If interested, you can sign up with me by this Friday, my office is Room 302 in the student center. Thank you. 76. 应用文 范文一 I have learnt in the school English newspaper that the academic pressure is bothering you and that making friends is a great challenge for you. As a matter of fact, it is not uncommon for a freshman to go through these sufferings. Here comes my advice. As for your study, it always comes first to develop a well-structured study plan and schedule daily tasks accordingly. Keeping a good sleep and diet routine is also preferable, which is vital for maximizing learning efficiency. When it comes to making friends, it is advisable to join various clubs or interest groups of your school, which helps make more like-minded friends while enriching your extracurricular activities. I hope these suggestions are of some help to you. 范文二 I’m sorry to hear that you have trouble dealing with pressure and making friends. I once felt the same when I entered senior high. I was also curious about everything but felt stressed. Here are my suggestions. First, keep an open mind and introduce yourself actively to break the ice. Join clubs and take part in various after-school activities. In this way, you will build a good relationship with new classmates and feel at home soon. Second, make daily plans and set clear short-term goals. Keep a balance between study and daily life. When faced with pressure, calm down and go all out. Hold your head up and never lose heart. As people say, “Well begun, half done.” May your senior high journey be full of growth and joy! 77.读后续写范文一 Tears filled my eyes and I wanted to run away, but I made myself stop. I took a deep breath and turned to look at Justin. He was still breathing hard, his face red and sweaty. We had both gone all out. He had beaten me, but he had tried so hard too. I looked at him for a moment, and then I walked over and shook his hand. “Congratulations, Justin. You deserved it.” Justin looked surprised at first, and then his tired face broke into a big smile. “Thanks, Sammy,” he said, still catching his breath. “You were so fast. I didn’t think I could catch you.” We both laughed. The sadness was still there, but it was smaller now. I had done my best, and that was enough for today. 范文二 Tears blurred my eyes and I wanted to run away, but I forced myself to stop. I took a deep breath and turned to look at Justin, still gasping for breath, his checks flushed and glistening with sweat. We had both gone all out. He had beaten me, but he had also run his heart out. If he could be kind to me now, why couldn’t I be happy for him? I stepped forward and shook his hand. “Congratulations, Justin. You deserved it.” Justin stared at me for a second, and then smiled. “Thanks, Sammy,” he said between breaths. “That was the hardest race of my life. I really thought you were going to win.” Somehow the sadness in my heart grew a little lighter, and I knew I had given my best — and that was enough for today. 1. B I was walking home in Toronto one day when a well-dressed man politely stopped me to ask for directions. He hesitated repeatedly and struggled painfully to get his words out, with a worried look. I did not stop him, for I could tell he was not really asking for directions. Later, he explained he was practising talking openly to strangers with his stammer (口吃), hoping to build up his confidence in social communication. As someone who has stammered from childhood, I can fully understand his feelings. Unlike those whose stammer is easy to notice, I am actually a hidden stammerer. Most people think I am just quiet, unaware that I have been hiding my stammer for years. From an early age, I learned to use word replacements and indirect expressions to avoid difficult sounds. I also tried whispering or changing my voice tone (语调) to cover up my speaking problems whenever I felt nervous. Such a fear of being discovered has greatly influenced my life. I kept away from self-introductions and social activities, missing many valuable chances for friendship and self-development. During high school, I lived in continuous fear of being called on unexpectedly in class and speaking in public. At university, I finally got proper learning support, but many classmates misunderstood me as slow and shy. I once even gave up my dream job due to others’ prejudice (偏见) against stammerers. Thankfully, as time went by, I gradually learned to face and accept myself. I took courage from stammering role models in books, films and public life, and began to open up honestly to my family and friends. I now clearly know my stammer will never disappear completely. Instead of always hiding it. I’ve learned to live in harmony with it and regard it as a natural part of my identity! 24. Why did the well-dressed man actually stop the author? A. To ask for directions. B. To offer advice on managing a stammer. C. To practise his coming lecture. D. To overcome his fear of public conversation. 25. How did the author hide his stammer from others? A. By pretending to be quiet. B. By using different words and tones. C. By avoiding indirect expressions. D. By receiving professional treatment. 26. How did the stammer affect the author’s early life? A. It limited his social and personal life. B. It made him perform poorly in class. C. It pushed him to challenge prejudice. D. It brought him support at university. 27. What does the author’s experience show? A. Hiding problems keeps trouble away. B. Talking openly helps build confidence. C. Learning from others inspires love for life. D. Accepting imperfection brings inner peace. C Plastic pollution is a global threat, but new research shows that certain rules can help. By studying information from hundreds of local bag rules in the U. S. and over 45,000 beach clean-ups, researchers discovered that in areas with bans (禁令) on single-use plastic bags, these bags made up a much smaller part of the litter collected. “It was surprising to see that these rules worked,” said co-author Kimberly Oremus, an environmental economist. In addition to their primary finding that these bans work, the researchers further found that complete bans and bag taxes are more effective than partial (部分的) bans, where some types of heavier plastic bags are still allowed. Bans at the state level also help more than bans in just one city. Finally, areas that had a lot of plastic waste to begin with saw the biggest improvement from the bans. To confirm the findings, the researchers did more work. They checked for “spillover effects,” where bans in one area might increase litter in neighboring areas without bans, but found no clear evidence of this. They also found that bag waste did not come back after a few years. However, the study also had a surprising result. Over the seven-year study period, plastic bag litter increased across most sites, with or without bans. The difference was that in places with bans or fees, this increase was much slower and smaller. “Compared to having no rules, it’s clear that bag bans are better,” Oremus said, “but rules that only ask shoppers to change may not be enough to stop plastic pollution.” This points to a possible future solution. In 2022,175 countries began working on a global treaty (条约) to end plastic pollution, which may limit the production of single-use plastics. As another co-author Anna Papp said, “Cutting the problem off at the source is more likely to work than rules that only focus on shoppers.” 