B Till last year, I couldn’t remember the last time I’d done a jigsaw puzzle. It must have been at least 20 years ago. As far as I was concerned, puzzles were for kids. There were always other more exciting, interesting and productive things to do — or so I thought. While at home on a rainy autumn afternoon, however, I chanced on a jigsaw puzzle that had been lying untouched since my husband and I were given it a few years ago. I’m not sure what came over me — perhaps it was because my husband was watching a film that didn’t particularly interest me — but I decided to give it a go. The 1,000-piece puzzle took me a couple of weeks to complete. I would spend from five minutes to two hours on it at a time, depending on how busy I was. Strangely, there’s something so satisfying about finding the right piece for a space, joining up sections, getting closer to finishing a picture. Every time I successfully place a piece, I get a little rush and feel a sense of achievement. It’s a dopamine hit, but not one I usually get from just scrolling (刷屏) stream media. I soon became addicted to it. Meanwhile, I’ve found an unexpected bonus: the slightly physical aspect of it, leaning over the pieces and picking different ones up, means I can’t be on my phone at the same time. I especially love that doing a puzzle doesn’t involve a screen in any capacity since so many aspects of my life almost can’t go without my computer, my phone or the television — even following a workout app in the gym or listening to a podcast on a walk. And I’ve come to realize puzzling is not just for kids after all. Perhaps it was the very piece that I had failed to notice in my life all along. 4. What did the author use to view jigsaw puzzling as? A. A popular time killer. B. A childish recreation. C. A refreshing comfort. D. A handy stress reliever. 5. What does the underlined part “a dopamine hit” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. A sudden wave of regret. B. A brief sense of relief. C. A quick feeling of pleasure. D. A deep state of anticipation. 6. Which aspect of puzzling does the author favor most? A. It is calming. B. It is screen-free. C. It is educational. D. It is user-friendly. 7. What is the best title for the passage? A. The Missing Piece of My Life. B. The Journey of Going Puzzle-free. C. A Piece of Childhood Memory. D. An Unforgettable Rainy Afternoon. C Tiny House Shadow, a 365-square-foot sustainable tiny house, stands in Lohja as a response to modern day climate and population challenges. Designed by Matti Kuittinen, an architect professor at Aalto University, it is an exercise in what future building might look like. “We need to reduce emissions (排放) from the building sector by 80-90%, and build almost 2 billion new homes by the end of the century,” warns Kuittinen. “These two goals are contradictory, which is why we need to consider totally different housing and construction solutions.” After years of research into these issues, Kuittinen has collaborated with construction companies to build his idealized sustainable structure. Tiny House Shadow is entirely mobile and can be taken apart. It is the first of its kind to feature a specialized decarbonated steel in its exterior. Sustainable materials define the interior as well, with the floors made from recycled plastic, the ceilings from old tires and the windows from old buildings. In fact, the house uses 56% recycled materials across its entire build, this alone reducing its footprint by 53%. Just by living in a home that is smaller — and less energy-consuming in both design and day-to-day consumption — people will live a more sustainable life. In the case of Tiny House Shadow which considers everyday functions and needs versus wants, each resident reduces his or her carbon footprint greatly compared to life in a conventional house. Through the architecture and the lifestyle it promotes, Tiny House Shadow re-images what our residential space could be without the unnecessary waste we’re used to. But that being said, spending time in Kuittinen’s design doesn’t mean roughing it. “Living in a tiny house doesn’t necessarily mean giving up comfort,” Kuittinen said. Inside, it can be transformed according to use, thanks to movable partitions and space-saving rooms separated by sliding doors and other mechanisms. Regularly exhibited as a sample at construction fairs, Tiny House Shadow has made a remarkable entrance on the market. Kuittinen hopes it can be a demonstration of low-emission, resource-efficient single-family housing for the modern age. 8. What is the core reason for Kuittinen’s design? A. To trade space for sustainability. B. To stay true to his longtime ideals. C. To balance emission cut and housing. D. To create a cheaper alternative to flats. 9. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about concerning Shadow? A. Its building process. B. Its spacious layout. C. Its commercial value. D. Its sustainable design. 10. What living philosophy is embodied in Tiny House Shadow? A. Idealism. B. Minimalism. C. Materialism. D. Optimism. 11. What is Kuittinen’s expectation of Tiny House Shadow? A. Serving as a building model. B. Entering the market quickly. C. Attracting sufficient funding. D. Winning prizes at building fairs. D “Humans have around 20,000 protein-coding genes, but little is known about how those protein molecules (分子) organize and interact,” says Trey Ideker, a professor of medicine at the University of California San Diego. Without that knowledge, trying to study and treat disease is “like trying to understand how to fix your car without the repair guide”. In an April 2025 study in Nature, Ideker and his team presented their latest attempt to fill this information gap: a map of a human cell, showing the locations of more than 5,000 proteins organized into 275 smaller and smaller structures. The map goes far beyond the simplified diagrams you may recall from high school biology class. The team achieved this level of detail by taking a “multimodal” approach. First, to figure out which proteins interact inside our cells, the researchers lined a tube with a particular protein, called the “bait (诱饵)” protein. Then, they poured a blended mixture of other proteins through the tube to see which ones would stick together, showing an interaction. Next, to locate these proteins precisely, they lit up individual molecules inside a cell using glowing antibodies. These antibodies stick to specific substances. Once the antibodies found their target, the lighted protein was visualized under a microscope and placed on the map. There are many human cell types, and the one Ideker’s team chose to map is called the U2OS cell. It is commonly associated with childhood bone cancer. Indeed, the researchers identified more than 100 new mutated (突变) proteins that are linked to childhood cancer, helping reveal how the disease develops. Better yet, they located those proteins within the cell. Typically, cancer research is focused on individual mutations, but by placing them in context, the map provides a look at the larger structures that individual mutations affect. “The U2OS cell took more than three years to chart, but technology and methodological improvements could speed up the mapping of other cells in the future,” Ideker adds. “Our goal is ’to really scale it up’ and reveal the subcellular architecture beneath all sorts of diseases.” 12. What is stressed by using the metaphor in paragraph 1? A. The diversity of genes. B. The severity of disease. C. The necessity of car maintenance. D. The significance of cell mapping. 13. What is the function of the glowing antibodies in the study? A. Making the tube easily visible. B. Breaking down unwanted proteins. C. Identifying the location of the proteins. D. Speeding up the interaction of the proteins. 14. What sets Ideker’s research apart from traditional cancer research? A. It names a new cell U2OS. B. It prioritizes new mutated proteins. C. It centers on individual cells. D. It contextualizes mutations within cells. 15. What is Ideker’s attitude towards the future research? A. Cautious. B. Optimistic. C. Unconcerned. D. Doubtful. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) When I sat in the sun one afternoon, it was noisy outside. When people experience intense stress, the brain ____36____ (fire) signals that quickly speed up the heart rate. Traditionally, scientists assumed this communication was a one-way street ____37____ (run) from the brain down to the heart. However, a growing body of recent research reveals that this connection is far more complex and fundamentally bidirectional. Researchers have discovered that the heart actively talks back. Sensory fibers in the heart constantly relay information about blood pressure, rhythm, and physical strain ____38____ the brain, largely through the vagus nerve The brain then uses this feedback to adjust bodily state and ____39____ (respond). When this communication network operates smoothly, it not only maintains physical balance but also supports emotional ____40____ (stable) and cognitive function. This close link explains why heart health and mental wellness are deeply intertwined. For example, depression significantly increases the risk of heart disease, while patients recovering from heart ____41____ (attack) more often than not develop anxiety. Moreover, experiments demonstrate that people with more adaptable heart rates tend to be more flexible