Do you still remember what happened on your first day of school? I still remember my first day of school. On that day, I hurried to my science class in the morning and found a seat in the back. I waited there for 15 minutes before the bell rang. The science teacher told us about some class rules. No one talked to me nor did I talk to anyone else. I was one of those very shy girls. After the science class, I had an English class. I thought it would be boring but it turned out to be very fun. When the morning classes ended, I went to lunch. I sat outside the dining room with no one to talk to and no food because I was too nervous to join the lunch line. I kept looking around hoping to see someone I knew but I never saw anyone.
Lunch ended and I went to have my art class. I was the first one there and not even my teacher was there yet. So I sat at my desk and started drawing some pictures. I didn’t notice the rest of the class walking in or the girl who was standing behind me until I was surprised by the voice, “So what are you drawing?” It was a girl who had really long hair. She ended up being my best friend and one of the kindest and liveliest girls I know.
In the next class meeting, the teacher asked us to talk about the past holiday. I was glad to make some new friends in the class. The first day of high school was hard for me but I got through it.

A.She was 15 minutes late for it. B.She made some new friends.
C.She learned some class rules. D.She sat in the front row.
25.According to the writer, how was the English class?
A.Boring. B.Useful. C.Hard. D.Interesting.

C.Because she wasn’t hungry.
D.Because she didn’t like the dining room.
27.In the art class, what did the writer do?
A.She met someone she knew before.
B.She talked about her past holiday.
C.She got to know a lively girl.
D.She drew some pictures of her class.

If English means endless new words, difficult grammar and sometimes strange pronunciation, you are wrong. Haven’t you noticed that you have become smarter since you started to learn a language?
According to a new study by a British university, learning a second language can lead to an increase in your brain power. Researchers found that learning other languages changes grey matter. This is the area of the brain which processes information. It is similar to the way that exercise builds muscles.
The study also found the younger people learn a second language, the greater the effect is.
A team led by Dr Andrea Mechelli, from University College London, took a group of Britons who only spoke English. They were compared with a group of “early bilinguals” who had learnt a second language before the age of five, as well as a number of later learners.
Scans showed that grey matter density (密度) in the brain was greater in bilinguals than in people without a second language. But the longer a person waited before mastering a new language, the smaller the difference.
“Our findings suggest that the structure of the brain is changed by the experience of learning a second language,” said the scientists.
It means that the change itself increases the ability to learn.
Professor Dylan Vaughan Jones of the University of Wales, has researched the link between bilingualism and maths skills. “Having two languages gives you two windows on the world and makes the brain more flexible ,” he said. “You are actually going beyond language and have a better understanding of different ideas.”
The findings were matched in a study of native Italian speakers who had learned English as a second language between the ages of 2 and 34. Reading, writing, and comprehension were all tested. The results showed that the younger they started to learn, the better. “Studying a language means you get an entrance to another world,” explained the scientists.

B.there is no difference between a later second language learner and one who doesn’t know a second language
C.the experience of learning a second language has bad effect on people’s brain
D.the earlier you start to learn a second language, the higher the grey matter density is

A.early learning of a second language helps you a great deal in studying other subjects
B.learning a second language is the same as studying maths
C.Italian is the best choice for you as a second language
D.you’d better choose the ages between 2 and 34 to learn a second language
D
Stress is a normal part of senior high school life. Before a big exam, most students feel their hearts beat faster. This is not a sign that something is wrong. In fact, a little stress can help you focus and get things done.
The problem begins when stress lasts too long. If you keep worrying for weeks, your body stays in a state of “high alert”. You may find it hard to fall asleep, lose your appetite, or get angry over small things. Doctors say that long-term stress can even weaken the immune system, making you fall ill more often.
So what can students do? Researchers at a Beijing university followed 600 senior high students for one school year. They found that students who did three simple things reported less stress than those who did not.
The first is to write things down. When you put a worry on paper, it stops moving around in your head. The second is to move your body. Twenty minutes of running, swimming or even dancing can lower the level of stress hormones (激素) in your blood. The third is to talk to someone. Sharing a problem with a friend, a parent or a teacher does not make the problem disappear, but it often makes it feel smaller.
“Nobody can remove stress from life,” one of the researchers said. “But we can learn to manage it. That skill is as important as any subject you study at school.”
32.What does the author say about a little stress?
A.It is a sign of illness. B.It helps students focus.
C.It should be avoided. D.It lasts for several weeks.
33.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.Ways to fall asleep quickly. B.The harm of long-term stress.
C.The reason for feeling angry. D.Changes in students' appetite.
34.According to the research, what can lower the level of stress hormones?
A.Writing worries on paper. B.Talking to a friend.
C.Taking physical exercise. D.Following a strict timetable.
35.What does the researcher suggest in the last paragraph?
A.Students should avoid all stress. B.Managing stress is a valuable skill.
C.Subjects at school matter most. D.Stress can never be understood.

