Unit 2 Wildlife Protection
(Say no to… / Join us! (Only 3,000 left in the wild.)、以及强调与对比的表达

Protect the Tibetan Antelope
The Tibetan antelope lives on the high plateau of Qinghai and Tibet. Its wool is soft, but this beauty almost killed it.
In the 1990s, hunters killed thousands of antelopes for shawls. The number dropped to about 70,000. Then the government built nature reserves and sent patrols to stop the hunters.
Today there are about 300,000. Never buy wildlife products. Protecting them is protecting ourselves.

Let the Wild Stay Wild
Hello, everyone. Have you seen a photo of a tiger in a cage, waiting to be made into medicine? Its eyes tell us everything.
Some people believe wild animals can cure diseases, but science says no. Every product bought means another animal killed, and the wild has lost too much already.
So please say no to wildlife products and tell others why. Let the wild stay wild. Thank you!

Dear Chris,
I'm writing to tell you about wildlife protection in China. The giant panda is a good example.
In the 1980s, pandas were in danger because their bamboo forests were cut down. China then set up nature reserves and stopped the cutting. Now more than 1,800 pandas live in the wild.
Our school will send volunteers to a reserve this summer. Would you like to join us? You will love the quiet mountains.
Yours,
Li Hua
