A
阅读以下语篇,完成第29-32题。
①It has long been known that spending time in nature is good for mental health, whether listening to birdsong or walking in a park. A study published in 2024 shows that even half an hour of birdwatching could make us happier and healthier, and help build a deeper connection with nature.
②We already know that hearing birds during the day has a positive effect. Even listening through an open window can lift our mood, though the effect may be short. The new study finds that watching birds is even better than only listening to them. It is also more helpful for health than only going for a walk in nature.
③Why is birdwatching so helpful? One reason may be “biophilia”—the idea that humans feel close to nature. Being in nature simply makes us feel good because of biodiversity (生物多样性). Studies suggest that diversity in nature acts like a natural medicine to help reduce stress and encourage us to exercise more. Birdwatching increases good feelings, which are key to happiness. Being aware of good feelings makes people even healthier.
④Birdwatching can also create a sense of awe (敬畏). Feeling amazed by nature can change how we feel about our lives. Being in nature and watching wildlife requires us to lose ourselves in the activity, which is good for both mind and body.
⑤Another reason is that birdwatching can lead to “flow”—a state of deep focus. By carefully counting birds and watching their behaviors, birdwatchers often feel a rush of happiness and great satisfaction, which is good for their health.
⑥In short, birdwatching is a powerful way to improve mental health. So, pick up your binoculars, step outside and try birdwatching. Enjoy every moment in nature—your mind will thank you.
9. What does the underlined word “biophilia” mean in paragraph 3?
A. A fear of nature. B. A feeling of getting close to nature.
C. A love for exercise. D. A scientific study of counting birds.
10. From the passage, which is the most helpful to health?
A. Listening to birdsong. B. Taking a walk in the park.
C. Watching birds in nature. D. Picking up your binoculars.
11. The passage is probably written for people ________.
A. looking for a healthy hobby B. planning outdoor classes
C. studying sounds of nature D. doing detailed bird research
12. What is the structure of this passage (①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2)?
A. B. C. D.

I was sitting next to Missy in my 9th-grade world history class when Mrs. Bartlett announced a new project: In groups, we were to create a newspaper about the culture we were studying.
On a piece of paper, we wrote the names of three friends we wanted in our group. After collecting all the requests, Mrs. Bartlett told us that she would consider our choices and let us know the results the next day.
After the bell rang the next day, Missy and I waited nervously as Mrs. Bartlett started to call out names. When she reached group three, Missy’s name was called. I thought I would be in the same group, as I knew we had chosen each other. Then the other three names were called. Mine was not included. There must be a mistake!
Then I heard it. The last group: Mauro, Juliette, Rachel, Karina! I could feel tears well in my eyes How could I face being in that group—the boy, Mauro, who hardly spoke English and had no friends; Juliette who was from West Asia, was always covered by long skirts; and the other girl who wore strange clothes. Oh, how I wanted to be with my friends!
I fought back tears as I walked up to Mrs. Bartlett. Knowing what I was there for, she looked at me and gently placed a hand on my shoulder.
“I know what you want, Karina,” she said, “but your group needs you. I need you to help them get a passing grade on this project. Will you help them?”
I was amazed. She had seen something in me even I hadn’t seen. “Yes,” I replied. I couldn’t believe it came out of my mouth, but it did.
I joined the group and guided our project. Through our hard work, we not only got an A but also developed new friendships. More importantly, I discovered my own hidden leadership and value. It was a lesson that was more than a simple newspaper.
13. What did Mrs. Bartlett ask her students to do in the new project?
A. To give a report about their friends. B. To write a story about world history.
C. To make a poster about different countries. D. To create a newspaper about the studied culture.
14. How did Karina feel when she heard the names in her group?
A. Excited and happy. B. Surprised and upset. C. Proud but worried. D. Glad but nervous.

