Critical Discussion:
1. Which tour(s) would you recommend for people who enjoy history and culture?
eg:
I'd recommend Machu Picchu and Cusco. Machu Picchu shows the Inca stone buildings, and Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire.
Critical Discussion:
2. Look at the brochure again. Do you think the brochure tells you everything you need to know? What information is missing that a real traveler would need?
eg:
•Cost/Price
•Safety warnings (e.g., altitude sickness in Andes)
•Weather/Clothing advice
•Visa requirements
Critical Discussion:
3. The text says “Inca builders cut stones so that nothing was needed to hold walls together other than the perfect fit of the stones.” How do you think they did this — without modern tools?
eg:
Maybe they used other hard stones as hammers(锤子) and chisels(凿子). They probably tried many times, fitting each stone until it was perfect.
Critical Discussion:
4. Tourism brings money to Peru, but too many visitors may damage Machu Picchu's stone walls and disturb the rainforest. Should Peru limit the number of tourists? How can we balance development and protection?
eg:
On one hand, tourism gives jobs and money. On the other hand, too many people will destroy the place. Maybe they should limit daily visitors, or require everyone to go with a guide.
Complete the passage with the correct forms of the new words from the two texts.
