ReSpeaker Core v2.0 is a voice control board for smart devices, which can listen to and understand voice commands. The package includes the main ReSpeaker Core v2.0 board, an 8Ω 3W speaker, a 2-Mics Pi HAT, a Micro USB cable, and a guarantee card.
How to Set Up the Hardware?
First, plug the 2-Mics Pi HAT onto the 40-pin GPIO header of the main board. Then connect the speaker to the Pi HAT. Pay attention to polarity: the red wire must be connected to the “+” end. Finally, power on the device using the Micro USB cable connected to a 5V/2A power adapter. The blue LED lights up on startup, and after about 40 seconds it turns green—ready to use.
How to Connect to the Network?
When turned on for the first time, the device will create a hotspot named “ReSpeaker Core- XXXX”. Connect your phone or computer to this hotspot using the password 12345678. Then open a browser(浏览器)and visit http://192.168.100.1 to access the setup page. Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password. The device will restart and connect automatically.
How to Interact with the Device?
Once it’s connected, say “Hello, ReSpeaker” followed by commands like “what time is it?” or “play some music”. For best results, speak clearly within 5 meters of the device in a quiet environment. Always use a stable 5V/2A power supply to avoid instability. If problems persist during interaction, press and hold the onboard button for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly to restore factory settings.

There must be few occasions when it would be really rude to refuse an invitation to hit someone you’ve just met with your fist! But I’m in one of those right now. I’m in a rehearsal room in a theatre with a group of actors, facing up to stage fighting director Kate Waters. She wants me to hit her with my fist. But fear not, this is all strictly pretend! Kate, known in the industry as Kombat Kate, is giving a lesson on how actors fight each other without getting hurt.
Already a passionate martial arts expert from childhood, Kate did drama at university, and one of her courses introduced her to stage fighting. When she made inquiries about the possibility of teaching it as a career, she was told about the register of stage fight directors and the qualifications she’d need to be accepted into it. It was no small order: as well as a certificate in advanced stage fighting, she would need a black belt in karate(空手道)and skill in fencing, a sport she’d never tried before. But she rose to the challenge and finally successfully became one of only two women on the official register.
Of course, a stage fight is just smoke and mirrors. In our lesson, Kate shows me how an actor will stand with his or her back to the audience ahead of a planned slap(拍). When the slap comes it makes contact not with the skin but with the air: the actor hits his chest or leg to make the sound of the slap.
In the rehearsal room, I can’t resist asking Kate how she thinks she would do in a real fight. Would she give her attacker a hard time? She laughs, “Oh, I’d be awful,” she says. “I only know how to pretend.” I can’t help thinking, however, that she’s just being rather humble.
24. Why does Kate ask the author to hit her?
A. To show actors stage fighting skills.
B. To teach actors to defend themselves.
C. To help actors rehearse an action scene.
D. To attract actors’ interest in martial arts.
25. What was a challenge Kate faced in becoming a stage fight director?
A. She could not find a female teacher.
B. She had no prior experience in drama.
C. She had to master an unfamiliar sport.
D. She had trouble obtaining a certificate.
26. What do the underlined words “smoke and mirrors” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. A difficult technique. B. A dangerous situation.
C. A well-planned lesson. D. A misleading performance.
27. What does the author imply about Kate’s real fighting ability?
A. She relies a lot on tricks.
B. She may lack confidence in herself.
C. She might be better than she admits
D. She excels more at performing than fighting.
C
No matter how old we get, there will always be some songs that transport us back in time. We only need to hear a few notes of a tune, and we remember where we were when we first heard it, what we were doing and who we were with.
For most people the songs that remain most meaningful are those from their teens and 20s. The continued impact of these songs is due to something called the “reminiscence bump”—a tendency for people to have more vivid memories from their youth and early adulthood. During this time our brains are still developing, and we have less control over our emotions, which makes our experiences more vivid and the music we hear more intense.
