One Possible Version:
My Views on Having Breakfast in Classrooms
Recently, there has been a growing trend among students to eat breakfast in classrooms during breaks. While it is understandable that some students may struggle with time in the morning, bringing food into the classroom is not the best solution.
Firstly, it can lead to hygiene problems. Leftover food and crumbs can quickly turn our learning spaces into untidy, unpleasant environments. In addition, the smell of food can be distracting to classmates and may even cause discomfort. Also, having breakfast hastily or while multitasking can harm our digestion and health. To address this issue, I suggest we adjust our morning routines by getting up a bit earlier, allowing enough time for a proper breakfast. The school cafeteria can consider offering grab-and-go options to reduce queueing time.
Let’s respect our shared spaces and take care of our health by making better choices each morning.
Moments later, I received a call from my mother. She said she took the egret to the animal hospital for further observation due to its slow recovery. Instantly, I felt relieved and hurried there immediately. Upon arriving, I found the lovely egret standing softly in a clean cage. It greeted me as usual as it saw me. Mom told me it would stay at the hospital for professional care and treatment, and still needed time to build up strength to adapt to the wild alone. I visited it every day, feeding it and accompanying it, hoping it could return to nature pretty soon.
A month later, my mother and I returned to the lake to set the egret free. I held the egret gently and placed it on the soft grass. After seconds of hesitation, it spread its wings and flew into the sky gracefully. Watching its free and elegant figure disappearing above the lake, a warm sense of fulfillment flooded my heart. I once desired a fancy camera, but now I truly understood that real beauty is never captured by equipment, but preserved by kindness. True photography is not about perfect pictures, but about respecting and guarding every precious creature around us.