“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.” This famous English proverb (谚语) has been widely used since the 16th century. People believe that horses are difficult to change their minds. However, a recent study by Nottingham Trent University has shown that this old proverb has been looking down on horses.
To test how smart horses are, the lead researcher Louise Evans and her team did a three-stage experiment with 20 horses. In the first stage, the horses got a small snack just for touching a piece of card with their noses. Then, in the second stage, a “stop light” was added: the horses could only get a snack if they touched the card when the light was off. At first, most horses ignored (忽视) the light and made many mistakes. Things changed in the third stage. The researchers added a punishment for wrong actions: if a horse touched the card when the light was on, it had to wait 10 seconds to play again. Surprisingly, all horses started to stop making mistakes and learned to touch the card only when the light was off to get the snack.
The study suggests that the horses could understand the rules the whole time but didn’t pay much attention to them in the second stage. “When there was a 10-second stop for getting something wrong, they started paying attention.” said Evans.
Evans hopes this important study will help improve horses’ lives and she also suggests not using cruel (残忍的) ways to train horses well. “In training, you really don’t need to use anything too strict to get really good performance out of horses. Generally, when people start to think that animals may have better cognitive (认知的) abilities than we thought, the treatment of animals will be improved.”
17. How does the writer start the text?
A. By telling a story. B. By giving an example.
C. By using a famous saying. D. By sharing an experience.
18. Which of the following is true about the experiment in the research?
A. Water, snacks and cards were needed.
B. The aim was to test the living skills of horses.
C. Horses should touch the card when the light was on.
D. Horses finally got the rule and made fewer mistakes.
19. What advice does Evans offer after the study?
A. Train animals with more snacks B. Punish animals for every wrong action.
C. Ignore animals’ mistakes during training. D. Treat animals kindly and trust their abilities.
20. What’s the best title of the text?
A. Wise Horses, Friendly Humans B. Studies Make Horses Grow
C. Horses: Friends of Humans D. Hidden Truth of the Horses

China is a country with a long history and rich culture, especially Tang Poetry and Song Ci.
Tang Poetry
Poetry in the Tang Dynasty reached the peak (巅峰) in the development of poetry. It’s worthy of its fame in Chinese culture. It’s an ideal mix of thought and art.
In terms of themes, those poems tell us about politics, wars, history, landscapes, street scenes, love and so on. In terms of style, Tang Poetry can be divided into classical poems, seven-character octaves (七言律诗) and five-character quatrains (五言绝句). Considering poets, we can find poets from emperors, officials, farmers, fishermen and even children. Two of the most famous poets we know are Li Bai and Du Fu. Poems of the Tang Dynasty enjoyed a golden environment because of the prosperous country and free rules.
Song Ci
Ci in the Song Dynasty showed another type of poetry at that time. This type of poem is the same as lyrics created for musical accompaniment (伴奏), and the words of Ci had to match the rhythm (韵律) of the music.
Ci, depending on its length, can be divided into xiaoling (short-sized, less than 58 characters), zhongdiao (middle-sized, 59~90 characters), and changdiao (long-sized, more than 91 characters).
Each Ci has a title as well as cipai which is the name of the musical style and decides the rhythm and form. The names of cipai were created from famous people or events in history.

第二节 语篇理解与推理(共12小题;每小题2分,满分24分)
A
阅读以下语篇,完成第29-32题。
A. B. C. D.
【答案】9. B 10. C 11. A 12. B

C
阅读以下语篇,完成第37-40题。
【答案】17. C 18. D 19. D 20. A

Reflection (反思) means thinking carefully about something to understand it better. It is not about being negative—it’s about asking questions, making good choices, and learning from what you do. There are many ways to do it. ____22____ It could be a short idea after class, a normal talk with a friend about what you’ve learned, or just a stop to think about what felt easy or hard in your studies.
____23____ First, it helps you plan and decide what to do first. With so many things like school, family, friends and hobbies, you can feel stressed. To reflect well, you can try tools like a reflective journal. In the journal, write what happened, what you did, what you learned and what you could do better. ____25____ You can focus on one topic, ask yourself questions and review your writing to find useful patterns. Poems of the Tang Dynasty enjoyed a golden environment because of the prosperous country and free rules.
Song Ci

Ci, depending on its length, can be divided into xiaoling (short-sized, less than 58 characters), zhongdiao (middle-sized, 59~90 characters), and changdiao (long-sized, more than 91 characters).