thinkers and make ____42____ (wise) decisions under pressure, showing that our cognitive ability is shaped by both organs. Harnessing the heart-brain connection offers promising avenues for diagnosis and daily wellness. Scientists are testing wearable tech ____43____ monitors heart reaction to music, allowing for earlier and more accurate detection of hypertension. Furthermore, simple techniques like deep meditative breathing can directly stimulate the nervous system, lowering heart rate, reducing inflammation, and restoring mental calm. ____44____ (ultimate), these discoveries are transforming modern medicine. Experts emphasize that the heart and brain must no longer ____45____ (treat) in isolation. As cardiologists and neurologists begin to collaborate, it is becoming clear that taking care of the heart is essential to protecting the mind, and vice versa. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第二节 读后续写(满分25分) 47. The Wind Phone Every morning Mario visited his neighbor, Mr. Harper. Together they sat at the edge of his garden on the hill, looking down at the port. They made a game of spotting Mario’s dad as he unloaded the morning catch, and Mr. Harper’s daughter, Fiona, as she cleaned the fish one after another. “I see them!” Mario would say. Mr. Harper would laugh. “You win again, Mario.” It was their favorite game. Mario’s dad loved the ocean. He’d say, “Listen, Mario, the ocean’s saying good morning.” The lapping waves would whisper: O-mor-ning. O-mor-ning. Mario always returned the greeting, “Good morning, ocean.” But on the day the big wave came, the ocean didn’t whisper. It roared (咆哮). A big, watery hand swept into the port, grabbing everything — and everyone — in its grasp. Everyone lost someone that day. It took Mario’s dad, Fiona, and it even took Mario’s voice. Silence hung over the village like a dark, heavy cloud. Spring came. Here and there stood peach-trees that broke into delicate flowers of pink. One day: Tap-tap-tap. Bang-bang-bang. Mario watched from his window. Mr. Harper was building something in his garden. But what? It was a phone booth (电话亭), painted white and with many panes (窗格) of glass. Mr. Harper went inside and his voice floated out. “Fiona? It’s your father. I miss you.” Mario was confused. Fiona had been grabbed by the ocean, just like Mario’s dad. When Mr. Harper left, Mario crept inside. An old-fashioned phone sat on a table. No plugs, no wires. It was a phone connected to nowhere. Mr. Harper visited his phone booth every day. Soon other villagers did too. They lifted the receiver to their ears and their voices floated on the wind. “Hello, cousin. Today I fixed the boat. I’ll fish again soon.” “Sister, how’re you? I rode your bike today. It fits me now.” For the first time since the big wave came, Mario wanted to use his voice. He went down to the port and screamed at the ocean. “Bring our people back!” Still, the waves lapped gently. O-mor-ning. O-mor-ning. Mario sighed and looked up. Mr. Harper’s phone booth sat high on the hill like a lighthouse. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Mario stepped out, he spotted Mr. Harper down at the port. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 烟台一中2026~2027学年第一学期阶段性检测 高二英语试题 2026.10 本试题卷共1页。 1. B 5. C 6. B 7. 根据第一段中“As far as I was concerned, puzzles were for kids.(在我看来,拼图是给孩子玩的。)”以及“There were always other more exciting, interesting and productive things to do — or so I thought.(总有其他更令人兴奋、有趣、有成效的事情可做——至少我当时是这么认为的。)” 根据第三段中“Every time I successfully place a piece, I get a little rush and feel a sense of achievement. (每当我成功放好一块拼图,我就会感到一阵兴奋和成就感。)”以及“It’s a dopamine hit, but not one I usually get from just scrolling stream media.(这是一种“dopamine hit”,但不是我从刷社交媒体中通常得到的那种。)” 根据第四段中“I especially love that doing a puzzle doesn’t involve a screen in any capacity since so many aspects of my life almost can’t go without my computer, my phone or the television(我尤其喜欢做拼图完全不涉及屏幕,因为生活中的很多方面几乎离不开电脑、手机或电视)”可知,作者最喜欢拼图的无屏幕特性。 通读全文,尤其是根据最后一段中“And I’ve come to realize puzzling is not just for kids after all. Perhaps it was the very piece that I had failed to notice in my life all along.(我最终意识到拼图不仅仅是给孩子的。也许这就是我一直以来在生活中未能注意到的那一块。)”可知,文章的核心是作者通过拼图找回了生活中缺失的一部分,因此最佳标题为“The Missing Piece of My Life(我生命中缺失的那一块)”。 C Tiny House Shadow, a 365-square-foot sustainable tiny house, stands in Lohja as a response to modern day climate and population challenges. C 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第二段“‘We need to reduce emissions (排放) from the building sector by 80-90%, and build almost 2 billion new homes by the end of the century,’ warns Kuittinen. ‘These two goals are contradictory, which is why we need to consider totally different housing and construction solutions.’ 