Text 1
M: According to the map, the train station should be here, but this looks like a building site.
W: Look at this sign. The station is being modernized, and passengers have to use the side entrance.
M: OK. Let’s head over there.
Text 2
W: I’m in a cold sweat and have a headache. And I’m thirsty, too.
M: Did you eat a hamburger at the market?
W: How did you know?
M: Because I’ve treated someone with the same symptoms. You probably have food poisoning
Text 3
M: Katie, did you hear the news? Karl’s group just won first prize at the science fair.
W: Really? Are you kidding me? I thought Karl was better at music than science.
Text 4
W: Dad, would you like a cold drink?
M: Yes, a glass of iced coffee, please. It feels like an oven out there.
W: Yeah. This summer seems much hotter than usual.
M: And it’s said that today we’ll have record-breaking temperatures.
Text 5
M: Why didn’t you join the group discussion in the online class?
W: My internet cut out suddenly. I only reconnected when it ended.
Text 6
W: Do you help around the house much?
M: Yeah, housework doesn’t bother me. If I’ve made the bed and put away my clothes, it’s nice to look around and see everything all neat and tidy.
W: Exactly, I know what you mean. And in the kitchen, I don’t mind cutting a few vegetables or something, but I’m less keen on doing the dishes.
Text 7
W: Eric, I just finished recording the audio guide for the pencil drawings that’ll be included in our modern art exhibit next week.
M: That’s great. But unfortunately, we have to make one change. The drawing by Claudia Hoffman will no longer be in the exhibit. There was a scheduling mix-up, and it was promised to another museum starting next week.
W: Oh, will you put anything in its place?
M: No. We’ll just remove it.
W: OK, I’ll make that change to the audio-guide recording right away.
Text 8
W: Welcome to Lakeview Hotel. How may I help you?
M: My name is Robert Stark, and I have a reservation for two nights, a single bed.
W: OK, Mr. Stark, please fill out this form.
M: Sure. Where is the main lecture hall? I don’t want to be late for the writers’ gathering tomorrow. Many famous writers will be here. I’m very excited to attend their lectures.
W: The main lecture hall is on the second floor. Mr. Stark, I will put you in Room 403.
M: Thank you. And where can I buy a nice souvenir?
W: There is a large souvenir shop two blocks away, about ten minutes’ walk from here. It’s across the street from a grocery store. Here is your room key Enjoy your stay, Mr Stark.
M: OK. Could you direct me to the lift?
Text 9
W: Hello, Dr. Green, I’m here to talk to you about my work placement.
M: Oh, yes. So, which work placement have you chosen?
W: I decided to go for the Orion Stadium placement. The event I’ll be managing is one where I’m helping to set up a sports competition for primary school children.
M: Yup. That’s always a popular placement, even though it can be tougher than you think, working with children.
W: I know, but it’s the fresh air that fascinates me. Organizing something indoors doesn’t have the same appeal, even though it might be fun.
M: OK. Just a heads-up—watch out for flying balls and equipment around the kids.
W: Yes, I’ll ask whether they provide some protective wear. And I’ll also need to make sure none of the equipment’s damaged.
M: Ah, well, you’ll be working with schools, so the equipment will be their responsibility. However, the grounds and what goes on there will be yours.
W: Oh, I see.
Text 10
W: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to our special feature on a meaningful event hosted by the charity organization Save Our Street Dogs, or SOSD. On March 2nd, SOSD will hold its annual fundraising and adoption event in Urban Park. This combined event aims to raise funds for a new care center while also helping more street dogs find loving homes. The funds raised are crucial for the construction of the SOSD Care Center, a major step to accommodate more dogs in need. At present, SOSD cares for 160 dogs at its shelters and also feeds 70 homeless dogs wandering around on Jurong Island. During the event, visitors can meet several dogs seeking forever homes. These include Odin, recently rescued from an abandoned factory and now recovering from an eye injury; Caleb, a loving dog who was left behind after his owner moved away; and Tami, a fun companion rescued from a forest, who had surgery after suffering a severe leg injury. These three are just a few of the furry friends waiting for adopters.
On-the-spot volunteer registration will also be available on March 2nd. This is a great chance to support a worthy cause, so why not take part in the event on March 2nd and help a dog find its forever home?
解析:根据Pau Cubarsi部分可知,他没有参加2024年欧洲杯,但“he did win an Olympic gold medal that same summer”,即他在2024年夏天赢得了奥运金牌。
解析:文中明确说,父亲最初的动机“simply to participate in the conversation”,即参与对话;他来自贫困背景,提问是他“finding his voice”、在不安场合中融入的方式。 故选A。
文中说这样做能帮助他们“acquire a profile in class and involve themselves more deeply”,并逐渐参与对话。
故选A。
故选A。
解析:第四段中研究人员说:“We think human densities are detrimental to conservation of large meat-eating animals like tigers. But more than density it is the attitude of people that matters.” 故选A。
解析:根据第一段“AI systems are often described as ‘brain-like’ because they can predict activity in parts of the brain...”以及“Until now, scientists mostly tested this in one direction.”
解析:根据第四段“While AI models can predict the neurons we recorded in the brain fairly well, the reverse is not true.”
解析:前文提到“uncertain times”“rapid changes”以及“test our ability to cope”,G项中“these new circumstances”正好指代这些新情况,“our mindset determines whether we can cope”也与前文“ability to cope”紧密呼应,并自然引出下文对Frankl心态观点的介绍。
解析:前文说“we always have the ultimate freedom to choose our attitude”,E项中“This freedom”指代前句中的“ultimate freedom”,说明这种自由属于我们自己、不能被他人夺走;后文“It can be viewed...”
Frankl,“we don’t have to be prisoners of our thoughts”与后文“Instead, we can exercise... the ultimate freedom to choose one’s attitude”形成对比和承接。
解析:后文说“Whether these situations involve personal or collective challenges”,其中“these situations”需要前文先引出“situations”。D项“We all struggle with situations in life that are beyond our control”正好引出“超出我们控制的处境”,并与后文“we are not simply at the mercy of what life brings”呼应。
解析:前文说“Being a ‘true optimist’ requires more than just positive thinking”,C项“Positive thoughts aren’t enough in and of themselves”与“more than just positive thinking”意思一致;后文进一步说明还需要想象可能性和感受情感、激情,因此C项承上启下。故选C。