That’s why, for most people, the emotional connection to music peaks during adolescence and early adulthood. In fact, a new study from Finland suggests that this peak is actually around the age of 17. Previous studies have looked at the “reminiscence bump” in Western populations, but the Finnish research team wanted to look at how it affects people globally, and if it affects men and women differently.
They studied 1,891 people from 84 countries. The participants were first asked to share their age and to name a piece of music that was important or meaningful to them. The researchers then compared the participants’ ages with the release dates of the music they named. The average peak age for personally meaningful music was 17, although there was some difference between men and women. And, for men, the peak age was around 16, while for women it was 19.
One possible explanation for this is that men tend to form their music-related memories earlier, during the resistant stage of adolescence, perhaps choosing songs that celebrate independence. Women, on the other hand, may prefer music that relates to important social and emotional connections, which take longer to develop.
28. What can be learned about “reminiscence bump” from paragraph 2?
A. It transports us to childhood. B. It generates vivid memories.
C. It intensifies youthful experiences. D. It helps recollect adolescent events.
29. What does the Finnish research team focus on?
A. Challenging existing theories and collecting new data.
B. Identifying the peak age and comparing music preference.
C. Expanding the research scope and observing gender difference.
D. Confirming previous findings and analyzing emotional intensity.
30. What can we infer about the study from paragraph 4?
A. It adopted a quantitative research method.
B. It targeted participants of different age groups.
C. It focused on the evolution of music release time.
D. It yielded findings beyond researchers’ expectations.
31. Why do men and women have different peak ages?
A. They mature at varying ages. B. They favor distinct music themes.
C. They have diverse musical talents. D. They value separate social behaviors.
D
Keeping food cold often comes with a hidden problem: Traditional ice melts(融化), leaving pools of water that can make drinks watery, damage products, or even spread dangerous bacteria. Now, researchers at the University of California, Davis, have created jelly ice, a reusable and biodegradable(可生物降解的)alternative that cools like ice but never melts into liquid.
The new material is made of 90% water and can be shaped into various forms. It stays solid below freezing, softens at room temperature, and can be reused by simply washing and refreezing. “Compared to regular ice of the same shape and size, jelly ice has up to 80% of the cooling efficiency,” said Jiahan Zou, a study researcher, “We can reuse the material and maintain the heat absorbance across multiple cooling and warning cycles, an advantage that regular ice cannot offer.”
The project began when UC Davis food scientists noticed how much ice was used in fish-processing plants and how meltwater could spread bacteria. Seeking a safer option for grocery seafood displays, the team turned to gelatin, a food-safe material whose protein structure can trap water even as it freezes and thaws(解冻).
After years of testing, the researchers perfected a simple, one-step process for making jelly ice. The material is made from natural components and can be biodegraded after use. It doesn’t contribute to microplastic pollution, even offering a side benefit of improving tomato plant growth when added to soil.
Beyond grocery stores, jelly ice could have wide applications. It could help preserve medical supplies during shipping, reduce waste in biotechnology, and provide reliable cooling options. It promises fresher food shipments without the mess of melting ice packs while also offering a sustainable alternative that reduces pollution risks and supports agriculture.
Although licenses for the technology have already been secured, jelly ice is not yet available for public purchase. It still requires market analysis, product design, and large-scale production testing. Inspired by its success, the team is now studying other natural polymers, such as plant-based proteins, to see if similar innovations can be developed.
32. What is one advantage of jelly ice over traditional ice?
A. Fixed shape. B. Saving water. C. Repeated use. D. Cooling efficiency.
33. What does the author imply about jelly ice?
A. It stretches tomato growing cycles. B. It adopts a bacteria-free material.
C. It shortens the freezing time. D. It lowers environmental impacts.
34. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. The official approval is underway. B. Jelly ice needs further development.
C. Traditional ice will soon disappear. D. Other natural polymers will be available.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. A Game-changer That Controls Bacteria. B. A Cooling Alternative That We Can Order.
C. A Cooling Material That Doesn’t Melt. D. A Quick Fix That Cuts Biological Pollution.

