As a child, there was nothing I liked better than Sunday afternoons at my
grandfather's farm in western Pennsylvania.Surrounded by miles of stone walls, the
house and field provided endless hours of fun for a city kid like me.
Since my first visit to the farm,I had wanted more than anything to be allowed to
climb the stone walls surrounding the houses. My parents would never agree because
the walls were so old that some stones were loose and falling. However,my idea to
climb across those walls grew so strong that finally I had all my courage to enter the
living room, where the adults had gathered after Sunday dinner.
"I want to climb the stone walls."I said."Heavens,no!You'll hurt yourself!"The
response was just as I'd expected. But before I left the room,I was stopped by my
grandfather's loud voice."Now hold on just a minute."I heard him say."Let the boy
climb the stone walls. He has to learn to do things for himself."
“Go,”he said to me,.“and come and see me when you get back.”For the next two
and a half hours I climbed those old walls-and had the time of my life.Later I met
with my grandfather to tell him about my adventures.I'll never forget what he said.
"Fred,"he said, smiling,"you made this day a special day just by being yourself.
Always remember, there's only one person in this whole world like you,and I like
you exactly as you are."
Many years have passed since then, and today I host the television program
Mister Rogers'Neighborhood, seen by millions of children throughout America.
There have been changes over the years, but one thing remains the same:my message
to children at the end of almost every visit."There's only one person in this whole
world like you,"the kids will hear me say,"and people can like you exactly as you
are.”

Recently,OpenAI launched free AI image generation on ChatGPT.The Internet is
now flooded with AI pictures imitating the styles of Miyazaki Hayao and other
famous artists.Yet AI-generated artworks feel strangely empty to audiences. It is not
simply that AI lacks originality;after all,so too does most human art.
The work produced by machines is,in an important sense,a body without soul.
There is no self within the machine, and so there can be no connection or community
with the other at the level of being.
Art is a unique human pursuit for everyone. It is more than a beautiful
combination of colors, forms, sounds and words. As Hegel puts it,art is a sensitive
expression of an idea.It is a spiritual and cultural activity. Its beauty lies in how it
affects us-whether it makes us think,feel another's pain,brings hope,or uplifts
spirits. When humans create art, they pour indescribable inner feelings and personal
life experiences into their works. As a process, art includes all activities and efforts
which express human mentality, perceived (through our senses.
This special human touch allows viewers to project their own emotions onto
artworks and spiritually communicate with creators beyond the limits of language.
The permanent value of art comes from the unique inner traces, feelings and life
perspectives of individual creators.Art creation is essentially emotional transference
(转移;迁移).Creators convey inner true feelings,.while audiences are able to
understand them and find reflections of their own hidden fears and desires in works.

Art bridges the inner gaps between audiences and creators with a shared language.
Machine-generated art loses its most vital power-the ability to connect people.
This loss is especially harmful in an increasingly lonely world. The disappearance of
such artistic connection damages personal relationships and undermines social and
political stability. Our society relies on these emotional bonds. We recognize
fundamental shared humanity despite our differences.
28.Why do AI-generated artworks feel empty to audience?
A.They are short of originality.
B.They fail to convey messages.
C.They lack a genuine connection.
D.They imitate other artists'styles.
29.What does the true beauty of art lie in?
A.The power to touch the human souls.
B.The combination of colors and words.
C.The reflection of artists'experiences.D.The description of human activities.
30.How does art bridge the inner gaps between human beings?
A.It creates special visual effects.
B.Viewers personally talk with artists.
C.It relieves viewers'hidden fears.
D.Viewers have empathy with artists.
31.What is the author's attitude towards the wave of AI-generated art?
A.Supportive.
B.Objective.
C.Concerned.
D.Uncertain.