根据第三段“Tiny House Shadow is entirely mobile and can be taken apart. It is the first of its kind to feature a specialized decarbonated steel in its exterior. Sustainable materials define the interior as well, with the floors made from recycled plastic, the ceilings from old tires and the windows from old buildings. (Tiny House Shadow完全可以移动,并且可以拆卸。它是同类建筑中第一个在外部采用特殊脱碳钢材的建筑。可持续材料也定义了内部,地板由回收塑料制成,天花板由旧轮胎制成,窗户来自旧建筑。)”可知,第三段主要讲述的是Tiny House Shadow可持续的设计特点,包括其可移动性、可拆卸性以及内外部使用的各种环保材料。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“In the case of Tiny House Shadow which considers everyday functions and needs versus wants, each resident reduces his or her carbon footprint greatly compared to life in a conventional house. Through the architecture and the lifestyle it promotes, Tiny House Shadow re-images what our residential space could be without the unnecessary waste we’re used to. 根据最后一段“Kuittinen hopes it can be a demonstration of low-emission, resource-efficient single-family housing for the modern age. (库伊蒂宁希望它能成为现代低排放、资源高效利用的单户住宅的示范。)”可知,库伊蒂宁对Tiny House Shadow的期望是将其作为建筑模型,展示未来住宅的可能性。 D “Humans have around 20,000 protein-coding genes, but little is known about how those protein molecules (分子) organize and interact,” says Trey Ideker, a professor of medicine at the University of California San Diego. D. Doubtful. 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. D 15. B 【解析】 【导语】本文主要介绍了加州大学圣地亚哥分校的Trey Ideker教授及其团队绘制了一张人类细胞图谱,揭示了5000多种蛋白质在细胞内的位置和相互关系,为研究和治疗疾病提供了全新的“维修手册”。 【12题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段““Humans have around 20,000 protein-coding genes, but little is known about how those protein molecules (分子) organize and interact,” says Trey Ideker, a professor of medicine at the University of California San Diego. Sensory fibers in the heart constantly relay information about blood pressure, rhythm, and physical strain ____38____ the brain, largely through the vagus nerve (迷走神经). The brain then uses this feedback to adjust bodily state and ____39____ (respond). I’m writing to share my experience at the Resilience Training Camp recently organized by my school. Before the camp, I often felt discouraged when running into challenges. But the camp helped me see difficulties differently. Once, we did a teamwork challenge where we built a paper tower with limited materials. When our tower collapsed, I stayed calm and encouraged my teammates to try again instead of getting frustrated. I feel more confident now and try to treat setbacks as opportunities to improve. Looking back, the experience was really rewarding. Best wishes, Li Hua 【解析】 【导语】本篇书面表达要求考生以李华身份给美国网友David写邮件,分享参加学校心理韧性训练营的经历,介绍自身发生的变化以及个人感想。 【详解】1. 词汇积累 遇到:run into → come across 倒塌:collapse → fall down 有意义的:rewarding → worthwhile 提高:improve → enhance 2. 句式拓展 句型转换 原句:But the camp helped me see difficulties differently. 拓展句:But it was the camp that helped me see difficulties differently. 【点睛】【高分句型 1】Before the camp, I often felt discouraged when running into challenges.(运用了when引导时间状语从句的省略结构) 【高分句型 2】Once, we did a teamwork challenge where we built a paper tower with limited materials.(运用了where引导限制性定语从句) 第二节 读后续写(满分25分) 47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 The Wind Phone Every morning Mario visited his neighbor, Mr. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卷的相应位置作答。 Mr. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Mr. Harper’s phone booth sat high on the hill like a lighthouse. Its white paint glowed in the spring sun, a quiet call to Mario. He crept inside again, fingers brushing the old receiver. Lifting it to his ear, he choked out, “Dad? The peach trees are blooming. I miss hearing you greet the ocean.” His voice, rusty from disuse, trembled as tears blurred his eyes. For the first time since the wave, the silence in his chest felt lighter. As Mario stepped out, he spotted Mr. Harper down at the port. The old man turned, a soft smile on his face. Mario walked over, throat tight but determined. “I... I talked to him,” he whispered. Mr. Harper nodded, patting his shoulder. “The wind carries our words to them. They hear us, Mario.” Mario looked at the ocean, where waves lapped gently. This time, he whispered back, “Good morning, Dad.” A small, shaky smile tugged at his lips. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①举起:lift/raise ②颤抖:tremble/quiver ③轻拍:pat/tap 情绪类 ①坚定的:determined/resolute ②小声说:whisper/murmur 【点睛】[高分句型1] He crept inside again, fingers brushing the old receiver.(运用了独立主格结构作伴随状语) [高分句型2] His voice, rusty from disuse, trembled as tears blurred his eyes.(运用了由as引导的时间状语从句) [高分句型3] Mario looked at the ocean, where waves lapped gently.(运用了由where引导的非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