Have you ever found yourself lost in a book, turning pages without really processing the words? It happens to the best of us. _____36_____ For them, reading isn’t just about understanding the text; it’s about thinking critically, making connections, and engaging with what they’re reading. This is where questioning techniques come into play in reading instruction.
At its core, questioning techniques are strategies used to inspire readers to think critically about what they are reading. _____37_____ Just like how exercise strengthens muscles, asking questions while reading strengthens comprehension skills. It pushes readers to not only understand the story but to analyze it, evaluate it, and sometimes even challenge it.
_____38_____ The types of questions asked can vary depending on the level of engagement required. There are easy literal questions that ask for information directly from the text and also inferential and evaluative questions that require readers to read between the lines. There are even predictive questions that encourage readers to make predictions about what will happen next. _____39_____ But together, they create a rich, engaging reading experience that goes beyond just decoding words on a page.
You might be wondering, “Why does this matter?” Can’t students just read and understand on their own? Well, the truth is, reading is more than just recognizing words. _____40_____ In a world overloaded with information, teaching students how to think critically about what they read is more important than ever. Questioning techniques in reading instruction provide students with the tools they need to become thoughtful, engaged, and reflective readers.
A. Each type serves a different purpose.
B. It’s about making sense of those words.
C. Of course, all questions aren’t created equal.
D. They can totally transform the reading experience.
E. But imagine students who are just learning to read.
F. Think of questioning techniques as a mental workout for the brain.
G. Be aware that these techniques can be tailored based on reading levels.

Tom had just graduated from university when he took over his family’s long-established restaurant. His father, now in his seventies, had run the place for decades but never offered delivery—there wasn’t enough help, and he was too tired. Wanting to bring something new while keeping the old spirit, Tom started a free delivery service for the elderly and busy neighbours.
As he looked for delivery riders, one person came to mind: Mike, his deaf neighbour who stayed home making small crafts. Jobs were hard to find for Mike, and Tom knew he needed steady work. He went to Mike’s house and showed him a note: “Come work with me. Be my delivery rider. Good pay.” Mike read it, eyes wide, then nodded firmly.
The first day he worked, Mike checked each order twice before leaving. He’d already spent days studying the neighbourhood map and cycling around to learn the quickest routes. But problems came quickly. On his last delivery that evening, he knocked loudly on a customer’s door—trying to get attention without speaking. The resident complained about the noise and rudeness.
Later that week, while biking through the market, a hurried pedestrian stepped into his path. Mike fell, and the food spilled. Unable to explain, he rushed back for a new meal. By the time he arrived—nearly 40 minutes late—the customer was very angry. He refused the food and shouted at Mike, who could only stand there, silent and helpless.
That evening, Mike sat alone, head down, feeling he’d let Tom down. When Tom knew what happened, his heart sank—not with anger, but with guilt. He’d wanted to help, yet never truly thought about Mike’s challenges: the silence, the misunderstandings, the moments when being unable to speak left him defenseless. Tom knew he had to do more than offer a job—he needed to help Mike do well.

1. 续写词数应为150左右。
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
He soon came up with a plan to help Mike.
Mike took a deep breath and smiled as the angry customer opened his door.

Dear Mark,
I’m writing to share my experience of the school activity “Read a Book in Holidays”.
During the holiday, I finished reading The Little Prince. It tells a warm story about friendship and true love. The book teaches me that what matters most can only be felt with the heart. It reminds me to value the people around me.
I really enjoyed it. Have you read any impressive books recently?

第二节 读后续写参考范文(25分)
He soon came up with a plan to help Mike. Tom prepared small paper cards printed with simple words and gestures for Mike. Each card could show messages like “Sorry for being late” or “Please wait a moment”. Besides, Tom told all regular customers about Mike’s situation in advance. One day Mike was assigned to deliver food to that once‑angry customer. Holding those cards firmly, Mike set off with mixed feelings.
Mike took a deep breath and smiled as the angry customer opened his door. Mike quickly showed the card saying “Sorry for the delay”. Seeing the card, the customer realized Mike’s trouble. He accepted the food and apologized for his previous rudeness. Day by day, with these practical tools, Mike handled deliveries smoothly. He gained respect from neighbors. And Tom learned that true help means understanding others’ real difficulties instead of just offering a job。