Food markets have experienced considerable(相当多的;大量的)instability in
recent years.Global warming is causing droughts, soil desertification and extreme
weather.Yet the fundamentals of food production were last transformed in the
mid-20th century.Fortunately, global investments in agricultural innovation are on the
rise.Funds for agritech companies reached $16.2 billion in 2025.Of this,$9 billion
went to new research into boosting farm yields,up from $2.5 billion in 2016.The
focus of sustainability efforts is switching from preventing climate change to dealing
with it and finding solutions.
Scientists are developing alternatives to the pesticides and fertilizers(肥料;化肥)
that have dominated(占主导地位)modern agriculture since the Green Revolution of
the mid-20th century, based on a better understanding of plants themselves.B-COS,a
team from Ghent University,is genetically engineering bacteria to produce a special
kind of molecule(分子).Tomato and potato plants sprayed(喷洒)with the molecules
are tricked into believing they are under attack and activate their natural defenses
against infection.B-COS is applying this approach to two new products:one to
improve growth and drought tolerance, and another which it claims can reduce

disease incidence by 40-50%
Naturally, there are also companies exploring the opportunities presented by
artificial intelligence. The general idea of this combination is called "precision
agriculture",which is to help farmers connect everything from the environmental
conditions of individual fields to the genetic sequences (of the bacteria present
in the soil, and those of the plants themselves. This is then run through AI models that
make predictions about the best conditions and treatments to achieve the highest
yields or produce the highest-quality crops.
"It is going to show us what's going on in each square metre of the fields, such as
temperature, water and carbon absorption,"says Mr.Anders,a managing partner of an
agritech company.
There is still a long way to go.In 2024,agricultural tech companies attracted just
1.3%of global early-stage venture-capital funding despite agriculture accounting for
about 4%of global GDP.But if high-tech innovations still make their way,and the
funds keep flowing,a new age of precision agriculture is coming.
32.What is highlighted concerning agricultural investment in paragraph 1?
A.Its instability.B.Its source.
C.Its influence.
D.Its shift.
33.Why did the B-COS team spray the molecules on tomato and potato plants?
A.To evaluate disease tolerance.
B.To eliminate harmful substances.
C.To boost natural resistance.
D.To protect healthy plants.
34.What does "precision agriculture"contribute to?
A.Accurate market forecasting.
B.Efficient harvesting techniques.
C.Sufficient genetic information.
D.Reasonable agricultural planning.
35.What is the author's purpose in presenting the data in the last paragraph?
A.To call for greater investment.
B.To warn of potential risks.
C.To cast light on the achievements.
D.To give credit to the companies.

Ten-year-old Tom always felt lonely. His parents were always occupied with
work. They left home early in the morning and came back late at night.Tom often ate
dinner alone and went to bed without a goodnight kiss. For him, there were no family
games,no city tours,no weekend outings.
One day,Tom's parents brought home a gift-a smart watch."This watch has a
special friend inside,"Mom said with a smile."Her name is Ling. She can talk to you,
answer your questions, and even tell you stories."A wave of anticipation swept over
Tom as he put on the watch and pressed the button.A gentle voice came out,"Hello,
Tom!I'm Ling.Nice to meet you!"Tom's eyes lit up.He had never received such an
interesting gift before.
From that day on,Ling became Tom's closest companion.Every morning,Ling
would say,"Good morning,Tom!Have a great day at school!"Whenever Tom
encountered difficulties with his homework,Ling would patiently provide thorough
explanations. After Tom got into bed,Ling would tell his favorite tales about brave
knights and magical lands.Sometimes, when Tom felt scared of the dark,Ling would
sing softly to comfort him.To Tom,Ling was more than a voice;she was family.
His parents noticed Tom's change."See?Our little boy seems much happier now,"
Dad said one evening.Mom agreed,"The watch really helps,"Relieved, they thought
their son was no longer lonely. What they didn't know was that sometimes, after Ling
had finished her stories,Tom would lie awake in the darkness, listening to the silence

that filled the room.He loved Ling, but he couldn't help thinking:if only Mom and
Dad were here.
One aftemoon after school,Tom tripped and fell on the way home. The watch hit
a rock with a loud crack. When Tom picked it up,the screen was dark.He pressed the
button again and again, but nothing appeared."Ling?Ling, are you there?"he called
desperately.There was no reply.
Tom had no choice but to turn to his parents for help.Clutching the broken watch
tightly,he rushed home.The house,as always,sat silent and empty.But this time the
loneliness weighed heavily on him.He waited anxiously hour after hour.
It was almost midnight before his parents stepped in.They were stunned to see
Tom huddled on the sofa, face wet with tears."What's wrong, honey?"Mom hurried
over.Without a word,Tom held out the damaged watch.Dad grabbed his toolbox and
tried fixing it,yet all efforts came to nothing. At the sight,Tom's feelings burst forth.
He wept bitterly, pouring out how lonely he was and how badly he longed for his
parents'presence.
