from China and could not even receive the tea his father sent him. He lived between two cultures--he was “an Eastern scientist in the West” and “a Western representative (代表) of the East”.
In 1971, when the US allowed travel to China again, Yang was one of the first Chinese-American scientists to return, Xinhua reported. For years, he traveled between the two countries, giving lectures (演讲) and writing to introduce China to the world.
In 2003, Yang moved back to Beijing and taught physics at Tsinghua University at the age of 81. He started from basic ideas like time and light speed. Yang didn’t use PowerPoint (幻灯片) and graded homework by hand. He also helped build a world-class research center at Tsinghua.
In 2015, Yang gave up his US citizenship He then became a Chinese member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. He called his home “Gui Gen Ju”, showing that his life had come full circle.

D. To keep exercising for longer time with others.
7. What is the writer’s attitude towards exercise videos?
A. Supportive. B. Uncertain. C. Doubtful. D. Worried.
8. What’s the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.

Poverty (贫困) is a big problem around the world. But China has done a good job of dealing with it and it has found its own way to fight poverty. Over the last eight years, 98.99 million rural people have been lifted out of poverty. The 832 counties (县) and 128,000 villages which these people live in are no longer in poverty. China has been responsible for reducing 70 percent of poverty worldwide since the late 1970s.