Text 4(第4小题)
M: Come on, the quiz show you like is about to start.
W: Oh, brilliant.
M: The football match is on afterward, so this is going to be a great day.
W: Perfect. I'll make some popcorn and we can enjoy both together.
Text 5(第5小题)
W: I can't wait to replace this broken carpet. Our rabbits have chewed parts of it.
M: That's why we need wooden flooring.
W: Rabbits chew wood, too. How about we buy them some toys to chew?
Section 2(Text 6‑Text10)
Text 6(第6、7小题)
M: Have you seen this in the newspaper?
W: It's not another economic news, is it? You know, that sort of thing doesn't interest me.
M: No, it's not that. It's a huge photo of a cup of coffee with the logo of that new coffee bar in town. It's quite an eye‑catcher.
W: We should check it out and see if it is as good as it looks.
M: Well, instead of going there, we can make our own coffee using that new machine I bought. We could sit and read the sports pages at no extra cost.
W: Good idea.
Text 7(第8、9小题)
M: I've really enjoyed my work here over the last three weeks. It's given me a real insight into my future work.
W: Has it inspired you to pursue a career in law?
M: It's certainly given me food for thought. Before coming here, I had my heart set on designing buildings as it's what my dad does. And it's something I've always been interested in since I was a kid. But working with you has truly made me reconsider.
W: Do both your parents design buildings?
M: No, my mom works in medicine.
W: I see. But studying law takes a lot of hard work.
M: Oh, I don't mind it. No pains, no gains.
Text 8(第10‑13小题)
M: When do we serve the meal?
W: Right after the ceremony.
M: Not quite. The ceremony is at noon. And by 12:30 p.m., the bride and groom will take pictures with guests in the gardens. Then the wedding party will move to the main reception room for drinks around 1:15 p.m. That's where you'll be needed first.
M: So I'll be working in different rooms.
W: Yes. After the drinks, the guests will make their way to the dining hall. We'll serve them the meal there at 2 p.m.
M: Do the guests need to be in the hall before that?
W: Yes, we'll invite them to sit down 15 minutes beforehand. Most guests are having the beef meal, but a few asked for the vegetarian option. I've marked their choices on the seating arrangements I've given you, but double check with each guest before serving, as some may have changed their minds. Oh, look, the first guests are arriving.
Text 9(第14‑17小题)
M: According to the villagers, if we keep quiet and stick to this path, there's a small chance we'll see a rare animal.
W: What is it?
M: It's in the same family as the domestic cat, but it's a lot bigger than the cat people have as a pet. They're about a meter long and half a meter in height. Having said that, their average weight is nothing compared to that of a lion.
W: Are there a lot of them around here?
M: In 2005, their numbers fell to around 100. Despite being one of the most threatened wild cat species, conservation efforts have helped their population grow across parts of Iberia. Iberia, it refers to the region that includes Spain, Portugal, Andorra, the British‑owned island of Gibraltar and a tiny part of southern France. This rare animal once lived throughout these areas, but now it is found only in parts of Spain and Portugal.
W: It's very sad, but at least things have improved.
M: That's encouraging. I believe future generations will still be able to witness these beautiful animals.
Text 10(第18‑20小题)
M: I'm so happy to be here in Beijing with you all today. My name is Dean and I'm a music production project leader at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in England. As a music enthusiast, I have been blown away by the talent here in Beijing and would like to invite you to spend a few months in Liverpool. As a part of a student exchange program, the idea is that you partner a student from England, you spend time with them in Liverpool, and then they come and visit you in Beijing. For both groups of students, it'll be a great chance to improve your cultural understanding and enrich your musical experience.
A little bit of surprising history for you. The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts was founded by a famous singer in 1996. His fellow band member once said life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. His saying reminds us that life is about enjoying the journey. With that in mind, what are you waiting for? Why not allow Liverpool to be part of your musical journey?