During my girlhood,I used to accompany my father to various public events and community discussions.
Whatever the occasion,my father always had something to say.He would ask a thoughtful question or make a
sharp comment. As a result,I assumed that he knew something about everything.
How could this be?He was certainly an educated man.He was born in Williamsburg,Brooklyn,a
neighborhood that was,at the time, simply poor. When a friend applied to a New York high school,he
followed suit and was admitted. He went on to eam an undergraduate degree and then, after serving in World
War I,earned a Ph.D.in chemistry.It's an impressive path,but his education had been focused on the sciences;
how was it that he knew so much about other things-Stickley furniture and the Battle of Waterloo, for
example?
I recently put the question to him.He explained that,as a teenager,he had made a promise to himself to
ask a question in any gathering he attended. The exercise had sharpened his ability to listen, speak, and engage
with whatever was happening. But his initial motivation,as my father readily admits, was simply to participate
in the conversation. He came from a poor background and, though very intelligent, lacked the polish of the
more privileged people with whom he came into contact.Asking a question was his way of finding his voice,
often in settings where he felt uneasy, and also a way of fitting in.In speaking up,he received
acknowledgement, which led to greater confidence, which led to greater participation, and in the end,to
greater knowledge.
Ever since my father's method caught my attention,I have urged my shyer students to follow his
example.I tell them to try to speak at least once during a class,if only to ask a question.Doing so helps them

acquire a profile in class and involve themselves more deeply. In time, they will contribute to the conversation.
And eventually, they may be able to amaze their children with their wide-ranging knowledge.

While tigers have faced a population decline due to human activity, the big cats in India have made a
dramatic comeback, the BBC reports. The population has doubled over the last 10 years thanks to targeted
conservation efforts. The country is home to approximately 3,682 tigers today, which is the largest tiger
population in the world.
According to the India House Foundation, the tiger population had dropped below 1,900 in 1972.A
combination of illegal hunting, shrinking habitats, and increasing conflict with humans contributed to the
decline of the species. Therefore,India launched Project Tiger in 1973.The initiative created protected
reserves, specialized guard forces,anda“core-buffer(缓冲区)”strategy that balanced conservation with
nearby human activity. As a result,India not only protected the big cats from illegal hunting and habitat loss,
but also ensured they had access to habitats that were rich in food.

Though India's tigers have learned to live among roughly 60 million people, including farming
communities and rural settlements, the process has presented some conflict. To reduce tension, the researchers
highlighted the importance of financial compensation (programs for communities that share resources
with tigers. And they note many of these communities already enjoy an economic boost from an increase in
eco-tourism.
Large meat-eating animals are often believed to struggle in densely (populated areas, but the
findings showed that tigers were able to recover even in areas where they lived near large human populations
when conditions were suitable."We think human densities are detrimental to conservation of large meat-eating
animals like tigers. But more than density it is the attitude of people that matters,"Yadvendradev Vikramsinh
Jhala,the study's lead author,tells the BBC.
Following this success, conservationists in India are expanding their efforts to protect other endangered
wildlife.Projects are already underway to support elephant, snow leopard, and crocodile populations.Wildlife
conservationists and ecologists in India are going to share data with other scientists to benefit wildlife globally.
28.Why did India start Project Tiger?
A.To restore the tiger population.
B.To make way for human activity.
C.To eliminate human-tiger conflicts.
D.To relocate tigers to protected reserves
29.What can be inferred about India's tiger conservation efforts?
A.They have forced residents to leave.
B.They require little ongoing investment.
C.They boost growth in local agriculture.
D.They haven't been completely smooth.
30.What does the underlined word"detrimental"in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Unfavorable.
B.Equal.
C.Restricted.
D.Responsive.
31.What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.Tracking more success examples.
B.Identifying the endangered species.
C.Expanding India's conservation model.
D.Displaying benefits of protecting animals.

AI systems are often described as"brain-like because they can predict activity in parts of the brain that
help us recognize objects.Until now, scientists mostly tested this in one direction.Researchers from York
University wanted to determine whether these systems truly operate like biological vision.
The researchers reversed (that familiar test.If AI genuinely reflects the brain, they reasoned,
then recorded brain activity should also predict the model's internal responses.
The researchers tested the models with 1,320 natural photographs and realistic synthetic ()images.

