“Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?” It is popular among young people around China today. Many people are interested in it so that they take a personality test (测验) named MBTI to find out the answer.
Many people find the MBTI useful. It groups people into 16 types (类型), which start with the letter “I” or “E”, such as ENTJ or INFP. “E” is short for “Extroversion” while “I” is for “Introversion”. “I’m an ‘E’ person. I should go to the party and make more friends.” “I’m an ‘I’ person. I’d like to work by myself. I could be a writer in the future.” They believe different types can help them make decisions for activities, jobs or even life choices more quickly.
But there are also problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it hard to answer some questions. “I like watching TV by myself. But I also enjoy playing with friends. Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?”
When you take a personality test, you may think, “Oh, that’s me.” That’s because the descriptions (描述) are generic. They can describe many people. Studies found that over 50% of people got a different result when they took the MBTI test again just five weeks later. “Personalities can change with time, and they are not “black-or-white”, scientists say. You may be an “I” person now but become an “E” person when you get older. Or, you can be both an “I” person and an “E” person. Don’t label (贴标签) yourself! Studies also show that the test is not real at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.
4. What is MBTI according to the text?
A. It’s a test about interests.
B. It’s a test for the personality type.
C. It’s a test about young people in China.
5. If you are an “E” person, what may you like to do?
A. To cook meals at home at weekends.
B. To read books in the library on vacation.
C. To have fun at different festivals with different people.
6. What does the underlined word “generic” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Common. B. Special. C. Different.
7. Why does the writer write the text?
A. To help people understand MBTI right.
B. To explain why MBTI is becoming welcome.
C. To encourage more people to try the MBTI test.
【答案】4. B 5. C 6. A 7. A

【6题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段“That’s because the descriptions are generic. They can describe many people.”可知,既然这些描述能适用于很多人,说明其具有普遍性,“Common”意为普遍的,符合语境。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第四段“Don’t label yourself! Studies also show that the test is not real at telling people’s success in different jobs. So, don’t take it too seriously.”推知,作者通过阐述测试的局限性,旨在帮助人们正确理解MBTI 测试,不要盲目贴标签。

Last October, I took a trip to Mount Tai with my cousin. We planned to watch the sunrise at the top, so we started climbing at midnight with two flashlights. The stone steps seemed endless in the dark. After two hours, my legs hurt so badly that I wanted to give up. My cousin, who is two years older and much stronger than me, kept encouraging me to move on.
When we were near the top, something unexpected happened: a thick fog (雾) came out of nowhere, and we could hardly see anything around us. I felt really disappointed. Was all that hard climbing for nothing? But my cousin said calmly, “The fog won’t last forever. Let’s just wait.”
So we waited in the cold wind for almost an hour. Just as we were about to leave, the wind blew the fog away, and the sun slowly rose above a sea of clouds. The whole sky turned golden. It was the most wonderful sight I had ever seen in my life.
On the way down the mountain, I understood something important: sometimes, the best views come only to those who can wait a little longer.

Scientists say that teenagers need eight to ten hours of sleep every night. However, a recent survey of 2,000 middle school students in Shandong shows that only 30 percent of them sleep more than eight hours on school nights. About 55 percent sleep six to eight hours, and 15 percent even sleep less than six hours.
Why don’t these students get enough sleep? Too much homework is one reason, but phones seem to be a bigger problem. Many students keep watching short videos or chatting with friends online until midnight. “I always tell myself to stop after five minutes, but it never works,” one student said.
In fact, sleep is never a waste of time. While we are sleeping, our brain sorts out what we learned during the day, and our body grows and repairs (修复) itself. Students who don’t sleep enough often find it hard to remember things in class, and they may feel unhappy or angry more easily.
Doctors suggest going to bed at the same time every night and staying away from phones at least one hour before bedtime. A good night’s sleep is the cheapest and best medicine for both the body and the mind.
12. How many students in the survey sleep more than eight hours on school nights?
A. About 300. B. About 1,100. C. About 600.
13. According to the passage, what is a bigger problem for students’ sleep?
A. Too much homework. B. Using phones late at night. C. Doing sports before bedtime.
14. What happens while we are sleeping?
A. Our brain stops working completely.
B. We forget what we learned during the day.
C. Our body grows and repairs itself.
15. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Why students enjoy watching short videos.
B. The importance of enough sleep and how to get it.
C. Why homework is bad for students’ health.

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
How to have good friends? Here are some tips for you.
Choosing Friends
Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be your friends. Most people like to have friends with the same interests. But that doesn’t mean you have to be like each other. It’s OK if you enjoy some of the same things.
Making Friends
●The quickest way to make friends is to smile. Remember that most people hate an angry face.
●One easy way to start a conversation with someone is to say something nice. For example, you could talk about a great answer to a teacher’s question and so on.
●Ask your new friends questions about themselves. “Who’s your favourite singer? Where do you live? What do you do after school?” are all good questions.
Having Activities Together
It’s always fun to play your favourite activities with your friends together. For example, inviting a friend to your house is a great way to make your friendship closer. Make sure the activities can be done together. You may both love playing computer games, but if one person is playing and the other has nothing to do but watch, that will be boring.

Last Friday afternoon, on his way home from school, Zhao Lei found a black wallet lying on the ground near the bus stop. He opened it and saw 500 yuan and a card with a phone number on it. There was nobody around, and no one saw him pick it up. For a second, he thought about the new basketball shoes he had wanted for months. But then he remembered what his teacher often said in class: “Honesty (诚实) is the best policy.”
Zhao Lei called the number at once. Twenty minutes later, an old man arrived in a hurry. When he got his wallet back, he was so thankful that he took out 100 yuan and offered it to Zhao Lei as a reward. To his surprise, the boy shook his head and said, “I didn’t do it for money.”

C
8. Why did the writer and his cousin start climbing at midnight?
A. To avoid the daytime heat. B. To watch the sunrise. C. To meet their friends there.
9. What problem did they meet near the top of the mountain?
A. They lost their way in the dark.
B. It started to rain heavily.
C. A thick fog came out suddenly.
10. How did the writer feel when the fog came?
A. Excited. B. Disappointed. C. Angry.
11. What does the story mainly want to tell us?
A. Good things may come to those who don’t give up easily.
B. Climbing mountains at midnight is dangerous.
C. The fog on Mount Tai never lasts long.
D

Friendship is an important part in our life, for friends make us happy and support us through hard times. If you are still waiting for your “friends”, start with the tips above.
