Share your garden, share your joy
Once there was a giant who owned the most wonderful garden in the whole town. Soft green grass covered the ground, and colourful flowers looked like bright stars. Every school child loved running and playing there after class.
The giant travelled away for seven years. When he came back home, he saw children playing in his garden and became very angry. He shouted loudly and drove all the kids away. Then he built a high stone wall around his garden to keep everyone out.
After the wall was built, spring never visited his garden. Cold winds blew every day, and snow covered the grass all year round. No birds flew in to sing songs, and no flowers opened their petals (花瓣) . The giant felt lonely and sad every single day, but he still could not understand why spring refused to come to his place.
One morning, he found a small hole in the wall. Little children climbed through the hole and played under the trees. As soon as kids arrived, trees grew fresh green leaves and beautiful flowers bloomed. Birds flew back and sang happily. The giant finally understood his mistake: joy only becomes bigger when we share it with others. He broke down the wall and invited all children to play freely in his garden forever.

6. How did children get into the garden later?

MBTI is a personality test (性格测试). Many people are very interested in it now. “Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?” “I” means introverted (内向的) while “E” means extroverted. A number of people take the test to find out the answer.
They find the test helpful. The MBTI test puts people into 16 kinds. People can know what kind of people they are by taking the test. It can help people have a better understanding of their personality. A greater self-understanding can be helpful in daily life and for interpersonal communication (人际交往), such as choosing a job or getting along with others.
There are also some problems. Some people take the test for a second time and get different results. Some people find it difficult to answer some questions. For example, I like watching TV at home by myself. But I also enjoy going camping with my friends. Am I an ‘I’ person or an ‘E’ person?
“Personalities can change with time, and they are not black and white,” scientists say. You may be introverted now but become extroverted when you get older. Or, you can be both of them. You can be anyone you want to be!
8. What does the underlined word “extroverted” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A. 倔强的 B. 外向的 C. 有个性的 D. 内向的
9. What can people use MBTI for?
①. Choosing a job. ②. Fighting with others.
③. Making good friends. ④. Understanding themselves better.
A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①②④ D. ①③④
10. What is the purpose of the last paragraph?

B. To ask people to do the MBTI test.
C. To show people the MBTI test is not good.
D. To introduce the MBTI test.

Have you heard of dazi? Have you ever found a dazi? Finding a dazi is popular among young Chinese people. A dazi is a person we eat with, study with, exercise with or take a trip with, but we didn’t know him or her before.
The dazi culture is about finding the right person to do the right activity with. Xiaoyue, a young woman from Ningxia, has met many dazi because of her love for basketball and biking. Having a dazi not only gives her company but also helps her enjoy sports more.
These dazi relationships are very different from close friendships. As for close friends, we need to stay in close contact (联系). With a dazi, you don’t have to do so. Many dazi may not meet again after a trip or a game together. So, many people believe having a dazi makes their social life easier and more comfortable.
Finding a dazi shows that young Chinese people want clearer boundaries (界限) in their social relationships. Dazi will not talk or ask a lot about their personal lives. And they hope that these relationships can let them share their hobbies and interests, or that they can help them to improve themselves.
Although finding a dazi has many good points, we should be careful and put our safety first.
12. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking questions.

【答案】范文:
Learn to accept myself
Everyone has something special about themselves. I am a little shy and I’m afraid of speaking in public.
In the past, I worried about it a lot. I felt upset when I had to speak in front of classmates. Later, I learnt that I should accept myself. Being shy is part of me. I don’t need to be the same as others. Now I try to be brave.

C. By giving numbers. D. By giving an example.
13. How might Xiaoyue describe having a dazi?
A. Serious. B. Difficult. C. Enjoyable. D. Meaningless.
14. What does the underlined word “so” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Having a social life. B. Playing games together.
C. Staying in close contact. D. Talking about personal life.
15. Why do young Chinese people like to find a dazi?
①To improve themselves. ②To share their hobbies and interests.
③To save time and money. ④To have boundaries in their social relationships.
A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ①③④ D. ②③④