28. What did the study find about plastic bag rules? A. They removed bag litter completely. B. Bans helped least where litter was worst. C. Complete state bans beat partial city ones. D. They made more bag litter in nearby places. 29. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about? A. Solutions go beyond bag bans. B. Bag bans are far from effective. C. Plastic litter still rises despite bans. D. Bag bans end plastic pollution forever. 30. What is Anna Papp’s view on plastic pollution control? A. Stricter city rules on plastic bags. B. More effort into global clean-ups. C. Focusing on controlling production. D. Identifying the source of plastic litter. 31. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. Plastic Bags: A Lasting Problem. B. Bag Bans: A Step, Not the Answer. C. Plastic Pollution: An Ongoing Challenge. D. Beyond Bans: Calling for a Global Treaty. D Expert birdwatchers have changes in their brain structure (结构) compared with beginners, which probably help them better identify birds and slow age-related cognitive (认知的) loss. When learning or practising a skill, the brain reorganises itself. This ability is called neuroplasticity. For example, professional musicians show structural changes in brain regions related to hearing. To understand whether birding also shapes the brain, Erik Wing at York University in Canada and his colleagues analysed brain structure and function in 48 hobbyist birders, half experts and half beginners. They were aged 22 to 79 and both groups were similar in terms qt sex, age and education. During brain seans (扫描), the birders were shown a bird image for less than 4 seconds. About 10 seconds later, they tried identifying the same bird in one of four images, each showing a different species. “We intentionally picked highly confusable bird species,” said Wing. The task was repeated 72 times, using images of 18 bird species, six of which were local and 12 of which weren’t. As expected, expert birders performed better. On average, they correctly identified 83% of local birds and 61% of non-local ones. In contrast, beginners got only 44% correct for both. While identifying non-local birds, three brain regions became more active in expert birders, but not in beginners. These regions are related to object identification, image processing, attention and working memory. Moreover, these brain regions appeared more structurally complex (复杂的) and organised in expert birdwatchers, suggesting building expertise in birding reshapes the brain. As we age, brain structure normally becomes less complex. But this change was less noticeable in expert birders, suggesting birding may help build cognitive reserve, the brain’s ability to protect itself against ageing and adapt to damage. “Maintaining brain activity with specialised abilities may reduce the effects of ageing,” said Robert Zatorre at McGill University in Canada. However, to really know whether the brain changes are due to birding, researchers would have to scan the brain over months to years. 32. Why does the author mention professional musicians? A. To talk about different life skills. B. To illustrate the idea of neuroplasticity. C. To show musicians’ great talent. D. To compare music with birdwatching. 33. What made it hard for the birders to identify the birds in the task? A. Much repetition of the task itself. B. Inclusion of more non-local birds. C. Close similarity among bird species. D. Improper timing for image viewing. 34. What did the brain scans find about expert birders? A. No brain changes related to ageing. B. Quicker brain responses to local birds. C. The same complexity of the brain as beginners’. D. Greater activity and finer organization of the brain. 35. What is the author’s attitude towards the findings? A. Fair. B. Supportive. C. Doubtful. D. Unclear. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Happy World Bee Day! May 20 was chosen because it’s also the birthday of the pioneer of modern beekeeping, Anton Jansa of 18th-century Slovenia. 36 They pollinate (授粉) 35% of the world’s food crops, including 75% of the fruits, vegetables and nuts grown in the U. S.. The queen bee doesn’t rule the hive (蜂巢) as you might think. 37 Without their constant care, the queen would die. And when her time does eventually come, the worker bees raise a new queen, which stings (蛰) the old queen to death before taking over. You may have heard that if a bee stings you, it dies. This is true only for honeybees. Other bees, including bumblebees and carpenter bees, can sting multiple times. In 1962, in what had to be one of the worst days of his life, a man in Zimbabwe survived getting stung more than 2,000 times! Roughly, 500 bee species have no stingers at all. 38 Fewer than 8% of Americans are allergic to bee stings, but it’s still a common fear. 39 Researchers in Africa use beehives, as well as “buzz boxes” that send out the sound of bees, to prevent animals from destroying crops and living areas. Bees aren’t just limited to outdoor spaces like farms or gardens — they can also happen in unexpected public areas, sometimes causing unusual situations. Last May, a swarm of bees landed on the wing of a Delta Airlines plane parked in Houston, putting off its departure for hours. 40 They fly about a mile at a time, stopping to rest in open spaces like airports, many of which now use pollinator-friendly practices to protect bees and their staff. A. To defend themselves, they bite. B. Bees are well worth celebrating. C. Even elephants are terrified of bees. D. Today in the U. S., there are about 125,000 beekeepers. E. Her job is to lay eggs while worker bees clean and feed her. F. In spring, growing groups of bees fly together to search for larger homes. G. Last night, I took my caps off the hook on my wall. I wanted to hang my new medal there. I couldn’t wait to see it every morning. Dad was in the crowd too. He would pick me up and put me on his shoulders. “My son!” he would tell other fathers. “My son won the race!” I was going to win! Faster than Sarah, I came up behind Mikey, giving my legs that extra burst of energy to pass him by. The winner, Sammy! All that running in the park was worth it! Just as I heard the crowd cheer for me at the finish line, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. There was Justin with his red cheeks running as fast as possible, breathing hard like he was going to blow the house down. And then he was in front of me. I was behind red face Justin. Crossing the finish line, I heard the voice over the loudspeaker boom, “Congratulations to the winner, Justin!” Congratulations to Justin? 注意: 续写词数应为80左右; 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I stood there, my face burning with disappointment. __________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
