Performers usually tell stories in teahouses or small theatres, attracting viewers with their lively voices and gestures(姿态). To master Pingshu, artists need years of training. Most learn by studying under their teachers— usually experienced performers. As one famous artist, Yuan Kuocheng said,“Pingshu is work both on body and mind. Performers must memorize long stories and add their own explanations to make the stories more attractive. They also need to understand the deeper meanings of the stories and share their thoughts with the viewers.” During performances, artists stand behind a table. They use tools like a folding fan and a wooden block called Xingmu(醒木). The fan helps act out scenes, like“drawing a sword(剑)”. The Xingmu is knocked on the table to mark the start of the story or to highlight(突出) exciting moments. Modern technology has brought both challenges and chances to Pingshu. While young people today prefer online entertainment(娱乐), technology allows artists to record their performances. These recordings can be shared widely, helping more people discover Pingshu. They also protect this art for future young people. More often than not, those who listen to Pingshu stories are older people. While most young people spend hours online, a small number still find value in Pingshu, drawn by its cultural richness and storytelling traditions. Pingshu is not just entertainment— it carries Chinese culture and wisdom. Through stories, performers connect the past with the present, offering viewers both fun and life lessons. ( )4. What can we infer from the third paragraph? A. Learners usually look for teachers before learning Pingshu skills. B. Memorizing stories is less important than physical gestures. C. A folding fan to act out scenes. B. A wooden block to mark key moments. C. A table to stand behind while performing. D. A microphone to make their voices louder. ( )6. What is modern technology's influence on Pingshu? A. It allows artists to perform with less training. B. It reduces the need for performers to memorize stories. C. It spreads Pingshu to more people and protects its future. D. It forces performers to use online tools during shows. ( )7. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Pingshu performers use tools like folding fans and Xingmu in shows. B. Pingshu, a traditional Chinese art, faces challenges from modern technology. C. Pingshu has a long history, unique performance ways and cultural value. D. Older people are the main audience of Pingshu because of its rich stories. C ①So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired(赋予灵感) by the old stories and ancient famous people when giving them names. ②Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon.Chang'e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China's first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang'e-I. More interestingly, the moon rover(巡视器) was named after the Jade Rabbit, who is the partner of Chang'e in the story. These old stories carry people's best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true. ③Kua Fu Runs after the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to“visit” the sun, because we have a space project called Kua Fu Mission. ④Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from ancient famous people. For example, Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over2,000 years ago. His discovery made space study take a big step at that time. So, China's first quantum(量子) science satellite was named Mozi, making China the first country in the world to achieve quantum communication between satellites and the ground. ⑤From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology. ( )8. What do we know about Chang’ e-I according to the passage? A. It moves around the moon. B. It protects the Jade Rabbit. C. It“visits” the sun with the scientists. D. D When it comes to Chinese literature works about a mother's love, few can compete with Tang Dynasty poet Meng Jiao's poem Song of the Travelling Son. The poem presents a mother who sews clothes for her son by hand. Bathed in candlelight, she also worries about his travel away from home. Meng's description of the mother shows the composition of the earliest form of the Chinese character“劳”. Found on oracle bones(甲骨) from over 3,000 years ago, it was made up of two characters. There was“火(fire)” on top and“衣(clothes)” below, with three dots(点) that look like stitches. The lower part was later replaced by“力(strength)” and a form symbolizing a house appeared above. The Analytical Dictionary of Chinese Characters explains the form as“When a house is on fire, it takes hard work to put it out.” While the form of the Chinese character has been simplified, its meaning has expanded to refer to work, labour(劳动) or toil. It is also associated with feelings like fatigue(疲劳).Since ancient times, Chinese society has looked down upon those who sponge off others. In modern times, the idea that“labour is glorious(光荣的)” has taken root. People who work hard and make great contributions to their community or country are respected as model workers. Since the 1980s, “劳” has become one of the five key qualities that China's education system seeks to cultivate in students, along with“德(virtue)”“智(intelligence)”“体(physical fitness)” and“美(appreciation for beauty)”. Primary and middle school students typically have at least one hour of“labour class” each week for labour theory and skills. However, cognitive(认知的) labour and manual(体力的) labour are not always considered equal. As ancient Chinese philosopher Mencius said, “Those who labour with their minds govern(统治), while those who labour with their strength are governed.” Throughout history, many Chinese writers have had pity on people who worked hard to survive as poor farmers. In his poem Watching the Wheat Harvest, famous poet Bai Juyi expressed his shame at taking hundreds of kilograms of grain every year as his pay without doing any farm work. No matter it is cognitive labour or manual labour, overwork can have serious results, which can cause illness or even death. To avoid such things, people are encouraged to achieve a balance between work and rest. ( ) 12. 创新考法—图片理解 Which of the following is the earliest form of the Chinese character“劳”? ( ) 13.