The set included bears, elephants, faces, apples, cars, dogs, chairs, planes, birds, and zebras shown against
indoor, outdoor, and other natural backgrounds. They also used 300 additional images describing the same
objects in changed forms,including outlines,drawings,simplified representations,and artistic variations.This
broader range helped test whether the relationship between brain activity and AI features held across different
visual styles.
"The results were striking. While AI models can predict the neurons (we recorded in the brain
fairly well, the reverse is not true.Interestingly, this is not the case when neurons from one brain are compared
against ones from another brain, and the one-sided imbalance disappears,"says York University Assistant
Professor Kohitij Kar.
This imbalance suggests that AI models may reach correct visual answers through processes that differ
from those used by the brain.Kar warns that the mismatch could widen as models become more complex. If
an AI model predicts neurons but its own internal features cannot be predicted from neural activity,it may not
provide a reliable explanation of how the brain works.
Researchers increasingly use AI models to design studies of human behavior, including clinical research.
Much of that work assumes the systems process the world like the brain.
More accurate brain-like models could eventually support research involving conditions related to the
brain. For now, however, using systems that do not match brain function well to interpret human behavior
carries risks.Comparable models are also being applied to hearing, language and movement, making reliable
testing important across several fields.
32.What did most previous studies focus on concerning AI models?
A.How the brain genuinely reflected them.
B.How they were integrated into the brain.
C.Whether they could predict brain activity.
D.Whether they took control of the neurons.
33.What does the brain fail to do in the reverse test?
A.Recognize objects in natural photographs.
B.Process visual information like AI models.
C.Forecast neurons from another similar brain.
D.Equally predict AI models'internal features.
34.Why is clinical research mentioned in paragraph 6?
A.To doubt the reliability of current AI models.
B.To highlight the significance of the reverse test.
C.To sing high praises for technological advances.

We are living in uncertain times, both globally and individually. And we are also facing rapid changes
that test our ability to cope(处理)·__36_
The world-renowned psychiatrist Viktor E.Frankl is perhaps best known for practicing"freedom of
will"in terms of choosing an attitude when experiencing unavoidable or inescapable suffering.
According to Frankl,no matter how desperate our situation in life may be,we always have the ultimate
freedom to choose our attitude.37It can be viewed, moreover,as both the foundation of and the
driver behind our ability to cope with and respond to whatever challenges in life come our way.
Frankl relied upon an important belief system,or mindset ()to help him sustain an optimistic view
even when he was facing extreme hardships in life.38 Instead,we can exercise what he called the
"last of the human freedoms",the ultimate freedom to choose one's attitude in response to whatever life
circumstances we face.
39 Whether these situations involve personal or collective challenges,we can still come to
understand that we are not simply at the mercy of what life brings;we involve ourselves in life and bring
meaning to it.And it is by changing our mindset that we can respond to life. That is to say,we should become
“true optimists''.
Being a"true optimist'requires more than just positive thinking.40 We need to be able to
visualize the possibilities that may or can result from our choice of attitude and, moreover,be able to feel the
emotion and passion behind our choice of attitude that will help us realize such possibilities.
A.Choice is more important than effort.
B.They encounter both joyful and sorrowful times.
C.Positive thoughts aren't enough in and of themselves.
D.We all struggle with situations in life that are beyond our control.
E.This freedom belongs only to ourselves and cannot be taken away by others.
F.His extraordinary story showed that we don't have to be prisoners of our thoughts.
G.Fundamentally, our mindset determines whether we can cope with these new circumstances.

Photography has long been my favorite hobby and I'm always eager to record beautiful moments of
nature with my camera.
One morning,I was walking slowly along the lake near my neighborhood, expecting to capture a good
moment, when I heard a weak and painful cry coming from the thick grass by the bank.Curious and
concerned,I walked closer and found a little white egret (trapped in an abandoned boat. Its wing was
badly hurt, and it was struggling helplessly, unable to escape.Out of pity,I tried every means to free it without
causing further injury. Finally I rescued the poor creature and took it home temporarily.
My mother works at a local animal hospital. She gave the egret simple and careful treatment immediately
Meanwhile,I used a large cardboard box to build a warm nest for it on the balcony. With good care, the egret
gradually regained its strength, but recovered very slowly from the injury to its wing.
The egret's pure white feathers and elegant postures fascinated me deeply.Suddenly an idea occurred to
me:If I could keep the rare and beautiful wild bird and take a series of exquisite (photos of it when it
grew bigger,I could participate in the city's photography competition and definitely win the grand prize. The
prize money was exactly enough to cover the cost of my long-awaited professional camera. However, staring
at the egret's clear eyes and recalling how it struggled in pain before the rescue,I hesitated.Wild animals
should belong in nature instead of being personal possessions. Finally,I firmly gave up this idea and decided
to release it into the wild after it fully recovered.
One afternoon,I returned home after school as usual.Shockingly, the cardboard nest was empty and the
window was wide open.Thinking the egret must have flown away alone but hadn't fully recovered from the
injury,I felt a sharp sense of loss and worry.
