第一部分
Dear George,
I’m thrilled to hear that you’ve begun your six-month exchange program here in China. While you must be excited about your new life here, it’s only natural to feel a little overwhelmed by cultural differences. Many exchange students go through the exact same thing.
If you ever feel awkward or confused because of cultural gaps, don’t hesitate to open up about your true feelings. This will help others understand you better and ease your discomfort. You may also consider exploring the city center with friends on weekends. Taste local food or strike up conversations with locals. Most of them are warm-hearted and willing to answer your questions or listen to your stories.
I believe you will gradually get used to the new environment. If you ever need support, just write to me.
All the best,
Li Hua
第二部分
When we returned to the park, we saw Mr Green sitting on a bench. He watched us and looked puzzled as we approached with the repaired bicycle. “What happened?” he asked. We all looked at each other, and I took a deep breath. “We accidentally kicked a soccer ball into your bicycle and broke the bell,” I said. “We took it to the repair shop and got it fixed.” Mr Green looked surprised, but then he smiled. “Thank you for being honest,” he said. “I appreciate that. And thank you for fixing it. You did the right thing.”
Mr Green’s words made me relieved. I couldn’t help but reflect on how much courage it had taken to admit my mistake, and how much better I felt for having done so. As we walked away, I felt proud of myself for admitting what had happened. I realized that being honest was the right thing to do, even when it was hard. From that day on, I always remembered the lesson I had learned: Honesty is always the best policy, and sometimes, it can lead to unexpected kindness and understanding.

The Face-down Generation
If you’re reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, global, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the “face-down generation” because you use your phone so much and they wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies (发短信和自拍) to become successful in real life — or “IRL”, as you would say?
Other adults worry that today’s youth are spoilt (宠坏的) and don’t want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents”. They were always there to guide and help them with a busy schedule filled with homework and extra-curricular activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today’s youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up? Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be enthusiastic (热情的) and willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you’re one of the oh-ohs, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation. Chances are that you will do GR8(great) and LOL(laugh out loud).
24. What is the text mainly about?
A. The advantages of the “face-down generation”. B. The challenges faced by the “face-down generation”.
C. Opinions and facts about the “face-down generation”. D. The lifestyle of the “face-down generation”.
25. Why are the oh-ohs regarded as the “face-down generation”?
A. Because they use their phones so much.
B. Because they know how to deal with school, friends and family.
C. Because they are busy taking selfies to become successful.
D. Because they are more interested in the world around them.
26. What would a “helicopter parent” do?
A. They do everything for their kids.
B. They give a lot of homework to their kids.
C. They take part in many extra-curricular activities.
D. They would live like teenagers even if they are adults.
27. What would the writer probably agree?
A. The oh-ohs are spoilt.
B. The oh-ohs need changes.
C. The oh-ohs are a generation that brings hope.
D. The oh-ohs are less creative than the past generations.
C
Lucy was a lovely girl with curly hair in her junior high, but this difference made her uncomfortable and shy in public. She hated standing out from her classmates, so she tried many ways to make her hair straight, but they didn’t work.
One day, when Lucy got on the school bus as usual, some boys laughed at her hair again. Lucy kept her head down and couldn’t help crying silently in her seat.
When she came back home after school, Lucy poured all her sadness and worries out to her father. Her father hugged her gently and thought that Lucy was beautiful and special just the way she was. After a deep conversation, he showed Lucy a short video about their prime minister (总理). In the video, the prime minister was giving a speech in public, with curly hair, wise eyes and a warm smile. This greatly encouraged Lucy. She made up her mind to become a person like the prime minister. She worked hard and tried to act more confidently.
A few days later, Lucy took part in the school speech competition. “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high...” her voice was very loud and everyone could hear her clearly. She showed herself with confidence. Hearing cheers from her classmates, Lucy knew she won. She was the best public speaker on that stage.
28. Why did Lucy try to make her hair straight?
A. Because she had curly hair but she didn’t like it.
B. Because she wanted to change her hairstyle.
C. Because her curly hair made her different at school.
D. Because the school didn’t allow students to have curly hair.
29. Why did Lucy’s father show her a short video of their prime minister?
A. To encourage Lucy to study harder. B. To help Lucy gain confidence.
C. To show that curly hair is beautiful. D. To help Lucy with the school competition.
30. Which is the correct order of the following events?
① Lucy and her dad had a deep conversation. ② Lucy took part in the school speech competition.

What Real Sports Spirit Teaches Teenagers
When we talk about sports spirit, many people immediately think of winning championships and breaking records. However, victory is only one small part of sports spirit. True sports spirit lies in how you behave, whether you are winning or losing a game.
Good sports spirit requires self‑control. When you lose a match, it is natural to feel disappointed. But players with good sportsmanship will never blame teammates, argue with referees or make rude comments about opponents. Instead, they accept the result calmly and look for room to improve themselves. Even when you win, you should avoid showing off. Respecting your competitors is a basic rule of sports.
Sports spirit also means valuing teamwork over personal glory. In many team games, one star player cannot carry the whole team to success. Every member’s effort counts. A good player will pass the ball and create chances for partners rather than trying to score all points on his own. He celebrates others’ progress instead of only caring about his own performance.
Furthermore, sports spirit continues outside the playground. The qualities we learn on the sports field — patience, respect and responsibility — can influence our daily study and social life. Sports do not just build our bodies. They shape our personalities for the long term.
32. What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. Players should show off whenever they win games. B. Self‑control and respect show good sports spirit.
C. Losing a match must make people feel angry. D. Referees always make wrong decisions in games.
33. What does the underlined phrase “room to improve” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. space for making progress B. place for having a rest
C. chance to win prizes D. reason for giving up
34. What will a player with real sports spirit do in team games?
A. Try to get all scores by himself. B. Blame partners for every failure.
C. Create opportunities for teammates. D. Refuse to pass the ball to others.
35. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Sports values can go beyond the sports field.
B. Sports only bring physical changes for teenagers.
C. Team games are less meaningful than single‑player sports.
D. Winning championships is the only purpose of sports.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One sunny afternoon, I was playing soccer with a group of neighborhood kids in the park. We were having a great time, laughing, and running around. Suddenly, one of the kids kicked the ball a little too hard, and it flew out of the park, landing right in front of a bicycle parked by the roadside. The ball hit the bicycle, causing it to fall over and hit the ground. When we rushed over to check, we saw that the bicycle’s bell had been damaged and was no longer ringing properly.
We all stood there, looking at each other in shock. “What are we going to do?” one of the kids whispered. We knew the bicycle belonged to Mr Green, who lived nearby. He was a kind man, but we were afraid he would be upset about the damage.
After a moment of hesitation, we decided to try and fix the bicycle ourselves. We gathered around it, trying to figure out how to repair the bell. One of the kids suggested we use some tape to hold it in place, but it didn’t work. Another kid tried to bend the bell back into shape with his hands, but it only made things worse. We realized we needed professional help.
We found the local bicycle repair shop and explained the situation to the owner, Mr Brown. He listened patiently and then took a look at the bicycle. “I can fix this for you,” he said, “but it will cost a bit of money.” We all looked at each other, worried. None of us had any money to pay for the repairs. But Mr Brown saw the concern on our faces and said, “Don’t worry, kids. I’ll fix it for free this time. Just make sure you’re more careful next time.”
We thanked Mr Brown and waited anxiously while he worked on the bicycle. When he was done, he handed it back to us. We checked the bell and found it could ring clearly once again. “There you go,” he said with a smile.