M: Welcome to the museum tour. Please allow me to express a warm welcome and I’m honored to show you around. First I will go over the map with you in the hall in case you get lost. Do not worry if you get lost. You can ask one of our staff members for directions. After we get out of the hall, our first stop will be the Egyptian section. This one has our oldest art in it. Next, I will take you to the Asian art and ancient objects on the left. This is my favorite section, because each piece has a wonderful story. The tour’s last part will be the European section. We have borrowed some of those items from the National Museum! The first thing you should notice is the writing below each piece. I will speak about most things, but you can also check the information there. No photo is to be taken here, so please turn off your cameras. Most importantly, please do not touch any of the art! The oil on your hands will damage these ancient objects!

36.由上文“Our parents are often the foundational people in our lives, providing love, support, and guidance from our first day.(我们的父母往往是我们生命中最基础的人,从我们出生起就给予爱、支持和指导。)”以及下文“It presents new challenges and opportunities for deeper connection.(它带来了新的挑战和更深层次连接的机会。)”
37.由上文“Remember that effective communication is a two-way process that involves both talking and listening.(记住,有效沟通是一个双向过程,既包括说也包括听。)”以及下文“This means you’re truly trying to understand them, not just waiting to speak.(这意味着你真正试图理解他们,而不只是等着自己说话。)”
38.由上文“Making an effort to spend quality time together is essential for creating lasting memories and strengthening your connection. The key here is “quality” over “quantity”.(努力共度高质量的时光,对于留下长久回忆、增进彼此的感情至关重要。这里的关键在于‘质量’而非‘数量’。)”可知,上文提出陪伴重在质量而非时长。本空位于段末,需要对该观点展开说明。选项E表示“重要的不是你花了多少时间,而是你如何花这些时间。”,是对上文观点作出具体解读,能承接上文,符合题意。
39.由上文“Regularly expressing gratitude for the support and love they’ve provided can significantly strengthen your bond.(经常对他们给予的支持和爱表达感激,能显著加强你们之间的纽带。)”以及下文具体表达谢谢的方法“Thank you so much for helping me with the garden last weekend; I really appreciate you taking the time.(非常感谢你上周末帮我打理花园,我真的很感激你抽出时间。)”
根据本段其余内容“No one is perfect, and that includes our parents; they have made and will make mistakes just as we all do. Patience is essential, especially when dealing with generational differences or moments of conflict.(人无完人,我们的父母也一样;他们和我们所有人一样,过去会犯错,未来也依然会犯错。耐心至关重要,尤其是在处理代际差异或是发生矛盾的时候。)”可知,本段围绕看待父母不足、处理亲子矛盾展开,重在强调耐心包容。选项A表示“练习耐心与宽容。”,能统领该段,适合作本段段首句。

Congratulations on entering high school! I’m glad you want to improve your English. Here are some suggestions.
First, try to read English aloud every morning. It helps you develop a good sense of the language and improves your pronunciation. Second, focus on vocabulary building. Make notes of new words and review them regularly. Third, read more English passages and practice writing short passages in your spare time. This will help you put what you have learned into use.
I hope these tips are helpful. I hold the belief that you will make great progress!
